In this paper we propose a measurement method that uses a laser diode (LD) attached to a flying slider and a semi-transparent rotating disk mirror for an extremely-short-external-cavity configuration. Not only the wavelength, but also the spectrum and the light output are measured at room temperature with the external cavity length, the reflectivities of the LD facets and the external mirror, and the drive current as parameters. We have confirmed wavelength variation as great as 30 nm by changing the external-cavity length for a 1.3-$mUm wavelength laser diode with an antireflection coating on the LD facet facing the external mirror.  相似文献

In this work we describe a simple external-cavity laser diode equipped with a feedback control system, in which a high-resolution position-sensitive detector detects the slight misalignment of the light within the cavity. Our system not only provides a stable wavelength that can be tuned within a maximum scanning range of 1.87 nm, but also allows for faster scanning, through precise control of the reflection angle within the cavity. The simultaneous controls on the rotation-angle of the external mirror and the injection current enabled us to realize continuous wavelength-tuning.  相似文献

端面镀增透膜的激光二极管构成的光栅外腔激光器(ECLD)中,考虑到镀膜端面剩余反射率对波长的依赖关系以后,利用等效腔法导出了该激光器阈值载流子密度随波长变化的解析表达式,以此为出发点,讨论了增透膜反射率极小位置对调谐范围的影响。结果表明,除了增大剩余反射率工和降低剩余反射率能够提高调谐范围这一明显结论这外,在镀膜工艺确定的情况下,即假定剩余反射率带宽和剩余反射率极小值变化不大时,通过控制剩余反射率极小值所对应的波长相对于镀膜前增益峰的偏移量,可进一步拓宽波长调谐范围。  相似文献

考虑到端面反射率与波长有关 ,且带宽有限的实验事实 ,以及增益谱随载流子密度变化的因素 ,着重分析了激光二极管 (L D)镀膜端面反射率带宽、极小波长位置参量对光栅外腔激光器 (ECL D)调谐范围的影响。分析表明 ,除了 L D镀膜端面剩余反射率值、外腔反馈效率等因素之外 ,增大反射率带宽、精确控制极小波长位置是进一步挖掘 ECL D调谐范围的有效措施。增大反射率带宽 ,可更有效地提高参考载流子密度 ,延伸长波长端调谐区域 ,抑制 F- P腔影响。在确定的条件下 ,优化后的极小波长位置对应于调谐范围的极大值。理论分析结果较好地解释了实验现象  相似文献

 基于多波长光束组合技术,利用光栅的衍射和外腔的反馈,将激光二极管阵列(LDA)发光单元锁定在不同的波长上,以近似平行光束沿光栅的-1级衍射方向组合输出,改善LDA输出光束质量。实验采用发光单元宽度为100 μm、周期为500 μm,由19个单元构成的1 cm普通商用LDA,在连续运行最大注入电流60.6 A时,自由运转输出功率49.8 W时,获得功率为20.1 W的组合光束稳定输出,其光谱宽度为15 nm,对应的远场发散角由约70 mrad变为1.66 mrad,改善后光束质量因子约为32,其值与单个发光单元的光束质量相当。  相似文献

A broadband tunable grating-coupled external cavity laser is realized by employing a self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum-dot (QD) superluminescent diode (SLD) as the gain device. The SLD device is processed with a bent-waveguide structure and facet antireflection (AR) coating. Tuning bandwidths of 106 nm and 117 nm are achieved under 3-A and 3.5-A injection currents, respectively. The large tuning range originates essentially from the broad gain spectrum of self-assembled QDs. The bent waveguide structure combined with the facet AR coating plays a role in suppressing the inner-cavity lasing under a large injection current.  相似文献

对宽带调谐外腔半导体激光器进行了理论及实验研究,分析了其最大调谐范围和连续调谐条件,为宽带可调谐激光器的设计提供了依据。完成了实用化的程控宽带连续调上腔激光器,该器件调谐范围超过75nm,波长重复性精度为1nm,分辨率为0.01nm。  相似文献

由于外腔半导体激光器系统中的核心部分——激光器受外界环境影响较大,在装配或工作中极易受到电压、电流和静电荷的影响而损坏.为减少由于电路不稳定产生的激光器损坏,在借鉴各种传统的恒流源电路实现方式的基础上,运用反馈恒流原理,慢启动慢关闭原理,利用场效应管特性,给出一种高准确度恒流电路实现方式.将此电路直接运用于中心波长1550 nm激光器作为驱动电路,工作稳定、输出电流受负载影响很小且输出准确度达到同行业先进水平.电流稳定达到0.01%以上.此电路实现方式简单,实用性较强,对整个电路做出了实验仿真和测试,很好地解决了由于驱动电流不稳造成的激光器损坏的问题.  相似文献

Abstract: Conventional Raman techniques require a continuous-wave laser with stabilized wavelength, narrow line width, and sufficient output power. Due to their miniature size and low cost, diode lasers are good choice as light sources for Raman spectroscopy, especially when compact and portable instruments are needed. However, a solitary multimode diode laser has certain drawbacks that limit its use for Raman application. To circumvent these drawbacks, an external cavity can be coupled to the active gain medium of the diode to enhance the laser performance. A grating-based external cavity allows the laser to operate in a single longitudinal mode with greatly reduced line width and stabilized wavelength. This article examines the fundamentals of semiconductor lasers to show the necessity of operating diode lasers in an external cavity for Raman applications. Two feedback grating-based external cavity diode laser (ECDL) designs, viz. Littrow and Littman-Metcalf configurations, are explained. Historic and recent progress in the development of ECDL devices is reported. An updated summary of ECDL-equipped Raman systems applied to fields such as in vivo biomedical studies and in situ process/quality control is provided. Topics on mode-hop-free continuous scanning, wavelength stabilization, and dealing with ambient conditions are discussed.  相似文献

