We consider generalizations of the standard Hamiltonian dynamics to complex dynamical variables and introduce the notions of real Hamiltonian form in analogy with the notion of real forms for a simple Lie algebra. Thus to each real Hamiltonian system we are able to relate several nonequivalent ones. On the example of the complex Toda chain we demonstrate how starting from a known integrable Hamiltonian system (e.g. the Toda chain) one can complexify it and then project onto different real forms. A new class of Hamiltonian dynamical systems with two degrees of freedom is studied, for which the Hamiltonian function is a linear form with respect to moduli of both momenta. For different potentials such systems can be either completely integrable or behave just as normal nonintegrable Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom: one observes many of the phenomena characteristic of the latter ones, such as a breakdown of invariant tori as soon as the integrability is violated; a formation of stochastic layers around destroyed separatrices; bifurcations of periodic orbits, etc. At the same time, the equations of motion are simply integrated on subsequent adjacent time intervals, as in billiard systems; i.e., all the trajectories can be calculated explicitly: Given an initial data, the state of the system is uniquely determined for any moment. This feature of systems in interest makes them very attractive models for a study of nonlinear phenomena in finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. A simple representative model of this class (a model with quadratic potential), whose dynamics is typical, is studied in detail. (c) 1997 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

The behavior of the phase trajectories of the Hamilton equations is commonly classified as regular and chaotic. Regularity is usually related to the condition for complete integrability, i.e., a Hamiltonian system with n degrees of freedom has n independent integrals in involution. If at the same time the simultaneous integral manifolds are compact, the solutions of the Hamilton equations are quasiperiodic. In particular, the entropy of the Hamiltonian phase flow of a completely integrable system is zero. It is found that there is a broader class of Hamiltonian systems that do not show signs of chaotic behavior. These are systems that allow n commuting "Lagrangian" vector fields, i.e., the symplectic 2-form on each pair of such fields is zero. They include, in particular, Hamiltonian systems with multivalued integrals. (c) 1996 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

Monodromy is the simplest obstruction to the existence of global action–angle variables in integrable Hamiltonian dynamical systems. We consider one of the simplest possible systems with monodromy: a particle in a circular box containing a cylindrically symmetric potential-energy barrier. Systems with monodromy have nontrivial smooth connections between their regular Liouville tori. We consider a dynamical connection produced by an appropriate time-dependent perturbation of our system. This turns studying monodromy into studying a physical process. We explain what aspects of this process are to be looked upon in order to uncover the interesting and somewhat unexpected dynamical behavior resulting from the nontrivial properties of the connection. We compute and analyze this behavior.  相似文献

We present a direct link between manifestations of classical Hamiltonian chaos and quantum nonintegrability effects as they occur in quantum invariants. In integrable classical Hamiltonian systems, analytic invariants (integrals of the motion) can be constructed numerically by means of time averages of dynamical variables over phase-space trajectories, whereas in near-integrable models such time averages yield nonanalytic invariants with qualitatively different properties. Translated into quantum mechanics, the invariants obtained from time averages of dynamical variables in energy eigenstates provide a topographical map of the plane of quantized actions (quantum numbers) with properties which again depend sensitively on whether or not the classical integrability condition is satisfied. The most conspicuous indicator of quantum chaos is the disappearance of quantum numbers, a phenomenon directly related to the breakdown of invariant tori in the classical phase flow. All results are for a system consisting of two exchange-coupled spins with biaxial exchange and single-site anisotropy, a system with a nontrivial integrability condition.  相似文献

Nonlinear multi-dimensional Hamiltonian systems that are not near integrable typically have mixed phase space and a plethora of instabilities. Hence, it is difficult to analyze them, to visualize them, or even to interpret their numerical simulations. We survey an emerging methodology for analyzing a class of such systems: Hamiltonians with steep potentials that limit to billiards.  相似文献

