We study the quasiadditivity property (a version of superadditivity with a multiplicative constant) of variational capacity in metric spaces with respect to Whitney type covers. We characterize this property in terms of a Mazya type capacity condition, and also explore the close relation between quasiadditivity and Hardy’s inequality.  相似文献

We characterize quasiconformal mappings as those homeomorphisms between two metric measure spaces of locally bounded geometry that preserve a class of quasiminimizers. We also consider quasiconformal mappings and densities in metric spaces and give a characterization of quasiconformal mappings in terms of the uniform density property introduced by Gehring and Kelly.  相似文献

In this article, by extending classical Dellacherie's theorem on stochastic sequences to variable exponent spaces, we prove that the famous Burkholder-Gundy-Davis inequality holds for martingales in variable exponent Hardy spaces. We also obtain the variable exponent analogues of several martingale inequalities in classical theory, including convexity lemma, Chevalier's inequality and the equivalence of two kinds of martingale spaces with predictable control. Moreover, under the regular condition on σ-algebra sequence we prove the equivalence between five kinds of variable exponent martingale Hardy spaces.  相似文献

We determine the sharp constant in the Hardy inequality for fractional Sobolev spaces. To do so, we develop a non-linear and non-local version of the ground state representation, which even yields a remainder term. From the sharp Hardy inequality we deduce the sharp constant in a Sobolev embedding which is optimal in the Lorentz scale. In the appendix, we characterize the cases of equality in the rearrangement inequality in fractional Sobolev spaces.  相似文献

In the general atomic setting of an unconditional basis in a (quasi-) Banach space, we show that representing the spaces of m-terms approximation as Lorentz spaces is equivalent to the verification of two inequalities (Jackson and Bernstein), and that the validity of these two properties is equivalent to the Temlyakov property. The proof is very direct and, especially, does not use interpolation theory. We apply this result to establish a representation theorem when the norm of the (quasi-) Banach space is given by a quadratic variation formula (thanks to a condition called the p-reverse inequality). This quadratic variation framework is in fact very rich and contains, as examples, the cases of Hardy spaces. We also consider the cases of "weighted" Hardy and Lebesgue spaces when the weight belongs to a Muckenhoupt class and the basis is a wavelet basis. This provides a new example of bases well adapted to approximation.  相似文献

We study the existence of a set with minimal perimeter that separates two disjoint sets in a metric measure space equipped with a doubling measure and supporting a Poincaré inequality. A measure constructed by De Giorgi is used to state a relaxed problem, whose solution coincides with the solution to the original problem for measure theoretically thick sets. Moreover, we study properties of the De Giorgi measure on metric measure spaces and show that it is comparable to the Hausdorff measure of codimension one. We also explore the relationship between the De Giorgi measure and the variational capacity of order one. The theory of functions of bounded variation on metric spaces is used extensively in the arguments.  相似文献

We define the isoperimetric constant for any locally finite metric space and we study the property of having isoperimetric constant equal to zero. This property, called Small Neighborhood property, clearly extends amenability to any locally finite space. Therefore, we start making a comparison between this property and other notions of amenability for locally finite metric spaces that have been proposed by Gromov, Lafontaine and Pansu, by Ceccherini-Silberstein, Grigorchuk and de la Harpe and by Block and Weinberger. We discuss possible applications of the property SN in the study of embedding a metric space into another one. In particular, we propose three results: we prove that a certain class of metric graphs that are isometrically embeddable into Hilbert spaces must have the property SN. We also show, by a simple example, that this result is not true replacing property SN with amenability. As a second result, we prove that many spaces with uniform bounded geometry having a bi-lipschitz embedding into Euclidean spaces must have the property SN. Finally, we prove a Bourgain-like theorem for metric trees: a metric tree with uniform bounded geometry and without property SN does not have bi-lipschitz embeddings into finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces.  相似文献

We prove a generalization with sharp constants of a classical inequality due to Hardy to Carnot groups of arbitrary step, or more general Carnot–Carathéodory spaces associated with a system of vector fields of Hörmander type. Under a suitable additional assumption (see Eq. 1.6 below) we are able to extend such result to the nonlinear case \(p\not= 2\). We also obtain a sharp inequality of Hardy–Sobolev type.  相似文献

