We describe the generators of-conformal transformations leaving invariant the-deformed d'Alembert equation. For the case D=4 the algebraic structure of the conformal extension of the off-shell spin zero realization of-Poincaré algebra is discussed. A null 4-vector °, based on Dirac's relativistic electron equation, is shown explicitly for a plane wave and various Coulomb states. This 4-vector constitutes a mechanical model for the electron in those states, and expresses the important spinor quantities represented conventionally byn, f, g, m, j, ,1, ands. The model for a plane wave agrees precisely with the relation between velocity and phase gradient customarily used in quantum theory, but the models for Coulomb states contradict that relation.  相似文献

Betatron oscillations in an accelerator with a general field I
The paper gives a linear theory of equilibrium trajectories in an accelerator with a generalized magnetostatic field, the components of which are defined on a general rotation surface. Equations of motion of the particles in natural coordinates are derived with respect to the change in energy and dissipative force. A system of equilibrium trajectories is found in the general form. Conditions for the field components on the reference surface, necessary for the existence of equilibrium trajectories, for the conservation of their geometric similarities and for maintaining the constancy of the frequencies of the betatron oscillations, are derived. A condition is also derived which must be satisfied by the reference surface in order to conserve constant circular frequency of the particles. It is seen that it is not possible to find a field for an accelerator with an exactly constant circular frequency and with constant frequencies of the betatron oscillation in the relativistic energy region. An ultra-relativistic cyclotron with such properties is realizable.

The theory of double quantum transitions of the M=±2 type, with regard to inhomogeneously broadened spin systems is studied in this paper with the approximation 2T2T3 1. We suppose that the inhomogeneous broadening is formed by an inhomogeneous crystal field. The obtained results describe the magnitude of absorption as a function of the h.f. power and also describe the shape of the absorption curve. It is demonstrated that in inhomogeneously broadened spin systems the absorption curve of double quantum transitions has the form of the difference of two different Lorentz's curves and that at the saturation ( 2T2T1 1) the absorption increases with the cube of the h.f. field intensity. The shape of the curves is expressed by means of phenomenological relaxation constants of the system.

Pairs of gamma quanta, giving a sum equal to the binding energy of the last neutron in a Co60 isotope, were studied during radiation capture on a Co59 nucleus. The energies of the gamma quanta giving such cascades were determined and an attempt was made to determine the relative intensities of the different cascades.

A new theory of rectangular coils without an iron core is described which amends the old one of Fabry and Bitter. It enables us to compute field intensities in coils having very small openings, which the old theory could not do.

In the Yang-Mills formulation of gravitational dynamics based uponSL(2,C) spin transformations acting on Dirac spinors, the vacuum field equations are R +C R = 0 and and . Measurements of the low-temperature specific heatC and thermal conductivity of vitreous silica after heat treatment at temperaturesT a between 900°C and 1,400°C are reported. A decrease ofC and an increase of are observed over the whole temperature range studied (C0.06K<T<6K; 0.5 K<T<20 K). Below 1 K the changes inC and (10%) are attributed to a dependence of the density of tunneling states on the fictive temperature. Measurements of the thermal conductivity show that these changes are reversible, thus strongly supporting the evidence for a connection between the tunneling states and the quasi-equilibrium state which is frozen in when an undercooled liquid drops out of thermal equilibrium. Our results are compared to predictions of the free-volume theory of the glass transition. At higher temperaturesC decreases by roughly the same amount as below 1 K while increases by up to 30%. The dependence ofC and onT a cannot be explained unambigously in terms of a phonon-fraction crossover in the vibrational density of states. The mean square tilt angle of a nematic slab with finite anchoring energy and periodic boundary conditions has been theoretically investigated, as a function of the slab geometry and of the reduced extrapolation length. As a starting point, it is postulated that all particles and fields are built from a single primitive field, which must then be a massless fermion with a spin of one-half. Two helicities are embodied in a spin of one-half. The vacuum is an open Fermi sea whose height is a wave number . Elementary particles are structures having the form of standing-wave systems floating on the vacuum sea, with the height providing both the scale of inner structural size and the mass unit for the elementary particle mass spectrum. A bilocal photon starts with a function describing two primitive quanta with parallel spin and opposite spin. A centroid-time wave equation then couples-in an infinite set of orthogonal functions. The introduction of an operatorQ permits the reduction of the infinite secular determinant to a finite six-by-six determinant. Solutions (for the infinite expansion) are obtained describing photons with right-handed and left-handed polarizations. Superpositions of these give linearly polarized photons. Electric and magnetic field vectors, satisfying the vacuum Maxwell equations, are obtained from a bilocal Hertz vector given by = (2/3 c)(/t r)r(1,2), where (1,2) is the bilocal wave function, and tr and r are the relative time and relative position variables.  相似文献

Nuclear emulsions were used to study the energy spectrum and forward-backward asymmetry of neutrons from the Co59(p,n) reaction forE p 6·5 MeV. It was found that the decay of the compound nucleus makes a maximum contribution of 50% to the reaction yield. Energies of some excited states of the Ni59 nucleus were also determined.

Simultaneous optical and electrical measurements were made to identify 90 switching processes in BaTiO3 crystals, leading to the production of Barkhausen pulses. Most of these pulses are caused by the jerky motion of 90 wedge domains; part of the pulses are produced during the transition of a wedge domain into a domain shaped like a parallelepiped. Four different possibilities of the generation of Barkhausen pulses are given on the basis of the probable change of the depolarization and wall energies as a function of the volume of the wedge-shaped and parallelepiped domain: nucleation, jerky growth of wedge, transition of wedge into parallelepiped and transition of parallelepiped into a new equilibrium state. Two of these cases were observed. Photographs show the domain structure in different phases of the process generating a Barkhausen pulse.

An exact calculation of the frequencies of localized vibrations in a crystal with defects meets with considerable difficulties and therefore only the simplest cases have been calculated [9, 10]. An approximate calculation is confined to computing the frequencies of a system composed of several atoms in the neighbourhood of the defect. The interaction between this system and the other atoms of the lattice, which however are immobile in this approximation, is taken into consideration. Since the analytical estimate of the approximation is very rough, the approximate and exact calculations have been compared for some concrete cases (Fig. 1, 2). It is clear from these calculations that the use of the proposed approximation leads to good results.

In this paper we consider the effect of unitarity bounds sbs(E1+E2) cms 2 for the recently proposed types of nonderivative 4-fermion contact interactions. To this purpose we decompose the helicity amplitudes at c.m.s. into partial waves. The bounds are defined to hold for all reaction channels due to the same type of contact interaction. We find sb=4/. Here is the coupling constant. The factor depends on the type of coupling and on the different cases to identify the fermions. It ranges from 1/3 to 4.  相似文献

A solution of the stress, deformation and deformation energy is given for an edge dislocation with its dislocation line having the shape of a circle in an unlimited isotropic medium. The possibility of using this solution in studying the dislocation loop in a crystal is discussed.

The effect of electrolytically deposited nickel films on the magnetostriction, coercive force, residual induction, and the position with respect to each other of the magnetic susceptibility maxima max. max of specimens of iron-silicon alloy is investigated. It is shown that elastic extensions lead to a reduction in the spacing between the maxima max, max , and for certain loads this spacing disappears and only one maximum is observed.  相似文献
