On the <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-conjecture for locally compact groups

Let G be a locally compact group. For 1 < p < ∞, it is well-known that f * g exists and belongs to L^p(G) for all f, g L^p (G) if and only if G is compact. Here, for 2 < p < ∞, we show that f * g exists for all f, g L^p(G) if and only if G is compact. We also show that this result does not remain true for 1 < p ≤ 2. Received: 23 April 2006     

LP（Rn）-Boundedness of certain commutators

In this paper, the Lp(Rn)-boundedness of the commutators generalized by BMO(Rn) function and the singular integral operator T with rough kernel Ω∈ Llog+ L(Sn-1) is proved by using the Bony's formula for the paraproduct of two functions.     

Summability Kernels for <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> Multipliers

In this article we study the problem of extending Fourier Multipliers on L ^p (T) to those on L ^p (R) by taking convolution with a kernel, called a summability kernel. We characterize the space of such kernels for the cases p = 1 and p = 2. For other values of p we give a necessary condition for a function to be a summability kernel. For the case p = 1, we present properties of measures which are transferred from M(T) to M(R) by summability kernels. Furthermore it is shown that every l _p sequence can be extended to some L ^q (R) multipliers for certain values of p and q.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">r</Emphasis></Superscript> convergence for <Emphasis Type="Italic">B</Emphasis>-valued random elements

The paper investigates L ^p convergence and Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong laws of large numbers for random elements in a Banach space under the condition that the Banach space is of Rademacher type p, 1 < p < 2. The paper also discusses L ^r convergence and L ^r bound for random elements without any geometric restriction condition on the Banach space.     

On the <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-consistency of wavelet estimators

This paper deals with the L ^p -consistency of wavelet estimators for a density function based on size-biased random samples. More precisely, we firstly show the L ^p -consistency of wavelet estimators for independent and identically distributed random vectors in R ^d . Then a similar result is obtained for negatively associated samples under the additional assumptions d = 1 and the monotonicity of the weight function.     

Typical <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis></Superscript>-Dimensions of Measures

For a probability measure μ on a subset of , the lower and upper L^q-dimensions of order are defined by We study the typical behaviour (in the sense of Baire’s category) of the L^q-dimensions and . We prove that a typical measure μ is as irregular as possible: for all q ≥ 1, the lower L^q-dimension attains the smallest possible value and the upper L^q-dimension attains the largest possible value.     

On convex risk measures on <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-spaces

Much of the recent literature on risk measures is concerned with essentially bounded risks in L ^∞. In this paper we investigate in detail continuity and representation properties of convex risk measures on L ^p spaces. This frame for risks is natural from the point of view of applications since risks are typically modelled by unbounded random variables. The various continuity properties of risk measures can be interpreted as robustness properties and are useful tools for approximations. As particular examples of risk measures on L ^p we discuss the expected shortfall and the shortfall risk. In the final part of the paper we consider the optimal risk allocation problem for L ^p risks.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis>-bounded Representations of <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript>1</Superscript> (<Emphasis Type="Italic">G</Emphasis>)

We investigate R-bounded representations , where X is a Banach space and G is a lca group. Observing that Ψ induces a (strongly continuous) group homomorphism , we are then able to analyze certain classical homomorphisms U (e.g. translations in L^p (G)) from the viewpoint of R-boundedness and the theory of scalar-type spectral operators. Lambert multipliers between <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> spaces

In this paper Lambert multipliers acting between L ^p spaces are characterized by using some properties of conditional expectation operator. Also, Fredholmness of corresponding bounded operators is investigated.     

The existence of eigenvalues for operators acting in <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript>2</Superscript>(<Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript>)

We present conditions that allow us to prove the existence of eigenvalues and characteristic values for operator F(D) ? C(λ): L ²(R ^m ) → L ²(R ^m ), where F(D) is a pseudo-differential operator with a symbol F(iξ) and C(λ): L ²(R ^m ) → L ²(R ^m ) is a linear continuous operator.     

Diffeomorphisms with <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-shadowing property

We give a characterization of structurally stable diffeomorphisms by making use of the notion of L ^p -shadowing property. More precisely, we prove that the set of structurally stable diffeomorphisms coincides with the C ¹-interior of the set of diffeomorphisms having L ^p -shadowing property.     

Weighted <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-conjecture for locally compact groups

Let G be a locally compact group, ω be a weight function on G and 1 < p < ∞. Here, we give a sufficient condition for that the weighted L ^p -space L ^p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra. Also, we get some necessary conditions on G and the weight function ω for L ^p (G, ω) to be a Banach algebra. As a consequence, we show that if G is abelian and L ^p (G, ω) is a Banach algebra, then G is σ-compact.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-Integrability,Supports of Fourier Transforms and Uniqueness for Convolution Equations

It is proved that a nonzero function is not in L^p(Rⁿ) with p \le 2n/d if its Fourier transform is supported by a d-dimensional submanifold. It is shown that the assertion fails for p > 2n/d and d \ge n/2. The result is applied for obtaining uniqueness theorems for convolution equations in L^p-spaces.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-maximal regularity for second order Cauchy problems

We introduce the concept of L^p-maximal regularity for second order Cauchy problems. We prove L^p-maximal regularity for an abstract model problem and we apply the abstract results to prove existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions for nonlinear wave equations. Pointwise convergence for semigroups in vector-valued <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> spaces

Suppose that {T _t  : t  ≥  0} is a symmetric diffusion semigroup on L ²(X) and denote by its tensor product extension to the Bochner space , where belongs to a certain broad class of UMD spaces. We prove a vector-valued version of the Hopf–Dunford–Schwartz ergodic theorem and show that this extends to a maximal theorem for analytic continuations of on . As an application, we show that such continuations exhibit pointwise convergence.     

On the <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript>-boundedness of pseudo-differential operators with non-regular symbols

In this paper, we consider the continuity property of pseudo-differential operators with symbols whose Fourier transforms have compact support. As applications, we obtain the L ^p -boundedness for symbols in Besov spaces and in modulation spaces.     

Norm of Berezin transformon <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis></Superscript> space

It is shown that the Berezin transform B on L ^p (D), where D is the unit disc, has norm . Furthermore, the norms of a family of operators (on L ^p (D)) whose kernels are moduli of Bergman type kernels are also calculated. Partially supported by MNZZS, Grant ON144010
