Several new symmetrical aromatic hydrocarbon bridged bipyridine ligands and their binuclear Ru (II) complexes have been designed, synthesized and characterized on the basis of 1H NMR, MS and HRMS. Their absorption and emission properties, electrochemical behaviors and electrochemical luminescence were investigated. All ruthenium complexes show characteristic MLCT absorption and similar redox potential. Among the three complexes reported, 4c has the best electrochemical luminescence property.  相似文献

A novel ruthenium(II) tris(bipyridine)-zinc porphyrin-rhenium carbonyl triads and its free base porphyrin derivative were synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, UV-vis, mass-spectrometry and elemental analysis. The redox potentials of the two compounds were measured and compared to their corresponding reference complexes. The fluorescence and transient absorption spectra of the two complexes revealed the features of two different pathways for possible photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer or energy transfer in the triads.  相似文献

The focus of this report is the synthesis and properties of two new analogues of ruthenium(ii) tris-bipyridine, a monomer and dimer. The complexes contain the ligand 6,6'-(ethan-1,2-diyl)bis-2,2'-bipyridine (O-bpy) which contains two bipyridine units bridged in the 6,6' positions by an ethylene bridge. Crystal structures of the two complexes formulated as [Ru(bpy)(O-bpy)](PF6)2 and [(Ru(bpy)2)2(O-bpy)](PF6)4 reveal structures of lower symmetry than D3 which affects the electronic properties of the complexes as substantiated by density functional theory (DFT) and time dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations. The HOMO lies largely on the ruthenium center; the LUMO spreads its electron density over the bipyridine units, but not equally in the mixed O-bpy-bpy complexes. Calculated Vis/UV spectra using TDDFT methods agree with experimental spectra. The lowest lying triplet excited state for [Ru(bpy)(O-bpy)](PF6)2 is 3MC resulting in a low emission quantum yield and a large chloride ion photosubstitution quantum yield.  相似文献

Tris(bipyridine)ruthenium(II) is used as a templating agent to insert palladium(II) into three-dimensional oxalate-based networks. The templated-assembly of [Ru(bpy)(3)][Pd(2)(ox)(3)] (Pd(2)) and [Ru(bpy)(3)][PdMn(ox)(3)] (PdMn) is described. The latter compound is structurally characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. These techniques reveal an unusual 6-fold oxygen environment around the Pd(II) atoms with two short (2.02 Angstrom) and four long (2.17 Angstrom) Pd-O distances. As stated by magnetometry, this environment is associated with a triplet ground state (S = 1) of the palladium(II) ion: when the temperature is decreased, the chiMT product shows a monotonous decrease from 5.54 cm(3) K mol(-1) at 300 K, a value which is slightly lower than the one expected for independent paramagnetic Pd(II) (S = 1, g = 2) and Mn(II) (S = 5/2, g = 2) ions. This thermal variation is due to antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the two spin bearers. Nevertheless, no long-range magnetic order is detected down to 2 K. These results are confirmed by an analysis of the [MII(C(2)O(4))(3)](4-) (M = Ni, Pd, Pt) complex and of a [Pd(II){mu-(C(2)O(4))Mn(II)(OH(2))(4)}(3)](2+) tetranuclear model using density functional theory.  相似文献

Several [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine and its derivatives) complexes were synthesized and compared electrochemically and spectroscopically in the search for better luminophores for electrochemiluminescence (ECL)-based analytical applications. ECL measurement in [Ru(bpy)3]2+/tripropylamine (TPA) aqueous buffer solutions has led to a conclusion that due to the complexity of the ECL generation process, the photoluminescence efficiency cannot be used to predict ECL intensity and there is no obvious relationship between the photoluminescence quantum yield and the ECL intensity. Under the present experimental condition, when compared with the pristine [Ru(bpy)3]2+, the ethoxycarbonyl-substituted derivative, [Ru(bpy-COOEt)3]2+, one of the most efficient luminophores under photoexcitation, did not generate reasonably intense ECL, whereas luminophores with lower photoluminescence quantum yields demonstrated higher ECL. These findings are useful for further efforts in the search for more efficient ECL luminophores.

