This letter presents a theoretical model of the normal (head-on) collisions between two soft spheres for predicting the experimental characteristic of the coefficient of restitution dependent on impact velocity. After the contact force law between the contacted spheres during a collision is phenomenologically formulated in terms of the compression or overlap displacement under consideration of an elastic—plastic loading and a plastic unloading subprocesses, the coefficient of restitution is gained by the dynamic equation of the contact process once an initial impact velocity is input. It is found that the theoretical predictions of the coefficient of restitution varying with the impact velocity are well in agreement with the existing experimental characteristics which are fitted by the explicit formula.  相似文献

We consider adhesive contact between a rigid sphere of radius R and a graded elastic half-space with Young's modulus varying with depth according to a power law E=E0(z/c0)k (0<k<1) while Poisson's ratio ν remaining a constant. Closed-form analytical solutions are established for the critical force, the critical radius of contact area and the critical interfacial stress at pull-off. We highlight that the pull-off force has a simple solution of Pcr=−(k+3)πRΔγ/2 where Δγ is the work of adhesion and make further discussions with respect to three interesting limits: the classical JKR solution when k=0, the Gibson solid when k→1 and ν=0.5, and the strength limit in which the interfacial stress reaches the theoretical strength of adhesion at pull-off.  相似文献

固体力学研究者致力于具有应力-应变本构关系(以下简称为形变型本构关系)的变形体的力学响应研究,而流体力学研究者致力于具有应力-应变率本构关系(以下简称为流动型本构关系)的流动体的力学响应研究。当涉及结构和材料的动态塑性时,到底应该用“塑性变形”还是“塑性流动”来表示?本文从宏观塑性本构理论和微观位错动力学机理两个角度,分别讨论并指出塑性本构关系属于流动型黏塑性率相关本构关系,且同时适用于加载和卸载;因而不应该用应力-应变图来描述塑性加-卸载过程。弹塑性本构关系则是一种形变型和流动型本构关系的耦合。

Summary The paper deals with numerical solutions of singular integral equations in stress concentration problems for longitudinal shear loading. The body force method is used to formulate the problem as a system of singular integral equations with Cauchy-type singularities, where unknown functions are densities of body forces distributed in the longitudinal direction of an infinite body. First, four kinds of fundamental density functions are introduced to satisfy completely the boundary conditions for an elliptical boundary in the range 0≤φ k ≤2π. To explain the idea of the fundamental densities, four kinds of equivalent auxiliary body force densities are defined in the range 0≤φ k ≤π/2, and necessary conditions that the densities must satisfy are described. Then, four kinds of fundamental density functions are explained as sample functions to satisfy the necessary conditions. Next, the unknown functions of the body force densities are approximated by a linear combination of the fundamental density functions and weight functions, which are unknown. Calculations are carried out for several arrangements of elliptical holes. It is found that the present method yields rapidly converging numerical results. The body force densities and stress distributions along the boundaries are shown in figures to demonstrate the accuracy of the present solutions. In coal mining the water flow in broken rock is a very common phenomenon. Study of seepage properties of broken rock is one of the basic subjects required in order to understand the stability of rock surrounding roadways, preventing disasters such as water inrush and gas outbursts and developing underground resources. So far, quantitative studies on the nonlinear seepage properties of broken sandstone under different porosities are not extensive in the research literature. In this article, by means of an electro-hydraulic servo-controlled test system (MTS815.02) and a patent seepage device, the seepage properties under different conditions of porosity were tested on broken sandstone of five different grain sizes. Based on the loading method of controlling the axial compression displacement and steady permeating method, we obtained curves of the relation of pore pressure with time, as well as the relation curves between the pore pressure gradient for steady seepage and velocity. Furthermore, we calculated the permeability k and non-Darcy coefficient β corresponding to different porosities by fitting these curves with the binomial expression. This study indicates that: (1) the seepage properties of broken sandstone are closely related to grain size, load levels, and porosity structure; (2) the permeability k decreases, while the coefficient β increases with a decrease in porosity φ, but both the kφ and the βφ curves show some local fluctuations; (3) the permeability k of the broken sandstone has a magnitude of 10−14–10−12 m2, while the coefficient β ranges from 1010 to 1012 m−1. The results obtained provide some information for further study of the nonlinear seepage behavior of broken rock theoretically.  相似文献

