Large generation poly(propyl ether imine) (PETIM) dendrimers are synthesized in iterative synthetic cycles of two reductions and two Michael addition reactions. Dendrimers up to sixth generation, containing up to 128 peripheral functionalities, are synthesized. Growth of the PETIM dendrimers, possessing a tertiary amine as the branch juncture and an ether as the linker component, is assessed systematically by routine spectroscopic methods. The peripheries of these dendrimers possess either alcohols, amines, carboxylic acids, esters, or nitriles, thereby opening up possibilities for varied studies involving PETIM dendrimers.  相似文献

In this paper, we report synthesis of new alkyldiphenyl phosphine ligand modified poly(ether imine) dendrimers up to the third generation. The phosphinated dendrimers were obtained by functional group transformations of the alcohols present at the periphery of the dendrimers to chloride, followed by phosphination using LiPPh2. The modification at the peripheries of the dendrimers was performed successfully to obtain up to 16 alkyl diphenylphosphines in the case of a third generation dendrimer, in good yields for each individual step. After phosphination, dendritic ligands were complexed with Pd(COD)Cl2 to give dendritic phosphine-PdII complexes. Both the ligands and the metal complexes were characterized by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques including high-resolution mass spectral analysis for the lower generations. Evaluation of the catalytic efficacies of the dendrimer-PdII metal complexes in mediating a prototypical C-C bond forming reaction, namely the Heck reaction, was performed using various olefin substrates. While the substrate conversion lowered with catalyst in the order from monomer to third generation dendrimer, the second and third generation dendrimers themselves were found to exhibit significantly better catalytic activities than the monomer and the first generation dendrimer.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the synthesis of several poly(propyl ether imine) dendrons and dendrimers. These dendrons and dendrimers were constructed by involving an ether as the linker component and an imine as the branching component. The divergent syntheses of dendrons and dendrimers were established with the aid of two alternate Michael addition reactions and two alternate reduction reactions in a four-step iterative synthetic sequence. Dendrons up to three generations were synthesized and some of the dendrons were attached to a benzenoid core so as to obtain dendrimers up to two generations containing 12 carboxylic acids at the periphery. Divergent synthesis involving ether as the core was found to be more facile, and dendrimers up to three generations having 16 carboxylic acids at the periphery were achieved in good to excellent yields in each individual step. The adopted synthetic sequence allows us to install either alcohol, an amine, or a carboxylic acid at their peripheries. The carboxylic acid-terminated dendrons and dendrimers were evaluated as to their cytotoxic properties, and while most dendrons and dendrimers did not exhibit any measurable cytotoxicity, even up to 100 microg/mL, the second-generation dendrimer with the benzenoid core exhibited a mild toxicity at concentrations above 30 microg/mL.  相似文献

Poly(alkyl aryl ether) dendrimers were utilized to synthesize a series of new triphenylphosphine functionalized dendrimers. Zero, first, second and third generation dendrimers, carrying 3, 6, 12 and 24 triphenylphosphine units, were prepared and characterized. The new triphenylphosphine containing dendrimers were assessed for their reactivity profiles and in this instance, the dendrimers were used as reagents to mediate Mitsunobu etherification reaction between phenol and various primary, secondary and benzylic alcohols. In addition, dendritic poly-phenols were also tested in an O-benzylation reaction. A monomeric methoxy group attached triphenylphosphine acted as a control for comparison of reactivity profiles of dendrimers. It was observed that the etherification reaction was mediated efficiently by the dendritic reagent, and in addition, the dendritic phosphine oxide reagents could be recovered quantitatively by precipitation methods. The recovered dendritic phosphine oxides were reduced subsequently to the corresponding phosphines and used as reagents for the Mitsunobu reaction, repetitively.  相似文献

In order to study the efficiencies of catalytic moieties within and across dendrimer generations, partially and fully functionalized dendrimers were synthesized. Poly(alkyl aryl ether) dendrimers from zero to three generations, presenting 3 to 24 peripheral functionalities, were utilized to prepare as many as 12 catalysts. The dendrimer peripheries were partially and fully functionalized with triphenylphosphine in the first instance. A rhodium(I) metal complexation was performed subsequently to afford multivalent dendritic catalysts, both within and across generations. Upon synthesis, the dendritic catalysts were tested in the hydrogenation of styrene, in a substrate-to-catalyst ratio of 1:0.001. Turn-over-numbers were evaluated for each catalyst, from which significant increases in the catalytic activities were identified for multivalent catalysts than monovalent catalysts, both within and across generations.  相似文献

