An axially moving visco-elastic Rayleigh beam with cubic non-linearity is considered, and the governing partial-differential equation of motion for large amplitude vibration is derived through geometrical, constitutive, and dynamical relations. By directly applying the method of multiple scales to the governing equations of motion, and considering the solvability condition, the linear and non-linear frequencies and mode shapes of the system are analytically formulated. In the presence of damping terms, it can be seen that the amplitude is exponentially time-dependent, and as a result, the non-linear natural frequencies of the system will be time-dependent. For the resonance case, through considering the solvability condition and Routh–Hurwitz criterion, the stability conditions are developed analytically. Eventually, the effects of system parameters on the vibrational behavior, stability and bifurcation points of the system are investigated through parametric studies.  相似文献

Principal parametric resonance in transverse vibration is investigated for viscoelastic beams moving with axial pulsating speed. A nonlinear partial-differential equation governing the transverse vibration is derived from the dynamical, constitutive, and geometrical relations. Under certain assumption, the partial-differential reduces to an integro-partial-differential equation for transverse vibration of axially accelerating viscoelastic nonlinear beams. The method of multiple scales is applied to two equations to calculate the steady-state response. Closed form solutions for the amplitude of the vibration are derived from the solvability condition of eliminating secular terms. The stability of straight equilibrium and nontrivial steady-state response are analyzed by use of the Lyapunov linearized stability theory. Numerical examples are presented to highlight the effects of speed pulsation, viscoelascity, and nonlinearity and to compare results obtained from two equations.  相似文献

Approximate solutions of axially moving viscoelastic beams subject to multi-frequency excitations are presented. A non-linear partial-differential equation governing the transverse vibration of the beams is derived from Newton's second law, the Kelvin constitutive relationship, and the Lagrangian strain. Based on 1-term Galerkin's truncation, the governing equation is reduced to an ordinary differential equation. Three cases, including superharmonic resonance case, subharmonic resonance, and combination resonance are studied. The approximate solutions of the transverse vibration of the beams are obtained. Numerical results show that the approximate solutions are in good agreement with numerical results.  相似文献

In the present study, the non-linear vibration of an elastic plate subjected to heavy fluid loading in an inclined magnetic field is investigated. The structural non-linearity, fluid non-linearity, and the effects of magnetic field are all incorporated in the formulations to derive the governing equation of the plate. The method of multiple scales is adopted to determine the eigenvalues and mode shapes of the linear vibration, and then the amplitude of the non-linear vibration response of the plate is calculated. Based on the assumptions of ordering and formulations of multiple scales, it can be concluded that the linear dynamic behavior of the plate under heavy fluid loading but weak near-resonant loading is influenced by the effects of the fluid loading, linear structural rigidity and linear magnetic field, furthermore, the non-linear dynamic behavior of the plate under heavy fluid loading but weak near-resonant loading is dominated and controlled by the effects of the fluid loading, non-linear structural rigidity and non-linear magnetic field. Both thick and thin plates are investigated; the contributions due to the structural non-linearity and acoustic linear radiation damping are of the same order for a rather thick plate. For a thin plate, the structural non-linearity completely controls the behavior of the plate, which implies that in this case the effect of fluid loading is considerably negligible. In general, it can be concluded that both the effects of magnetic field and structural non-linearity play important roles only on the first few modes of the plate.  相似文献

Here, the large amplitude free flexural vibration behaviors of thin laminated composite skew plates are investigated using finite element approach. The formulation includes the effects of shear deformation, in-plane and rotary inertia. The geometric non-linearity based on von Karman's assumptions is introduced. The non-linear governing equations obtained employing Lagrange's equations of motion are solved using the direct iteration technique. The variation of non-linear frequency ratios with amplitudes is brought out considering different parameters such as skew angle, number of layers, fiber orientation, boundary condition and aspect ratio. The influence of higher vibration modes on the non-linear dynamic behavior of laminated skew plates is also highlighted. The present study reveals the redistribution of vibrating mode shape at certain amplitude of vibration depending on geometric and lamination parameters of the plate. Also, the degree of hardening behavior increases with the skew angle and its rate of change depends on the level of amplitude of vibration.  相似文献

