The effect of hydrochloric acid and salts from the sample on the solubility of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) in aqueous phase and the effect of hydrochloric acid concentration on the MIBK extraction of iron(III) and gold(III) were studied. As a result, an improved method by flame atomic absorption sepctrometry for determination of silver and gold in copper intermediates was developed, employing a more efficient removal of iron and special standards depending upon the concentration of salts introduced by different samples.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of tellurium at nanogram levels in rocks and in other complex materials by the use of flameless atomic-absorption spectroscopy. A very selective organic extraction procedure is applied to avoid matrix interference effects during extraction of Te and the atomization stage in the graphite furnace. Prior separation of iron and other interfering elements is achieved by a combined cupferron-ethyl acetate extraction. Tellerium is extracted from 6M hydrochloric acid with MIBK and stripped into aqueous medium. Pipetting of the aqueous extract into the graphite furnace gives fairly good instrumental reproducibility (2-3% error). Detection limits of about 10 ppM Te for a 0.5-g sample have been achieved with the medium-performance apparatus used. Results for Te in some geochemical reference materials are reported. Indications are given for the determination of Sb and Mo in the same solutions.  相似文献

The solvent extraction behaviour of zinc from aqueous hydrochloric acid solutions using trilaurylamine N-oxide in toluene has been studied. The distribution ratios have been studied as a function of concentration of acid and extractant. The effects of foreign agents such as nitrate, sulphate, chloride, acetate, citrate, oxalate, and ascorbic acid on the extraction of zinc from hydrochloric acid solution are also determined.  相似文献

A continuous hydride-generation atomic-absorption spectrometric method for determining approximately 0.02 mug/g or more of antimony in ores, concentrates, rocks, soils and sediments is described. The method involves the reduction of antimony(V) to antimony(III) by heating with hypophosphorous acid in a 4.5M hydrochloric acid-tartaric acid medium and its separation by filtration, if necessary, from any elemental arsenic, selenium and tellurium produced during the reduction step. Antimony is subsequently separated from iron, lead, zinc, tin and various other elements by a single cyclohexane extraction of its xanthate complex from approximately 4.5M hydrochloric acid/0.2M sulphuric acid in the presence of ascorbic acid as a reluctant for iron(III). After the extract is washed, if necessary, with 10% hydrochloric acid-2% thiourea solution to remove co-extracted copper, followed by 4.5M hydrochloric acid to remove residual iron and other elements, antimony(III) in the extract is oxidized to antimony(V) with bromine solution in carbon tetrachloride and stripped into dilute sulphuric acid containing tartaric acid. Following the removal of bromine by evaporation of the solution, antimony(V) is reduced to antimony(III) with potassium iodide in approximately 3M hydrochloric acid and finally determined by hydride-generation atomic-absorption spectrometry at 217.8 nm with sodium borohydride as reluctant. Interference from platinum and palladium, which are partly co-extracted as xanthates under the proposed conditions, is eliminated by complexing them with thiosemicarbazide during the iodide reduction step. Interference from gold is avoided by using a 3M hydrochloric acid medium for the hydride-generation step. Under these conditions gold forms a stable iodide complex.  相似文献

A rock, soil, or stream-sediment sample is decomposed with hydrofluoric acid, aqua regia, and hydrobromic acid-bromine solution. Gold, thallium, indium and tellurium are separated and concentrated from the sample digest by a two-step MIBK extraction at two concentrations of hydrobromic add. Gold and thallium are first extracted from 0.1M hydrobromic acid medium, then indium and tellurium are extracted from 3M hydrobromic acid in the presence of ascorbic acid to eliminate iron interference. The elements are then determined by flame atomic-absorption spectrophotometry. The two-step solvent extraction can also be used in conjunction with electrothermal atomic-absorption methods to lower the detection limits for all four metals in geological materials.  相似文献

