Present study reports the detailed structural and magnetic, as well as chemical analysis of polycrystalline Zn1−xMnxO (where x=0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.1) samples synthesized by the high-temperature solid state reaction route. X-ray diffraction studies reveal the presence of secondary phase for higher Mn-doping concentrations (x≥0.03). Secondary phase formation having spinel structure is confirmed and reported as an evidence for the first time using transmission electron microscopy study. Chemical investigations using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed the presence of Mn in two valence states. From the observed results we are of the opinion that Zn2+ ions, mainly present at or near grain boundaries, diffuse into manganese oxide to form a stable spinel phase ZnxMn3−xO4 at or near the grain boundaries of ZnO/Zn1−xMnxO. Magnetization measurements did not show any magnetic transition down to 5 K.  相似文献

CdIn2O4 thin films were prepared by direct-current (DC) reactive magnetron sputtering. The structure, surface morphology and the chemical composition of the thin films were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscope (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. The electrical properties of the films prepared in different oxygen concentration and annealing treatment were determined, and the effects of the preparing conditions on the structure and electrical properties were also explored. It indicates that the CdIn2O4 thin films with uniform and dense surface morphology contain mainly CdIn2O4, In2O3 phases, and CdO phase is also observed. The XPS analysis confirms the films are in oxygen-deficient state. The electrical properties of these films significantly depend on the preparing conditions, the resistivity of the films with the oxygen concentration of 4.29% is 2.95 × 10−4 Ω cm and the Hall mobility is as high as 60.32 cm2/V s. Annealing treatment can improve the electrical performance of the films.  相似文献

We report structural, magnetic and electronic structure study of Mn doped TiO2 thin films grown using pulsed laser deposition method. The films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), dc magnetization, X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy measurements. XRD results indicate that films exhibit single phase nature with rutile structure and exclude the secondary phase related to Mn metal cluster or any oxide phase of Mn. Magnetization studies reveal that both the films (3% and 5% Mn doped TiO2) exhibit room temperature ferromagnetism and saturation magnetization increases with increase in concentration of Mn doping. The spectral features of XMCD at Mn L3,2 edge show that Mn2+ ions contribute to the ferromagnetism. NEXAFS spectra measured at O K edge show a strong hybridization between Mn, Ti 3d and O 2p orbitals. NEXAFS spectra measured at Mn and Ti L3,2 edge show that Mn exist in +2 valence state, whereas, Ti is in +4 state in Mn doped TiO2 films.  相似文献

Pristine spinel LiMn2O4 and LiAlxMn2−xO4 (x=Al: 0.00-0.40) with sub-micron sized particles have been synthesized using fumaric acid as chelating agent by sol-gel method. The synthesized samples were subjected to thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic cycling studies. The TGA curve of the gel shows several weight-loss regions stepwise amounting to 55% till 800 °C attributed to the decomposition of the precursors. Calcination to higher temperatures (800 °C) yields pure-phase spinel (LiAlxMn2−xO4), as it is evident from the high-intensity XRD reflections matching to the standard pattern. SEM and TEM studies confirm that the synthesized grains are of uniform regular surface morphology. FT-IR studies show stretching and bending vibration bands of Li-O, Li-Al-Mn-O. LiAl0.1Mn1.90O4 spinel was found to deliver discharge capacity of 139 mA h/g during the first cycle with columbic efficiency of 97%. LiAl0.1Mn1.90O4 spinel exhibits the high cathodic peak current indicating better electrochemical performance. Low doping (x=0.1) of Al is found to be beneficial in stabilizing the spinel structure.  相似文献

Sn1−xMnxO2 (x=0.01-0.05) thin films were synthesized on quartz substrate using an inexpensive ultrasonic spray pyrolysis technique. The influence of doping concentration and substrate temperature on structural and magnetic properties of Sn1−xMnxO2 thin films was systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies of these films reflect that the Mn3+ ions have substituted Sn4+ ions without changing the tetragonal rutile structure of pure SnO2. A linear increase in c-axis lattice constant has been observed with corresponding increase in Mn concentration. No impurity phase was detected in XRD patterns even after doping 5 at% of Mn. A systematic change in magnetic behavior from ferromagnetic to paramagnetic was observed with increase in substrate temperature from 500 to 700 °C for Sn1−xMnxO2 (x=0.01) films. Magnetic studies reveal room-temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM) with 3.61×10−4 emu saturation magnetization and 92 Oe coercivity in case of Sn1−xMnxO2 (x=0.01) films deposited at 500 °C. However, paramagnetic behavior was observed for the films deposited at a higher substrate temperature of 700 °C. The presence of room-temperature ferromagnetism in these films was observed to have an intrinsic origin and could be obtained by controlling the substrate temperature and Mn doping concentration.  相似文献