Modeling transverse vibration of nonlinear strings is investigated via numerical solutions of partial-differential equations and an integro-partial-differential equation. By averaging the tension along the deflected string, the classic nonlinear model of a transversely vibrating string, Kirchhoff’s equation, is derived from another nonlinear model, a partial-differential equation. The partial-differential equation is obtained via neglecting longitudinal terms in a governing equation for coupled planar vibration. The finite difference schemes are developed to solve numerically those equations. An index is proposed to compare the transverse responses calculated from the two models with the transverse component calculated from the coupled equation. A steel string and a rubber string are treated as examples to demonstrate the differences between the two models of transverse vibration and their deviation from the full model of coupled vibration. The numerical results indicate that the differences increase with the amplitude of vibration. Both models yield satisfactory results of almost the same precision for vibration of small amplitudes. For large amplitudes, the Kirchhoff equation gives better results.  相似文献

This paper investigates longtime dynamical behaviors of an axially accelerating viscoelastic string with geometric nonlinearity. Application of Newton's second law leads to a nonlinear partial-differential equation governing transverse motion of the string. The Galerkin method is applied to truncate the partial-differential equation into a set of ordinary differential equations. By use of the Poincare maps, the dynamical behaviors are presented based on the numerical solutions of the ordinary differential equations. The bifurcation diagrams are presented for varying one of the following parameter: the mean transport speed, the amplitude and the frequency of transport speed fluctuation, the string stiffness or the string dynamic viscosity, while other parameters are fixed.  相似文献

This paper investigates nonlinear dynamical behaviors in transverse motion of an axially accelerating viscoelastic beam via the differential quadrature method. The governing equation, a nonlinear partial-differential equation, is derived from the viscoelastic constitution relation using the material derivative. The differential quadrature scheme is developed to solve numerically the governing equation. Based on the numerical solutions, the nonlinear dynamical behaviors are identified by use of the Poincare map and the phase portrait. The bifurcation diagrams are presented in the case that the mean axial speed and the amplitude of the speed fluctuation are respectively varied while other parameters are fixed. The Lyapunov exponent and the initial value sensitivity of the different points of the beam, calculated from the time series based on the numerical solutions, are used to indicate periodic motions or chaotic motions occurring in the transverse motion of the axially accelerating viscoelastic beam.  相似文献

In this study, non-linear free vibration of micro-plates based on strain gradient elasticity theory is investigated. A general form of Mindlin’s first-strain gradient elasticity theory is employed to obtain a general Kirchhoff micro-plate formulation. The von Karman strain tensor is used to capture the geometric non-linearity. The governing equations of motion and boundary conditions are obtained in a variational framework. The Homotopy analysis method is employed to obtain an accurate analytical expression for the non-linear natural frequency of vibration. For some specific values of the gradient-based material parameters, the general plate formulation can be reduced to those based on some special forms of strain gradient elasticity theory. Accordingly, three different micro-plate formulations are introduced, which are based on three special strain gradient elasticity theories. It is found that both geometric non-linearity and size effect increase the natural frequency of vibration. In a micro-plate having a thickness comparable with the material length scale parameter, the strain gradient effect on increasing the non-linear natural frequency is higher than that of the geometric non-linearity. By increasing the plate thickness, the strain gradient effect decreases or even diminishes. In this case, geometric non-linearity plays the main role on increasing the natural frequency of vibration. In addition, it is shown that for micro-plates with some specific thickness to length scale parameter ratios, both geometric non-linearity and size effect have significant role on increasing the frequency of non-linear vibration.  相似文献

This paper studies the non-linear dynamics of a soft magneto-elastic Cartesian manipulator with large transverse deflection. The system has been subjected to a time varying magnetic field and a harmonic base excitation at the roller-supported end. Unlike elastic and viscoelastic manipulators, here the governing temporal equation of motion contains additional two frequency forced, and linear and non-linear parametric excitation terms. Method of multiple scales has been used to solve the temporal equation of motion. The influences of various system parameters such as amplitude and frequency of magnetic field strength, amplitude and frequency of support motion, and the payload on the frequency response curves have been investigated for three different resonance conditions. With the help of numerical results, it has been shown that by using suitable amplitude and frequency of magnetic field, the vibration of the manipulator can be significantly controlled. The developed results and expressions can find extensive applications in the feed-forward vibration control of the flexible Cartesian manipulator using magnetic field.  相似文献

Non-linear vibration of viscoelastic pipes conveying fluid around curved equilibrium due to the supercritical flow is investigated with the emphasis on steady-state response in external and internal resonances. The governing equation, a non-linear integro-partial-differential equation, is truncated into a perturbed gyroscopic system via the Galerkin method. The method of multiple scales is applied to establish the solvability condition in the first primary resonance and the 2:1 internal resonance. The approximate analytical expressions are derived for the frequency–amplitude curves of the steady-state responses. The stabilities of the steady-state responses are determined. The generation and the vanishing of a double-jumping phenomenon on the frequency–amplitude curves are examined. The analytical results are supported by the numerical integration results.  相似文献

