We study the influence of geometry of quantum systems underlying space of states on its quantum many-body dynamics. We observe an interplay between dynamical and topological ingredients of quantum nonequilibrium dynamics revealed by the geometrical structure of the quantum space of states. As a primary example we use the anisotropic XY ring in a transverse magnetic field with an additional time-dependent flux. In particular, if the flux insertion is slow, nonadiabatic transitions in the dynamics are dominated by the dynamical phase. In the opposite limit geometric phase strongly affects transition probabilities. This interplay can lead to a nonequilibrium phase transition between these two regimes. We also analyze the effect of geometric phase on defect generation during crossing a quantum-critical point.  相似文献

We study the effect of quantum dynamics on geometrically frustrated magnets for a transverse field Ising model at finite temperatures. We develop a microscopic derivation of the Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson action for this model and show that it can be interpreted as the free energy of a 3D elastic lattice of noncrossing strings. As a first application, we quantitatively predict the phase diagram and correlations, confirming excellently a key prediction of recent simulations about the existence of unusual phase transitions and an ordered phase. We discuss the implications of our string picture for the understanding of the effect of quenched disorder in such quantum frustrated systems.  相似文献

We show how continuous matrix product states of quantum fields can be described in terms of the dissipative nonequilibrium dynamics of a lower-dimensional auxiliary boundary field by demonstrating that the spatial correlation functions of the bulk field correspond to the temporal statistics of the boundary field. This equivalence (1) illustrates an intimate connection between the theory of continuous quantum measurement and quantum field theory, (2) gives an explicit construction of the boundary field allowing the extension of real-space renormalization group methods to arbitrary dimensional quantum field theories without the introduction of a lattice parameter, and (3) yields a novel interpretation of recent cavity QED experiments in terms of quantum field theory, and hence paves the way toward observing genuine quantum phase transitions in such zero-dimensional driven quantum systems.  相似文献

We investigate a two-level atom interacting with a quantized cavity field and a classical driving field in the presence of phase decoherence and find that a stationary quantum discord can arise in the interaction of the atom and cavity field as the time turns to infinity. We also find that the stationary quantum discord can be increased by applying a classical driving field. Furthermore, we explore the quantum discord dynamics of two identical non-interacting two-level atoms independently interacting with a quantized cavity field and a classical driving field in the presence of phase decoherence. Results show that the quantum discord between two atoms is more robust than entanglement under phase decoherence and the classical driving field can help to improve the amount of quantum discord of the two atoms.  相似文献

We present a theoretical investigation of the multiphoton resonance dynamics in the high-order-harmonic generation(HHG) process driven by a strong driving continuous wave(CW) field along with a weak control harmonic field. The Floquet theorem is employed to provide a nonperturbative and exact treatment of the interaction between a quantum system and the combined laser field.Multiple multiphoton-transition paths for the harmonic emission are coherently summed. The phase information about paths can be extracted via the Fourier transform analysis of the harmonic signals which oscillate as a function of the relative phase between driving and control fields.Phase jumps are observed when sweeping across the resonance by varying the frequency or intensity of the driving field. The phase variation as a function of driving frequency at a fixed intensity and as a function of the intensity at a fixed driving frequency allows us to determine the intensity dependence of the transition energy of quantum systems.  相似文献

We investigate the role of disorder for field-driven quantum phase transitions of metallic antiferromagnets. For systems with sufficiently low symmetry, the combination of a uniform external field and non-magnetic impurities leads effectively to a random magnetic field which strongly modifies the behavior close to the critical point. Using perturbative renormalization group, we investigate in which regime of the phase diagram the disorder affects critical properties. In heavy fermion systems where even weak disorder can lead to strong fluctuations of the local Kondo temperature, the random field effects are especially pronounced. We study possible manifestation of random field effects in experiments and discuss in this light neutron scattering results for the field driven quantum phase transition in CeCu5.8Au0.2.  相似文献