We define and discuss the notion of quantum integrability of a classically integrable system within the framework of deformation quantization, i.e. the question whether the classical conserved quantities (which are already in involution with respect to the Poisson bracket) commute with respect to some star product on the phase space after possible quantum corrections. As an example of this method, we show by means of suitable 2 by 2 quantum R-matrices that a list of Toda-like classical integrable systems given by Y. B. Suris is quantum integrable with respect to the usual star product of the Weyl type in flat 2n-dimensional space.  相似文献

The theorem on symmetries is proved that states that a Liouville-integrable Hamiltonian system is non-degene\-rate in Kolmogorov's sense and has compact invariant submanifolds if and only if the corresponding Lie algebra of symmetries is abelian. The theorem on symmetries has applications to the characterization problem, to the integrable hierarchies problem, to the necessary conditions for the strong dynamical compatibility problem, and to the problem on master symmetries. The invariant necessary conditions for the non-degenerate C-integrability in Kolmogorov's sense of a given dynamical system V are derived. It is proved that the C-integrable Hamiltonian system is non-degenerate in the iso-energetic sense if and only if the corresponding Lie algebra of the iso-energetic conformal symmetries is abelian. An extended concept of integrability of Hamiltonian systems on the symplectic manifolds M n , n= 2k, is introduced. The concept of integrability describes the Hamiltonian systems that have quasi-periodic dynamics on tori or on toroidal cylinders of an arbitrary dimension . This concept includes, as a particular case, all Hamiltonian systems that are integrable in Liouville's classical sense, for which . The A-B-C-cohomologies are introduced for dynamical systems on smooth manifolds. Received: 16 January 1996 / Accepted: 3 July 1996  相似文献

A semi-direct sum of two Lie algebras of four-by-four matrices is presented, and a discrete four-by-four matrix spectral problem is introduced. A hierarchy of discrete integrable coupling systems is derived. The obtained integrable coupling systems are all written in their Hamiltonian forms by the discrete variational identity. Finally, we prove that the lattice equations in the obtained integrable coupling systems are all Liouville integrable discrete Hamiltonian systems.  相似文献

The dynamics in weakly chaotic Hamiltonian systems strongly depends on initial conditions (ICs) and little can be affirmed about generic behaviors. Using two distinct Hamiltonian systems, namely one particle in an open rectangular billiard and four particles globally coupled on a discrete lattice, we show that in these models, the transition from integrable motion to weak chaos emerges via chaotic stripes as the nonlinear parameter is increased. The stripes represent intervals of initial conditions which generate chaotic trajectories and increase with the nonlinear parameter of the system. In the billiard case, the initial conditions are the injection angles. For higher-dimensional systems and small nonlinearities, the chaotic stripes are the initial condition inside which Arnold diffusion occurs.  相似文献

Schroedinger equation on a Hilbert space H, represents a linear Hamiltonian dynamical system on the space of quantum pure states, the projective Hilbert space PH. Separable states of a bipartite quantum system form a special submanifold of PH. We analyze the Hamiltonian dynamics that corresponds to the quantum system constrained on the manifold of separable states, using as an important example the system of two interacting qubits. The constraints introduce nonlinearities which render the dynamics nontrivial. We show that the qualitative properties of the constrained dynamics clearly manifest the symmetry of the qubits system. In particular, if the quantum Hamilton’s operator has not enough symmetry, the constrained dynamics is nonintegrable, and displays the typical features of a Hamiltonian dynamical system with mixed phase space. Possible physical realizations of the separability constraints are discussed.  相似文献

This paper develops a new theory of tensor invariants of a completely integrable non-degenerate Hamiltonian system on a smooth manifoldM n. The central objects in this theory are supplementary invariant Poisson structuresP c which are incompatable with the original Poisson structureP 1 for this Hamiltonian system. A complete classification of invariant Poisson structures is derived in a neighbourhood of an invariant toroidal domain. This classification resolves the well-known Inverse Problem that was brought into prominence by Magri's 1978 paper deveoted to the theory of compatible Poisson structures. Applications connected with the KAM theory, with the Kepler problem, with the basic integrable problem of celestial mechanics, and with the harmonic oscillator are pointed out. A cohomology is defined for dynamical systems on smooth manifolds. The physically motivated concepts of dynamical compatibility and strong dynamical compatibility of pairs of Poisson structures are introduced to study the diversity of pairs of Poisson structures incompatible in Magri's sense. It is proved that if a dynamical systemV preserves two strongly dynamically compatible Poisson structuresP 1 andP 2 in a general position then this system is completely integrable. Such a systemV generates a hierarchy of integrable dynamical systems which in general are not Hamiltonian neither with respect toP 1 nor with respect toP 2. Necessary conditions for dynamical compatibility and for strong dynamical compatibility are derived which connect these global properties with new local invariants of an arbitrary pair of incompatible Poisson structures.Supported by NSERC grant OGPIN 337.  相似文献