The process of unloading of an elastic–plastic loaded sphere in contact with a rigid flat is studied by finite element method. The sphere material is assumed isotropic with elastic-linear hardening. The numerical simulations cover a wide range of material properties and sphere radius. The contact load, stresses, and deformation in the sphere during both loading and unloading, are calculated for a wide range of interferences. Analytical dimensionless expressions are presented for the unloading load–deformation relation, the residual interference and the residual curvature of the sphere after complete unloading. A new measure termed elastic–plastic loading index is introduced to indicate the plasticity level of the loaded sphere. Some ideas regarding reversibility of the unloading process and elasticity of multiple loading unloading are also presented.  相似文献

Pulse-shaping techniques are developed for both the loading and unloading paths of a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) experiment to obtain valid dynamic stress-strain loops for engineering materials. Front and rear pulse-shapers, in association with a momentum trap, are used to precisely control the profiles of the loading and unloading portions of the incident pulse. The modifications, ensure that the specimen deforms at the same constant strain rate under dynamic stress equilibrium during both loading and unloading stages of an experiment so that dynamic stress-strain loops can be accurately determined. Dynamic stress-strain loops with a constant strain rate for a nickel-titanium shape memory alloy and polymethyl methacrylate are determined using the modified SHPB. The modified momentum trap prevents repeated loading on a specimen without affecting the amplitude of the desired loading pulse and without damaging the bar at high stress levels.  相似文献

An asymptotic analysis of the near-tip fields is given for transient crack propagation in an elastic-plastic material. The material is characterized by J2 flow theory together with a bilinear effective stress-strain curve. Both plane stress and plane strain conditions have been considered. Explicit results are given for the order of the crack-tip singularity, the angular position at which unloading occurs, and the angular variation of the near-tip stresses, all as functions of the crack-tip speed and the ratio of the slopes of the two portions of the bilinear stress-strain relation. It was found that the results are much more sensitive to the elastic-plastic constitutive relation than to the crack speed. This result is important for numerical analyses of dynamic crack propagation problems.  相似文献

为了探索岩石在周期性恒定拉伸、压缩荷载作用下的蠕变行为,结合杠杆原理,设计研制了一种岩石杠杆式拉伸、压缩蠕变试验仪。该仪器具有挂重质量小、可方便切换拉、压荷载等特点。首先,通过标定好的数显式拉压荷重传感器对该试验仪拉伸、压缩荷载进行了校正,得出试验仪压缩、拉伸荷载杠杆扩力比分别为81.29倍与59.46倍,挂重质量与施加在岩样荷载呈线性关系(压缩作用下线性关系相关系数R2=0.99975,拉伸作用下R2=0.9991),荷载施加稳定。最后,采用该试验仪对红砂岩进行了单轴恒定拉、压循环荷载下的蠕变试验,探讨了受荷岩样拉压蠕变规律。上述成果丰富了岩石蠕变测试与研究内容,有助于岩石力学试验测试的发展。  相似文献