The sample is digested with a solution of hydrobromic acid and bromine and the excess of bromine is expelled. After dilution of the solution to approximately 3 M in hydrobromic acid, ascorbic acid is added to reduce iron(III) before extraction of tellurium into methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK). An oxidizing air-acetylene flame is used to determine tellurium in the 0.1–20 ppm range. For samples containing 4–200 ppb of tellurium, a carbon-rod atomizer is used after the MIBK extract has been washed with 0.5 M hydrobromic acid to remove the residual iron. The flame procedure is useful for rapid preliminary monitoring, and the flameless procedure can determine tellurium at very low concentrations.  相似文献

Trace quantities of silver in commercial nickel and its alloys are quantitatively extracted from 10% hydrochloric acid medium containing 2% ascorbic acid and 9% potassium iodide by a 5% solution of tri-n-octylphosphine oxide in 4-methylpentan-2-one (MIBK). The MIBK-extract containing the silver is then nebulized directly into an atomic-absorption flame. The sensitivity for the determination of silver in MIBK is about 6 times that for aqueous media. The proposed technique is accurate, rapid, and has a standard deviation of +/- 0.025 ppm at the 1 ppm level. The limit of detection is 0.2 ppm of silver. The method is also applicable to a number of elements in aluminium- and iron-base alloys.  相似文献

A method for determining approximately 0.5, mug/g or more of cobalt, nickel and lead and approximately 3 mug/g or more of bismuth and indium in ores, soils and related materials is described. After sample decomposition and dissolution of the salts in dilute hydrochloric-tartaric acid solution, iron(III) is reduced with ascorbic acid and the resultant iron(II) is complexed with ammonium fluoride. Cobalt, nickel, lead, bismuth and indium are subsequently separated from iron, aluminium, zinc and other matrix elements by a triple chloroform extraction of their xanthate complexes at pH 2.00 +/- 0.05. After the removal of chloroform by evaporation and the destruction of the xanthates with nitric and perchloric acids, the solution is evaporated to dryness and the individual elements are ultimately determined in a 20% v/v hydrochloric acid medium containing 1000 mug/ml potassium by atomic-absorption spectrometry with an air-acetylene flame. Co-extraction of arsenic and antimony is avoided by volatilizing them as the bromides during the decomposition step. Small amounts of co-extracted molybdenum, iron and copper do not interfere.  相似文献

The extraction properties of the sulphide podand 1,12-di-2-thienyl-2,5,8,11-tetrathiadodecane (TTD), an open-chain neutral polythioether with six sulphur donor atoms in 1,2-dichloroethane, chloroform and MIBK for Pd and Au in hydrochloric, nitric and perchloric acid media have been examined. The kinetic aspects of the extraction of palladium(II) from hydrochloric acid by TTD and dioctyl sulphide (DOS) were compared. The rate of Pd extraction with TTD is considerably higher than that with DOS, especially with chloroform. Combined use of a reducing agent and TTD enhances the extraction of gold(III) into 1,2-dichloroethane.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of uranium by fluorimetry and spectrophotometry in samples of natural non-saline waters. After acidification with hydrochloric acid, the water sample is filtered and, following the addition of ascorbic acid and potassium thiocyanate, passed through a column of the strongly basic anion-exchange resin Dowex 1-X8 (thiocyanate form). On this exchanger uranium is adsorbed as an anionic thiocyanate complex. After removal of iron and other coadsorbed elements by washing first with a mixture consisting of 50 vol.% tetrahydrofuran, 40 vol.% methyl glycol and 10 vol.% 6 M hydrochloric acid, and then with pure aqueous 6 M hydrochloric acid, the uranium is eluted with 1 M hydrochloric acid. In the eluate, uranium is determined fluorimetrically or by means of the spectrophotometric arsenazo III method. The procedure was used for the routine determination of uranium in water samples collected in Austria.  相似文献

Solvent extraction with hydroxamic acids has been investigated. with comparison of aliphatic and aromatic reagents for the extraction of iron, copper, cobalt and nickel. Caprylohydroxamic acid has been evaluated for use in extraction systems for titanium, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum and uranium, both in terms of acidity of aqueous phase and oxidation state of the metal. It has been established that caprylohydroxamic acid in 1-hexanol is a suitable extractant for the removal of titanium(IV), vanadium(V), chromium(VI), molybdenum(VI) and uranium(VI) from 6M hydrochloric acid.  相似文献