Recently, quantum simulation of low-dimensional lattice gauge theories(LGTs)has attracted many interests, which may improve our understanding of strongly correlated quantum many-body systems. Here,we propose an implementation to approximate Z;LGT on superconducting quantum circuits, where the effective theory is a mixture of a LGT and a gauge-broken term.By using matrix product state based methods, both the ground state properties and quench dynamics are systematically investigated. With an increase of the transverse(electric)field, the system displays a quantum phase transition from a disordered phase to a translational symmetry breaking phase. In the ordered phase,an approximate Gauss law of the Z;LGT emerges in the ground state. Moreover,to shed light on the experiments,we also study the quench dynamics, where there is a dynamical signature of the spontaneous translational symmetry breaking. The spreading of the single particle of matter degree is diffusive under the weak transverse field, while it is ballistic with small velocity for the strong field.Furthermore, due to the emergent Gauss law under the strong transverse field, the matter degree can also exhibit confinement dynamics which leads to a strong suppression of the nearest-neighbor hopping. Our results pave the way for simulating the LGT on superconducting circuits, including the quantum phase transition and quench dynamics.  相似文献

We consider a simple approach of standard Ginzburg--Landau free-energy functional for a wire to study the properties of superconducting nanowires, and analyze the problem of quantum and thermally activated phase slips. In such systems one can consider a possibility for phase slips to be created not only due to thermal but also due to quantum fluctuations of a uperconducting order parameter. We obtain some expressions of the free energy, the entropy, the specific heat and the bias current, respectively. The bias current I is a function of the temperature and the length of superconducting nanowires, and has a quantum phase slip. We obtain the stochastic dynamics of superconductive-resistive switching in hysteretic current-biased superconducting nanowires undergoing phase-slip fluctuations, and obtain the distribution of switching currents. Our results can be verified in modern experiments with superconducting nanowires.  相似文献

Quantum simulators are controllable systems that can be used to simulate other quantum systems. Here we focus on the dynamics of a chain of molecular qubits with interposed antiferromagnetic dimers. We theoretically show that its dynamics can be controlled by means of uniform magnetic pulses and used to mimic the evolution of other quantum systems, including fermionic ones. We propose two proof-of-principle experiments based on the simulation of the Ising model in a transverse field and of the quantum tunneling of the magnetization in a spin-1 system.  相似文献

There is a close analogy between the dynamics of electrons in a strong magnetic field and the dynamics of quantized vortices in superfluids and superconductors. In both systems an important part is played by a term in the Lagrangian linear in velocity that corresponds to a Berry phase in the quantum theory. This Berry phase can be calculated from the usual trial wave function for a vortex. This has important consequences for quantum tunneling of vortices, and leads unambiguously to the form of the Magnus force in a superconductor.  相似文献

We discuss a phase space representation of quantum dynamics of systems with many degrees of freedom. This representation is based on a perturbative expansion in quantum fluctuations around one of the classical limits. We explicitly analyze expansions around three such limits: (i) corpuscular or Newtonian limit in the coordinate-momentum representation, (ii) wave or Gross-Pitaevskii limit for interacting bosons in the coherent state representation, and (iii) Bloch limit for the spin systems. We discuss both the semiclassical (truncated Wigner) approximation and further quantum corrections appearing in the form of either stochastic quantum jumps along the classical trajectories or the nonlinear response to such jumps. We also discuss how quantum jumps naturally emerge in the analysis of non-equal time correlation functions. This representation of quantum dynamics is closely related to the phase space methods based on the Wigner-Weyl quantization and to the Keldysh technique. We show how such concepts as the Wigner function, Weyl symbol, Moyal product, Bopp operators, and others automatically emerge from the Feynmann's path integral representation of the evolution in the Heisenberg representation. We illustrate the applicability of this expansion with various examples mostly in the context of cold atom systems including sine-Gordon model, one- and two-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model, Dicke model and others.  相似文献

