We present a detailed study of the dispersion properties of surface magnetostatic waves in layered structures of ferrite and high temperature superconductor (HTSC) layers. We solve the propagation problem for the surface magnetostatic waves under a quasistatic approximation, and obtain the dispersion relation. We present an analysis of this dispersion near the phase transition temperature in the HTSC layer. The calculations show that when the HTSC material transforms to the superconducting state the dispersion properties of the magnetostatic waves changes suddenly: the damping decreases by 4–10 dB and the phase velocity increases by a factor of 2–4. These results support experiments which have been performed, in which surface magnetostatic waves have been studied in a YIG film with gallium impurities and a YBaCuO film on a lithium niobate substrate.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 3, pp. 50–55, March, 1995.  相似文献

This paper describes an experimental study of variations of the dispersion and damping of magnetostatic surface waves in ferrite films, caused by three-and four-magnon interactions with parametric spin waves excited by an auxiliary surface magnetostatic pump wave with frequency f p. The variations in the dispersion and damping were identified, respectively, with variations Δk″ in the real part and Δk′ in the imaginary part of the wave number of the surface magnetostatic wave. The Δk″ and Δk′ values were determined from the ratio of the changes of the phase increment Δφ and the amplitude increment ΔA of the surface magnetostatic wave to the length L of the nonequilibrium section of the film, where the parametric spin waves exist. It is found that, when three-magnon decay processes are allowed for the pump wave and the surface magnetostatic probe wave, the probe wave can substantially alter the distribution of the parametric spin waves in the film. The dispersion relation of magnetostatic waves tangentially magnetized to saturation ferrite film, with a “magnetic wall” condition (tangential component of microwave magnetic field is equal to zero) on one of the film surface and with a metal condition on the opposite surface is analyzed. The dispersion characteristics show that unidirectional magnetostatic waves appear in this structure: they can transfer energy in one direction only and fundamentally cannot transfer energy in the opposite direction. The dispersion-free propagation of magnetostatic waves also is possible in the structure in a wide frequency interval.  相似文献

The propagation of surface magnetostatic waves in a ferromagnetic film of variable thickness having a planar periodic structure in the form of a grating of etched parallel strips (one-dimensional magnon crystal) has been investigated. The dispersion characteristics of surface magnetostatic waves have been calculated using the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin method. The intrinsic error of the method has been estimated, and the magnon spectrum of the surface magnetostatic wave has been studied. An analysis of the dispersion characteristics and the transmission capacity of these structures has demonstrated that they can be used for designing narrow-band and comb filters.  相似文献

The general regularities of the evolution of the spectrum of magnetostatic waves in a periodic system composed of alternating ferromagnetic and nonmagnetic layers are analyzed. The spectrum of electromagnetic waves in an infinite periodic system and the coefficient of reflection of a plane electromagnetic wave from a half-space periodically filled with ferromagnetic and nonmagnetic layers are calculated. The dispersion relation is derived and analyzed for surface magnetostatic waves at the interface between the periodic system of layers and vacuum.  相似文献

The propagation of zero-exchange spin waves (magnetostatic waves) is investigated in yttrium iron garnet films having a regular stripe domain structure with almost in-plane orientation of the domain magnetization vectors. The characteristics of the waves are studied for magnetizations of the film parallel and perpendicular to projections of the [111] crystallographic axes onto the plane of the film. It is established, in contrast with films having the domain magnetization vectors oriented close to the normal to the plane of the film, that both the propagation of magnetostatic waves and the variation of the parameters of the domain structure exhibit a distinctly pronounced hysteretic character as the magnetizing field is varied. The hysteresis of the amplitude-frequency response, equiphase, and dispersion curves of the magnetostatic waves is investigated. The authors examine how the hysteresis of these parameters is related to the hysteresis of the domain structure. The spectrum of magnetostatic waves is found to have an interval of wavelengths (wave numbers) that are not excited in the unsaturated film when the applied field is close to the saturation value, and this phenomenon as well exhibits hysteresis. The magnetostatic spin wave theory in (111)-oriented ferromagnetic films characterized by cubic and uniaxial anisotropies (CUA) is developed. The theory is discussed for two cases when the magnetization vector is perpendicular or parallel to the sample plane. In CUA films, instead of the usually discussed magnetostatic surface waves known for the isotropic case, a new type of surface waves was found with the complex wavevector component normal to the surface. It is shown that for the pure yttrium-iron-garnet film the influence of the CUA effects on the dispersion characteristics of the surface waves is not very substantial.  相似文献

The effect of dispersion on the propagation of linear rectangular pulses of magnetostatic waves in YIG films is studied. With surface magnetostatic waves propagating in YIG films and composite ferrite-insulator-metal structures, it is demonstrated that, for the near-rectangular phase-unmodulated input pulse and the distance between input and output transducers equal roughly to half the dispersion length of the pulse, the FWHM of the output pulses is 50–60% of the initial value. This fact can be used for estimating the dispersion coefficient of magnetostatic waves.  相似文献

General dispersion equations for the magnetostatic modes in infinite and semi-infinite superlattices are derived by the transfer matrix method for the case of superlattices with an elementary unit consisting of N (N arbitrary) ferromagnetic layers. The films are assumed to be magnetized parallel to the film surfaces and parallel to an external magnetic field. Explicit forms of the dispersion equations, together with exemplary dispersion curves of surface modes and bands of bulk waves, are given in the case of N = 2.  相似文献

