A novel two-step catalytic reaction is developed to synthesize gallium nitride nanowires encapsulated inside carbon nanotubes (GaN@CNT). The nanowires are prepared from the reaction of gallium metal and ammonium using metals or metal alloys as a catalyst. After the formation of the nanowires, carbon nanotubes are subsequently grown along the nanowires by chemical vapor deposition of methane. The structural and optical properties of pure GaN nanowires and GaN@CNT are characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results show that GaN nanowires are indeed encapsulated inside carbon nanotubes. The field emission studies show that the turn-on field of GaN@CNT is higher than that of carbon nanotubes, but substantially lower than that of pure GaN nanowires. This work provides a wide route toward the preparation and applications of new one-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures.  相似文献

The volt-ampere and gauss-ampere characteristics of zig-zag carbon nanotubes are calculated at low temperatures based on the average electron method. The characteristics obtained are analyzed as functions of the magnetic field strength. It is revealed that a constant electric field can arise spontaneously in carbon nanotubes upon application of an alternating high-frequency electric field. This effect can be due to the nonequilibrium electron subsystem of the carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes have been synthesized from botanical hydrocarbons: Turpentine oil and Eucalyptus oil on Si(100) substrate using Fe catalyst by simple spray pyrolysis method at 700°C and at atmospheric pressure. The as-grown carbon nanotubes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and Raman spectroscopy. It was observed that nanotubes grown from turpentine oil have better degree of graphitization and field emission performance than eucalyptus oil grown carbon nanotubes. The turpentine oil and eucalyptus oil grown carbon nanotubes indicated that the turn-on field of about 1.7 and 1.93 V/μm, respectively, at 10 μA/cm2. The threshold field was observed to be about 2.13 and 2.9 V/μm at 1 mA/cm2 of nanotubes grown from turpentine oil and eucalyptus oil respectively. Moreover, turpentine oil grown carbon nanotubes show higher current density in relative to eucalyptus oil grown carbon nanotubes. The maximum current density of 15.3 mA/cm2 was obtained for ∼3 V/μm corresponding to the nanotubes grown from turpentine oil. The improved field emission performance was attributed to the enhanced crystallinity, fewer defects, and greater length of turpentine oil grown carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

采用高温热解法,以乙二胺为前驱液,在沉积有铁催化剂的p型硅(111)基底上制备出了定向生长的CNx纳米管.利用扫描电子显微镜、高分辨率透射电子显微镜和拉曼光谱对CNx纳米管进行了形貌观察和表征.CNx纳米管的高度在20?μm左右,直径在50—100nm之间,具有明显的“竹节状”结构,结晶有序度较差.对CNx纳米管薄膜进行低场致发射性能测试:外加电场为1.4V/μm,观察到20?μA /cm2发射电流,外电场升至2.54V/μm时发射电流达到1.280mA/cm2,在较高外电场下,没有发现电流“饱和”.这比 关键词: CNx纳米管 高温热解 “竹节状”结构 场致发射  相似文献

Surface functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotube was carried out by introducing ylides groups containing anchored phenol structures. The functionalized nanotube is characterized using elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Raman spectroscopy and zeta potential measurements. Elemental and FT-IR analysis reveal the successful functionalization of azomethine ylides. Raman spectroscopic studies corroborates that the surface functionalization does not affect the basic crystal domain size of the nanotubes. Functionalized carbon nanotubes exhibit higher zeta potential values showing its higher dispersant ability in water and acetone solvent in comparison to pure carbon nanotube.  相似文献

The field emission of individual multiwall carbon nanotubes grown by chemical vapor deposition was measured in a scanning electron microscope. By using a sharp anode, we were able to select one nanotube for measurements in carefully controlled conditions. Single nanotubes follow the Fowler-Nordheim law, and the dependence of the field enhancement with interelectrode distance and nanotube radius is in good agreement with the recent model of Edgcombe and Valdré. Our results suggest that only nanotubes with the highest field enhancement factors, i.e., at least 8x higher than those of the average nanotube population, contribute to the emitted current in usual large area measurements.  相似文献

We predict the possibility of spontaneous emergence of a constant electric field in carbon nanotubes if a high-frequency electric field is applied to them. The effect can be related to the nonequilibrium state of the electron subsystem of carbon nanotubes. The characteristics of the spontaneous field with respect to the parameters of the problem under consideration are revealed.  相似文献

Recent experiments have shown that carbon nanotubes exhibit excellent electron field emisson properties with high current densities at low electric fields. Here we present theoretical investigations that incorporate geometrical effects and the electronic structure of nanotubes. The electric field is dramatically enhanced near the cap of a nanotube with a large variation of local field distribution. It is found that deviation from linear Fowler-Nordheim behavior occurs due to the variation of the local field in the electron tunneling region. The maximum current per tube is of the order of 10 microA. Local and microscopic aspects of field emission from nanotubes are also presented.  相似文献

采用高温催化裂解法制备碳纳米管,对其用浓硝酸氧化法进行纯化处理,并用化学共沉淀方法制备了磁性碳纳米管(简称磁性管)。利用场发射扫描电子显微镜对磁性管进行了表征。将磁分离技术应用于碳纳米管吸附性能研究,探索碳纳米管负载磁性颗粒后对甲基橙的吸附性能,寻找最佳实验条件,对吸附质溶液进行紫外-可见吸收光谱分析。同时,进行了磁性管的脱附和再吸附性能研究。  相似文献

