Abstract

Cancer is one of the big killers of world population. The majority of cancers are diagnosed at a late stage, making a cure almost impossible. Fluorescence spectroscopy is an emerging diagnostic tool for various medical diseases including premalignant and malignant lesions. Fluorescence spectroscopy is a noninvasive technique and has been applied successfully for the diagnosis of multisystem cancers with high sensitivity and specificity. Fluorescence spectroscopy minimizes the need for repetitive biopsy, which is routine practice for cancer patient follow-up. But there are many aspects of this new diagnostic technique that should be discussed in future research to overcome limitations and challenges faced by this technique for diagnosis of cancers.  相似文献

A Glancing-Incidence and Take-off X-Ray Fluorescence (GIT-XRF) apparatus with which both incident angle of primary X-ray and take-off angle of fluorescent X-rays can be controlled has been newly developed for characterizing surfaces and interfaces. Using this apparatus, Ni/Mn multilayer samples were evaluated obtaining Take-off-Angle-Dependent X-Ray Fluorescence (TAD-XRF) curves at arbitrary incident angles of primary X-ray. In particular, we could obtain information on the near surface by measuring TAD-XRF curves at the incident angle less than the critical angle of total reflection for primary X-rays.  相似文献

A comparative study has been made of three laser methods of remotely mapping three atmospheric constituents. It has been found that for NO2, SO2 and I2 Differential Absorption and Scattering has a greater range and sensitivity than Laser-Induced Fluorescence, whilst for SO2 both techniques are superior to Raman backscattering. However, the sophistication and the difficulty of interpretation associated with the former system indicates that Laser-Induced Fluorescence might be the most suitable technique in a number of situations. In particular, the Fluorescence technique appears to be well suited for mapping of localized sources of specific molecules in the 100 to 1000 m range. An analysis of the fluorescence return signal expected from a localized source has indicated that above a certain peak concentration a distortion of the returned signal could lead to a misinterpretation of both the range and concentration of the source.  相似文献

传统表征有机物含量的水质参量如化学需氧量(COD)和生化需氧量(BOD)等只能表示总量,无法展示有机物成分.荧光光谱可以作为一种新型的水质表示方法,它像指纹一样与水样一一对应,被称为水质荧光指纹.采用三维荧光光谱(EEM)技术研究了城市污水荧光指纹特征,结果表明城市污水具有4个典型荧光区,各区的荧光中心、强度以及1区荧光中心λex=280 nm,λem=340 nm与2区荧光中心λex=225 nm,λem=340 nm的荧光强度的比值可以作为城市污水的主要荧光指纹特征.荧光指纹包含了大量污染物信息,通过与城市污水中典型污染物质的荧光光谱的比对,初步确定了各荧光区可能的荧光信号来源.荧光指纹法可表示有机物类型和含量,可作为化学需氧量和生化需氧量等参量的有益补充.  相似文献

We report a detailed investigation of fluorescence properties of synthetic eumelanin pigment in solution. A complete set of fluorescence spectra in the near-UV and visible range is analysed. Excitation spectra at a few selected emission energies are also investigated. Our measurements support the hypothesis that fluorescence in eumelanin is related to chemically distinct oligomeric units that can be selectively excited. Fluorescence due to large oligomer systems is spectrally differentiated from that due to monomers and small oligomer systems. Fluorescence excitation measurements show the contribution of 5,6-dihydroxyndole-2-carboxylic acid and 5,6-dihydroxyndole monomers to the emission of small-size oligomers.  相似文献

Non-stationary Theory of Resonance Fluorescence for Moving Molecules. II. Highly Resolved Fluorescence Spectroscopy With respect to tke Doppler-effect a formula for the spectral energy density of fluorescence radiation of gases (vapours) generated by resonance scattering of short laser pulses is derived. The spectral energy density consists of a coherent and an incoherent part which differs in a characteristic way. The coherent fluorescence radiation reproduces the spectrum of the laser light. Informations about the homogeneous line widths are obtained only from the incoherent spectra. The results of numerical calculations of highly resolved spectra in forward and backward directions under different conditions are discussed.  相似文献

Spatial Energy Density of the Fluorescence Radiation The time dependence of the spatial energy density of the fluorescence radiation of an ensemble of moving molecules generated by resonance scattering of intense laser pulses is calculated. Particulary the influence of the duration and the intensity of short laser pulses upon the coherent and incoherent part of the fluorescence radiation of a Doppler-broadened gas is studied. Fluorescence Quenching to Study Protein-ligand Binding: Common Errors   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A number of recent articles, amongst others several published in the Journal of Fluorescence, use inappropriate fluorescence methodology to determine ligand binding characteristics to (mostly) proteins. In this Letter, several common pitfalls are discussed in relation to two recent publications in the Journal of Fluorescence (Wang et al. (2009) 19:801–808; Ding et al. (2009) 19:783–791). The Author hopes that this contribution helps to prevent a further spread of the incorrect methodology, and results in a reappraisal of those articles already published using similar methodology.  相似文献