Chromium in steel is determined by oxidation to dichromate, extraction into methyl isobutyl ketone from 1-3 M hydrochloric acid, and atomic-absorption measurements on the extract. The interference of iron in the atomic absorption is eliminated by using fluoride to keep the iron(III) in the aqueous phase in the extraction step.  相似文献

A method for determining 0.001-0.10% of aluminium in molybdenum and tungsten metals is described. After sample dissolution, aluminium is separated from the matrix materials by chloroform extraction of its acetylacetone complex, at pH 6.5, from an ammonium acetate-hydrogen peroxide medium, then back-extracted into 12M hydrochloric add. Following separation of most co-extracted elements, except for beryllium and small amounts of chroinium(III) and copper(II), by a combined ammonium pyrrolidincdithiocarbamate-cupfen-on-chlorofonn extraction, aluminium is determined spectrophotometrically with Pyrocatechol Violet at 578 nm. Chromium interferes during colour development but beryllium, in amounts equivalent to the aluminium concentration, does not cause significant error in the results. Interference from copper(II) is eliminated by reduction with ascorbic acid. The proposed method is also applicable to iron, steel, ferrovanadium, and copper-base alloys after preliminary removal of the matrix elements by a mercury cathode separation.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of beryllium in geological and industrial samples. After dissolution of the sample in mineral acids, beryllium is separated from the matrix elements by chloroform extraction of its acetylacetonate from a solution of pH 7 containing ascorbic acid and EDTA. Beryllium is separated from the organic extract and from co-extracted aluminium by means of a column of the strongly acidic cation-exchanger Dowex 50; beryllium is adsorbed from a medium consisting of 60 % (v/v) tetrahydrofuran, 30 % (v/v) chloroform and 10 % (v/v) methanol containing hydrochloric acid, aluminium is removed with 0.4 M oxalic acid and after elution with 6 M hydrochloric acid, beryllium is determined by atomic-absorption spectrometry with a nitrous oxide-acetylene flame. The method was used to determine p.p.m. and sub-p.p.m. quantities of beryllium in geochemical reference materials, U3O3 and yellow cake samples, and manganese nodules.  相似文献

The four nerve agent degradation products methylphosphonic acid (MPA), ethyl methylphosphonic acid (EMPA), isopropyl methylphosphonic acid (IMPA) and cyclohexyl methylphosphonic acid (CMPA) have been successfully extracted from aqueous sample solution by ion-pair liquid-liquid-liquid microextraction. In this procedure, the target analytes in the sample solution were converted into their ion-pair complexes with tri-n-butyl amine and then extracted by an organic solvent (1-octanol) layer on top of the sample solution. Simultaneously, the analytes were back-extracted into a drop of an aqueous acceptor solution which was suspended in the organic phase at a microsyringe needle tip. The factors influential to extraction: type of organic solvent, type of ion-pair reagent and its concentration, pH values of sample solution and acceptor aqueous phase, stirring rate and extraction time were investigated in detail. After extraction, the drop of the acceptor solution was withdrawn into the syringe and injected into a capillary electrophoresis system for analysis. Using contactless conductivity detection, direct quantification of these compounds is possible. Moreover, large-volume sample injection was employed for further preconcentration. Improvements in the limits of detection between 2.5 and 4 orders of magnitude could be achieved and concentrations at the ng/mL level can be determined. This newly established approach was successfully applied to a spiked river water sample.  相似文献

