Depth distribution of239,240Pu and137Cs in the soils of South Korea have been studied. The average accumulated depositions were estimated roughly to be 54.8±32.1 Bq·m–2 for239,240Pu, 1.6±1.0 Bq· ·m–2 for238Pu and 1982.8±929.1 Bq·m–2 for137Cs. The activity ratios of239,240Pu/137Cs in soils were found to be in the narrow range of 0.0153 to 0.0364 with a mean value of 0.0230±0.006. The concentrations of239,240Pu and137Cs in soils decrease exponentially with increasing the soil depth. A significant correlation was found between the concentration of239,240Pu and that of137Cs. The activity ratios of239,240Pu/137Cs tend to increase slightly with increasing soil depth.  相似文献

The contents and distribution patterns of137Cs and239,240Pu in the sediments of the Seto Inland Sea were determined. In most of the sediment columns, approximately uniform concentrations were found to a depth of around 20 cm, probably due to bioturbation. Total amounts of137Cs in the sediment column are considerably lower than the global fallout inputs. It is suggested that a significant portion of137Cs input was removed from the Seto Inland Sea to the open ocean. Large excess inventories of239,240Pu over fallout input were observed in the investigated sediment columns.  相似文献

The cumulative depositions of137Cs,90Sr and fallout Pu in the volcanic ash soil of Korea were determined. The average accumulated depositions of137Cs,90Sr and fallout Pu in the volcanic soil were much higher than those in other forest sites of Korea. From depth profiles, it was found that137Cs,90Sr and239,240Pu in the volcanic soil are more mobile than those in other forest sites of Korea, and that the downward movement of90Sr is faster than137Cs and239,240Pu. A significant correlation was found between the concentration of137Cs and those of90Sr and239,240Pu. The activity ratios of238Pu/239,240Pu and241Pu/239,240Pu in soils are close to those observed in the cumulative deposit from the global fallout of nuclear weapon testings.  相似文献

Depth profiles and inventories of237Np in sediment cores from the Ribble Estuary in the Irish Sea have been studied along with those of Pu isotopes,241Am and137Cs, to allow a more detailed look of anomalously high237Np content observed in this estuary previously. The comprehensive data obtained showed that the depth profiles of both237Np contents and237Np/239,240Pu activity ratios were clearly different from those of239,240Pu,241Am, and137Cs and their activity ratios. As much as 80–90% of237Np inventories (0.32–1.06 kBq/m2), found in three cores, were estimated to be derived from a source other than Sellafield, on the basis of comparison of the237Np/239,240Pu inventory ratio (0.65–1.74%) found in the Ribble Estuary cores with those (0.10–0.16%) in the Ravenglass Estuary cores.  相似文献

The concentrations of137Cs were determined by in 11 sediment samples, collected along the Romanian sector of the Danube river and the Black Sea coast during 1994 γ-ray spectrometry. The concentrations of90Sr in the same sediment samples were determined by β-counting of the90Y oxalate, precipitated after strontium separation using a strontium extraction chromatography column. The concentration distributions of137Cs and90Sr are compared with the238Pu and239,240Pu concentration distributions in the same samples, reported in a previous paper. The accumulation potential of137Cs,90Sr and plutonium isotopes in the river and sea sediments analysed is discussed.  相似文献

To clarify environmental effects of the Chemobyl radionuclides, long-lived Chernobyl radioactivity (239,240Pu,238Pu,241Pu and90Sr) in deposition samples in May 1986 was measured at 11 stations in Japan. Temporal variation of weekly deposition of90Sr differed from that of volatile radionuclides such as131I and137Cs, which may reflect the released process at Chernobyl. On the other hand, the geographical distributions of the monthly deposition of long-lived radionuclides were similar to those of volatile radionuclides, in which maximum deposits of90Sr and plutonium were observed in Akita, a northwestern Japan Sea coast site of Honshu Island. Higher241Pu deposition in most of the stations, as well as high238Pu/239,240Pu activity ratios were observed. The241Pu/238Pu activity ratios in deposition samples were nearly equal to that in the total release, which is clear evidence that Chernobyl-derived plutonium was transported to Japan in May 1986 together with volatile radionuclides although the contribution of Chernobyl Pu was about three orders of magnitude lower than137Cs.  相似文献