The variational solution of the nonlinear Signorini contact problem determines also the active contact zone Γ c . If the latter is known, then the elastic field is a solution of a linear mixed boundary value problem in which on Γ c the normal displacement and tangential traction are given, while on the non-contact part the total traction is zero. Such mixed boundary conditions in general generate singularities of the solution's stress field at the points P ( k ) where the boundary conditions change. For smooth data, however, the variational solution of the Signorini contact problem actually belongs to H 2(Ω)2, which implies the disappearance of these singularities, i.e., that the corresponding stress intensity factors vanish. This paper is devoted to the characterization of the active contact zone Γ c by the vanishing stress intensity factors including their sensitivity with respect to varying Γ c for two-dimensional problems provided that Γ c consists of a finite number of intervals. We use the method of asymptotic expansions and derive an explicit formula for the sensitivity, which is rigorously justified by employing weighted Sobolev spaces with detached asymptotics. 通过显式、直接的方法提出一个多轴可压缩应变能函数,用来模拟类橡胶材料在加载——卸载作用下,由于Mullins效应而产生的应力——应变滞回圈. 本文的创新点在于将表征能量耗散的变量引入到应变能函数.新的弹性势具有以下两个特点:第一,在加载情况下,新引入的变量不会对弹性势产生任何影响,因此,只要给出合适的形函数显式表达,3个基准实验,包括单轴拉伸和压缩,等双轴拉伸和压缩,以及平面应变,都可精确模拟;第二,新引入的变量在卸载情况下将被激活.在不同的卸载应力下,变量将发生改变,从而影响弹性势,使其最终产生不同的应力——应变关系卸载曲线,与对应的加载曲线共同构成应力——应变滞回圈.通过对Mullins效应实验数据进行分析和研究,得出了卸载形函数在不同卸载应力下变化的规律,并预测不同卸载应力下的应力——应变关系.最后,我们将得到精确匹配实验数据的数值模拟结果,从而证明本文方法不仅可以精确匹配至少3个基准实验,还可以模拟和预测类橡胶材料在加载——卸载作用下由于Mullins效应而产生的滞回圈.   相似文献

传统的结合面研究多基于光滑刚性平面与等效粗糙表面接触假设,忽略了结合面上微凸体侧向接触及相邻微凸体之间的相互作用,这导致理论模型与实际结合面存在较大出入.针对承受法向静、动态力的机械结合面,从微观上研究了微凸体侧向接触及相互作用的接触能耗.将法向静、动态力分解为法向分力和切向分力,获取弹性/弹塑性/塑性阶段考虑微凸体侧接触及相互作用的加、卸载法向分力-变形和切向分力-位移的关系.通过力的合成定理,从而获取加、卸载法向合力与总变形之间的关系,由于法向分力产生的塑性变形及切向分力产生的摩擦,导致加载、卸载法向合力-总变形曲线存在迟滞回线.通过对一个加、卸载周期内的法向合力-总变形曲线积分,获得一个周期的微凸体接触能耗,包括应变能耗及摩擦能耗.仿真分析表明:微凸体在3个阶段的能耗均随变形的增大而非线性增大.微凸体侧向接触角度越大,能耗越大,且在弹性阶段最为明显.在弹性阶段,仅存在侧向的摩擦能耗,故结合面在低载荷作用下必须采用双粗糙表面假设.在塑性阶段,由于微凸体接触能耗为应变能耗,且接触角对其能耗影响甚微,故结合面在大载荷作用下可采用单平面假设对其进行研究.相对于KE和Etsion模型,本文提出的模型与Bartier的实验结果更吻合.  相似文献

The Strain Energy Density Theory is applied for analyzing energy dissipation and crack growth in the three-point bending specimen when the material behavior follows a multilinear strain-hardening stress-strain relationship. The problem is solved through the application of incremental theory of plasticity and finite element method.The rate of change of the strain energy density factor S with crack length a is verified to be governed by the relation . Results are obtained for isotropic and kinematic hardening. Moreover, the effects of loading step and specimen size are pointed out.  相似文献

以泡沫陶瓷复合材料在防护工程中的应用为背景,利用MTS(Material Test System,材料试验机)对该型材料进行了准静态压缩实验。得到了应变率在10-5~10-3s-1范围内的应力应变曲线,并对实验结果进行了理论分析和数值模拟。研究表明,泡沫陶瓷复合材料的力学性能在准静态一维应力压缩条件下显示出明显的应变率效应,同时其应力应变曲线可用一种经验的脆性材料本构模型进行较好地拟合。而在一维应变压缩条件下,材料的应力应变曲线则显示出明显的三段式特征:弹性段、平台段和密实段,同时材料的吸能幅值随着应变率的增大而增加。  相似文献

