We obtain the instanton correction recursion relations for the low energy effective prepotential in pure Ν = 2SU(n) supersymmetric Yang-Mills gauge theory from Whitham hierarchy and Seiberg-Witten/Whitham equations. These formulae provide us a powerful tool to calculate arbitrary order instanton corrections coefficients from the perturbative contributions of the effective prepotential in Seiberg-Witten gauge theory. We apply this idea to evaluate one-and two-order instanton corrections coefficients explicitly in SU(n) case in detail through the dynamical scale parameter expressed in terms of Riemann's theta-function.  相似文献

In this paper a gauge theory is proposed for the two-band model of Chern insulators.Based on the so-calle't Hooft monopole model,a U(1)Maxwell electromagnetic sub-field is constructed from an SU(2)gauge field, from which arise two types of topological defects, monopoles and e2 merons. We focus on the topological number in the Hall conductance σxy=e2/hC,where C is the Chern number. It is discovered that in the monopole case C is indeterminate, while in the meron case C takes different values, due to a varying on-site energy m.As a typical example,we apply this method to the square lattice and compute the winding numbers(topological charges)of the defects;the C-evaluations we obtain reproduce the results of the usual literature.Furthermore, based on the gauge theory we propose a new model to obtain the high Chern numbers|C|=2,4.  相似文献

The dynamical breaking of a generalized Yang-Mills theory is discussed. It is shown, in terms of the Nambu Jona-Lasinio mechanism, that the gauge symmetry breaking can be realized dynamically in the generalized Yang-Mills theory. The combination of the generalized Yang-Mills theory and the NJL mechanism provides a way to overcome the difficulties related to the Higgs field and the Higgs mechanism in the usual spontaneous symmetry breaking theory.  相似文献

We derive the one-loop effective action of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in the presence of fermions in the low energy limit. This result is presented by separating the topological degrees, which describe the non-Abelian monopoles from the dynamical degrees of the gauge potential and integrate out all the dynamical degrees and fermions in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory.  相似文献

Assuming that the recently θ+ and other exotic resonances belong to the pentaquark i0 of SU(3)I with J^P = 1/2, we constructed a relativistic effective lagrangian in the frame work of baryon chiral perturbation theory. The masses of pentaquarks under isospin symmetry is determined by calculating the propagator to one loop, where the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme is applied. Using the experimental data for masses of θ+, Ξ and N, we estimated the mass of Σ and the a terms.  相似文献

An analytical solution for symmetric Skyrmion is proposed for the SU(2) Skyrme model, which takes the form of the hybrid form of a kink-like solution, given by the instanton method. The static properties of nucleons is then computed within the framework of collective quantization of the Skyrme model, in a good agreement with that given by the exact numeric solution. The comparisons with the previous results as well as the experimental values are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper, spinor and vector decompositions of SU(2) gauge potential are presented and their equivalence is constructed using a simply proposal. We also obtain the action of Faddeev nonlinear 0(3) sigma model from the SU(2) mass/ve gauge field theory, which is proposed according to the gauge invariant principle. At last, the knot structure in SU(2) Chern-Simons filed theory is discussed in terms of the Φ-mapping topological current theory, The topological charge of the knot is characterized by the Hopf indices and the Brouwer degrees of Φ-mapping.  相似文献

Generation of neutrino mass in SO(4) model is proposed here. The algebraic structure of SO (4) is same as to that ofSU(2)L x SU(2)R. It is shown that the spontaneous symmetry breaking results three massive as well as three massless gauge bosons. The standard model theory according to which there exist three massive gauge bosons and a massless one is emerged from this model. In the framework ofSU(2)L x SU(2)R a small Dirac neutrino mass is derived. It is also shown that such mass term may vanish with a special choice. The Majorana mass term is not considered here and thus in this model the neutrino mass does not follow seesaw structure.  相似文献

By using C-mapping topological current theory and gauge potential decomposition, we discuss the self-dual equation and its solution in the SU(N) Dunne-Jackiw-Pi-Trugenberger model and obtain a new concrete self-dual equation with a δ function. For the SU(3) case, we obtain a new self-duality solution and find the relationship between the soliton solution and topological number which is determined by the Hopf index and Brouwer degree of C-mapping. In our solution, the flux of this soliton is naturally quantized.  相似文献

We prove by topological methods methods that in the context of SU(2) gauge theory the integers labelling the homotopy classes of Yang-Mills and Higgs fields are equal for periodic instanton and dyon configurations. A similar statement is true for the group SO(3) and, in the periodic instanton case, whenever a simply connected group is broken down to an abelian subgroup. We briefly discuss how the result goes over to the canonically quantized theory.  相似文献