Quasisurface magnetostatic waves propagating in a ferrite film along two magnetized channels are simulated numerically. It is shown that the interaction between the channels is manifested differently, depending on the wavelength. In the long-wavelength region the interaction between the channels has a distributed character; in the short-wavelength region the interaction between the channels appears as if it takes place at their boundary. The magnetized region of the ferrite film between the channels behaves both as a conductor of the alternating field and as a medium with eigenmodes, so that under certain conditions the waveguide can be transformed into a three-channel structure. The dispersion curves of the magnetostatic wave modes of a two-channel waveguide lie in zones bounded by the dispersion curves of the corresponding modes of a one-channel waveguide of double width. As the gap between the channels increases, the dispersion curves of the odd modes shift toward shorter wavelengths, and those of the even modes shift toward longer wavelengths. Zh. Tekh. The influence of exchange coupling of layers on the propagation of magnetostatic dipole volume waves in normally and tangentially magnetized two-layer epitaxial ferrite structures is investigated. It is shown that the indicated influence is manifested in the form of dynamic spin pinning effects on the interlayer boundary and formation of a common dipole-exchange wave spectrum for the entire structure. In this case, at the synchronism frequencies of the dipole and exchange waves the losses of the dipole waves grow and anomalous segments appear in the dispersion. In films magnetized in the “hard” direction relative to the axis of normal uniaxial surface anisotropy the magnetostatic dipole volume waves can interact resonantly with the surface spin waves supported by the boundaries with pinned spins. Bragg interaction of surface magnetostatic waves with a periodic granular high-temperature superconducting structure is studied. A dispersion equation for coupled waves describing the characteristics of surface magnetostatic waves is derived. Resonance wave absorption near the critical temperature is revealed. The magnetostatic wave reflection coefficients of semi-infinite and finite periodic high-temperature superconducting structures are calculated. The results obtained can be used in designing tunable frequency selectors and transient bolometric photodetectors.  相似文献

The propagation of magnetostatic gap waves in the gap between two oppositely magnetized ferromagnets with a relative longitudinal displacement is considered. It is shown that the relative motion of the crystals has the form of the spectrum of magnetostatic waves. In particular, it is found that for certain values of the gap width, the velocity of relative motion of the crystals, and the magnetostatic wavelength, normal (anomalous) dispersion of the symmetric (antisymmetric) mode of the gap structure is transformed into the anomalous (normal) type of dispersion.  相似文献

The propagation of magnetostatic waves in a waveguide ferromagnetic channel formed by exposing a ferromagnetic film to a step bias is simulated. Both weak and strong channel couplings are considered. The dispersion characteristics and the distributions of wave functions are calculated. It is shown that the amplitudes of “half-waves” fitting into the channel width alternately increase and decrease with increasing frequency and the half-waves pass into the channel with the largest bias.  相似文献

We consider the Sagnac effect in ring interferometers on magnetostatic and surface acoustic waves. It is shown that the Sagnac effect for waves of arbitrary type (including both magnetostatic and surface acoustic waves) propagating in an arbitrary medium cannot be calculated using Galilean transformations but is explained within the framework of the special relativity and is related to the difference between the phase velocities rather than group velocities of counter-propagating waves in the rotating reference frame. We also show that the phase difference of counterpropagating waves due to the Sagnac effect depends on neither the phase velocity of the wave in a medium at rest nor the dispersion of the medium; it depends only on the wave frequency and the angular velocity of interferometer rotation. The minimum angular velocity that can be measured in the ring interferometers using magnetostatic and surface acoustic waves is estimated. N. I. A thin-film structure consisting of a ferrite and a high-T c superconductor was used to investigate the effct of the transport current in the superconductor on the amplitude-frequency characteristic and dispersion of surface magnetostatic waves (MSWs) in a ferrite film. It was found that the nature of energy transfer between the MSWs and the superconducting film undergoes a significant change as the transport current is varied. In particular, in one of the current ranges, energy can be transferred both from the MSWs to the superconductor and back again, whereas in another range it can only be efficently transferred to the superconductor. The spectral properties of magnetostatic waves in a ferromagnet with a moving periodic domain structure are considered within the exchange-free magnetostatic approximation. It is demonstrated that the Doppler frequency shift caused by the domain-wall motion leads to the splitting of the spectrum of each magnetostatic wave mode into two dispersion branches, namely, into high-frequency and low-frequency branches. It is established that the larger the mode number, the larger the separation between these branches with respect to the mode spectrum in the presence of the static domain structure.  相似文献

Wideband chaotic microwave oscillation in a ring self-oscillatory system is studied. The system includes a solid-state power amplifier and a wideband nonlinear transmission line with a ferromagnetic film in which magnetostatic waves of different types are excited. It is found that the eigenmodes of the self-oscillatory system excited in the passband of the transmission line on magnetostatic waves become noisy because of spin wave parametric excitation due to the magnetostatic wave and nonlinearity of the power amplifier. A continuous spectrum of modes observed in the wideband chaotic signal is associated with the presence of a descending portion in the dynamic characteristic of the nonlinear transmission line, which arises when a magnetostatic surface wave is excited.  相似文献

Features of the propagation of magnetostatic waves in a tangentially magnetized magnonic crystal structure based on iron–yttrium garnet with a two-dimensional array of grooves on the surface are studied. Numerical simulation is performed by the finite element method and the dispersion characteristics and the spatial distribution of fields of eigenmodes of surface magnetostatic waves propagating in this structure are calculated. The characteristics of waves in the magnonic crystal structure are experimentally studied by means of Brillouin scattering. It is shown that the formation of waveguide channels is possible when the frequency of the input signal is close to the frequency of the band gap of the structure.  相似文献

Modulation instability of direct bulk magnetostatic waves in structures consisting of two magnetically coupled planar films separated by a nonmagnetic layer is studied. It is found that, depending on the type of excitation of the waveguide modes, mode coupling can either change the characteristics of the modulation wave instability or ensure their stability with respect to the corresponding perturbations by affecting the dispersion properties of the structure.  相似文献
