Variational principles for eigenvalues of certain functions whose values are possibly unbounded self-adjoint operators T() are proved. A generalised Rayleigh functional is used that assigns to a vector x a zero of the function T()x, x), where it is assumed that there exists at most one zero. Since there need not exist a zero for all x, an index shift may occur. Using this variational principle, eigenvalues of linear and quadratic polynomials and eigenvalues of block operator matrices in a gap of the essential spectrum are characterised. Moreover, applications are given to an elliptic eigenvalue problem with degenerate weight, Dirac operators, strings in a medium with a viscous friction, and a Sturm-Liouville problem that is rational in the eigenvalue parameter.  相似文献

The Schur transformation for generalized Nevanlinna functions has been defined and applied in [2]. In this paper we discuss its relation to a basic interpolation problem and study its effect on the minimal self-adjoint operator (or relation) realization of a generalized Nevanlinna function. D. 在参数不确定性线性系统的鲁棒控制研究中,常用到的一个指标就是使不确定性系统在输出反馈或状态反馈控制下的闭环系统在H∞-范数界γ的条件下的二次稳定.是否二次稳定,一般要验证能否找到一个正常数,ε使相应的R iccati方程有正定解.而R iccati方程一般情况下求解相当困难.本文通过具体的分析,提出了一种在给定正定矩阵的条件下,找使此正定阵是R iccati方程的解相对应的正常数ε的可能范围的方法,即求解二次自伴矩阵多项式阵特征值界的方法.文中详细给出了所用理论及算法.给出了求正常数ε范围的一个实例.  相似文献

For matrices whose eigenvalues are real (such as Hermitian or real symmetric matrices), we derive simple explicit estimates for the maximal (λmax) and the minimal (λmin) eigenvalues in terms of determinants of order less than 3. In this paper we research the lower bound of the eigenvalue of Spinc Dirac operator on the Spinc manifold. By the Weisenbock formula, we get an estimate of it, then following the idea of Th Friedrich [2] and X Zhang [6]. We get a finer estimate of it. In this paper, we study eigenvalues of Laplacian on either a bounded connected domain in an n-dimensional unit sphere Sn(1), or a compact homogeneous Riemannian manifold, or an n-dimensional compact minimal submanifold in an N-dimensional unit sphere SN(1). We estimate the k+1-th eigenvalue by the first k eigenvalues. As a corollary, we obtain an estimate of difference between consecutive eigenvlaues. Our results are sharper than ones of P. C. Yang and Yau [25], Leung [19], Li [20] and Harrel II and Stubbe [12], respectively. m-subharmonic functions are the right class of admissible solutions to the complex Hessian equation. In this paper, we generalize the definition of the complex Hessian operator to some unbounded m-subharmonic functions, and we prove that the complex Hessian operator is continuous on the monotonically decreasing sequences of m-subharmonic functions. Moreover we establish the Lelong-Jensen type formula and introduce the Lelong number for m-subharmonic functions. A useful inequality for the mixed Hessian operator is showed.  相似文献

For fixed real numbers \(c>0,\)\(\alpha >-\frac{1}{2},\) the finite Hankel transform operator, denoted by \(\mathcal {H}_c^{\alpha }\) is given by the integral operator defined on \(L^2(0,1)\) with kernel \(K_{\alpha }(x,y)= \sqrt{c xy} J_{\alpha }(cxy).\) To the operator \(\mathcal {H}_c^{\alpha },\) we associate a positive, self-adjoint compact integral operator \(\mathcal Q_c^{\alpha }=c\, \mathcal {H}_c^{\alpha }\, \mathcal {H}_c^{\alpha }.\) Note that the integral operators \(\mathcal {H}_c^{\alpha }\) and \(\mathcal Q_c^{\alpha }\) commute with a Sturm-Liouville differential operator \(\mathcal D_c^{\alpha }.\) In this paper, we first give some useful estimates and bounds of the eigenfunctions \(\varphi ^{(\alpha )}_{n,c}\) of \(\mathcal H_c^{\alpha }\) or \(\mathcal Q_c^{\alpha }.\) These estimates and bounds are obtained by using some special techniques from the theory of Sturm-Liouville operators, that we apply to the differential operator \(\mathcal D_c^{\alpha }.\) If \((\mu _{n,\alpha }(c))_n\) and \(\lambda _{n,\alpha }(c)=c\, |\mu _{n,\alpha }(c)|^2\) denote the infinite and countable sequence of the eigenvalues of the operators \(\mathcal {H}_c^{(\alpha )}\) and \(\mathcal Q_c^{\alpha },\) arranged in the decreasing order of their magnitude, then we show an unexpected result that for a given integer \(n\ge 0,\)\(\lambda _{n,\alpha }(c)\) is decreasing with respect to the parameter \(\alpha .\) As a consequence, we show that for \(\alpha \ge \frac{1}{2},\) the \(\lambda _{n,\alpha }(c)\) and the \(\mu _{n,\alpha }(c)\) have a super-exponential decay rate. Also, we give a lower decay rate of these eigenvalues. As it will be seen, the previous results are essential tools for the analysis of a spectral approximation scheme based on the eigenfunctions of the finite Hankel transform operator. Some numerical examples will be provided to illustrate the results of this work.  相似文献

The concept of quasi boundary triples and Weyl functions from extension theory of symmetric operators in Hilbert spaces is developed further and spectral estimates for resolvent differences of two self-adjoint extensions in terms of general operator ideals are proved. The abstract results are applied to self-adjoint realizations of second order elliptic differential operators on bounded and exterior domains, and partial differential operators with δ-potentials supported on hypersurfaces are studied.  相似文献
