Complex Systems Science aims to understand concepts like complexity, self‐organization, emergence and adaptation, among others. The inherent fuzziness in complex systems definitions is complicated by the unclear relation among these central processes: does self‐organisation emerge or does it set the preconditions for emergence? Does complexity arise by adaptation or is complexity necessary for adaptation to arise? The inevitable consequence of the current impasse is miscommunication among scientists within and across disciplines. We propose a set of concepts, together with their possible information‐theoretic interpretations, which can be used to facilitate the Complex Systems Science discourse. Our hope is that the suggested information‐theoretic baseline may promote consistent communications among practitioners, and provide new insights into the field. A modification of the material law associated with the well‐known Biot system as suggested by Murad and Cushman (Int. J. Eng. Sci. 1996; 34(3):313–338) and first investigated by Showalter (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 2000; 251(1):310–340) is reconsidered, generalized and analysed in the light of a new approach to a comprehensive class of evolutionary problems. The framework allows a uniform approach to problems involving general anisotropic, inhomogeneous, non‐smooth media thus covering, for example, transmission problems in layered materials. We investigate further the existence question regarding optimal (v, 4, 2, 1) optical orthogonal codes begun in Momihara and Buratti (IEEE Trans Inform Theory 55:514–523, 2009). In this paper we extend a result by Bourgain-Lindenstrauss-Milman (see [1]). We prove: Let 0 < ? < 1/2, 0< r < 1, r< p < 2. There exists a constant C = C(r,p,?) such that if X is any n-dimensional subspace of Lp(0, l), then there exists Y ? ?Nr with d(X, Y) ≦ 1 + ?, whenever N > Cn. In detail, we consider the concurrence of experimental data with the results of calculations in accordance with formulas we previously derived for a real gas. We formulate the energy redistribution law following from the occurrence of dimers. We state a theorem on the two-dimensional condensate for any gas and describe the process of transition to equilibrium thermodynamics as the pressure under the piston increases.  相似文献

Generalized Steiner systems GS (3, 4, v, 2) were first discussed by Etzion and used to construct optimal constant weight codes over an alphabet of size three with minimum Hamming distance three, in which each codeword has length v and weight four. Not much is known for GS (3, 4, v, 2)s except for a recursive construction and two small designs for v = 8,10 given by Etzion. In this paper, more small designs are found by computer search and also given are direct constructions based on finite fields and rotational Steiner quadruple systems and recursive constructions using three-wise balanced designs. We give a survey of some known results related to combinatorial and geometric properties of finite-order invariants of knots in a three-dimensional space. We study the relationship between Vassiliev invariants and some classical numerical invariants of knots and point out the role of surfaces in the investigation of these invariants. We also consider combinatorial and geometric properties of essential tori in standard position in closed braid complements by using the braid foliation technique developed by Birman, Menasco, and other authors.
