Two mixed ligand complexes of ruthenium(ii) [Ru(bzimpy)(bpy)(OH(2))](2+) (1) and [Ru(bzimpy)(phen)(OH(2))](2+) (2) have been synthesized and characterized by FAB mass, (1)H NMR, cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemical measurements. Controlled potential electrolysis of these complexes results in the conversion of ruthenium(ii) to ruthenium(iii) at 0.6 V and ruthenium(iii) to ruthenium(iv) at 0.8 V vs. SCE. The binding constant of these complexes with DNA has been determined electrochemically and found to be (3.58 +/- 0.25) x 10(4) and (2.87+/- 0.2) x 10(4) M(-1). Viscosity measurements suggest that these complexes bind with DNA through intercalation. Such intercalative binding to DNA has been found to induce chirality to the two complexes. Electrochemically generated ruthenium(iv) species of these complexes have been found to bring about oxidative cleavage in DNA.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of two dinuclear ruthenium polypyridyl complexes based on the bridging ligands 5,5'-bis(pyridin-2' '-yl)-3,3'-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazole) and 5,5'-bis(pyrazin-2' '-yl)-3,3'-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazole) and of their mononuclear precursors are reported. The dinuclear compounds have been prepared by a Ni(0) catalyzed coupling of a mononuclear ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complex containing a brominated triazole moiety. Electrochemical and photophysical studies indicate that, in these dinuclear complexes, the protonation state of the bridge may be used to tune the intercomponent interaction between the two metal centers and that these species act as proton driven three-way molecular switches that can be read by electrochemical or luminescence techniques.  相似文献

The first series of cyclometalated ruthenium complexes with a CCC-pincer bis-carbene ligand have been obtained as bench-stable compounds. Single-crystal X-ray analysis of one of these complexes with 4'-di-p-anisylamino-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine is presented. The Ru(II/III) redox potentials and MLCT absorptions of these complexes can be varied by attaching an electron-donating or -withdrawing group on the noncyclometalating ligand.  相似文献

Novel trinuclear ruthenium complexes have been prepared by using tri(4-ethynylphenyl)amine as a bridging ligand. Cyclic voltammetry of the trinuclear ruthenium complexes revealed stepwise quasi-reversible redox behavior of three ruthenium-acetylide species and the central triphenylamine unit, whereas the mononuclear analog showed two sequential quasi-reversible redox waves. The spectroelectrochemical UV-VIS spectral studies suggested that the 1e- oxidized triruthenium species was stable and showed a characteristic absorption at lambda(max) = 505 nm. Chemical oxidation of the triruthenium complex with ferrocenium hexafluorophosphate led to the isolation of the 1e- oxidized complex, the near-IR spectrum of which revealed an intervalence charge transfer band due to the electronic coupling among three ruthenium species. The 1e(-) oxidized triruthenium complexes can be classified as class II mixed-valence compounds.  相似文献

A new bridging ligand, 1-(4-cyanophenyl)imidazole (CPI) has been prepared, as well as its N-methylated derivative 1-methyl-3-(4-cyanophenyl)imidazolium iodide (CPI-Me(+)I(-)). The mononuclear and binuclear complexes [(NH(3))(5)Ru-CPI-Me](3+) and [(NH(3))(5)Ru-CPI-Ru(NH(3))(5)](4+) have been obtained. Free CPI is planar, according to theoretical calculations (MMX and MNDO), and its luminescence properties suggest the occurence of a twisted internal charge transfer (TICT) state. The comparison of the two ruthenium complexes reveals the spectral and electrochemical features of coordination by the cyanophenyl or by the imidazole groups. Controlled oxidation of the binuclear complex [(NH(3))(5)Ru-CPI-Ru(NH(3))(5)](4+) yields the mixed valence species [(NH(3))(5)Ru-CPI-Ru(NH(3))(5)](5+) in which the ruthenium coordinated to the cyanophenyl group is ruthenium(II) while the ruthenium linked to imidazole is ruthenium(III). An intervalence band is observed at 640 nm (epsilon = 188), from which the effective metal-metal coupling through the bridging ligand is determined as 0.032 eV. This value is satisfactorily reproduced by a theoretical calculation using the effective Hamiltonian theory. Finally the binuclear complex exhibits a weak luminescence when excited either on the ligand band near 260 nm or on the metal-to-ligand charge transfer band near 410 nm. The CPI ligand is the first example of a TICT-forming species with appreciable coupling between metallic sites and can be considered as a first step toward a molecular switch.  相似文献