Methods for determining ~ 0.2 mug g or more of silver and cadmium, ~ 0.5 mug g or more of copper and ~ 5 mug g or more of antimony, bismuth and indium in ores, concentrates and related materials are described. After sample decomposition and recovery of antimony and bismuth retained by lead and calcium sulphates, by co-precipitation with hydrous ferric oxide at pH 6.20 +/- 0.05, iron(III) is reduced to iron(II) with ascorbic acid, and antimony, bismuth, copper, cadmium and indium are separated from the remaining matrix elements by a single methyl isobutyl ketone extraction of their iodides from ~2M sulphuric acid-0.1M potassium iodide. The extract is washed with a sulphuric acid-potassium iodide solution of the same composition to remove residual iron and co-extracted zinc, and the extracted elements are stripped from the extract with 20% v v nitric acid-20% v v hydrogen peroxide. Alternatively, after the removal of lead sulphate by filtration, silver, copper, cadmium and indium can be extracted under the same conditions and stripped with 40% v v nitric acid-25% v v hydrochloric acid. The strip solutions are treated with sulphuric and perchloric acids and ultimately evaporated to dry ness. The individual elements are determined in a 24% v v hydrochloric acid medium containing 1000 mug of potassium per ml by atomic-absorption spectrophotometry with an air-acetylene flame. Tin, arsenic and molybdenum are not co-extracted under the conditions above. Results obtained for silver, antimony, bismuth and indium in some Canadian certified reference materials by these methods are compared with those obtained earlier by previously published methods.  相似文献

A method for determining approximately 0.2 microg/g or more of germanium in ores, concentrates, zinc-processing products and related materials is described. The sample is decomposed by fusion with sodium peroxide and the cooled melt is dissolved in dilute sulphuric acid. Silica, if > 50 mg, is removed by volatilization with hydrofluoric acid. Germanium is separated from sodium salts by co-precipitation with hydrous ferric oxide, the precipitate is dissolved in 3M hydrochloric acid and germanium is subsequently separated from iron(III) and other co-precipitated elements by a single heptane extraction of germanium tetrachloride from approximately 9.4M hydrochloric acid. The extract is washed with 12M hydrochloric acid to remove residual iron(III), then germanium is stripped with water and determined spectrophotometrically with phenylfluorone in a 1.4M hydrochloric acid-0.002M cetyltrimethylammonium bromide medium in the presence of ascorbic acid as a reductant for co-extracted chlorine. The apparent molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.71 x 10(4) l.mole(-1).mm(-1) at 507 nm, the wavelength of maximum absorption. Up to 5 mg of tin(IV), 10 mg of antimony(V) and tungsten(VI) and approximately 50 mg of silica do not interfere. Germanium values are given for some Canadian certified reference ores, concentrates and iron-formation samples and for a metallurgical dust.  相似文献

Bauxites can be decomposed by condensed phosphoric acid (CPA) very rapidly without the need for subsequent manipulations such as elimination of silica, digestion of fused products and filtration. It is best to heat the samples at about 700 degrees prior to the decomposition, to prevent them from floating on the surface of the CPA. Under the proposed conditions (100 mg of sample, 10 g of CPA, heating at 300 degrees for 30 min), aluminium, iron and titanium are dissolved quantitatively. Iron is determined by photometry with 1,10-phenanthroline after solvent extraction with MIBK, while titanium is determined with N-benzoyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA). The effect of phosphate on the determination of titanium is reduced to a minimum at a BPHA concentration of 0.3% and a hydrochloric acid concentration of 7.2M. Aluminium and iron are precipitated quantitatively as the oxinates at pH 5.5 in the presence of orthophosphoric acid or hydrolysed CPA, while the precipitation of titanium oxinate is completely suppressed by the addition of hydrogen peroxide. The total amount of aluminium and iron is obtained by determining the amount of oxine by bromination method. The amount of aluminium is obtained by subtracting the amount of iron from the sum of the two.  相似文献

An indirect atomic-absorption method for arsenic has been developed. Arsenic(III) is oxidized to arsenic(V) by iodine, then arsenomolybdic acid is formed and extracted into MIBK from 0.2-1.6M hydrochloric acid. Excess of molybdate is scrubbed from the organic phase, and then the molybdenum in the heteropoly acid is determined by its atomic absorption at 313.3 nm. Silicate and phosphate interfere. A procedure is described for determination of ppM levels of arsenic in water.  相似文献
