The probability measures on compact Hausdorff spaces K form a compact convex subset PK of the space of measures with the vague topology. Every continuous map of compact Hausdorff spaces induces a continuous affine map extending f. Together with the canonical embedding associating to every point its Dirac measure and the barycentric map β associating to every probability measure on PK its barycenter, we obtain a monad (P,ε,β). The Eilenberg-Moore algebras of this monad have been characterised to be the compact convex sets embeddable in locally convex topological vector spaces by Swirszcz [T. Swirszcz, Monadic functors and convexity, Bul. Acad. Polon. Sci. Sér. Sci. Math. Astron. Phys. 22 (1974) 39-42].We generalise this result to compact ordered spaces in the sense of Nachbin [L. Nachbin, Topology and Order, Von Nostrand, Princeton, NJ, 1965. Translated from the 1950 monograph “Topologia e Ordem” (in Portugese). Reprinted by Robert E. Kreiger Publishing Co., Huntington, NY, 1967]. The probability measures form again a compact ordered space when endowed with the stochastic order. The maps ε and β are shown to preserve the stochastic orders. Thus, we obtain a monad over the category of compact ordered spaces and order preserving continuous maps. The algebras of this monad are shown to be the compact convex ordered sets embeddable in locally convex ordered topological vector spaces. This result can be seen as a step towards the characterisation of the algebras of the monad of probability measures on the category of stably compact spaces (see [G. Gierz, K.H. Hofmann, K. Keimel, J.D. Lawson, M. Mislove, D.S. Scott, Continuous Lattices and Domains, Encyclopedia Math. Appl., vol. 93, Cambridge University Press, 2003, Section VI-6]).  相似文献

Hausdorff and Gromov distances are introduced and treated in the context of categories enriched over a commutative unital quantale V. The Hausdorff functor which, for every V-category X, provides the powerset of X with a suitable V-category structure, is part of a monad on V-Cat whose Eilenberg-Moore algebras are order-complete. The Gromov construction may be pursued for any endofunctor K of V-Cat. In order to define the Gromov “distance” between V-categories X and Y we use V-modules between X and Y, rather than V-category structures on the disjoint union of X and Y. Hence, we first provide a general extension theorem which, for any K, yields a lax extension to the category V-Mod of V-categories, with V-modules as morphisms.  相似文献

Abstract

The well-known power algebra construction is investigated from a categorical point of view. We establish basic categorical properties, from which we deduce the Homomorphism and Isomorphism Theorems for power algebras. We show that the power algebra construction induces a monad, called the power algebra monad, and determine the associated Eilenberg-Moore category as well as the associated Kleisli category.  相似文献

We generalise the correspondence between Lawvere theories and finitary monads on in two ways. First, we allow our theories to be enriched in a category V that is locally finitely presentable as a symmetric monoidal closed category: symmetry is convenient but not necessary. And second, we allow the arities of our theories to be finitely presentable objects of a locally finitely presentable V-category A. We call the resulting notion that of a Lawvere A-theory. We extend the correspondence for ordinary Lawvere theories to one between Lawvere A-theories and finitary V-monads on A. We illustrate this with examples leading up to that of the Lawvere -theory for cartesian closed categories, i.e., the -enriched theory on the category for which the models are all small cartesian closed categories. We also briefly investigate change-of-base.  相似文献

The work of the present author and his coauthors over the past years gives evidence that it may be useful to regard each topological space as a kind of enriched category, by interpreting the convergence relation xx between ultrafilters and points of a topological space X as arrows in X. Naturally, this point of view opens the door to the use of concepts and ideas from enriched Category Theory for the investigation of topological spaces. Topological theories introduced by the author provide a convenient general setting for appropriately transferring these concepts and ideas to the world of topological spaces and some other geometric objects such as approach spaces. Using tools like adjunction and the Yoneda lemma, we show that the cocomplete spaces are precisely the injective spaces, and they are algebras for a suitable monad on . This way we obtain enriched versions of known results about injective topological spaces and continuous lattices.  相似文献

For a Heyting algebra V which, as a category, is monoidal closed, we obtain characterizations of exponentiable objects and morphisms in the category of V-categories and apply them to some well-known examples. In the case these characterizations of exponentiable morphisms and objects in the categories (P)Met of (pre)metric spaces and non-expansive maps show in particular that exponentiable metric spaces are exactly the almost convex metric spaces, while exponentiable complete metric spaces are the complete totally convex ones.  相似文献

Motivated by constructions in the representation theory of finite dimensional algebras we generalize the notion of Artin-Schelter regular algebras of dimension n to algebras and categories to include Auslander algebras and a graded analogue for infinite representation type. A generalized Artin-Schelter regular algebra or a category of dimension n is shown to have common properties with the classical Artin-Schelter regular algebras. In particular, when they admit a duality, then they satisfy Serre duality formulas and the -category of nice sets of simple objects of maximal projective dimension n is a finite length Frobenius category.  相似文献

