In this paper, we study the properties of the penalized Fischer-Burmeister (FB) second-order cone (SOC) complementarity function. We show that the function possesses similar desirable properties of the FB SOC complementarity function for local convergence; for example, with the function the second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP) can be reformulated as a (strongly) semismooth system of equations, and the corresponding nonsmooth Newton method has local quadratic convergence without strict complementarity of solutions. In addition, the penalized FB merit function has bounded level sets under a rather weak condition which can be satisfied by strictly feasible monotone SOCCPs or SOCCPs with the Cartesian R 01-property, although it is not continuously differentiable. Numerical results are included to illustrate the theoretical considerations.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the second-order cone complementarity problem with P 0-property. By introducing a smoothing parameter into the Fischer-Burmeister function, we present a smoothing Newton method for the second-order cone complementarity problem. The proposed algorithm solves only a linear system of equations and performs only one line search at each iteration. At the same time, the algorithm does not have restrictions on its starting point and has global convergence. Under the assumption of nonsingularity, we establish the locally quadratic convergence of the algorithm without strict complementarity condition. Preliminary numerical results show that the algorithm is promising.  相似文献

A new smoothing function is given in this paper by smoothing the symmetric perturbed Fischer-Burmeister function. Based on this new smoothing function, we present a smoothing Newton method for solving the second-order cone optimization (SOCO). The method solves only one linear system of equations and performs only one line search at each iteration. Without requiring strict complementarity assumption at the SOCO solution, the proposed algorithm is shown to be globally and locally quadratically convergent. Numerical results demonstrate that our algorithm is promising and comparable to interior-point methods.  相似文献

In this paper, a new smoothing function is given by smoothing the symmetric perturbed Fischer-Burmeister function. Based on this function, a smoothing Newton algorithm is proposed for solving the monotone second-order cone complementarity problems. The global and local quadratic convergence results of the algorithm are established under suitable assumptions. The theory of Euclidean Jordan algebras is a basic tool which is extensively used in our analysis. Numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm is effective.  相似文献

In this paper we present a duality approach for finding a robust best approximation from a set involving interpolation constraints and uncertain inequality constraints in a Hilbert space that is immunized against the data uncertainty using a nonsmooth Newton method. Following the framework of robust optimization, we assume that the input data of the inequality constraints are not known exactly while they belong to an ellipsoidal data uncertainty set. We first show that finding a robust best approximation is equivalent to solving a second-order cone complementarity problem by establishing a strong duality theorem under a strict feasibility condition. We then examine a nonsmooth version of Newton’s method and present their convergence analysis in terms of the metric regularity condition.  相似文献

The second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP) is an important class of problems containing a lot of optimization problems. The SOCCP can be transformed into a system of nonsmooth equations. To solve this nonsmooth system, smoothing techniques are often used. Fukushima, Luo and Tseng (SIAM J. Optim. 12:436–460, 2001) studied concrete theories and properties of smoothing functions for the SOCCP. Recently, a practical computational method using the smoothed natural residual function to solve the SOCCP was given by Chen, Sun and Sun (Comput. Optim. Appl. 25:39–56, 2003). In the present paper, we propose an algorithm to solve the SOCCP by using the smoothed Fischer-Burmeister function. Some preliminary numerical results are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the stochastic second-order cone complementarity problems (SSOCCP). We first formulate the SSOCCP contained expectation as an optimization problem using the so-called second-order cone complementarity function. We then use sample average approximation method and smoothing technique to obtain the approximation problems for solving this reformulation. In theory, we show that any accumulation point of the global optimal solutions or stationary points of the approximation problems are global optimal solution or stationary point of the original problem under suitable conditions. Finally, some numerical examples are given to explain that the proposed methods are feasible.  相似文献

The circular cone programming (CCP) problem is to minimize or maximize a linear function over the intersection of an affine space with the Cartesian product of circular cones. In this paper, we study nondegeneracy and strict complementarity for the CCP, and present a nonmonotone smoothing Newton method for solving the CCP. We reformulate the CCP as a second-order cone programming (SOCP) problem using the algebraic relation between the circular cone and the second-order cone. Then based on a one parametric class of smoothing functions for the SOCP, a smoothing Newton method is developed for the CCP by adopting a new nonmonotone line search scheme. Without restrictions regarding its starting point, our algorithm solves one linear system of equations approximately and performs one line search at each iteration. Under mild assumptions, our algorithm is shown to possess global and local quadratic convergence properties. Some preliminary numerical results illustrate that our nonmonotone smoothing Newton method is promising for solving the CCP.  相似文献