For the asymptotic formula for the Fourier sine transform of a function of bounded variation, we find a new proof entirely within the framework of the theory of Hardy spaces, primarily with the use of the Hardy inequality. We show that, for a function of bounded variation whose derivative lies in the Hardy space, every aspect of the behavior of its Fourier transform can somehow be expressed in terms of the Hilbert transform of the derivative.  相似文献

Density of Lipschitz functions in Newtonian spaces based on quasi-Banach function lattices is discussed. Newtonian spaces are first-order Sobolevtype spaces on abstract metric measure spaces defined via (weak) upper gradients. Our main focus lies on metric spaces with a doubling measure that support a Poincaré inequality. Absolute continuity of the function lattice quasi-norm is shown to be crucial for approximability by (locally) Lipschitz functions. The proof of the density result uses, among other facts, the fact that a suitable maximal operator is locally weakly bounded. In particular, various sufficient conditions for such boundedness on quasi-Banach function lattices (and rearrangement-invariant spaces, in particular) are established and applied.  相似文献

We develop a new approach to formulate and prove the weak uncertainty inequality, which was recently introduced by Okoudjou and Strichartz. We assume either an appropriate measure growth condition with respect to the effective resistance metric, or, in the absence of such a metric, we assume the Poincaré inequality and reverse volume doubling property. We also consider the weak uncertainty inequality in the context of Nash-type inequalities. Our results can be applied to a wide variety of metric measure spaces, including graphs, fractals and manifolds.

In this paper we present some results on selection properties in asymmetric generalized metric and uniform spaces. We demonstrate differences between selection properties of these spaces and selection properties of metric and uniform spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of the set-valued dynamical systems of asymptotic contractions of Meir–Keeler type and set-valued dynamical systems of strict contractions in uniform spaces and we present a method which is useful for establishing conditions guaranteeing the existence and uniqueness of endpoints of these contractions and the convergence to these endpoints of all generalized sequences of iterations of these contractions. The result, concerning the investigations of problems of the set-valued asymptotic fixed point theory, include some well-known results of Meir and Keeler, Kirk and Suzuki concerning the asymptotic fixed point theory of single-valued maps in metric spaces. The result, concerning set-valued strict contractions (in which the contractive coefficient is not constant), is different from the result of Yuan concerning the existence of endpoints of Tarafdar–Vyborny generalized contractions (in which the contractive coefficient is constant) in bounded metric spaces and provides some examples of Tarafdar–Yuan topological contractions in compact uniform spaces. Definitions and results presented here are new for set-valued dynamical systems in uniform, locally convex and metric spaces and even for single-valued maps. Examples show a fundamental difference between our results and the well-known ones.  相似文献

We give a new characterization of the space of functions of bounded variation in terms of a pointwise inequality connected to the maximal function of a measure. The characterization is new even in Euclidean spaces and it holds also in general metric spaces.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to develop the understanding of modulus and the Poincaré inequality, as defined on metric measure spaces. Various definitions for modulus and capacity are shown to coincide for general collections of metric measure spaces. Consequently, modulus is shown to be upper semi-continuous with respect to the limit of a sequence of curve families contained in a converging sequence of metric measure spaces. Moreover, several competing definitions for the Poincaré inequality are shown to coincide, if the underlying measure is doubling. One such characterization considers only continuous functions and their continuous upper gradients, and extends work of Heinonen and Koskela. Applications include showing that the p-Poincaré inequality (with a doubling measure), for p1, persists through to the limit of a sequence of converging pointed metric measure spaces — this extends results of Cheeger. A further application is the construction of new doubling measures in Euclidean space which admit a 1-Poincaré inequality. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000):31C15, 46E35.  相似文献

We define and study Musielak-Orlicz-Sobolev spaces with zero boundary values on any metric space endowed with a Borel regular measure. We extend many classical results, including completeness, lattice properties and removable sets, to Musielak-Orlicz-Sobolev spaces on metric measure spaces. We give sufficient conditions which guarantee that a Sobolev function can be approximated by Lipschitz continuous functions vanishing outside an open set. These conditions are based on Hardy type inequalities.  相似文献