A new molecular dyad, comprised of a zinc-porphyrin and a ruthenium(II) tris(bipyridine) complex linked through an amide bond has been synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, UV-vis, mass-spectrometry and elemental analysis. The electrochemistry as well as the steady-state emission properties were investigated. The redox behavior of the dyad exhibits a favorable reversible characteristic. Substantial quenching of porphyrin emission was found when the Q band of 5 and 5-Zn was selectively photoexcited. This observation suggests a quenching mechanism with possible intramolecular electron transfer or energy transfer between the Ru(bpy)3 moiety and the porphyrin free-base or Zn porphyrin moieties.  相似文献

[Ru(bpy)(2)(Mebpy-COOH)](PF(6))(2).3H(2)O (1), [Ru(phen)(2)(Mebpy-COOH)](ClO(4))(2).5H(2)O (2), [Ru(dppz)(2)(Mebpy-COOH)]Cl(2).9H(2)O (3), and [Ru(bpy)(dppz)(Mebpy-COOH)](PF(6))(2).5H(2)O (4) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, Mebpy-COOH = 4'-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine-4-carboxylic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, dppz = dipyrido[3,2,-a;2',3-c]phenazine) have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and by microanalysis. The [Ru(Mebpy-COOH)(CO)(2)Cl(2)].H(2)O intermediate was prepared by reaction of the monocarboxylic acid ligand, Mebpy-COOH, with [Ru(CO)(2)Cl(2)](n), and the product was then reacted with either bpy, phen, or dppz in the presence of an excess of trimethylamine-N-oxide (Me(3)NO), as the decarbonylation agent, to generate 1, 2, and 3, respectively. For compound 4, [Ru(bpy)(CO)Cl(2)](2) was reacted with Mebpy-COOH to yield [Ru(bpy)(Mebpy-COOH)(CO)Cl](PF(6)).H(2)O as a mixture of two main geometric isomers. Chemical decarbonylation in the presence of dppz gave 4 also as a mixture of two isomers. Electrochemical and spectrophotometric studies indicated that complexes 1 and 2 were present as a mixture of protonated and deprotonated forms in acetonitrile solution because of water of solvation in the isolated solid products. The X-ray crystal structure determination on crystals of [Ru(bpy)2(MebpyCOO)][Ru(bpy)(2)(MebpyCOOH)](3)(PF(6))(7), 1a, and [Ru(phen)(2)(MebpyCOO)](ClO(4)).6H(2)O, 2a, obtained from solutions of 1 and 2, respectively, revealed that 1a consisted of a mixture of protonated and deprotonated forms of the complex in a 1:3 ratio and that 2a consisted of the deprotonated derivative of 2. A distorted octahedral geometry for the Ru(II) centers was found for both complexes. Upon excitation at 450 nm, MeCN solutions of the protonated complexes 1-4 were found to exhibit emission bands in the 635-655 nm range, whereas the corresponding emission maxima of their deprotonated forms were observed at lower wavelengths. Protonation/deprotonation effects were also observed in the luminescence and electrochemical behavior of complexes 1-4. Comprehensive electrochemical studies in acetonitrile show that the ruthenium centers on 1, 2, 3, and 4 are oxidized from Ru(II) to Ru(III) with reversible potentials at 917, 929, 1052, and 1005 mV vs Fc(0/+) (Fc = ferrocene), respectively. Complexes 1 and 2 also exhibit an irreversible oxidation process in acetonitrile, and all compounds undergo ligand-based reduction processes.  相似文献

A series of linear polynuclear ruthenium(II) tris(2,2′-bipyridine) complexes has been synthesized whereby individual chromophores are separated by 1,4-diethynylenebenzene subunits bearing alkoxy groups for improved solubility. These arrays contain two, three, four or five metal centers. The compounds are reasonably soluble in polar organic solvents and they possess optical absorption spectral properties that are dominated by transitions associated with the polytopic ligand. Weak luminescence is observed for each complex in deoxy genated acetonitrile at room temperature that appears to be characteristic of emission from a metal-to-ligand charge-transfer triplet state. The emission lifetime is essentially independent of temperature, at least over a modest range. There is no indication for interaction between close-lying triplet states and no obvious sign of a low-energy τ, τ* triplet associated with the polytopic ligand. The photophysical properties suggest that the longer arrays are segmented.  相似文献