We study and develop a very new object introduced by V.I. Arnold: a monad is a triple consisting of a finite set, a map from that finite set to itself and the monad graph which is the directed graph whose vertices are the elements of the finite set and whose arrows lead each vertex to its image (by the map). We consider the case in which the finite set entering in the monad definition is a finite group G and the map is the Frobenius map, for some kZ. We study the Frobenius dynamical system defined by the iteration of the monad fk, and also study the combinatorics and topology (i.e., the discrete invariants) of the monad graph. Our study provides useful information about several structures on the group associated to the monad graph. So, for example, several properties of the quadratic residues of finite commutative groups can be obtained in terms of the graph of the Frobenius monad .  相似文献

This is the last in a series on configurations in an abelian category A. Given a finite poset (I,?), an (I,?)-configuration (σ,ι,π) is a finite collection of objects σ(J) and morphisms ι(J,K) or in A satisfying some axioms, where J,K are subsets of I. Configurations describe how an object X in A decomposes into subobjects. The first paper defined configurations and studied moduli spaces of configurations in A, using Artin stacks. It showed well-behaved moduli stacks ObjA,MA(I,?) of objects and configurations in A exist when A is the abelian category coh(P) of coherent sheaves on a projective scheme P, or mod-KQ of representations of a quiver Q. The second studied algebras of constructible functions and stack functions on ObjA.The third introduced stability conditions(τ,T,?) on A, and showed the moduli space of τ-semistable objects in class α is a constructible subset in ObjA, so its characteristic function is a constructible function. It formed algebras , , , of constructible and stack functions on ObjA, and proved many identities in them.In this paper, if (τ,T,?) and are stability conditions on A we write in terms of the , and deduce the algebras are independent of (τ,T,?). We study invariants or Iss(I,?,κ,τ) ‘counting’ τ-semistable objects or configurations in A, which satisfy additive and multiplicative identities. We compute them completely when A=mod-KQ or A=coh(P) for P a smooth curve. We also find invariants with special properties when A=coh(P) for P a smooth surface with nef, or a Calabi-Yau 3-fold.  相似文献

Let k be an algebraically closed field and A a k-linear hereditary category satisfying Serre duality with no infinite radicals between the preprojective objects. If A is generated by the preprojective objects, then we show that A is derived equivalent to for a so-called strongly locally finite quiver Q. To this end, we introduce light cone distances and round trip distances on quivers which will be used to investigate sections in stable translation quivers of the form ZQ.  相似文献

The paper deals with the question whether it is sufficient, when investigating the problem of the effectiveness of a descent morphism, to restrict the consideration only to the descent data (C,γ,ξ), where γ lies in a certain morphism class. The notion of a factorization system and the dual to the amalgamation property in the sense of Kiss, Marki, Pröhle and Tholen play the key role in our discussion. It is shown that a category inherits from a category the property that all descent morphisms are effective if either is regular and is a full coreflective, closed under pullbacks of certain epimorphisms, subcategory of or is regular, has coequalizers and there exists a topological functor . This implies that in the category of topological spaces, all regular monomorphisms are effective codescent morphisms (the result of Mantovani). The same is shown to be valid also for the categories of compact Hausdorff topological spaces, normal topological spaces, Banach spaces, (quasi-)uniform spaces, and (quasi-)proximity spaces. Moreover, the effectiveness of all codescent morphisms is established for the categories of Hausdorff topological spaces and (complete) metric spaces. The internal characterization of such morphisms p:BE is given for the category of Hausdorff topological spaces, in the case of compact B and regular E.  相似文献

We introduce a new cubical model for homotopy types. More precisely, we will define a category QΣ with the following features: QΣ is a prop containing the classical box category as a subcategory; the category of presheaves of sets on QΣ models the homotopy category; and combinatorial symmetric monoidal model categories with cofibrant unit have homotopically well-behaved enrichments.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain a general version of Gabriel-Popescu theorem representing any Grothendieck category as a quotient category of the category of modules over a ring (not necessarily with unit) with enough idempotents to right using a family of generators (Ui)iI of where Ui are not supposed to be small. Applications to locally finite categories are obtained. In particular, for a coalgebra C (over a field) we prove that C is right semiperfect if and only if the category has the AB4∗ condition.  相似文献

We generalize, from additive categories to exact categories, the concept of “Karoubi filtration” and the associated homotopy fibration in algebraic K-theory. As an application, we construct for any idempotent complete exact category an exact category such that .  相似文献

We introduce new polynomial invariants of a finite-dimensional semisimple and cosemisimple Hopf algebra A over a field by using the braiding structures of A. The coefficients of polynomial invariants are integers if is a finite Galois extension of Q, and A is a scalar extension of some finite-dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra over Q. Furthermore, we show that our polynomial invariants are indeed tensor invariants of the representation category of A, and recognize the difference between the representation category and the representation ring of A. Actually, by computing and comparing polynomial invariants, we find new examples of pairs of Hopf algebras whose representation rings are isomorphic, but whose representation categories are distinct.  相似文献

For locally finitely presentable categories it is well known that categories of F-algebras, where F is a finitary endofunctor, are also locally finitely presentable. We prove that this generalizes to locally finitely multipresentable categories. But it fails, in general, for finitely accessible categories: we even present an example of a strongly finitary functor F (one that preserves finitely presentable objects) whose category of F-algebras is not finitely accessible. On the other hand, categories of F-algebras are proved to be ω1-accessible for all strongly finitary functors—and it is an open problem whether this holds for all finitary functors.  相似文献