Linkage isomers of bis(bipyridine)(1,2-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinonato)ruthenium(II), 1,2- and 1,9-coordinated complexes, and several of their oxidation products have been prepared chemically and/or electrochemically. For the 1,2-coordinated complex, the one- and two-electron oxidized species have been characterized, and for the 1,9-coordinated complex, the one-electron oxidized species has been characterized. The rich redox activity of these complexes leads to ambiguity in assessing the electronic structure. This paper reports EPR spectra of odd-electron species and detailed analyses of electronic spectra and structure of the complexes, based on INDO molecular orbital calculations. Results of calculations on the related 1-hydroxyanthraquinone complex and the free ligands,1,2-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone (alizarin) and 1-hydroxyanthraquinone, are also briefly discussed.  相似文献

New ruthenium(II) complexes having a tetradentate ligand such as tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA), tris[2-(5-methoxycarbonyl)pyridylmethyl]amine [5-(MeOCO)3-TPA], tris(2-quinolylmethyl)amine (TQA), or bis(2-pyridylmethyl)glycinate (BPG) have been prepared. The reaction of the ligand with [RuCl2(Me2SO)4] resulted in a mixture of trans and cis isomers of the chloro(dimethyl sulfoxide-kappaS)ruthenium(II) complexes containing a TPA or a BPG, whereas a trans(Cl,N(amino)) isomer was selectively obtained for 5-(MeOCO)3-TPA and TQA. The trans and cis isomers of the [RuCl(TPA)(Me2SO)]+ complex were easily separated by fractional recrystallization. The molecular structures of trans- and cis(Cl,N(amino))-[RuCl(TPA)(Me2SO)]+ complexes and the trans(Cl,N(amino))-[RuCl{5-(MeOCO)3-TPA}(Me2SO)]+ complex have been determined by X-ray structural analyses. The reaction of TPA with [RuCl2(PhCN)4] gave a single isomer of the chloro(benzonitrile)ruthenium(II) complex, whereas the bis(benzonitrile)ruthenium(II) complex was obtained with BPG. The cis(Cl,N(amino))-[RuCl(TPA)(Me2SO)]+ complex is thermodynamically much less stable than the trans isomer and isomerizes in dimethyl sulfoxide at 65-100 degrees C. Oxygenation of alkanes catalyzed by these ruthenium(II) complexes has been examined. The chloro(dimethyl sulfoxide-kappaS)ruthenium(II) complexes with TPA and its derivatives using m-chloroperbenzoic acid as a cooxidant showed high catalytic ability. Adamantane was efficiently and selectively oxidized to give 1-adamantanol up to 88%. The chloro(dimethyl sulfoxide-kappaS)ruthenium(II) complex with 5-(MeOCO)3-TPA was found to be the most active catalyst among the complexes examined.  相似文献

An interesting series of binuclear ruthenium(III) Schiff base complexes bearing bis-salophen/bis-naphophen units of the general composition [(EPh(3))(X)Ru-L-Ru(X)(EPh(3))] (where E=P or As; X=Cl or Br; L=binucleating dianionic tetradentate ligands) have been synthesized and characterized by analytical (elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements), spectral (FT-IR, UV-vis and EPR) and electrochemical methods. These ruthenium(III) complexes have two N(2)O(2) metal binding sites, which are linked to each other with a biphenyl bridge and acts as potential catalyst for oxidation of wide range of primary and secondary alcohols to corresponding aldehydes or ketones with moderate to high conversion in the presence of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMO). The formation of high-valent Ru(V)=O species as a catalytic active intermediate is proposed for the catalytic processes.  相似文献

Water-soluble piano-stool arene ruthenium complexes based on 1-(4-cyanophenyl)imidazole (CPI) and 4-cyanopyridine (CNPy) with the formulas [(eta6-arene)RuCl2(L)] (L = CPI, eta6-arene = benzene (1), p-cymene (2), hexamethylbenzene (3); L = CNPy, eta6-arene = benzene (4), p-cymene (5), hexamethylbenzene (6)) have been prepared by our earlier methods. The molecular structure of [(eta6-C6Me6)RuCl2(CNPy)] (6) has been determined crystallographically. Analogous rhodium(III) complex [(eta5-C5Me5)RhCl2(CPI)] (7) has also been prepared and characterized. DNA interaction with the arene ruthenium complexes and the rhodium complex has been examined by spectroscopic and gel mobility shift assay; condensation of DNA and B-->Z transition have also been described. Arene ruthenium(II) and EPh3 (E = P, As)-containing arene ruthenium(II) complexes exhibited strong binding behavior, however, rhodium(III) complexes were found to be Topo II inhibitors with an inhibition percentage of 70% (7) and 30% (7a). Furthermore, arene ruthenium complexes containing polypyridyl ligands also act as mild Topo II inhibitors (10%, 3c and 40%, 3d) in contrast to their precursor complexes. Complexes 4-6 also show significant inhibition of beta-hematin/hemozoin formation activity.  相似文献

