Sequences of cubature formulas with a joint countable set of nodes are studied. Each cubature formula under consideration has only a finite number of nonzero weights. We call a sequence of such kind a multicubature formula. For a given reflexive Banach space it is shown that there is a unique optimal multicubature formula and the sequence of the norm of optimal error functionals is monotonically decreasing to 0 as the number of the formula nodes tends to infinity.  相似文献

The paper presents a closure theorem for the attainable trajectories of a class of control systems governed by a large class of nonlinear evolution equations in reflexive Banach spaces. Several existence theorems for optimal controls are proven that include a terminal control problem, a time-optimal control problem, and a special Bolza problem. In this paper, we examine relaxed control systems governed by evolution inclusions in a separable Banach space. First, we establish the existence of admissible trajectories, correcting an earlier result of Ahmed. Then, we obtain a compactness result for the set of admissible trajectories. Using this compactness result, we prove the existence of optimal solutions for optimal control problems; furthermore, we show that the values of the original and relaxed problems are equal. Finally, we show that the original trajectories are dense in the set of relaxed trajectories. An example is worked out.This research was supported by NSF Grant No. DMS-86-02313.  相似文献

It is an open problem whether an infinite-dimensional amenable Banach algebra exists whose underlying Banach space is reflexive. We give sufficient conditions for a reflexive, amenable Banach algebra to be finite-dimensional (and thus a finite direct sum of full matrix algebras). If \frak A {\frak A} is a reflexive, amenable Banach algebra such that for each maximal left ideal L of \frak A {\frak A} (i) the quotient \frak A/L {\frak A}/L has the approximation property and (ii) the canonical map from \frak A \check? L^ {\frak A} \check{\otimes} L^\perp to (\frak A / L) \check? L^ ({\frak A} / L) \check{\otimes} L^\perp is open, then \frak A {\frak A} is finite-dimensional. As an application, we show that, if \frak A {\frak A} is an amenable Banach algebra whose underlying Banach space is an \scr Lp {\scr L}^p -space with p ? (1,¥) p\in (1,\infty) such that for each maximal left ideal L the quotient \frak A/L {\frak A}/L has the approximation property, then \frak A {\frak A} is finite-dimensional.  相似文献

Motivated by applications to (directionally) Lipschitz functions, we provide a general result on the almost everywhere Gâteaux differentiability of real-valued functions on separable Banach spaces, when the function is monotone with respect to an ordering induced by a convex cone with non-empty interior. This seemingly arduous restriction is useful, since it covers the case of directionally Lipschitz functions, and necessary. We show by way of example that most results fail more generally.