Long-lived radionuclides,99Tc,137Cs,237Np, Pu isotopes and241Am were determined in the long sediment cores collected from nine intertidal sites around the west Cumbria of the Irish Sea, UK. The inventories of all nuclides measured varied considerably among the sampling sites, but generally their inventories decreased with increasing distance from Sellafield. Furthermore, the inventory ratios with respect to relationship with distance from Sellafield enabled comparison of transport behavior of99Tc,137Cs,237Np and241Am compared with239,240Pu. As a consequence, the apparent fractional rate of solution transport to the intertidal sediment was found to increase as follows:99Tc>137Cs>237Np>239,240Pu≥241Am.  相似文献

This paper gives the first data on239,240Pu and241Am in Chinese soils. Surface soil samples with a set of 0–5 cm and 5–20 cm depth were collected from Beijing, Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang and Jinang of China in 1990, and239,240Pu,241Am and137Cs, including naturally occurring radionuclides, in these samples were measured to evaluate their present levels and distributions. From these results, the average accumulated depositions were estimated roughly to be 24±13 MBq/km2 for239,240Pu, 10±5 MBq/km2 for241Am and 1.2±0.7 GBq/km2 for137Cs. The activity ratios of239,240Pu/137Cs and241Am/239,240Pu ranged from 0.016 to 0.026 with a mean value of 0.020±0.004 and 0.35 to 0.49 with a mean value of 0.43±0.05, respectively.  相似文献

Field missions were sent to Semipalatinsk City and several settlements near the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site to investigate the current radioactive contamination levels of the land coming from long-lived radionuclides. The soil was sampled at about 20 sites, including some settlements such as Mostik, Dolon and Chagan, forest and pasture areas, along the roads from Semipalatinsk City to Kurchatov City and to Korosteli settlement in the direction of the Altai District. The radioactivities of137Cs,238Pu and239,240Pu as well as240Pu/239Pu atomic ratios in the soil were determined by non-destructive γ-ray spectrometry and radiochemical separation followed by α-ray spectrometry and/or ICP-MS, respectively. The results showed a distinction of137Cs and239,240Pu inventories in soil depending on the site where we visited. While the overall137Cs levels were as same as or slightly lower than the domestic global fallout level (3·103–7·103 Bq/m2),239,240Pu levels at some sites were several to a few ten times higher than the domestic level (40–120 Bq/m2). The atomic ratios of240Pu/239Pu in the soil were in the range of 0.024–0.125, which were significantly lower than the value of 0.18 commonly accepted for global fallout Pu.  相似文献

The distribution of 137Cs and 239,240Pu in various ecosystems of the Kara Sea as well as speciation of these radionuclides has been studied to assess their potential mobility. In bottom sediment and seawater samples collected in Abrosimov, Tsivolky, Stepovoy, and Sedov Bays and on the coast of Novaya Zemlya, the content of anthropogenic radionuclides 137Cs and 239,240Pu does not exceed the values typical of the offshore zone in the Kara Sea (in sea water: 1.0–3.7 Bq/m3 for 137Cs and 50–90 mBq/m3 for 239,240Pu; in bottom sediments: 0.5–18.3 Bq/kg for 137Cs and 4.3–7.3 Bq/kg for 239,240Pu). The present monitoring study is important for the development of a long-term forecast for the dynamics of environmental contamination in the shallow bays of Novaya Zemlya.  相似文献