The aim of indentation analysis is to link indentation data, typically an indentation force vs. indentation depth curve, Ph, to meaningful mechanical properties of the indented material. While well established for time independent behavior, the presence of a time dependent behavior can strongly affect both the loading and the unloading responses. The paper presents a framework of viscoelastic indentation analysis based on the method of functional equations, developed by Lee and Radok [1960, The contact problem for viscoelastic bodies, J. Appl. Mech. 27, 438–444]. While the method is restricted to monotonically increasing contact areas, we show that it remains valid at the very beginning of the unloading phase as well. Based on this result, it is possible to derive closed form solutions following the classical procedure of functional formulations of viscoelasticity: (1) the identification of the indentation creep function, which is the indentation response to a Heaviside load; and (2) a convolution integral of the load history over the indentation creep function. This is shown here for a trapezoidal loading by a conical indenter on three linear isotropic viscoelastic materials with deviator creep: the 3-parameter Maxwell model, the 4-parameter Kelvin–Voigt model and the 5-parameter combined Kelvin–Voigt–Maxwell model. For these models, we derive closed form solutions that can be employed for the back-analysis of indentation results from the loading and holding period and for the definition of unloading time criteria that ensure that viscous effects are negligible in the unloading response.  相似文献

Summary The propagation of time harmonic waves in a certain continuously layered medium is considered. The wave numberk=k() is assumed to vary with the Cartesian coordinate ; the law of variation is taken to be the one studied by Epstein. An integral representation for the wave function in this medium is derived. Fatigue crack growth and its threshold are investigated at a stress ratio of 0.5 for the three-point bend specimen made of Austenitic stainless steel. The effect of grain size on the crack tip plastic deformation is investigated. The results show that the threshold value Δkth increases linearly with the square root of grain size d and the growth rate is slower for materials with larger grain size. The plastic zone size and ratio for different grain sizes are different at the threshold. The maximum stress intensity factor is kmax and σys is the yield strength. At the same time, the characteristics of the plastic deformation development is discontinuous and anti-symmetric as the growth rate is increased from 2·10—8 to 10−7 mm/cycle.A dimensionless relation of the form for collating fatigue crack starting growth data is proposed in which Δkth represents the stress intensity factor range at the threshold. Based on experimental results, this relation attains the value of 0.6 for a fatigue crack to start growth in the Austenitic stainless steel investigated in this work. Metallurgical examinations were also carried out to show a transgranular shear mode of cyclic cleavage and plastic shear.  相似文献

Summary Two axi-symmetric bodies are pressed together, so that their axes of symmetry coincide with the contact normal and the normal force is held constant. A small torque about the contact normal or a small tangential force is applied. For bodies of equal material, the normal and tangential stress states are uncoupled, and can solved separately. The surfaces of the bodies are thought as a superposition of infinitesimal rigid flat-ended punches. Consequently, the normal stress distribution can be calculated as a summation of differential flat punch solutions. A formula results, which is identical with the solution of Green and Collins. After application of a torque an annular sliding area forms at the border of the contact area. For reasons of symmetry, the common displacement of the inner stick area must be a rigid body rotation. Similarly to the normal problem, the solution can be thought as a superposition of rigid punch rotations. The tangential solution can be derived analogically, in form of a superposition of rigid punch displacements. The present method also solves the problem of simultanous normal and torsional or tangential loading with complete adhesion. As an example, Steuermann's problem for polynomial surfaces of the formA 2nr2nis solved. The solutions for constant normal forces can be used as basic functions for loading histories with varying normal and tangential forces.  相似文献
