A neutron spin polarimetric experiment is described which explicitly demonstrates the noncommutation properties of Pauli spin operators. Commutation of the sequential order of two successive π spin rotators leads to different final polarization states of the transmitted neutron beam. An interpretation of the observations is also given in terms of interference between two mutually orthogonal spin states that undergo different phase shifts upon the commutation of spin rotators.  相似文献

Feynman's path-integral quantum-mechanical formulation is generalised for particles of spin 1/2. In the one-particle case, the path-integral formulation uses paths in a Euclidean real five-dimensional space, two coordinates (u, v) being reserved for spin. The path integral is proven to correspond exactly to the Pauli equation. A canonical density-matrix formulation is also dealt with. Basic ideas are to start with differential spin operators instead of the Pauli matrices and apply them to functions ψ=ψ 1(r,t)u +gy 2(r,t)v whereψ 1,ψ 2 are the Pauli wave functions. Then a ‘nilpotent’ spin ‘kinetic-energy’ term is added to the Hamiltonian. This enables us to find a non-matrix spin-dependent Lagrangian which is used as usual in the action of a path integral of the Feynman type. Integral relations are derived from which the path integral can be transformed into components of the Pauli matrix Green's function (propagator) or the canonical density matrix. As an example, a path-integral calculation of the normal Zeeman splitting is carried out.  相似文献

The finite-temperature Pauli paramagnetic susceptibility of a three-dimensional ideal anyon gas obeying Haldane fractional exclusion statistics is studied analytically.Different from the result of an ideal Fermi gas,the susceptibility of an ideal anyon gas depends on a statistical factor g in Haldane statistics model.The low-temperature and high-temperature behaviors of the susceptibility are investigated in detail.The Pauli paramagnetic susceptibility of the two-dimensional ideal anyons is also derived.It is found that the reciprocal of the susceptibility has the similar factorizable property which is exhibited in some thermodynamic quantities in two dimensions.  相似文献

We report experimental verification of the commutation relation for Pauli spin operators using the single-photon polarization state. The experimental quantum operation corresponding to the commutator, [σz,σx]=kσy, showed process fidelity of 0.94 compared to the ideal σy operation and |k| is determined to be 2.12±0.18.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider there exist two types of fundamental quasihole excitation in the fractional quantum spin Hall state and investigate their topological properties by both Chern-Simons field theory and the Berry phase technique. By the two different techniques, we obtain the identical charge and statistical angle for each type of quasihole, as well as the identical mutual statistics between two different types of quasihole excitation.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of strongly correlated Fermi systems are studied within the framework of the fermioncondensation model—phase transition associated with the rearrangement of the Landau quasiparticle distribution, resulting in the appearance of a plateau at T=0 exactly in the Fermi surface of the single-particle excitation spectrum. It is shown that the Curie-Weiss term ~T?1 appears in the expression for the spin susceptibility χac(T) of the system after the transition point at finite temperatures. The behavior of χac(T, H) as a function of temperature and static magnetic field H in the region where the critical fermion-condensation temperature T f is close to zero is discussed. After demonstrating the equivalence of an approach of the author with an earlier one of Eichten and Feinberg as far as the general form of the spin-dependent quark-antiquark potential in order 1/m 2 is concerned we point out an inconsistency in the further assumptions which were made in both papers. We show that there is a relation between the various potentials which was violated by these assumptions. The correct treatment yields an, additional spin-orbit term which reverses the sign of the one obtained before and brings it into agreement with that of an effective scalar exchange.  相似文献

The separation between the spin and the charge converts the quantum mechanical Pauli Hamiltonian into the Hamiltonian of the non-Abelian Georgi-Glashow model, which is notorious for its magnetic monopoles and confinement. The independent spin and charge fluctuations both lead to the Faddeev model, suggesting the existence of a deep duality structure and indicating that the fundamental carriers of the spin and charge are knotted solitons.