The238Pu,239,240Pu and137Cs concentrations in sediments and shore deposition samples of the Vltava river were determined.239,240Pu and137Cs concentrations in sediment samples (five locations) ranged from 19.6 to 124.8 mBq·kg−1 and from 1.8 to 28.2 Bq·kg−1, respectively. The238Pu,239,240Pu and137Cs concentrations in shore deposition samples (four locations) ranged from 2 to 16.8, from 26.8 to 477.2 mBq·kg−1, and from 1.6 to 86.3 Bq·kg−1, respectively. The superficial activity of studied radionuclides in shore deposition areas was determined and radionuclide origin at studied locations was discussed.  相似文献

Geochemical association of137Cs and239,240Pu in the surface sediments from two oligotrophic and mesotrophic lakes in Japan was studied by sequential chemical extractions. The fractions separated were exchangeable and bound to carbonate, bound to oxides, bound to organic mattersulfides, and residual. The137Cs and239,240Pu were mainly associated with the organic matter-sulfides and residual fractions but exhibited the different vertical profiles at both lakes. The differences in association patterns between the lakes may be controlled by transport of these nuclides by organic settling particles to the bottom sediments and decomposition of the organics in the sediments.  相似文献

Plutonium isotopes in the Sea of Japan were determined to assess radioactive contamination. Concentrations of 239,240Pu in surface water of the Sea of Japan were maintained at a constant level over the past two decades in contrast to 137Cs. A median value of surface 239,240Pu in the Sea of Japan in this period was 5.6 mBq/m3 with the range between 2.1 and 14.0 mBq/m3, which is slightly higher than that in the western North Pacific. The vertical distribution of 239,240Pu showed a surface minimum, a subsurface maximum and gradual decrease with increasing depth. The 241Pu/239,240Pu activity ratios in water columns were almost constant except for surface water. In regard to 239,240Pu in surface water of the Sea of Japan, these findings suggest that rapid recycling of deeper plutonium occurs in the Sea of Japan due to deep convection in winter and biogeochemical processes such as particle scavenging and remineralization.  相似文献

The concentration of239,240Pu and241Am in different samples collected from the coastal marine environment of Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan facing the Pacific Ocean have been studied. Seawater samples have been collected since 1975 and sea-biota since 1981. The mean concentration levels of239,240Pu and241Am were 0.51, 0.20 for anchovy, 0.22, 0.11 for flounder, 4.9, 0.77 for brown algae, 2.0, 2.4 for shellfish, and 0.022, 0.0028 for seawater (in mBq/kl), respectively. The chronological change of239,240Pu in seawater was influence by fallout amounts. The activity ratio between the nuclides showed steady levels after two years from the end of atmospheric nuclear explosion tests. Activity levels and the ratios for each type of sample are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Concentrations of239,240Pu and241Am in filtered seawater, particulate fraction and sediment were measured. Methods for determination of these nuclides were critically chequed and a new rapid method for241Am in sediment was developed. Due to seasonal variation a significant decrease of plutonium and americium concentrations in surface water takes place in summer. Americium is more efficiently associated with particulate matter than plutonium. From May 1980 to September 1984 soluble plutonium in the water was reduced to about half. The residence half-time of239,240Pu in the water of Baltic Sea is of the order of 5 years. About similar concentrations of239,240Pu and241Am were found in particulates in water as in the surface layer of the sediment. The average Kd-values for plutonium and americium were 105 and 105–106 ml/g, respectively.  相似文献

Artificial radionuclides in deposition and airborne dust samples in 1986 were measured at Tsukuba and 11 stations in Japan. In May 1986, the Chernobyl radioactivity was observed in rain and air samples in Japan. The Chernobyl-derived Pu isotopes, which are characterized by higher238Pu/239,240Pu (85) and241Pu/238Pu (0.5) activity ratios than those of the nuclear test-derived Pu and90Sr, were detected in deposition and airborne dust samples in Japan, as well as volatile radionuclides such as131I and137Cs. However, the activities of Pu isotopes and90Sr observed in Japan were about two and three orders of magnitude lower than those expected from the activity ratios in the total release at Chernobyl, which means that the residence time of Pu in the air was shorter than that of137Cs. In order to understand the fractionation between the Chernobyl radionuclides we studied about individual wet and dry deposition. The results suggest that this cause is due to the difference of the particle size of radionuclide-bearing particles, which may be related to the release process of Chernobyl radionuclides.  相似文献

