We study homogenization in the small period limit for a periodic parabolic Cauchy problem in d and prove that the solutions converge in L 2(d) to the solution of the homogenized problem for each t > 0. We consider a Ginzburg–Landau equation in the interval [–, ], >0, 1, with Neumann boundary conditions, perturbed by an additive white noise of strength We prove that if the initial datum is close to an "instanton" then, in the limit 0+, the solution stays close to some instanton for times that may grow as fast as any inverse power of , as long as the center of the instanton is far from the endpoints of the interval. We prove that the center of the instanton, suitably normalized, converges to a Brownian motion. Moreover, given any two initial data, each one close to an instanton, we construct a coupling of the corresponding processes so that in the limit 0+ the time of success of the coupling (suitably normalized) converges in law to the first encounter of two Brownian paths starting from the centers of the instantons that approximate the initial data.  相似文献

We obtain the analytic expression for the total cross section of the reaction e e +l l + (l=,) taking possible quasianapole interaction effects into account. If S is an H-cone and P:SS is a localizable dilation operator on S (i.e., P is additive increasing, contractive, continuous in order from below and s(Ps+tPt+Pf)S, s,tS,f(SS)+), then it is proved that its adjoint P *:S *S * (i.e., P *=P) is also a localizable dilation operator. We construct a Rankin Selberg integral to represent the exterior cube L function L(,3,s) of an automorphic cuspidal module of GL6( F ) (where F is a number field). We determine the poles of this L function and find period conditions for the special value L(,3,1/2). We use the Siegal Weil formula. We also state an analogue of the Gross–Prasad conjecture concerning a criterion for the nonvanishing of L(,3,1/2).  相似文献

In a recent paper Ismail et al. (Algebraic Methods and q-Special Functions (J.F. van Diejen and L. Vinet, eds.) CRM Proceding and Lecture Notes, Vol. 22, American Mathematical Society, 1999, pp. 183–200) have established a continuous orthogonality relation and some other properties of a 21-Bessel function on a q-quadratic grid. Dick Askey (private communication) suggested that the Bessel-type orthogonality found in Ismail et al. (1999) at the 21-level has really a general character and can be extended up to the 87-level. Very-well-poised 87-functions are known as a nonterminating version of the classical Askey–Wilson polynomials (SIAM J. Math. Anal. 10 (1979), 1008–1016; Memoirs Amer. Math. Soc. Number 319 (1985)). Askey's conjecture has been proved by the author in J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 30 (1997), 5877–5885. In the present paper which is an extended version of Suslov (1997) we discuss in detail properties of the orthogonal 87-functions. Another type of the orthogonality relation for a very-well-poised 87-function was recently found by Askey et al. J. Comp. Appl. Math. 68 (1996), 25–55.  相似文献

Summary Statistical topography involves the study of the geometrical properties of the iso-sets (contour lines or surfaces) of a random potential (r). Previous work [1,2] has addressed coastlines on a random relief (x, y) that possess a single characteristic spatial scale with topography belonging to the universality class of the random percolation problem. In the present paper this previous analytical approach is extended to the case of a multiscale random function with a power spectrum of scales, H , in a wide range of wavelengths, 0 < < m . It is found that the pattern of the coastline differs significantly from that of a monoscale landscape provided that –3/4 <H < 1, with the case –3/4 <H < 0 corresponding to the long-range correlated percolation and 0 <H < 1 to the fractional Brownian relief. The expression for the fractal dimension of an individual coastline is derived,D h = (10 – 3H)/7, the maximum value of whichD h = 7/4, corresponds to the monoscale relief. The distribution functionF(a) of level lines over their sizea is calculated:F(a) a –4(1-H)/7, for 0 a m . A comparison of the theoretical results with geographical data is presented.  相似文献

Summary The system of equations resulting from a mixed finite element approximation of the first biharmonic boundary value problem is solved by various preconditioned Uzawa-type iterative methods. The preconditioning matrices are based on simple finite element approximations of the Laplace operator and some factorizations of the corresponding matrices. The asymptotic behavior as h0 of the solution of a mixed boundary value problem is investigated for an elliptic (in the sense of Petrovskii) system of second-order differential equations in the n-dimensional cylinder Q h =×(–h/2, h/2) of small altitude h; is a domain in R n –1. The limit problem in contains a small parameter =h , (0, 1), for higher-order derivatives and degenerates regularly, as 0, into an elliptic problem of a lower order. It is shown that the limit problem and its corresponding degenerate problem (=0) are uniquely solvable. An estimate for the difference of solutions of the original and the limit problem in the energy norm is established. We consider an evolution process in a Gaussian random field V(q) with the mean ‹V(q)› = 0 and the correlation function W(|qq|) ‹V(q)V(q)›, where q d and d is the dimension of the Euclidean space d . For the value ‹G(q,t;q 0)›, t > 0, of the Green's function of the evolution equation averaged over all realizations of the random field, we use the Feynman–Kac formula to establish an integral equation that is invariant with respect to a continuous renormalization group. In an attempt to find a q-analogue of Weber and Schafheitlin's integral 0 x J (ax) J (bx) dx which is discontinuous on the diagonal a = b the integral 0 x J (2) (a(1 – q)x; q)J (1) (b(1 – q)x; q) dx is evaluated where J (1) (x; q) and J (2) (x; q) are two of Jackson's three q-Bessel functions. It is found that the question of discontinuity becomes irrelevant in this case. Evaluations of this integral are also made in some interesting special cases. A biorthogonality formula is found as well as a Neumann series expansion for x in terms of J (2) +1+2n ((1 – q)x; q). Finally, a q-Lommel function is introduced.  相似文献

In this paper we consider some properties of indecomposable dispersed order types and estimate the cardinality of the set of distinct indecomposable order types of given rank which can be represented in the form of the product of order types which are not unity.