A new family of mono- and dinuclear ruthenium polypyridyl complexes containing 5-aryltetrazolate ligands such as the deprotonated form of 4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)benzonitrile (4-TBNH) and bis(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)benzene (BTBH(2)) have been synthesized and thoroughly characterized. The reactivity of the mononuclear species toward different electrophiles such as H(+) and CH(3)(+) has been investigated, and the effects of the resulting regioselective electrophilic attacks on the electronic and structural properties of the tetrazolate ligand have been studied by NMR ((1)H, (13)C) spectroscopy and X-ray crystal structures. Absorption and emission spectroscopy, together with an electrochemical and UV-vis-NIR spectroelectrochemical investigation of the uncoordinated ligand and complexes, has been performed, highlighting a rather good luminescence efficiency and a poor bridge-mediated electronic communication between the metal centers of the dinuclear complexes. The electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) of the dinuclear species has been explored, and for one of these, an exceptionally high ECL efficiency has been observed, comparable to that of [Ru(bpy)(3)](2+), which is considered a standard in ECL studies.  相似文献

Novel palladium(II) complexes with bis(pyrazol-1-yl)methane ligands at the focal point of G0-G3 poly(aryl ether) Fréchet-type dendrons are reported. The molecular structures of the metallodendrimer series G0, G1, and G2 [(dend)CH(3,5-Me2pz)2(PdCl2)] have been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The three structures show a similar three-dimensional organization of the metal complex, which is progressively engulfed by the branches with increasing dendrimer generation.  相似文献

The reaction between acrylonitrile and the RuH bond in HRu(CO)Cl(PPh3)3 results in the formation of a binuclear ruthenium(II) complex having chlorine bridges which are easily broken by sodio-derivatives of bidentate chelating ligands giving mononuclear hexacoordinated ruthenium(II) compounds. The RuC bond in these new complexes has been found to be stable towards nucleophilic reagents. The stereochemistry for these complexes has been suggested on the basis of IR, 1H and 31P NMR spectra.  相似文献

Bis(2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde)oxaloyldihydrazone(naohH4) interacts with manganese(II) acetate in methanol followed by addition of KOH giving [MnIV(naoh)(H2O)2]. Activated ruthenium(III) chloride reacts with naohH4 in methanol yielding [RuIII(naohH4)Cl(H2O)Cl2]. The replacement of aquo by heterocyclic nitrogen donor in these complexes has been observed when the reaction is carried out in presence of heterocyclic nitrogen donors such as pyridine(py), 3-picoline(3-pic) or 4-picoline(4-pic). The molar conductance values in DMF for these complexes suggest non-electrolytic nature. Magnetic moment values suggest +4 oxidation state for manganese in its complexes, however, ruthenium(III) complexes are paramagnetic with one unpaired electron. Electronic spectral studies suggest six coordinate metal ions. IR spectra reveal that naohH4 coordinates in enol-form and keto-form to manganese and ruthenium, respectively. ESR and cyclic voltammetric studies of the complexes have also been reported.  相似文献

A photoactivated ruthenium(II) arene complex has been conjugated to two receptor-binding peptides, a dicarba analogue of octreotide and the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) tripeptide. These peptides can act as "tumor-targeting devices" since their receptors are overexpressed on the membranes of tumor cells. Both ruthenium-peptide conjugates are stable in aqueous solution in the dark, but upon irradiation with visible light, the pyridyl-derivatized peptides were selectively photodissociated from the ruthenium complex, as inferred by UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy. Importantly, the reactive aqua species generated from the conjugates, [(η(6)-p-cym)Ru(bpm)(H(2)O)](2+), reacted with the model DNA nucleobase 9-ethylguanine as well as with guanines of two DNA sequences, (5')dCATGGCT and (5')dAGCCATG. Interestingly, when irradiation was performed in the presence of the oligonucleotides, a new ruthenium adduct involving both guanines was formed as a consequence of the photodriven loss of p-cymene from the two monofunctional adducts. The release of the arene ligand and the formation of a ruthenated product with a multidentate binding mode might have important implications for the biological activity of such photoactivated ruthenium(II) arene complexes. Finally, photoreactions with the peptide-oligonucleotide hybrid, Phac-His-Gly-Met-linker-p(5')dCATGGCT, also led to arene release and to guanine adducts, including a GG chelate. The lack of interaction with the peptide fragment confirms the preference of such organometallic ruthenium(II) complexes for guanine over other potential biological ligands, such as histidine or methionine amino acids.  相似文献

