Tikhonov regularization is one of the most popular methods for solving linear systems of equations or linear least-squares problems with a severely ill-conditioned matrix A. This method replaces the given problem by a penalized least-squares problem. The present paper discusses measuring the residual error (discrepancy) in Tikhonov regularization with a seminorm that uses a fractional power of the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse of AA T as weighting matrix. Properties of this regularization method are discussed. Numerical examples illustrate that the proposed scheme for a suitable fractional power may give approximate solutions of higher quality than standard Tikhonov regularization.  相似文献

In this study we prove a stability estimate for an inverse heat source problem in the n-dimensional case. We present a revised generalized Tikhonov regularization and obtain an error estimate. Numerical experiments for the one-dimensional and two-dimensional cases show that the revised generalized Tikhonov regularization works well.  相似文献

The computation of an approximate solution of linear discrete ill-posed problems with contaminated data is delicate due to the possibility of severe error propagation. Tikhonov regularization seeks to reduce the sensitivity of the computed solution to errors in the data by replacing the given ill-posed problem by a nearby problem, whose solution is less sensitive to perturbation. This regularization method requires that a suitable value of the regularization parameter be chosen. Recently, Brezinski et al. (Numer Algorithms 49, 2008) described new approaches to estimate the error in approximate solutions of linear systems of equations and applied these estimates to determine a suitable value of the regularization parameter in Tikhonov regularization when the approximate solution is computed with the aid of the singular value decomposition. This paper discusses applications of these and related error estimates to the solution of large-scale ill-posed problems when approximate solutions are computed by Tikhonov regularization based on partial Lanczos bidiagonalization of the matrix. The connection between partial Lanczos bidiagonalization and Gauss quadrature is utilized to determine inexpensive bounds for a family of error estimates. In memory of Gene H. Golub. Tikhonov regularization is a popular method for the solution of linear discrete ill-posed problems with error-contaminated data. Nonstationary iterated Tikhonov regularization is known to be able to determine approximate solutions of higher quality than standard Tikhonov regularization. We investigate the choice of solution subspace in iterative methods for nonstationary iterated Tikhonov regularization of large-scale problems. Generalized Krylov subspaces are compared with Krylov subspaces that are generated by Golub–Kahan bidiagonalization and the Arnoldi process. Numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the methods.  相似文献

Many current industry branches use hybrid approaches to solve complex application problems. Over the last decades, different tools for the simulation of such hybrid systems (e.g. Hysdel and YAMLIP) as well as the identification of hybrid systems (e.g. HIT, MLP and OAF NN) have been developed. The framework presented in this work facilitates the integration of artificial feed-forward neural networks in the modelling process of hybrid dynamical systems (HDS). Additionally, the framework provides a structured language for characterising these feed-forward networks itself. Therefore, an interdisciplinary exchange in the field of neural networks and its integration into hybrid dynamical systems is enabled. Focusing on hybrid systems with autonomous events, two different approaches, namely the artificial hybrid model and the artificial hybrid dynamics, are introduced. Challenges of the modelling process of HDS are reflected and advantages as well as disadvantages are discussed. The case study includes two common examples of HDS and analyses the simulation results and examines limitations of the modelling framework.  相似文献

Tikhonov regularization is one of the most popular approaches to solving linear discrete ill‐posed problems. The choice of the regularization matrix may significantly affect the quality of the computed solution. When the regularization matrix is the identity, iterated Tikhonov regularization can yield computed approximate solutions of higher quality than (standard) Tikhonov regularization. This paper provides an analysis of iterated Tikhonov regularization with a regularization matrix different from the identity. Computed examples illustrate the performance of this method.

A common way to handle the Tikhonov regularization method for the first kind Fredholm integral equations, is first to discretize and then to work with the final linear system. This unavoidably inflicts discretization errors which may lead to disastrous results, especially when a quadrature rule is used. We propose to regularize directly the integral equation resulting in a continuous Tikhonov problem. The Tikhonov problem is reduced to a simple least squares problem by applying the Golub-Kahan bidiagonalization (GKB) directly to the integral operator. The regularization parameter and the iteration index are determined by the discrepancy principle approach. Moreover, we study the discrete version of the proposed method resulted from numerical evaluating the needed integrals. Focusing on the nodal values of the solution results in a weighted version of GKB-Tikhonov method for linear systems arisen from the Nyström discretization. Finally, we use numerical experiments on a few test problems to illustrate the performance of our algorithms.  相似文献

We construct with the aid of regularizing filters a new class of improved regularization methods, called modified Tikhonov regularization (MTR), for solving ill-posed linear operator equations. Regularizing properties and asymptotic order of the regularized solutions are analyzed in the presence of noisy data and perturbation error in the operator. With some accurate estimates in the solution errors, optimal convergence order of the regularized solutions is obtained by a priori choice of the regularization parameter. Furthermore, numerical results are given for several ill-posed integral equations, which not only roughly coincide with the theoretical results but also show that MTR can be more accurate than ordinary Tikhonov regularization (OTR).