Non-linear vibrations of axially moving beam with time-dependent tension are investigated in this paper. The beam material is modelled as three-parameter Zener element. The Galerkin method and the fourth order Runge-Kutta method are used to solve the governing non-linear partial-differential equation. The effects of the transport speed, the tension perturbation amplitude and the internal damping on the dynamic behaviour of the system are numerically investigated. The Poincare maps and bifurcation diagrams are constructed to classify the vibrations. For small values of the transport speed and the amplitude of periodic perturbation the system is asymptotically stable with its response tending to zero. With the increase of parameters one can observe the coexistence of attractors. Regular and chaotic motion occur when the internal damping increases.  相似文献

The present work derives the accurate analytical solutions for large amplitude vibration of thin functionally graded beams. In accordance with the Euler–Bernoulli beam theory and the von Kármán type geometric non-linearity, the second-order ordinary differential equation having odd and even non-linearities can be formulated through Hamilton's principle and Galerkin's procedure. This ordinary differential equation governs the non-linear vibration of functionally graded beams with different boundary constraints. Building on the original non-linear equation, two new non-linear equations with odd non-linearity are to be constructed. Employing a generalised Senator–Bapat perturbation technique as an ingenious tool, two newly formulated non-linear equations can be solved analytically. By selecting the appropriate piecewise approximate solutions from such two new non-linear equations, the analytical approximate solutions of the original non-linear problem are established. The present solutions are directly compared to the exact solutions and the available results in the open literature. Besides, some examples are selected to confirm the accuracy and correctness of the current approach. The effects of boundary conditions and vibration amplitudes on the non-linear frequencies are also discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the problem of suppressing the vibrations of a non-linear system with a cantilever beam of varying orientation subject to parametric and direct excitation. It is known that the growth of the response is limited by non-linearity. Therefore, vibration control and high-amplitude response suppressions of the first mode of a cantilever beam can be performed using a simple non-linear feedback law. This control law is based on cubic velocity feedback. The method of multiples scales is used to construct first-order non-linear ordinary differential equations governing the modulation of the amplitudes and phases. The stability and effects of different system parameters are studied numerically.  相似文献

Nonlinear forced vibrations of in-plane translating viscoelastic plates subjected to plane stresses are analytically and numerically investigated on the steady-state responses in external and internal resonances. A nonlinear partial-differential equation with the associated boundary conditions governing the transverse motion is derived from the generalized Hamilton principle and the Kelvin relation. The method of multiple scales is directly applied to establish the solvability conditions in the primary resonance and the 3:1 internal resonance. The steady-state responses are predicted in two patterns: single-mode and two-mode solutions. The Routh?CHurvitz criterion is used to determine the stabilities of the steady-state responses. The effects of the in-plane translating speed, the viscosity coefficient, and the excitation amplitude on the steady-state responses are examined. The differential quadrature scheme is developed to solve the nonlinear governing equations numerically. The numerical calculations confirm the approximate analytical results regarding the single-mode solutions of the steady-state responses.  相似文献

A non-linear mechanical model of non-shallow linearly elastic suspended cables is employed to investigate the non-linear modal characteristics of the free planar motions. An asymptotic analysis of the equations of motion is carried out directly on the partial-differential equations overcoming the drawbacks of a discretization process. The direct asymptotic treatment delivers the approximation of the individual non-linear normal modes. General properties about the non-linearity of the in-plane modes of different type—geometric, elasto-static and elasto-dynamic—are unfolded. The spatial corrections to the considered linear mode shape caused by the quadratic geometric forces are investigated for modes belonging to the three mentioned classes. Moreover, the convergence of Galerkin reduced-order models is discussed and the influence of passive modes is highlighted.  相似文献

This paper deals with the non-linear vibration of sandwich viscoelastic shell structures. Coupling a harmonic balance method with the Galerkin's procedure, one obtains an amplitude equation depending on two complex coefficients. The latter are determined by solving a classical eigenvalue problem and two linear ones. This permits to get the non-linear frequency and the non-linear loss factor as functions of the displacement amplitude. To validate our approach, these relationships are illustrated in the case of a circular sandwich ring.  相似文献

I. INTRODUCTIONMany engineering devices, such as power transmission chains, band saws and serpentine belts, involve the vibration of axially moving beams.