设计并制作了1.55 μm偏振无关半导体光放大器腔面TiO2/SiO2多层减反膜, 工艺过程中设计并使用了反射率实时监控装置, 得到了低于5×10-4的腔面剩余反射率. 器件测试结果表明, 管芯在250 mA电流下仍处于未激射状态, 表明减反膜有效抑制了芯片的激射. 半导体光放大器的自发辐射(ASE)谱波动在0.4 dB以下, 3 dB带宽大于52 nm, 半导体光放大器小信号增益近27 dB, 在1520~1580 nm波长范围内偏振灵敏度小于0.5 dB.  相似文献

基于原有的Littman结构外腔半导体激光器,提出采用一种新的光学方法来实现波长调谐。该方法采用了包含一个旋转楔形棱镜的“光杠杆”系统来降低调谐的机械要求,提高波长选择精度。通过选择不同的楔形棱镜顶角和光线入射角,机械要求可以降低1~2个数量级,波长选择精度也得到相同量级的提高。该方法使Littman结构外腔半导体激光器的调谐特性得到极大的改善,并大大降低了震动的敏感性。  相似文献

提出一种用法布里—珀罗腔半导体激光器(F—PLD)作调制器,用线性凋啾光栅(LCFG)进行波长选择的双波长环形腔主动锁模光纤激光器。利用线性凋啾光栅在腔内的色散效应使两个波长的光脉冲通过饵光纤(EDF)时在时域上分开,从而威小了不同波长的光脉冲同时通过饵光纤时造成的竞争,因此可以在室温下获得波长间隔较小的稳定的双波长光脉冲输出。实验中成功地获得了重复频率约为2GHz,波长间隔为0.92nm的稳定双波长光脉冲,并通过调谐线性凋啾光栅中心波长的位置使激光波长可以在约3nm范围内调谐。  相似文献

Multi-layer optical coatings with complex spectrum requirements, such as multi-band pass filters, notch filters, and ultra-broadband antireflection coating, which usually contain very thin layers and sensitive layers, are difficult to be fabricated using a quartz crystal monitoring method or a single wavelength optical monitoring system(SWLOMS). In this paper, a broadband antireflection(AR) coating applied in the wavelength range from 800 nm to 1800 nm was designed and deposited by ion beam sputtering(IBS). Ta_2O_5 and Si O_2 were chosen as high and low refractive index coating materials,respectively. The optimized coating structure contains 9 non-quarter-wave(QW) layers totally with ultra-thin layers and sensitive layers in this coating stack. In order to obtain high transmittance, it is very important to realize the thickness accurate control on these thin layers and sensitive layers. A broadband optical monitoring mixed with time monitoring strategy was successfully used to control the layer thickness during the deposition process. At last, the measured transmittance of AR coating is quite close to the theoretical value. A 0.6% variation in short wavelength edge across the central 180 mm diameter is demonstrated. A spectrum shift of less than 0.5% for 2 continuous runs is also presented.  相似文献

用体布拉格光栅(VBG)作为反馈元件与瓦级半导体激光器(LD)以及快轴准直柱透镜构成一个可以将半导体激光器的工作波长稳定在体布拉格光栅布拉格波长处的外腔激光器。测量了体布拉格光栅外腔激光器的波长稳定性与其工作电流、热汇温度、激光束准直装置等因素的关系。分析了波长稳定效果与半导体激光器增益谱特性、外腔结构参量等因素的关系。研究表明,在相同的工作电流、热汇温度下,当准直柱透镜直径为0.4 mm时的波长稳定效果较好;在此情况下,当热汇温度控制在30℃,工作电流从0.5 A增加到1.5 A的测量范围内,以及当工作电流固定在1.5 A,热汇温度从20℃增加到35℃时,测得的光谱特性表明,半导体激光器的工作波长可以很好地稳定在体布拉格光栅的布拉格波长处。与该激光器在同样条件下自由运转的光谱比较,可以看到,自由运转激射波长与体布拉格光栅的布拉格波长差值小于2.6 nm情况下,可以获得很好的波长稳定效果。实验也表明,当该值大于4.8 nm时波长稳定效果变差。  相似文献

设计了一种离轴双反馈外腔能够有效地改善激光二极管阵列的线宽和光束质量。闪耀光栅和高反镜之间形成了一个共振腔。通过调整光栅和高反镜之间的倾角可以选定一个空间模在共振腔中放大。将一个半波片插入外腔中的光栅反馈支路,来控制反馈光的数量,激光从光栅反馈支路输出。运用这项技术,在工作电流16 A,可以把激光二极管阵列的输出线宽压缩到0.15 nm,光束束宽积减小到283 mm.mrad。由于光栅的锁定作用,中心波长几乎不随温度的变化而改变。在工作电流17A时,输出激光的功率为2.44 W,斜率效率为0.5 W/A。  相似文献