Uniform and transparent thin films of Zn1−xMnxO (0?x?0.10) were fabricated by a sol-gel spin coating method. XRD results indicated the hexagonal structure of ZnO as the primary phase at all concentrations (x) of Mn. However, at x?0.035, Mn3O4 (tetragonal) is observed as the secondary phase, which was confirmed by selected-area electron diffraction patterns. SEM and TEM results showed a tendency of grains to arrange into wire-shaped morphologies, leading to elongated needle-like structures at high Mn addition. Increasing Mn content in the range 0?x?0.10 led to quenching of photoluminescence, increase in the band gap (Eg) from 3.27 to 3.33 eV, and increase in film thickness, refractive index and extinction coefficient of Zn1−xMnxO thin films. The residual stress evaluated was compressive in all cases and found to increase by an order of magnitude with addition of Mn. Furthermore, an overall increase in microhardness and yield strength of Zn1−xMnxO thin films at higher Mn concentrations is attributed to change in microstructures, presence of secondary phase and increase in film thickness.  相似文献

We have grown InN films on nearly lattice-matched (Mn,Zn)Fe2O4 (111) substrates at low temperatures by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and investigated their structural properties. InN films grown at substrate temperatures above 400 °C show poor crystallinity, and their in-plane epitaxial relationship is [10-10]InN//[11-2](Mn,Zn)Fe2O4, which means that their lattice mismatch is quite large (11%). By contrast, high quality InN films with flat surfaces can be grown at growth temperatures lower than 150 °C with the ideal in-plane epitaxial relationship of [11-20]InN//[11-2](Mn,Zn)Fe2O4, which produces lattice mismatches of as low as 2.0%. X-ray reflectivity measurements have revealed that the thickness of the interfacial layer between the InN and the substrates is reduced from 14 to 8.4 nm when the growth temperature is decreased from 400 °C to room temperature. This suppression of the interface reactions by reducing the growth temperature is probably responsible for the improvement in crystalline quality. These results indicate that the use of (Mn,Zn)Fe2O4 (111) substrates at low growth temperatures allows us to achieve nearly lattice matched epitaxial growth of InN.  相似文献

Epitaxial thin films of CaRu1−xMxO3 (M=Ti, Mn) were fabricated on a (0 0 1)-SrTiO3 substrate by spin-coat method using organometallic solutions (metal alkoxides). Results of X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy indicate that the epitaxial films were grown pseudomorphically so as to align the [0 0 l] axis of the CaRu1−xMxO3 films perpendicular to the (0 0 1) plane of the SrTiO3 substrate. Ferromagnetism and metal-insulator transition are induced by the substitution of transition metal ions. The occurrence of ferromagnetism was explained qualitatively assuming a TiRu6 cluster model for CaRu1−xTixO3 film and a mixed valence model for CaRu1−xMnxO3 film. Ferromagnetism was also observed for layered CaRuO3/CaMnO3 film and CaRuO3/CaMnO3/CaRuO3/CaMnO3 multilayer film and the magnetism was explained by an interfacial exchange interaction model with magnetic Mn3+, Mn4+, and Ru5+ ions.  相似文献

Y2O3 thin films were grown on silicon (1 0 0) substrates by pulsed-laser deposition at different substrate temperatures and O2 pressures. The structure and composition of films are studied by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The Y2O3 thin films deposited in vacuum strongly oriented their [1 1 1] axis of the cubic structure and the film quality depended on the substrate temperature. The magnitude of O2 pressure obviously influences the film structure and quality. Due to the silicon diffusion and interface reaction during the deposition, yttrium silicate and SiO2 were formed. The strong relationship between composition and growth condition was discussed.  相似文献