We study the quantum transport through entropic barriers induced by hardwall constrictions of hyperboloidal shape in two and three spatial dimensions. Using the separability of the Schrödinger equation and the classical equations of motion for these geometries, we study in detail the quantum transmission probabilities and the associated quantum resonances, and relate them to the classical phase structures which govern the transport through the constrictions. These classical phase structures are compared to the analogous structures which, as has been shown only recently, govern reaction type dynamics in smooth systems. Although the systems studied in this paper are special due their separability they can be taken as a guide to study entropic barriers resulting from constriction geometries that lead to non-separable dynamics.  相似文献

Josephson-junction arrays are ideal model systems to study a variety of phenomena such as phase transitions, frustration effects, vortex dynamics and chaos. In this review, we focus on the quantum dynamical properties of low-capacitance Josephson-junction arrays. The two characteristic energy scales in these systems are the Josephson energy, associated with the tunneling of Cooper pairs between neighboring islands, and the charging energy, which is the energy needed to add an extra electron charge to a neutral island. The phenomena described in this review stem from the competition between single-electron effects with the Josephson effect. They give rise to (quantum) superconductor–insulator phase transitions that occur when the ratio between the coupling constants is varied or when the external fields are varied. We describe the dependence of the various control parameters on the phase diagram and the transport properties close to the quantum critical points. On the superconducting side of the transition, vortices are the topological excitations. In low-capacitance junction arrays these vortices behave as massive particles that exhibit quantum behavior. We review the various quantum–vortex experiments and theoretical treatments of their quantum dynamics.  相似文献

Rapidly evolving non-equilibrium phenomena, associated with phase transitions from meta-stable states, provide examples of most complex dynamics. Condensed matter many-particle quantum systems, which are described in terms of a coherent quantum field, are a particularly useful environment for such studies. Among them, the 3He superfluids display the largest variety of topological defects of different dimensionality and structure, owing to the large degree of freedom in the rearrangement of their multi-component p-wave order parameter field. A few measurements exist which monitor the non-equilibrium phase transition dynamics and display defect formation.  相似文献

We introduce an efficient scheme for the molecular dynamics of electronic systems by means of quantum Monte Carlo. The evaluation of the (Born-Oppenheimer) forces acting on the ionic positions is achieved by two main ingredients: (i) the forces are computed with finite and small variance, which allows the simulation of a large number of atoms, (ii) the statistical noise corresponding to the forces is used to drive the dynamics at finite temperature by means of an appropriate Langevin dynamics. A first application to the high-density phase of hydrogen is given, supporting the stability of the liquid phase at approximately 300 GPa and approximately 400 K.  相似文献

We study the influence of quenched disorder on quantum phase transitions in systems with overdamped dynamics. For Ising order-parameter symmetry disorder destroys the sharp phase transition by rounding because a static order parameter can develop on rare spatial regions. This leads to an exponential dependence of the order parameter on the coupling constant. At finite temperatures the static order on the rare regions is destroyed. This restores the phase transition and leads to a double-exponential relation between critical temperature and coupling strength. We discuss the behavior based on Lifshitz-tail arguments and illustrate the results by simulations of a model system.  相似文献

This short review summarizes recent developments and results in connection with point-form dynamics of relativistic quantum systems. We discuss a Poincaré invariant multichannel formalism which describes particle production and annihilation via vertex interactions that are derived from field theoretical interaction densities. We sketch how this rather general formalism can be used to derive electromagnetic form factors of confined quark?Cantiquark systems. As a further application it is explained how the chiral constituent quark model leads to hadronic states that can be considered as bare hadrons dressed by meson loops. Within this approach hadron resonances acquire a finite (non-perturbative) decay width. We will also discuss the point-form dynamics of quantum fields. After recalling basic facts of the free-field case we will address some quantum field theoretical problems for which canonical quantization on a space?Ctime hyperboloid could be advantageous.  相似文献