Six peat cores taken from three unmodified blanket and raised bogs in Ireland were sectioned and analyzed for a range of radionuclides including134Cs,137Cs,238Pu,239Pu,241Am, and210Pb.134Cs and137Cs were measured by high resolution gamma-spectrometry, while the transuranium nuclides were determined after chemical separation by alpha-spectrometry.241Pu, present on the electroplated discs together with Pu(), was measured directly by low-level liquid scintillation counting. Core chronologies were established by measuring the unsupported210Pb component using low energy photon spectrometry (LEPS). From the resulting profiles, relaxation depths and migration rates for the above mentioned radionuclides have been determined and differences in the values of these parameters interpreted.238Pu/239,240Pu and241Pu/239,240Pu ratios have been examined carefully and are discussed in some detail. Finally, the contribution from Chernobyl to the total radiocaesium inventory in each core has been established using the134Cs/137Cs ratio observed in the initial fallout from Chernobyl.  相似文献

A number of soil and peat cores, sampled throughout Ireland from November 1987 to March 1988, have been analyzed for fallout caesium and plutonium. Specifically,134Cs and137Cs levels were measured by high resolution gamma spectrometry while238Pu and239,240Pu were determined after chemical extraction by alpha spectrometry. The inventories of these nuclides at the locations sampled have been calculated from the resulting profiles and, by extrapolation, preliminary estimates made of the cumulative deposition throughout Ireland. The relative contribution from weapons testing in the atmosphere and the Chernobyl accident to the total caesium inventory have been determined by the134Cs/137Cs isotopic ratio. As expected, no plutonium of Chernobyl origin was detected in surface layers. The cumulative238Pu/239,240Pu ratio measured in Irish soils was found to be consistant with mid-latitude ratios reported by others.  相似文献

Salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) samples were collected on the Pacific coast of Japan and analyzed for their239+240Pu and137Cs concentrations in six places, i.e., muscle, viscera, gill, gonad, skin and spine. The239+240Pu concentrations in muscle ranged from 0.07 to 0.14 mBq/kg (wet) and had the lowest value among the six regions. The mean239+240Pu concentrations in viscera, gonad and spine were more than 1 mBq/kg (wet_ while those in muscle and skin were one order of magnitude lower. The largest amounts of239+240Pu were accumulated in gonad. The239+240Pu/137Cs activity ratios in all positions were lower than that of the global fallout ratio of 0.022, suggesting that137Cs could be accumulated with greater ease than239+240Pu in all positions and ratios of uptake differed remarkably from position to position. The total accumulations of239+240Pu and137Cs in salmon were 1.32 and 328 mBq/individual, respectively.  相似文献

Intertidal coastal and estuarine sediments from 24 sites in the Irish Sea have been analyzed for99Tc,237Np,238Pu,239,240Pu and241Am. The237Np activity and239Pu/240Pu ratio were measured simultaneously by ICP-MS, and99Tc was determined by HR-ICP-MS which is ten times more sensitive than Q-ICP-MS.The activities of99Tc,237Np,239,240Pu and241Am were distributed over a wide range of 1.5–70.5, 0.01–13.3, 2.3–1589, 2.6–1894 Bq/kg, respectively. Activities of these radionuclides decreased exponentially with distance from the Sellafield source. The241Am/239,240Pu and237Np/239,240Pu ratios were almost constant with distance from the Sellafield. This result suggests that the distribution and behavior of Np and Pu are controlled by complicated factors such as the influence of transport, the variation with time of Np/Pu ratio in the Sellafield discharges and sedimentary mixing processes in the Irish Sea.  相似文献
