We have developed a gain-switched room-temperature Cr:forsterite laser operating at repetition rates of between 1 and 34 kHz, and pumped by a continuous wave, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. With optimised output coupling, an output pulse energy of 52 μJ was measured at 1.5 kHz repetition rate, corresponding to 11% efficiency and 13% slope efficiency. Threshold pulse energy was 53 μJ. Output power of 370 mW was obtained at 10 kHz repetition rate and 4.4 W pump power. Water cooling was not required for repetition rates up to 10 kHz. In a tunable, folded resonator, the Cr:forsterite wavelength tuned between 1173 and 1338 nm. This laser operated with maximum pulse energy of 34 μJ, efficiency of 13%, and power of 307 mW. The laser output was close to diffraction-limited with M2 of 1.2. Received: 6 January 1999 / Published online: 29 July 1999  相似文献

We demonstrate 12-ps pulses with up to 0.6-mJ pulse energy at repetition rates of 50 kHz and 100 kHz from a Nd:YVO4 slab amplifier built in a simple four-pass configuration. Excellent noise performance with pulse energy fluctuations below 0.8% rms has been achieved by using 10-μJ seed pulses from a highly stable industrial laser system and moderate gain (30–46) in the slab amplifier.  相似文献

We have achieved intracavity parametric conversion of the radiation from a laser based on Nd:YVO4 with high-power diode pumping. An LiF2- crystal was used as the passive Q-switch for the Nd:YVO4 laser. We have shown that by using an active element in the master laser with a passive region, we can form pulsed laser beams at a wavelength of 1.57 μm with peak power 3.2 kW and repetition rates up to 80 kHz, with beam quality parameter 1.4–1.8. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 73, No. 1, pp. 5–8, January–February, 2006.  相似文献

We report progress in the design and fabrication of a monolithic, linearly polarized, pulsed, Yb-doped fiber laser. This laser has a peak power of more than 100 kW, a tunable repetition rate from 100 kHz to 1 MHz, a tunable pulse duration from 2 ns to 2.5 μs, and a diffraction-limited, linearly polarized output beam with a mean power of 21 W and a wavelength of 1064 nm. A seed source that consists of a microchip Nd:YVO4 laser and an electro optic deflector is developed. Using this source, the repetition rate and pulse duration are varied independently of each other. In addition, an excellent pulse-to-pulse repeatability is achieved.  相似文献

We report for the first time the actively Q-switched laser performance of a class of mixed Nd:Gd x Y1−x VO4 crystals. In comparison with the ordered Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:YVO4, an enhancement in both pulse energy and peak power is demonstrated in the low pulse-repetition frequency (PRF) range of 5–20 kHz, confirming Nd:Gd0.64 Y0.36VO4 as the most advantageous in this respect. Laser pulses of 8.3-ns duration are generated at PRF=10 kHz with pulse energy and peak power being respectively 171 μJ and 20.6 kW. While for high-PRF operation (>∼40 kHz), the ordered Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:YVO4 prove to be superior to the mixed crystals.  相似文献

The efficient oscillation of LiF:F2 color center laser pumped by a compact LD-pumped Nd:YVO4 acousto optically Q-switched laser with 30 kHz pulse repetition rate was demonstrated. The broadband oscillation with 75 μJ pulse energy and 37 kW peak power with the slope efficiency 20% was obtained. The average output power as high as 230 mW was reached. The narrow line tunable from 1.10 to 1.29 μm laser radiation with 10% conversion efficiency in the maximum of the tuning curve was achieved under pumping with 1.6 W average pump power.  相似文献

The lasing properties of an intracavity Nd:KGW Raman laser which converts the multimode radiation of an Nd:KGW laser operating on the 4 F 3/24 I 11/2 transition into the third Stokes component at a wavelength of 1.5 μm are studied. The energy in the third Stokes component is found to increase essentially linearly with the electrical energy delivered to the flashlamp. Lasing at the third Stokes component begins in the central portion of the Nd:KGW crystal and then propagates to its boundaries. Reducing the geometric aperture of the multimode pump beam in the Raman crystal lowers the divergence of the Stokes emission. For a source pump energy of 6 J, the intracavity Raman laser emits 14.7 mJ pulses of duration 3–4 nsec which are safe to the eyes. The divergence of the Raman laser beam at a level of 86% of the total energy is ≈ 9 mrad.  相似文献

A compact efficient diode-end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched intracavity-frequency-tripled Nd:YVO4 355 μm ultraviolet laser was realized. Intracavity sub-resonators with anti-reflection and high-reflection coated mirrors were used to get higher efficiency of third harmonic generation. With two LBO crystals used in frequency doubling and tripling processes, greater than 1.46 W 355 nm average output power was obtained under the absorbed pump power of 13.9 W and the repetition rate of 10 kHz. The corresponding pump-to-ultraviolet conversion efficiency was determined to be as high as 10.5%. At 10 kHz, the minimize pulse width was obtained to be 12 ns with the peak power of 10.4 kW and single pulse energy of 146 μJ.  相似文献