Photochromic nitrospiropyrans substituted with 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), [Ru(bpy)3]2+, and [Os(bpy)3]2+ groups were synthesized, and their photophysical, photochemical, and redox properties investigated. Substitution of the spiropyran with the metal complex moiety results in strongly decreased efficiency of the ring-opening process as a result of energy transfer from the excited spiropyran to the metal center. The lowest excited triplet state of the spiropyran in its open merocyanine form is lower in energy than the excited triplet MLCT level of the [Ru(bpy)3]2+ moiety but higher in energy than for [Os(bpy)3]2+, resulting in energy transfer from the excited ruthenium center to the spiropyran but inversely in the osmium case. The open merocyanine form reduces and oxidizes electrochemically more easily than the closed nitrospiropyran. Like photoexcitation, electrochemical activation also causes opening of the spiropyran ring by first reducing the closed form and subsequently reoxidizing the corresponding radical anion in two well-resolved anodic steps. Interestingly, the substitution of the spiropyran with a Ru or Os metal center does not affect the efficiency of this electrochemically induced ring-opening process, different from the photochemical path.  相似文献

We synthesized a thiosemicarbazone-functionalized flavin (Fl-(H)TSC: 2-[2-(3,4-dihydro-7,8-dimethyl-2,4-dioxobenzo[g]pteridin-10(2H)-yl)ethylidene]-hydrazinecarbothioamide) and its Pt(II) complex [Pt(Fl-TSC)(2)], and characterized it using X-ray diffraction, UV-visible absorption and luminescence spectroscopy. X-ray structural analysis for [Pt(Fl-TSC)(2)] revealed that the structure of the isoalloxazine part was almost the same as that in lumiflavin (7,8,10-trimethylisoalloxazine), and the thiosemicarbazone moiety acted as a bidentate ligand to form a PtS(2)N(2) planar conformation. UV-visible absorption and luminescence spectra of these compounds were very similar to those of riboflavin, but the emission intensity and the lifetime decreased considerably. Theoretical calculations suggested that the charge-separated state (Fl˙(-)-TSC˙(+)) contributed to the faster quenching from the (1)π-π* emission state.  相似文献

An extensive series of conjugated (porphinato)zinc(II)-based chromophores featuring nitrothiophenyl and nitrooligothiophenyl electron-accepting moieties has been synthesized using metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions involving [5-bromo-15-triisopropylsilylethynyl-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II) and an unusual electron-rich Suzuki-porphyrin synthon, [5-(4-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)-15-(4',4',5',5'-tetramethyl[1',3',2']dioxaborolan-2'-yl)-10,20-diarylporphinato]zinc(II), with appropriately functionalized aryl and thienyl precursors. These donor-acceptor chromophores feature thiophenyl, [2,2']bithiophenyl, and [2,2';5',2' ']terthiophenyl units terminated with a 5-nitro group; one series of structures features these acceptor moieties appended directly to the porphyrin macrocycle meso-carbon position, while a second set utilizes an intervening meso-ethynyl moiety to modify porphyrin-to-thiophene conjugation. The dynamic hyperpolarizability of these compounds was determined from hyper-Rayleigh light scattering (HRS) measurements carried out at fundamental incident irradiation wavelengths (lambda(inc)) of 800 and 1300 nm; interestingly, measured beta(1300) values ranged from 650 --> 4350 x 10(-30) esu. The combined linear and nonlinear optical properties of these compounds challenge the classical concept of the nonlinearity/transparency tradeoff in charge-transfer chromophores: the magnitude of the molecular hyperpolarizability is observed to vary substantially despite approximately uniform ground-state absorptive signatures for a given porphyrin-to-thiophene linkage topology. These data show that these neutral dipolar molecules can express substantial beta(1300) values; such conjugated, electronically asymmetric porphyrin-thiophene chromophores may thus find utility for electrooptic applications at telecom-relevant wavelengths.  相似文献

Three new ruthenium(II) complexes containing the tris(1-pyrazolyl)methane (tpm) ligand have been prepared: [Ru(tpm)(L)(dppn)]n+ (where n = 1; L = Cl (5), n = 2; L = MeCN (6) and pyridine (7); dppn = benzo[i]dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine). Complex 6 was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Binding parameters of these complexes with calf thymus DNA are reported and compared to those obtained for a previously reported monocation, [RuCl(tpm)(dppz)]+. Binding studies with the dications and the synthetic oligonucleotides poly(dA).poly(dT) and poly(dG).poly(dC) have also been determined. Photophysical and electrochemical properties of 5-7 have been investigated and compared with their dipyridophenazine (dppz) analogues.  相似文献