Hydroxyl group terminated poly(propyl ether imine) dendrimers of 1 to 5 generations absorb in the region of 260-340 nm, in MeOH and aqueous solutions. Excitation of a solution of the dendrimers at 330 nm led to an emission at approximately 390 nm. The emission intensities increased under acidic pH and in more viscous solvents. The presence of air did not affect the emission profiles, as also aging of a dendrimer solution for prolonged periods. Lifetime measurements show at least two species responsible for the emission. Anions perchlorate, periodate, nitrite, and pyridinium methyliodide quenched the fluorescence efficiently, among several anions tested.  相似文献

Poly(alkyl aryl ether) dendrimers were functionalized with bromophenyl groups at their peripheries, so as to have 3, 6, 12, and 24 groups in the zero, first, second, and third generation dendrimers, respectively. The new bromophenyl functionalized dendrimers were assessed for their reactivities in C-heteroatom and C-C bond forming reactions. For this purpose, the bromophenyl functionalized dendrimers were converted quantitatively to their polylithiated derivatives, using n-BuLi in benzene. The polylithiated dendrimers were reacted either with D2O or with CO2, so as to afford the corresponding deuterated and carboxylic acid functionalized dendrimers, respectively. The carboxylic acid functionalized dendrimers were modified further to the methyl esters during their characterization.  相似文献

 The generation of dendrimers based on poly(propylene imine) with CN end groups [DAB–dend–(CN) x ] and with palmitoyl end groups [DAB–dend–(C15) x ] was studied by methods of translational diffusion and viscometry. The volumes of the DAB–dend–(CN) x and DAB–dend–(C15) x dendrimers and the previously studied DAB–dend–(lacto) x dendrimer were compared to evaluate the volumes of the end groups in hybrid dendrimers. The volume of the hybrid dendrimers compared to that of the initial dendrimers increases proportionally to the number of end groups: this means that the end groups are predominantly located on the periphery of each molecule, thus ensuring this volume will increase. It is shown that the volume of the end groups for DAB–dend–(C15) x is 3.5 times greater, and for DAB–dend–(lacto) x it is 5.0 times greater than that occupied by free mole- cules corresponding to the end groups. The values of the intrinsic viscosity were compared with the values of the diffusion coefficient and the chemical formula molecular weight. Received: 7 August 2001 Accepted: 2 November 2001  相似文献

We study the complexation of nontoxic, native poly(propyl ether imine) dendrimers with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The interaction was monitored by measuring the quenching of inherent fluorescence of the dendrimer. The dendrimer-nanotube binding also resulted in the increased electrical resistance of the hole doped SWNT, due to charge-transfer interaction between dendrimer and nanotube. This charge-transfer interaction was further corroborated by observing a shift in frequency of the tangential Raman modes of SWNT. We also report the effect of acidic and neutral pH conditions on the binding affinities. Experimental studies were supplemented by all atom molecular dynamics simulations to provide a microscopic picture of the dendrimer-nanotube complex. The complexation was achieved through charge transfer and hydrophobic interactions, aided by multitude of oxygen, nitrogen, and n-propyl moieties of the dendrimer.  相似文献

Two generations of dendritic nanoparticles were prepared, which contain (E)-stilbene or (E,E)-1,4-distyrylbenzene chromophores in the 4 or 8 terminal positions of the propylene imine dendrons. The compounds show a highly efficient photoreactivity. On prolonged irradiation all stilbenoid chromophores were destroyed by oligomerization (crosslinking) and the typical absorption and fluorescence of the chromophores disappeared completely.  相似文献

Poly(alkyl aryl ether) dendrimers of up to four generations composed of a phloroglucinol core, branching components, and pentamethylene spacers are synthesized by a divergent growth methodology. A repetitive synthetic sequence of phenolic O-alkylation and O-benzyl deprotection reactions are adopted for the synthesis of these dendrimers. The peripheries of the dendrimers contain 6, 12, 24, and 48 phenolic hydroxyl groups, either in the protected or unprotected form, for the first, second, third, and fourth generations, respectively. Because of the presence of hydrophilic exterior and relatively hydrophobic interior regions, alkaline aqueous solutions of these dendrimers are able to solubilize an otherwise insoluble pyrene molecule and these supramolecular complexes precipitate upon neutralization of the aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The self-assembly of amphiphilic pyrene-cored poly(aryl ether) dendrimers has been studied. Pyrene excimer emission at 500 nm from the higher generation 6 is observed in KOH aqueous solution at the concentration as low as 1.8 × 10−5 M, while the excimer emission from lower generation 5 could not be detected at 3.5 × 10−5 M. The results indicate that the self-aggregation in higher generation dendrimer takes place more efficiently than in lower generation in aqueous solution.  相似文献