We synthesized the Mn-doped Mg(In2−xMnx)O4 oxides with 0.03?x?0.55 using a solid-state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples were in a good agreement with that of a distorted orthorhombic spinel phase. Their lattice parameters and unit-cell volumes decrease with x due to the substitution of the smaller Mn3+ ions to the larger In3+ ions. The undoped MgIn2O4 oxide presents diamagnetic signals for 5 K?T?300 K. The M(H) at T=300 K reveals a fairly negative-sloped linear relationship. Neither magnetic hysteresis nor saturation behavior was observed in this parent sample. For the Mn-doped samples, however, positive magnetization were observed between 5 and 300 K even if the x value is as low as 0.03. The mass susceptibility enhances with Mn content and it reaches the highest value of 1.4×10−3 emu/g Oe (at T=300 K) at x=0.45. Furthermore, the Mn-doped oxides with x=0.06 and 0.2, respectively, exhibit nonlinear magnetization curves and small hysteretic loops in low magnetic fields. Susceptibilities of the Mn-doped samples are much higher than those of MnO2, Mn2O3 oxides, and Mn metals. These results show that the oxides have potential to be magnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

Li0.5Fe2.5−xMnxO4 (0≦x≦1.0) powders with small and uniformly sized particles were successfully synthesized by microwave-induced combustion, using lithium nitrate, ferric nitrate, manganese nitrate and carbohydrazide as the starting materials. The process takes only a few minutes to obtain as-received Mn-substituted lithium ferrite powders. The resultant powders annealed at 650 °C for 2 h and were investigated by thermogravimeter/differential thermal analyzer (TG/DTA), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and thermomagnetic analysis (TMA). The results revealed that the Mn content were strongly influenced the magnetic properties and Curie temperature of Mn-substituted lithium ferrite powder. As for sintered Li0.5Fe2.5−xMnxO4 specimens, substituting an appropriate amount of Mn for Fe in the Li0.5Fe2.5−xMnxO4 specimens markedly improved the complex permeability and loss tangent.  相似文献

Spin-selected polarized X-ray absorption near-edge structures (SSXANES) at the Mn K-edge from a bilayer La1.2Sr1.65Ca0.15Mn2O7 single crystal have been studied with high resolution, both in the ferromagnetic (15 K) as well as paramagnetic phase (300 K). The orientation-dependent SSXANES spectra show unmistakable temperature dependence as the system makes the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition. The pre-edge structures are too intense to be ascribed to weak quadrupole transitions and are interpreted in terms of hybridization of Mn 3d orbitals with O2p and Mn 4p orbitals over and above similar onsite hybridization. The results also indicate possible existence of a small local (time-frozen) ferromagnetic ordering in the macroscopically disordered state. Need for further experimental and theoretical work on the SSXANES spectra from the bilayer system is emphasized.  相似文献

Combining two methods, coating and doping, to modify spinel LiMn2O4, is a novel approach we used to synthesize active material. First we coated the LiMn2O4 particles with the nickel oxide particles by means of homogenous precipitation, and then the nickel oxide-coated LiMn2O4 was calcined at 750 °C to form a LiNixMn2−xO4 shell on the surface of spinel LiMn2O4 particles. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and charge-discharge test were performed to characterize the spinel LiMn2O4 before and after modification. The experimental results indicated that a spinel LiMn2O4 core is surrounded by a LiNixMn2−xO4 shell. The resulting composite showed excellent electrochemical cycling performance with an average fading rate of 0.014% per cycle. This improved cycle stability is greatly attributed to the suppression of Jahn-Teller distortion on the surface of spinel LiMn2O4 particles during cycling.  相似文献

We have grown lead iron niobate thin films with composition Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 (PFN) on (0 0 1) SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The influence of the deposition conditions on the phase purity was studied. Due to similar thermodynamic stability spaces, a pyrochlore phase often coexists with the PFN perovskite phase. By optimizing the kinetic parameters, we succeeded in identifying a deposition window which resulted in epitaxial perovskite-phase PFN thin films with no identifiable trace of impurity phases appearing in the X-ray diffractograms. PFN films having thicknesses between 20 and 200 nm were smooth and epitaxially oriented with the substrate and as demonstrated by RHEED streaks which were aligned with the substrate axes. X-ray diffraction showed that the films were completely c-axis oriented and of excellent crystalline quality with low mosaicity (X-ray rocking curve FWHM?0.09°). The surface roughness of thin films was also investigated by atomic force microscopy. The root-mean-square roughness varies between 0.9 nm for 50-nm-thick films to 16 nm for 100-nm-thick films. We also observe a correlation between grain size, surface roughness and film thickness.  相似文献