The novel phenomenon of cathodic electrochemiluminescence on a gold electrode in tris(bipyridine) ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)) solution is described for the first time. A cathodic electrochemiluminescence (ECL) was found to mainly occur at 0.4-0.8 V with continuous potential scanning from 0.2-1.4 V and the ECL peak was observed around 0.68 V, which was quite different from generally reported Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) ECL. Our group speculated that Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) possibly reacts with the gold electrode in the acidic phosphate buffer solution (PBS) to generate luminescence. The possible ECL mechanism was discussed according to the presented results. Moreover, it is revealed that the Au as co-reactant in the Ru-system contributed dominantly to the whole ECL. Therefore, the reaction between Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) and the newly formed Au implied that the inert metal Au could become a promising material for ECL investigations.  相似文献

The Pd(II) complexes of 1-aryl-5-benzazolyl- and 1,5-dibenzimidazolylformazans are synthesized and characterized by UV and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and magnetochemical studies. The complexes exhibit the intense absorption in the near-IR spectral region (820–1020 nm). The interaction of the complexes with amines leads to the transformation into binuclear palladium formazanates, which absorb at 620–680 nm and whose structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of closely-coupled, binuclear complexes formed by connecting two ruthenium(II) tris(2,2'-bipyridine) complexes via an alkynylene group differ significantly from those of the relevant mononuclear complex. In particular, the energy of the first triplet excited state is lowered relative to the parent complex, because of the presence of the alkynylene substituent, while the triplet lifetime is prolonged, in part, because of extended electron delocalization. We now report that the triplet lifetime is also affected by the nature of the spectator 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands. Thus, replacing the parent 2,2'-bipyridine ligands with the corresponding 4,4'-dinitro-substituted ligands serves to decrease the luminescence yield and lifetime. With the corresponding carboxylate ester, the luminescence yield and lifetime are increased. Perdeuteration of the parent 2,2'-bipyridine ligands also leads to a modest increase in the luminescence yield. Such observations are indicative of electronic coupling between the various metal-to-ligand, charge-transfer excited triplet states. Temperature dependence studies confirm that these excited states are closely spaced and thermally accessible at ambient temperature. For some of the binuclear complexes, the quantum yield for formation of the lowest-energy triplet state is significantly less than unity.  相似文献

Two polypodands, tetrakis[2-(4,5-diazafluoren-9-ylimino)phenoxymethyl]methane (L1) and 1,1,1-tris[2-(4,5-diazafluoren-9-ylimino)phenoxymethyl]propane (L2), and their corresponding Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes have been synthesized and characterized. The photophysical behaviors of the two complexes were investigated by UV–vis absorption and emission spectroscopy. They display metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) absorptions at around 443 nm in MeCN solution at room temperature and emission at around 573 nm in EtOH:MeOH (4:1) glassy matrix at 77 K. Electrochemical studies of the two complexes show one Ru(II)-centered oxidation at around 1.35 V and three ligand-centered reductions.  相似文献

Herein we report for the first time the complete characterization and photophysical properties of tris(dibenzoylmethanido)(1,10-phenanthroline)samarium(III) (Sm(DBM)3phen) in the absence of a polymer matrix. The solid state structure of Sm(DBM)3phen has been determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography and shows the geometry of the local coordination environment around the samarium(III) ion to be a slightly distorted square antiprism. The absolute quantum yield and luminescence lifetime were measured as 0.86 ± 0.40% and 41 ± 2 μs, respectively.  相似文献

Quadratic nonlinear optical properties for the crystalline powders of two types of ruthenium-bipyridine [Ru(bipy)3] complexes were investigated. The nonlinear optical processes markedly depended on the molecular structures of the ruthenium complexes. Second harmonic generation (SHG) and very weak two-photon emission were observed for the alkylated ruthenium-bipyridine compexes with two long alkyl chains attached via amide bonds (RuCnB), whereas only two-photon emission was observed for Ru(bipy)3. The existence of two amide bonds in one bipyridine ligand for RuCnB complexes most probably enhanced the molecular hyperpolarizability as compared with Ru(bipy)3. The SHG intensity from RuCnB complexes increased in the order RuC18B < RuC12B < RuC16B. The order of SHG intensity from RuCnB was ascribed to the difference in size of each crystalline powder estimated by X-ray diffraction methods.  相似文献

A novel copper(II) thiocyanate complex [Cu(im)2(NCS)2] 1 (im=imidazole) has been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic analysis and crystallographic method. This supramolecular compound exhibits a three-dimensional solid state structure constituted by N–HS hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions. The compound in DMF solutions has a very strong third-order non-linear optical (NLO) behavior with absorption coefficient and refractive index 2=1.18×10−11 mw−1, n2=−9.00×10−16 m2w−1, respectively, and third-order NLO susceptibility χ(3) of 7.00×10−10 esu.  相似文献