The design, synthesis, and mesomorphic properties of a new series of homodendrimers consisting of the commercially available poly(propylene imine) (PPI) dendrimers (G = 1-5), PPI-(NH(2))(n)() (n = 4, 8, 16, 32, 64), functionalized with a discotic triphenylene moiety are reported. The liquid crystalline behavior was investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarizing-light optical microscopy (POM), and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). All of the homodendrimers showed mesomorphic properties, with the second to fifth generations giving a hexagonal columnar mesophase (Col(h)) and the first generation a rectangular columnar mesophase (Col(r)). The X-ray study reveals that these mesophases show a highly ordered structure with segregation of triphenylenes and dendrimers into separate columns and a regular stacking distance inside the triphenylene columns. GPC analysis showed that the dendrimers had good monodispersity and MALDI-TOF studies of the first three generations gave good evidence that all of the terminal amino groups of the dendrimers were functionalized with a discotic unit.  相似文献

Poly(vinylamine), PVA, complexes with cobalt chloride hexahydrate exhibit a 45 °C enhancement in the glass‐transition temperature per mol % of the d‐block metal cation. Poly(ethylene imine), PEI, complexes with CoCl2(H2O)6 exhibit a 20 °C enhancement in Tg per mol % Co2+. Since the basicities of primary and secondary amines are comparable (i.e., pKb,PVA ≈ 3.34 vs. pKb,PEI ≈ 3.27) and the rates at which each polymeric ligand displaces waters of hydration in the coordination sphere of Co2+ are similar, transition metal compatibilization is operative in blends of both polymers with CoCl2(H2O)6. These two polymers are immiscible in the absence of the inorganic component. Infrared spectroscopy suggests that nitrogen lone pairs in PVA and PEI coordinate to Co2+. The stress–strain response of a 75/25 blend of PVA and PEI with 2 mol % Co2+ reveals a decrease in elastic modulus from 4.4 × 109 N/m2 to 5.7 × 107 N/m2, a decrease in fracture stress from 3.7 × 107 N/m2 to 2.0 × 106 N/m2, and an increase in ultimate strain from 1.3 to 12% relative to the 75/25 immiscible polymer–polymer blend. A plausible explanation for this effect is based on the fact that cobalt chloride hexahydrate compatibilizes both polymers by forming a coordination bridge between nitrogen lone pairs in dissimilar chains. Hence, poly(ethylene imine), which is very weak with a Tg near −40 °C, is integrated into a homogeneous structure with poly(vinylamine) and the mechanical properties of the individual polymers are averaged in the compatibilized ternary complex. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel compound of 9-[3-oxo-1-(4-bromopheny)-3-phenypropyl]fluorine (3) was synthesized via nucleophilic addition reaction under solvent-free condition. Its structure was determined by IR, 1H NMR, MS, elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction. The crystal of the new compound is of triclinic system, space group P-1 with a=9.7919(16), b=11.0932(18), c=11.2534(19) , α=76.927(3), β=67.452(3), γ=84.895(3)°, V=1099.7(3) 3, Z=2, Dc=1.369 g/cm3, μ=1.886 mm-1, F(000)=464, R=0.0586 and wR=0.1562 for 3145 observed reflections with Ⅰ 2σ(Ⅰ). π-π Stacking interactions contribute to the stability of the structure.  相似文献

We examine the influence of cationic poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers on capillary electroseparation–UV analysis of proteins. PAMAMs adsorbing to the capillary surface suppressed the wall‐adsorption of proteins; meanwhile, PAMAMs added to the buffer exhibited selectivity toward proteins. Presence of 3×10?4 g/mL PAMAM generation one (G 1.0) in 30 mM phosphate, at pH 2.6, rendered significant enhancement in separation efficiency; the merged peaks of myoglobin and trypsin inhibitor were separated. Moreover, the protein–dendrimer interactions changed the inherent UV absorbance profiles of proteins. UV–Vis study showed that the absorbance of cytochrome C and transferrin increased at the detection wavelength of 214 nm; their detection sensitivity enhanced by 2.44 and 2.01‐folds, respectively, with addition of 5×10?4 g/mL PAMAM G 1.0.  相似文献

A series of azobenzene-functionalized poly(alkyl aryl ether) dendrimers have been synthesized and their photochemical and photophysical properties in solution and as thin films have been investigated. Although the photochemical behavior of the azodendrimers in solution indicated that the azobenzene units behave independently, very similar to the constituent monomer azobenzene unit, the properties of thin solid films of the dendrimers were distinctly different. The azodendrimers, AzoG1, AzoG2, and AzoG3 were observed to form stable supercooled glasses, which showed long-wavelength absorption and red emission characteristics of J-aggregates of the azobenzene chromophores. Reversible photoinduced isomerization of the azodendrimers in the glassy state is described.  相似文献

Polyelectrolyte behavior of AstramolTM poly(propylene imine) dendrimers of five generations, G1‐G5, namely DAB‐dendr‐(NH2)x (where x is equal to 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64) was studied by means of potentiometric titration in salt‐free water solutions and also in the presence of a shielding low molecular electrolyte (NaCI). In addition to x outer primary amine groups the dendrimer molecule contains x‐2 inner tertiary amine groups.