Mechanical stress in atomic-layer deposition (ALD)-Al2O3 films was investigated at room temperature and during thermal cycling up to 870 °C. The films were generally under tensile stress. Thicker films (25-60 nm) showed a sharp stress increase at about 780-790 °C. X-ray diffraction (XRD)-, X-ray reflectance (XRR)- and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)-measurements indicate an irreversible phase transition from amorphous AlO(OH) to a mixture of different crystalline Al2O3-phases. Annealing at higher temperatures leads to a stress reduction as a result of diffusion and recovery processes. The stress behaviour of thinner films (<20 nm) during thermal cycling is quite different. Tensile stress increases with increasing temperature and decreases to nearly the same value during cooling down. The process is continuous and reversible.  相似文献

NiAlxFe2−xO4 and Ni1−yMnyAl0.2Fe1.8O4 ferrites were prepared by the conventional ceramic method and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and magnetic measurements. The single spinel phase was confirmed for all prepared samples. A proper explanation of data is possible if the Al3+ ions are assumed to replace Fe3+ ions in the A and B sites simultaneously for NiAlxFe2−xO4 ferrites, and if the Mn2+ ions are assumed to replace Ni2+ ions in the B sites for Ni1−yMnyAl0.2Fe1.8O4 ferrites. Microstructural factors play an important role in the magnetic behavior of Ni1−yMnyAl0.2Fe1.8O4 ferrites with large Mn2+ content.  相似文献

Four kinds of Y2O3 stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) thin films with different Y2O3 content have been prepared on BK7 substrates by electron-beam evaporation method. Structural properties and surface morphology of thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra and scanning probe microscope. Laser induced damage threshold (LIDT) was determined. It was found that crystalline phase and microstructure of YSZ thin films was dependent on Y2O3 molar content. YSZ thin films changed from monoclinic phase to high temperature phase (tetragonal and cubic) with the increase of Y2O3 content. The LIDT of stabilized thin film is more than that of unstabilized thin films. The reason is that ZrO2 material undergoes phase transition during the course of e-beam evaporation resulting in more numbers of defects compared to that of YSZ thin films. These defects act as absorptive center and the original breakdown points.  相似文献

Polycrystalline Bi4Ti3O12 thin films were prepared on quartz substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The films were crystallized in the orthorhombic layer perovskite structure confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra are strongly dependent on temperature. A subtle phase transition in the temperature range 473-573 K exists in polycrystalline BTO thin films, which is evidenced by the disappearance of the Raman band at 116 cm−1 and appearance of a new Raman band at 151 cm−1. The two broad Raman bands centered at the 57 and 93 cm−1 at 300 K break up into clusters of several sharp Raman peaks at 77 K, due to monoclinic distortion of orthorhombic structure at low temperature in the as-prepared Bi4Ti3O12 thin films.  相似文献

The crystal structures and magnetic properties of Ti0.9747Mn0.0253O2 films prepared by sol–gel dip coating have been investigated. Room temperature ferromagnetism was observed both in the films of pure anatase phase and of mixed anatase and rutile phases. For the first time, enhancement of the ferromagnetism was revealed as the phase transition from anatase to rutile occurs: from 0.7±0.01μB/Mn to 1.1±0.05μB/Mn. The possible mechanism for the observed magnetism enhancement is discussed.  相似文献

Tin dioxide (SnO2) thin films were deposited by plasma enhanced-atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD) on Si(1 0 0) substrate using dibutyl tin diacetate (DBTA) ((CH3CO2)2Sn[(CH2)3-CH3]2) as precursor. The process parameters were optimized as a function of substrate temperature, source temperature and purging time. It is observed that the surface phenomenon of the thin films was changed with film thickness. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) images and X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern were used to observe the texture and crystallanity of the films. The films deposited for 100, 200 and 400 cycles were characterized by XPS to determine the chemical bonding properties. XPS results reveal that the surface dominant oxygen species for 100, 200 and 400 cycles deposited films are O2, O and O2−, respectively. The 200 cycles film has exhibited highest concentration of oxygen (O) species before and after annealing. Conductivity studies revel that this film has best adsorption strength to the oxygen ions forming on the surface. The sensor with 200 cycles SnO2 thin film has shown highest sensitivity to CO gas than other films. A correlation between the characteristics of Sn3d5/2 and O1s XPS spectra before and after annealing and the electrical behavior of the SnO2 thin films is established.  相似文献
