Recently,the notion of non-standard Lagrangians was discussed widely in literature in an attempt to explore the inverse variational problem of nonlinear differential equations.Different forms of non-standard Lagrangians were introduced in literature and have revealed nice mathematical and physical properties.One interesting form related to the inverse variational problem is the logarithmic Lagrangian,which has a number of motivating features related to the Li′enard-type and Emden nonlinear differential equations.Such types of Lagrangians lead to nonlinear dynamics based on non-standard Hamiltonians.In this communication,we show that some new dynamical properties are obtained in stellar dynamics if standard Lagrangians are replaced by Logarithmic Lagrangians and their corresponding non-standard Hamiltonians.One interesting consequence concerns the emergence of an extra pressure term,which is related to the gravitational field suggesting that gravitation may act as a pressure in a strong gravitational field.The case of the stellar halo of the Milky Way is considered.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that, for a certain class of Lagrangians, which includes those for the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) hierarchy, the Hamiltonian structure provided by the Hamilton-Cartan formalism is precisely the one discovered by Gardner for the KdV equation. A simple geometric relation between the Cartan 2-forms for this class of Lagrangians and the Cartan 1-forms for the associated stationary problems is given. This relation provides a new proof of the theorem of Bogoyavlenski-Novikov and Gel'fand-Dikii on the integrability of the stationary Korteweg-de Vries equations.Research supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

Using Rindler method we derive the logarithmic correction to the entanglement entropy of a two dimensional BMS-invariant field theory (BMSFT). In particular, we present a general formula for extraction of the logarithmic corrections to both the thermal and the entanglement entropies. We also present a CFT formula related to the logarithmic correction of the BTZ inner horizon entropy which results in our formula after taking appropriate limit.  相似文献

The exact formula derived by us earlier for the entropy of a four dimensional nonrotating black hole within the quantum geometry formulation of the event horizon in terms of boundary states of a three dimensional Chern-Simons theory is reexamined for large horizon areas. In addition to the semiclassical Bekenstein-Hawking contribution proportional to the area obtained earlier, we find a contribution proportional to the logarithm of the area together with subleading corrections that constitute a series in inverse powers of the area.  相似文献

Alternative gravitational theories based on Lagrangian densities that depend in a nonlinear way on the Ricci tensor of a metric are considered. It is shown that, provided certain weak regularity conditions are met, any such theory is equivalent, from the Hamiltonian point of view, to the standard Einstein theory for a new metric (which, roughly speaking, coincides with the momentum canonically conjugated to the original metric), interacting with external matterfields whose nature depends on the original Lagrangian density.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the investigation, using the method of Cartan–Laptev, of the differential-geometric structure associated with a Lagrangian L, depending on a function z of the variables t, x 1,...,x n and its partial derivatives. Lagrangians of this kind are considered in theoretical physics (in field theory). Here t is interpreted as time, and x 1,...,x n as spatial variables. The state of the field is characterized by a function z(t, x 1,..., x n ) (a field function) satisfying the Euler equation, which corresponds to the variational problem for the action integral. In the present paper, the variables z(t, x 1,..., x n are regarded as adapted local coordinates of a bundle of general type M with n-dimensional fibers and 1-dimensional base (here the variable t is simultaneously a local coordinate on the base). If we agree to call t time, and a typical fiber an n-dimensional space, then M can be called the spatiotemporal bundle manifold. We consider the variables t, x 1,...,x n , z (i.e., the variables t, x 1,...,x n with the added variable z) as adapted local coordinates in the bundle H over the fibered base M. The Lagrangian L, which is a coefficient in the differential form of the variational action integral in the integrand, is a relative invariant given on the manifold J 1 H (the manifold of 1-jets of the bundle H). In the present paper, we construct a tensor with components Λ00, Λ0i , Λ ij ij = Λ ji ) which is generated by the fundamental object of the structure associated with the Lagrangian. This tensor is an invariant (with respect to admissible transformations the variables t, x 1,...,x n , z) analog of the energy-momentum tensor of the classical theory of physical fields. We construct an invariant I, a vector G i , and a bivalent tensor G jk generated by the Lagrangian. We also construct a relative invariant of E (in the paper, we call it the Euler relative invariant) such that the equation E = 0 is an invariant form of the Euler equation for the variational action integral. For this reason, a nonvariational interpretation of the Euler equation becomes possible. Moreover, we construct a connection in the principal bundle with base J 2 H (the variety of 2-jets of the bundle H) and with the structure group GL(n) generated by the structure associated with the Lagrangian.  相似文献