采用微波烧结方法制备了碳纳米管/金刚石复合材料。将碳纳米管和纳米金刚石粉末混合后研磨压片,然后在微波等离子气相沉积系统中采用微波烧结。利用扫描电镜对复合材料的表面形貌和微观结构进行了分析,结果显示碳纳米管比较均匀地分散于复合材料中,并在表面形成了发射微尖。利用二极管结构在动态真空室中对复合材料的场发射特性进行了研究,复合材料有较好的场发射特性,电流密度接近15mA/cm2。  相似文献

The possibility of forming solitons in zigzag carbon nanotubes is investigated using the coupled equations for the classical function of the electron distribution and the Maxwell equations for an electromagnetic field. It is demonstrated that the solitons are generated as a result of correlated changes in the classical distribution function and the electric field induced by nonequilibrium electrons of a carbon nanotube. The effective equation describing the dynamics of the electromagnetic field is derived. The existence of solitons is confirmed by the results of numerical calculations. The characteristics of solitons are investigated as a function of the diameter of zigzag carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

Carbon nanotubes with uniform density were synthesized on carbon fiber substrate by the floating catalyst method. The morphology and microstructure were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results of field emission showed that the emission current density of carbon nanotubes/carbon fibers was 10 μA/cm2 and 1 mA/cm2 at the field of 1.25 and 2.25 V/μm, respectively, and the emission current density could be 10 and 81.2 mA/cm2 with the field of 4.5 and 7 V/μm, respectively. Using uniform and sparse density distribution of carbon nanotubes on carbon fiber substrate, the tip predominance of carbon nanotubes can be exerted, and simultaneously the effect of screening between adjacent carbon nanotubes on field emission performance can also be effectively decreased. Therefore, the carbon nanotubes/carbon fibers composite should be a good candidate for a cold cathode material.  相似文献

The possible existence of the electromagnetic solitons in carbon nanotubes is analyzed. Solitons appear as a result of a simultaneous change in the classical electron distribution function and the electric field produced by the nonequilibrium electrons in carbon nanotube. The effective equations are obtained for the dynamics of electromagnetic field with allowance for the interband transitions causing soliton damping. The numerical results are presented evidencing the existence of solitons in carbon nanotubes. The propagation dynamics is studied for the periodic electromagnetic waves in the bundles of carbon nanotubes. The shape of electromagnetic wave is found to change during its propagation.  相似文献

The magnitude of the local electric field and the electron emission current density for an array of aligned carbon nanotubes is estimated. For describing in detail the properties of the local electric field in the vicinity of the nanotube tips, a hybrid method allowing for the local determination of the field enhancement factor is introduced. The field factor consists of two parts: an internal factor which describes the structure of the carbon nanotubes and an external factor which represents the field screening effect due to neighboring nanotubes. The current density is obtained using the Fowler–Nordheim equation with the hybrid field enhancement scheme. As a result, the emission properties for an array of nanotubes with a given length are described satisfactorily, and an optimum value for the nanotube spacing is determined. The field electron emission, structural features, and electronic properties of carbon films obtained by chemical vapor deposition were experimentally studied. It is shown that the field electron emission from the films composed of spatially oriented carbon nanotubes and platelike graphite nanocrystals is observed for the electric field strength lower by one to two orders of magnitude as compared to the values characteristic of the metal emitters. Experimental data reported for the first time are indicative of a local decrease in the electron work function in such carbon film materials as compared to that in graphite. A model of the emission center is proposed and a mechanism of the field electron emission from nanostructured carbon is described.  相似文献

The problem of the propagation of two-dimensional solitary electromagnetic waves in an array of carbon nanotubes has been considered. The electromagnetic field and the electron system of carbon nanotubes have been treated on the basis of the Maxwell’s equations and the Boltzmann kinetic equation in the relaxation-time approximation, respectively. The derived effective equation has been analyzed and the state of the electromagnetic field that is localized in two spatial dimensions has been found.  相似文献

The field-emission characteristics of carbon nanoclusters (graphenes, nanotubes, their compositions with microdiamonds) produced by the cold destruction of natural graphite are studied. The structure of a coating of carbon nanoclusters on a tungsten cathode is examined by field emission microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and electron diffraction. The high-intensity stable field emission of these clusters is shown to be characterized by a low field threshold. The mechanism of the low-threshold emission from carbon nanoclusters is discussed.  相似文献

建立一种平行背栅极碳纳米管阵列阴极,基于电场叠加原理,利用镜像电荷法对其进行计算,给出碳纳米管顶端表面电场增强因子。在此基础上,进一步分析器件各类参数对电场增强因子的影响。分析表明,碳纳米管阵列阴极具有最佳阵列密度,其对应碳纳米管间距大约为碳纳米管高度的两倍,靠阴极阵列边缘部位的碳纳米管发射电子能力比其中心部位的大。除了碳纳米管的长径比之外,栅极宽度、栅极厚度和栅极间距等也对电场增强因子有一定的影响:栅极越宽,场增强因子越大;而栅极厚度、栅极间距越大,场增强因子就越小。  相似文献