The mixed complementarity problem can be reformulated as a nonsmooth equation by using the median operator. In this paper, we first study some useful properties of this reformulation and then derive the Chen-Harker-Kanzow-Smale smoothing function for the mixed complementarity problem. On the basis of this smoothing function, we present a smoothing Newton method for solving the mixed complementarity problem. Under suitable conditions, the method exhibits global and quadratic convergence properties. We also present a smoothing Broyden-like method based on the same smoothing function. Under appropriate conditions, the method converges globally and superlinearly.  相似文献

The nonlinear complementarity problem can be reformulated as a nonsmooth equation. In this paper we propose a new smoothing Newton algorithm for the solution of the nonlinear complementarity problem by constructing a new smoothing approximation function. Global and local superlinear convergence results of the algorithm are obtained under suitable conditions. Numerical experiments confirm the good theoretical properties of the algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper, the second-order cone complementarity problem is studied. Based on the Fischer–Burmeister function with a perturbed parameter, which is also called smoothing parameter, a regularization smoothing Newton method is presented for solving the sequence of regularized problems of the second-order cone complementarity problem. Under proper conditions, the global convergence and local superlinear convergence of the proposed algorithm are obtained. Moreover, the local superlinear convergence is established without strict complementarity conditions. Preliminary numerical results suggest the effectiveness of the algorithm.  相似文献

A new smoothing function similar with the well known Fischer-Burmeister function is given. Based on this new function, a smoothing-type Newton method is proposed for solving second-order cone programming. At each iteration, the proposed algorithm solves only one system of linear equations and performs only one line search. This algorithm can start from an arbitrary point and it is Q-quadratically convergent under a mild assumption. Preliminary numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.  相似文献

The complementarity problem is theoretically and practically useful, and has been used to study and formulate various equilibrium problems arising in economics and engineerings. Recently, for solving complementarity problems, various equivalent equation formulations have been proposed and seem attractive. However, such formulations have the difficulty that the equation arising from complementarity problems is typically nonsmooth. In this paper, we propose a new smoothing Newton method for nonsmooth equations. In our method, we use an approximation function that is smooth when the approximation parameter is positive, and which coincides with original nonsmooth function when the parameter takes zero. Then, we apply Newton's method for the equation that is equivalent to the original nonsmooth equation and that includes an approximation parameter as a variable. The proposed method has the advantage that it has only to deal with a smooth function at any iteration and that it never requires a procedure to decrease an approximation parameter. We show that the sequence generated by the proposed method is globally convergent to a solution, and that, under semismooth assumption, its convergence rate is superlinear. Moreover, we apply the method to nonlinear complementarity problems. Numerical results show that the proposed method is practically efficient.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a class of mathematical programs governed by second-order cone constrained parameterized generalized equations. We reformulate the necessary optimality conditions as a system of nonsmooth equations under linear independence constraint qualification and the strict complementarity condition. A set of second order sufficient conditions is proposed, which is proved to be sufficient for the second order growth of the stationary point. The smoothing Newton method in [40] is employed to solve the system of nonsmooth equations whose strongly BD-regularity at a solution point is demonstrated under the second order sufficient conditions. Several illustrative examples are provided and discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, the global and superlinear convergence of smoothing Newton method for solving nonsmooth operator equations in Banach spaces are shown. The feature of smoothing Newton method is to use a smooth function to approximate the nonsmooth mapping. Under suitable assumptions, we prove that the smoothing Newton method is superlinearly convergent. As an application, we use the smoothing Newton method to solve a constrained optimal control problem.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new smoothing function and show that it is coercive under suitable assumptions. Based on this new function, we propose a smoothing Newton method for solving the second-order cone complementarity problem (SOCCP). The proposed algorithm solves only one linear system of equations and performs only one line search at each iteration. It is shown that any accumulation point of the iteration sequence generated by the proposed algorithm is a solution to the SOCCP. Furthermore, we prove that the generated sequence is bounded if the solution set of the SOCCP is nonempty and bounded. Under the assumption of nonsingularity, we establish the local quadratic convergence of the algorithm without the strict complementarity condition. Numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm is promising.  相似文献

For a KKT point of the linear semidefinite programming (SDP), we show that the nonsingularity of the B-subdifferential of Fischer-Burmeister (FB) nonsmooth system, the nonsingularity of Clarke’s Jacobian of this system, and the primal and dual constraint nondegeneracies, are all equivalent. Also, each of these conditions is equivalent to the nonsingularity of Clarke’s Jacobian of the smoothed counterpart of FB nonsmooth system, which particularly implies that the FB smoothing Newton method may attain the local quadratic convergence without strict complementarity assumption. We also report numerical results of the FB smoothing method for some benchmark problems.  相似文献