This paper reports the operation of a Cr4+:YAG Q-switched CW diode laser pumped Nd:YAG at 1064nm. The laser performances resulted in 167 μ J, 21ns pulses at 10kHz, and 1.67W power output. When intracavity polarized, stable amplitude (fluctuations <±1%), TEM00, 153 μ J pulses were generated allowing 50% SHG in KTP. This revised version was published online in November 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The efficient cw mode locking (cw-ML) regime was demonstrated in Nd:YVO4 laser by means of saturable absorber mirror (SAM). The 0.3-at.% Nd3+ doped 10-mm-long YVO4 crystal end pumped by 20-W diode module with a beam shaper was applied as a gain medium located in the close vicinity to the rear flat mirror of the first arm of Z-type resonator of 316 cm total length with two curved mirrors of 100-cm curvature radii. The SAM of 2%-saturable absorptance and saturation fluence of 50 μJ/cm2 was mounted at the opposite end of a resonator. The developed “dynamically stable” cavity design mitigates detrimental role of thermal aberration in gain medium, enforcing clean perfect mode locking even for the highest pump densities. The cw-ML pulses with 47.5 MHz repetition rate and pulse durations in the range of 15–20 ps were observed for a wide range of pump powers and output coupler losses. In the best case, for 32% of output coupler transmission, up to 6.2 W of average power with near 35% slope efficiency was achieved. The thresholds for Q-switched ML, cw-ML regimes were 2.67 W and 6.13 W of pump power, respectively. For the maximum pump power of 20 W we obtained 133 nJ of pulse energy with 16-ps pulse duration, resulting in a peak power higher than 8 kW. The threshold energy density at SAM giving the QML regime was estimated to be about 30 μJ/cm2, threshold of cw-ML regime was 220 μJ/cm2.  相似文献

A diode-laser-array end-pumped acousto-optically Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser, formed with a three-mirror folded resonator, has been demonstrated. With 15 W of pump power incident upon the Nd:GdVO4 crystal, a maximum average green output power of 3.75 W was obtained at 50 kHz of pulse repetition frequency, giving an optical conversion efficiency of 25%, whereas the effective intracavity frequency-doubling efficiency was determined to be 72%. At the incident pump power of 12.8 W, the shortest laser pulse was achieved at a pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz, the resulting pulse width, single pulse energy, and peak power were measured to be 35 ns, 108 μJ, and 3.1 kW, respectively. We report an efficient single-frequency ring laser pumped directly into emitting level by a fiber-coupled laser diode (FCLD) at 885 nm for the first time. 4.8 W laser at 1064 nm was obtained in a 0.7 at % Nd:YAG with 63% slope efficiency and 51.7% light-light efficiency in absorbed pump power. At the same time, the line width of the longitudinal mode was about 50 MHz, and the beam was nearly diffraction-limited with M2 ≈ 1.07.  相似文献

We demonstrate that Yb-doped Ca4GdO(BO3)3 (GdCOB) crystals are suitable for the development of high-power diode-pumped lasers emitting at around 1.04 μm. A 15%-doped Yb:GdCOB crystal was longitudinally pumped with a cw fiber-coupled diode emitting 10 W at 976 nm. While 5.2 W of diode power was absorbed, we obtained 3.2 W of 1043-μm laser light, with a beam quality factor M2 equal to 3, and 2.5 W in a diffraction-limited beam. Furthermore, the laser is continuously tunable between 1018 and 1086 nm. Thermal effects have been investigated with a Shack–Hartmann wavefront analyser: although thermal lensing is not negligible, it does not affect the performance of the laser with the resonator design we used. A passively Q-switched a-cut Nd:YVO4 self-stimulating Raman laser using a Cr:YAG saturable absorber has been demonstrated for the first time. The maximum average output power of the self-Raman laser at 1176 nm is 347 mW at the incident pump power of 10 W with a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of 66 kHz. The pulse width, pulse energy of the 1176 nm are found to be 10 ns and 5.6 μJ. The conversion efficiency from diode laser input power to Raman output power is 3.47%.  相似文献

By using a piece of single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber, the performance of the passively Q-switched composite Nd:YVO4 laser has been demonstrated for the first time. The maximum average output power and the shortest pulse width are 1220 mW and 103 ns at the incident pump power of 5.04 W for a 10% transmission of the output coupler. The highest pulse repetition rate of 415.6 kHz and the largest single-pulse energy of 2.94 μJ are also obtained. The composite Nd:YVO4 crystal has more excellent laser performance than the normal Nd:YVO4 crystal at 1064 nm.  相似文献

We developed a high-power oscillator–regenerative amplifier femtosecond laser system. Based on chromium-doped forsterite. The system is operating near 1.25 μm at a 5–10 kHz repetition rate. Chirped-pulse amplification produced 0.86 W (0.75 W) of average power, or 465 mW (400 mW) after compression at 5 kHz (10 kHz). Nearly bandwidth-limited pulses of duration 135 fs (shortest) and 150 fs (typical) are available with an energy of 93 μJ and 40 μJ at 5 and 10 kHz, respectively. Summary In this paper the realization is described of CO2 laser with high energy (≈10J/pulse), long pulses (≈2μs) and narrow bandwidth (≈200 kHz), using suitable discharge device (Lumonics 602) and cavity configuration (modified self-filtering unstable resonator). The theoretical considerations which led to these choices are also discussed and the results obtained are shown. A widely continuous tunable eye-safe laser based on periodical poling lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal, driven by a diode-end-pimped acoustic-optical (AO) Q-switcher Nd:YVO4 laser was demonstrated. Under the pumped power of 7.74 W at 808 nm and the frequency repetition rate of 45 kHz, the maximum output power of 0.58 W at 1534 nm with the minimum pulse duration of 7.53 ns was obtained. The corresponding peak power and single pulse energy were calculated to be up to 1.71 kW and 12.9 μJ, respectively. By changing 20 different channels with poling period between 27.8 to 31.6 μm, we measured widely continuously tunable wavelength coverage from 1390 to 1605 nm.  相似文献

The maximum average output power of 0.529 W was achieved under the pump power of 5.6 W, corresponding to an opticaloptical conversion efficiency of over 9.4% and slope efficiency of over 16%. The pulse width was shortened to 85.6 ns, corresponding to the maximum pulse repetition rate of 250 kHz. The largest single pulse energy and peak power were 5.57 μJ and 58.74 W, respectively.  相似文献