The oxidation kinetics of 2‐butanol by alkaline hexacyanoferrate(III) catalyzed by sodium ruthenate has been studied spectrophotometrically. The initial rates method was used for kinetic analysis. The reaction rate shows a fractional‐order in [hexacyanoferrate(III)] and [substrate] and a first‐order dependence on [Ru(VI)]. The dependence on [OH] is rather more complicated. The kinetic data suggest a reaction mechanism involving two active catalytic species. Each one of these species forms an intermediate complex with the substrate. The attack of these complexes by hexacyanoferrate(III), in a slow step, produces ruthenium(V) complexes which are oxidized in subsequent steps to regenerate the catalyst species. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Chiral terpyridine ligands have been synthesized and characterized. By applying Ru(III)/Ru(II) chemistry, symmetrical as well as asymmetrical bis-terpyridine ruthenium(II) complexes were obtained. These materials were fully characterized and their optical properties investigated. While the chiral metal complexes revealed no Cotton effect in good solvents such as chloroform, CD-measurements in dodecane showed an effect in both ligand and MLCT regions, suggesting chirality transfer from the lateral alkyl chains to the complex core. This behavior points to the formation of supramolecular aggregates in dodecane. Furthermore, the analogous achiral ligand and its corresponding ruthenium(II) complexes were prepared.  相似文献

A highly efficient domino reaction starting from tetrahydroquinolinone and a series of bisiminium salts provides the corresponding bis(U-terpyridines). These ligands have been treated with [(tpy)RuCl3] to afford novel dinuclear complexes [(tpy)Ru(L)Ru(tpy)]4+. The protocol is also applied for the synthesis of a star-shaped tris(U-terpyridine) and the trinuclear complex [{(tpy)Ru}3(L)]6+. In view of potential applications in the fields of metallopolymers and molecular devices, the electronic spectra, as well as the electrochemical potentials of all the complexes have been obtained. According to these data, no significant intermetal interaction has been observed for the ruthenium complexes presented here.  相似文献

In search of potential anticancer drug candidates in ruthenium complexes, a series of mononuclear ruthenium complexes of the type [Ru(phen)(2)(nmit)]Cl(2) (Ru1), [Ru(bpy)(2)(nmit)]Cl(2) (Ru2), [Ru(phen)(2)(icpl)]Cl(2) (Ru3), Ru(bpy)(2)(icpl)]Cl(2) (Ru4) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline; bpy=2,2'-bipyridine; nmit=N-methyl-isatin-3-thiosemicarbazone, icpl=isatin-3-(4-Cl-phenyl)thiosemicarbazone) and [Ru(phen)(2)(aze)]Cl(2) (Ru5), [Ru(bpy)(2)(aze)]Cl(2) (Ru6) (aze=acetazolamide) and [Ru(phen)(2)(R-tsc)](ClO(4))(2) (R=methyl (Ru7), ethyl (Ru8), cyclohexyl (Ru9), 4-Cl-phenyl (10), 4-Br-phenyl (Ru11), and 4-EtO-phenyl (Ru12), tsc=thiosemicarbazone) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, (1)H-NMR and FAB-MS. Effect of these complexes on the growth of a transplantable murine tumor cell line (Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma) and their antibacterial activity were studied. In cancer study the effect of hematological profile of the tumor hosts have also been studied. In the cancer study, the complexes Ru1-Ru4, Ru10 and Ru11 have remarkably decreased the tumor volume and viable ascitic cell count as indicated by trypan blue dye exclusion test (p<0.05). Treatment with the ruthenium complexes prolonged the lifespan of Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) bearing mice. Tumor inhibition by the ruthenium chelates was followed by improvements in hemoglobin, RBC and WBC values. All the complexes showed antibacterial activity, except Ru5 and Ru6. Thus, the results suggest that these ruthenium complexes have significant antitumor property and antibacterial activity. The results also reflect that the drug does not adversely affect the hematological profiles as compared to that of cisplatin on the host.  相似文献