We discuss some properties of the (instanton—anti-instanton) solution of the SU(2) gauge theory with a massless Higgs doublet recently found by Lipatov, Bukhvostov and Malkov.  相似文献

We parametrize the q-instanton solutions of an SU(2) gauge theory in terms of the positions of 2q constituent particles or “instanton quarks”. Explicit computations of lowest order quantum fluctuations about the q = 1 and q = 2 solutions show that the short-distance interaction between instanton quark pairs is logarithmic. Extending these interactions to arbitrary q, we describe the multi-instanton gas as a plasma of instanton quarks.  相似文献

The classical Yang-Mills equation of motion is numerically investigated in the Lorentz gauge for a SU(2) gauge group. The color-electric field of two point-like charges is studied in the “empty” vacuum and in a state with an instanton present. The major effect for a fixed orientation of the instanton is that the color-electric field lines are expelled or attracted from the instanton region depending on the orientation of the instanton. If over the orientations of the instanton is averaged, this effect drops out. In this case of a random instanton orientation, we find that the external color-electric field is expelled from the instanton core. The origin of this effect is discussed. We compute the axial anomaly of a Lifshitz fermion theory with anisotropic scaling z = 3 which is minimally coupled to geometry in 3+1 space‐time dimensions. We find that the result is identical to the relativistic case using path integral methods. An independent verification is provided by showing with spectral methods that the η‐invariant of the Dirac and Lifshitz fermion operators in three dimensions are equal. Thus, by the integrated form of the anomaly, the index of the Dirac operator still accounts for the possible breakdown of chiral symmetry in non‐relativistic theories of gravity. We apply this framework to the recently constructed gravitational instanton backgrounds of Hořava–Lifshitz theory and find that the index is non‐zero provided that the space‐time foliation admits leaves with harmonic spinors. Using Hitchin's construction of harmonic spinors on Berger spheres, we obtain explicit results for the index of the fermion operator on all such gravitational instanton backgrounds with SU(2) × U(1) isometry. In contrast to the instantons of Einstein gravity, chiral symmetry breaking becomes possible in the unimodular phase of Hořava–Lifshitz theory arising at λ = 1/3 provided that the volume of space is bounded from below by the ratio of the Ricci to Cotton tensor couplings raised to the third power. Some other aspects of the anomalies in non‐relativistic quantum field theories are also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that over an asymptotically locally flat (ALF) Riemannian four-manifold the energy of an “admissible” SU(2) Yang–Mills instanton is always integer. This result sharpens the previously known energy identity for such Yang–Mills instantons over ALF geometries. Furthermore we demonstrate that this statement continues to hold for the larger gauge group U(2). Finally we make the observation that there might be a natural relationship between 4 dimensional Yang–Mills theory over an ALF space and 2 dimensional conformal field theory. This would provide a further support for the existence of a similar correspondence investigated by several authors recently.  相似文献

We review the definition of instanton (= pseudoparticle) solutions and their importance in the context of nonabelian gauge (= Yang-Mills) theories, as well as the recent progress, due to Atiyah and Ward, in their construction, using the Penrose twistor transform and methods of algebraic geometry. In particular, we present a proof of the theorem of Atiyah and Ward on the correspondence between SU(2) instanton solutions over the 4-sphere and certain algebraic 2-dimensional complex vector bundles over complex projective 3-space.  相似文献

We continue the investigation of Spin(7) holonomy metric of cohomogeneity one with the principal orbit SU(3)/U(1). A special choice of U(1) embedding in SU(3) allows more general metric ansatz with five metric functions. There are two possible singular orbits in the first-order system of Spin(7) instanton equation. One is the flag manifold SU(3)/T2 also known as the twistor space of CP(2) and the other is CP(2) itself. Imposing a set of algebraic constraints, we find a two-parameter family of exact solutions which have SU(4) holonomy and are asymptotically conical. There are two types of asymptotically locally conical (ALC) metrics in our model, which are distinguished by the choice of S1 circle whose radius stabilizes at infinity. We show that this choice of M theory circle selects one of the possible singular orbits mentioned above. Numerical analyses of solutions near the singular orbit and in the asymptotic region support the existence of two families of ALC Spin(7) metrics: one family consists of deformations of the Calabi hyper-Kähler metric, the other is a new family of metrics on a line bundle over the twistor space of CP(2).  相似文献

A general form of the quadratic Lagrangian in the presence of a self-dual classical field has been obtained. The calculation of the amplitude of the vacuum-vacuum transition in the SU(N) group has been reduced to calculation of similar amplitudes in the SU(2) group for scalar particles with different isospins. The value of the amplitude for one instanton has been obtained.  相似文献