We develop a new method for constructing integrable Hamiltonian hierarchies of Lax type equations, which combines the fractional powers technique of Gelfand and Dickey, and the classical Hamiltonian reduction technique of Drinfeld and Sokolov. The method is based on the notion of an Adler type matrix pseudodifferential operator and the notion of a generalized quasideterminant. We also introduce the notion of a dispersionless Adler type series, which is applied to the study of dispersionless Hamiltonian equations. Non-commutative Hamiltonian equations are discussed in this framework as well.  相似文献

Hamilton-Dirac equations for a constrained Hamiltonian system are deduced from a variational principle. In the local problem for such systems an algorithm is proposed to obtain the final constraint manifold and the dynamical vector field on it using vector fields on the phase space. The global problem is solved in terms of fiber bundles associated with the problem.  相似文献

This paper focuses on studying Lie symmetries and non-Noether conserved quantities of Hamiltonian dynamical systems in phase space. Based on the infinitesimal transformations with respect to the generalized coordinates and generalized momenta, we obtain the determining equations and structure equation of the Lie symmetry for Hamiltonian dynamical systems. This work extends the research of non-Noether conserved quantity for Hamilton canonical equations, and leads directly to a new type of non-Noether conserved quantities of the systems. Finally, an example is given to illustrate these results.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to introduce a class of Hamiltonian autonomous systems in dimension 4 which are completely integrable and their dynamics is described in all details. They have an equilibrium point which is stable for some rare elements of the class, and unstable in most cases. Anyhow, it is linearly stable (all orbits of the linearized system are bounded) and no motion is asymptotic in the past, namely no non-constant solution has the equilibrium as limit point as time goes to minus infinity. In the unstable cases, there is a sequence of initial data which converges to the equilibrium point whose corresponding solutions are unbounded and the motion is slow. So instability is quite weak and perhaps no such explicit examples of instability are known in the literature. The stable cases are also interesting since the level sets of the 2 first integrals independent and in involution keep being non-compact and stability is related to the isochronous periodicity of all orbits near the equilibrium point and the existence of a further first integral. Hopefully, these superintegrable Hamiltonian systems will deserve further research.  相似文献

Based on a discrete four-by-four matrix spectral problem, a hierarchy of Lax integrable lattice equations with two potentials is derived. Two Hamiltonian forms are constructed for each lattice equation in the resulting hierarchy by means of the discrete variational identity. A strong symmetry operator of the resulting hierarchy is given. Finally, it is shown that the resulting lattice equations are all Liouville integrable discrete Hamiltonian systems.  相似文献

We study periodic orbits of Hamiltonian differential systems with three degrees of freedom using the averaging theory. We have chosen the classical integrable Hamiltonian system with the Hooke potential and we study periodic orbits which bifurcate from the periodic orbits of the integrable system perturbed with a non-autonomous potential.  相似文献

We study a paradigmatic system with long-range interactions: the Hamiltonian mean-field (HMF) model. It is shown that in the thermodynamic limit this model does not relax to the usual equilibrium Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution. Instead, the final stationary state has a peculiar core-halo structure. In the thermodynamic limit, HMF is neither ergodic nor mixing. Nevertheless, we find that using dynamical properties of Hamiltonian systems it is possible to quantitatively predict both the spin distribution and the velocity distribution functions in the final stationary state, without any adjustable parameters. We also show that HMF undergoes a nonequilibrium first-order phase transition between paramagnetic and ferromagnetic states.  相似文献