This paper is devoted to solve a backward problem for a time-fractional diffusion equation with variable coefficients in a general bounded domain by the Tikhonov regularization method. Based on the eigenfunction expansion of the solution, the backward problem for searching the initial data is changed to solve a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. The conditional stability for the backward problem is obtained. We use the Tikhonov regularization method to deal with the integral equation and obtain the series expression of solution. Furthermore, the convergence rates for the Tikhonov regularized solution can be proved by using an a priori regularization parameter choice rule and an a posteriori regularization parameter choice rule. Two numerical examples in one-dimensional and two-dimensional cases respectively are investigated. Numerical results show that the proposed method is effective and stable.  相似文献

Deconvolution problems with a finite observation window require appropriate models of the unknown signal in order to guarantee uniqueness of the solution. For this purpose it has recently been suggested to impose some kind of antireflectivity of the signal. With this constraint, the deconvolution problem can be solved with an appropriate modification of the fast sine transform, provided that the convolution kernel is symmetric. The corresponding transformation is called the antireflective transform. In this work we determine the condition number of the antireflective transform to first order, and use this to show that the so-called reblurring variant of Tikhonov regularization for deconvolution problems is a regularization method. Moreover, we establish upper bounds for the regularization error of the reblurring strategy that hold uniformly with respect to the size n of the algebraic system, even though the condition number of the antireflective transform grows with n. We briefly sketch how our results extend to higher space dimensions.  相似文献

The Tikhonov method is a famous technique for regularizing ill-posed linear problems, wherein a regularization parameter needs to be determined. This article, based on an invariant-manifold method, presents an adaptive Tikhonov method to solve ill-posed linear algebraic problems. The new method consists in building a numerical minimizing vector sequence that remains on an invariant manifold, and then the Tikhonov parameter can be optimally computed at each iteration by minimizing a proper merit function. In the optimal vector method (OVM) three concepts of optimal vector, slow manifold and Hopf bifurcation are introduced. Numerical illustrations on well known ill-posed linear problems point out the computational efficiency and accuracy of the present OVM as compared with classical ones.  相似文献

Tikhonov regularization often is applied with a finite difference regularization operator that approximates a low-order derivative. This paper proposes the use of orthogonal projections as regularization operators, e.g., with the same null space as commonly used finite difference operators. Applications to iterative and SVD-based methods for Tikhonov regularization are described. Truncated iterative and SVD methods are also considered. Research of L. Although the residual method, or constrained regularization, is frequently used in applications, a detailed study of its properties is still missing. This sharply contrasts the progress of the theory of Tikhonov regularization, where a series of new results for regularization in Banach spaces has been published in the recent years. The present paper intends to bridge the gap between the existing theories as far as possible. We develop a stability and convergence theory for the residual method in general topological spaces. In addition, we prove convergence rates in terms of (generalized) Bregman distances, which can also be applied to non-convex regularization functionals. We provide three examples that show the applicability of our theory. The first example is the regularized solution of linear operator equations on Lp-spaces, where we show that the results of Tikhonov regularization generalize unchanged to the residual method. As a second example, we consider the problem of density estimation from a finite number of sampling points, using the Wasserstein distance as a fidelity term and an entropy measure as regularization term. It is shown that the densities obtained in this way depend continuously on the location of the sampled points and that the underlying density can be recovered as the number of sampling points tends to infinity. Finally, we apply our theory to compressed sensing. Here, we show the well-posedness of the method and derive convergence rates both for convex and non-convex regularization under rather weak conditions.  相似文献

A common challenge in regression is that for many problems, the degrees of freedom required for a high-quality solution also allows for overfitting. Regularization is a class of strategies that seek to restrict the range of possible solutions so as to discourage overfitting while still enabling good solutions, and different regularization strategies impose different types of restrictions. In this paper, we present a multilevel regularization strategy that constructs and trains a hierarchy of neural networks, each of which has layers that are wider versions of the previous network's layers. We draw intuition and techniques from the field of Algebraic Multigrid (AMG), traditionally used for solving linear and nonlinear systems of equations, and specifically adapt the Full Approximation Scheme (FAS) for nonlinear systems of equations to the problem of deep learning. Training through V-cycles then encourage the neural networks to build a hierarchical understanding of the problem. We refer to this approach as multilevel-in-width to distinguish from prior multilevel works which hierarchically alter the depth of neural networks. The resulting approach is a highly flexible framework that can be applied to a variety of layer types, which we demonstrate with both fully connected and convolutional layers. We experimentally show with PDE regression problems that our multilevel training approach is an effective regularizer, improving the generalize performance of the neural networks studied.  相似文献

When deriving rates of convergence for the approximations generated by the application of Tikhonov regularization to ill-posed operator equations, assumptions must be made about the nature of the stabilization (i.e., the choice of the seminorm in the Tikhonov regularization) and the regularity of the least squares solutions which one looks for. In fact, it is clear from works of Hegland, Engl and Neubauer and Natterer that, in terms of the rate of convergence, there is a trade-off between stabilization and regularity. It is this matter which is examined in this paper by means of the best-possible worst-error estimates. The results of this paper provide better estimates than those of Engl and Neubauer, and also include and extend the best possible rate derived by Natterer. The paper concludes with an application of these results to first-kind integral equations with smooth kernels.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Tikhonov regularization method for solving a system of ill-posed equilibrium problems in Banach spaces with a posteriori regularization-parameter choice. An application to convex minimization problems with coupled constraints is also given.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a problem of the identification of an unknown source on Poisson equation from some fixed location. A conditional stability estimate for an inverse heat source problem is proved. We show that such a problem is mildly ill‐posed and further present two Tikhonov‐type regularization methods (a generalized Tikhonov regularization method and a simplified generalized Tikhonov regularization method) to deal with this problem. Convergence estimates are presented under the a priori choice of the regularization parameter. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of our methods. In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of Laplace’s equation in the neighborhood of a circle. The method of fundamental solutions (MFS) combined with the discrete Tikhonov regularization is applied to obtain a regularized solution from noisy Cauchy data. Under the suitable choices of a regularization parameter and an a priori assumption to the Cauchy data, we obtain a convergence result for the regularized solution. Numerical experiments are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献
