Passively Q-switched output of a diode-pumped 1.34 μm Nd:GdVO4 laser was demonstrated by using Co2+:MgAl2O4(Co2+:MALO) crystal as the saturable absorber for the first time. When the transmission of output mirror is 15%, the Q-switched pulse width is 110 ns and a corresponding average output power is 460 mW under the pump power of 9.69 W. The optical-optical conversion efficiency is 36%. At about 330 kHz repetition rate, the single Q-switched pulse energy and the peak power are about 1.39 μJ and 12.6 W, respectively.  相似文献

3+ ion in the crystals YVO4, GdVO4, and Sr5(PO4)3F. The measurements were performed in the spectral region of the main laser transitions 4F3/24I9/2, 4F3/24I11/2, and 4F3/24I13/2by a continuous wave pump and probe technique. The calibrated gain and ESA spectra are presented and possible implications of ESA on the laser performance are estimated. It is shown that ESA can be a small loss factor to the laser emission near 1060 nm but does considerably diminish the effective emission cross sections near 1340 nm especially in Nd:YVO4 and Nd:GdVO4. Differential absorption spectra measurements of tetrahedral Co2+-doped LiGa5O8 have been made using a ps pump-probe technique. The stimulated emission from the 4T1(4P) level to the 4A2(4F) and 4T2(4F) states is observed to be overlapped by the excited-state absorption. The excited-state absorption is tentatively assigned to transition from the 4T1(4P) level of the Co2+ ion to the conduction band of LiGa5O8. For Co2+:LiGa5O8, laser operation is expected to be possible in the vicinity of 720 nm and in the 860–970 nm spectral region. The effect of atomic disorder on the electron transport and the magnetoresistance (MR) of Co2CrAl Heusler alloy (HA) films has been investigated. We show that Co2CrAl films with L21 order exhibit a negative value for the temperature coefficient of resistivity (TCR) in a temperature range of 10 < T < 290 K, and the temperature dependence of electric conductivity varies as T 3/2 similarly to that of the zero-gap semiconductors. The atomic or the site disorder on the way of L21 → B2 → A2 → amorphous state in Co2CrAl HA films causes the deviation from this dependence: reduction in the absolute value of TCR as well as decrease in the resistivity down to ϱ(T = 293 K) ∼ 200 μΩ cm in comparison to ϱ(T = 293 K) ∼ 230 μΩ cm typical for the Co2CrAl films with L21 order. The magnetic-field dependence of MR of the Co2CrAl films with L21 order is determined by two competing contributions: a positive Lorentz scattering and a negative s-d scattering. The atomic disorder in Co2CrAl films drastically changes MR behavior due to its strong influence on the magnetic properties.  相似文献

Anisotropy of the nonlinear absorption of Co2+ ions in MgAl2O4 single crystal at the wavelengths of 1.35 and 1.54 μm has been experimentally demonstrated. The experimental data are analyzed in the framework of a phenomenological model when the Co2+ ions are described as three sets of linear dipoles oriented along the crystallographic axes. Ground-state and excited state absorption cross-sections at 1.35 and 1.54 μm are evaluated to be σgsa=(4.0±0.3)×10-19, σesa=(3.6±0.4)×10-20 cm2 and σgsa=(5.1±0.3)×10-19, σesa=(4.6±0.4)×10-20 cm2, respectively. LaGaO3 crystals doped with Er3+ ions were grown by the Czochralski method and their optical properties were examined. The Er3+ energy levels have been determined from the low-temperature absorption and emission spectra. The results of Judd–Ofelt analysis are presented and compared with experimental data. The emission cross sections are determined for the 4 I 13/24 I 15/2 (1.55 μm) and 4 I 11/24 I 13/2 (2.85 μm) transitions of erbium. The 4 T 24 A 2 transition of the Mn4+ ion has been observed in the luminescence spectrum of Mn4+:Cd3Ga5O12 upon intense laser pumping. It is shown that an increase in the intensity of the 4 T 24 A 2 transition with respect to the 2 E4 A 2 transition in these crystals with increasing pumping power relates to the increased role of induced transitions. The intensity of this process is greater in the region where the 2 E4 A 2 and 4 T 24 A 2 transition bands overlap most, which leads to an increase of the zero-phonon line of the latter transition, peaking at a wavelength of 694 nm. The rates of radiative and nonradiative recombination involving the 4 T 2, 2 E, and 4 A 2 terms of the Mn4+ ion in gallium-gadolinium garnet (GGG) are calculated using data from luminescence spectra measured at different temperatures. In this paper, the output performances at 1331 nm in continuous-wave (CW) operation and the passive Q-switching regime of a Nd:Gd3Ga5O12(Nd:GGG) laser crystal have been investigated under pumping with diode lasers. A maximum CW output power of 1.5 W was reached at an incident pump power of 7.5 W; the overall optical-to-optical efficiency and the slope efficiency with respect to the pump power were 21.5% and 19.4%, respectively. The passive Q-switching regime was achieved with Co2+:LaMgAl11O19 (Co2+:LMA) saturable absorber (SA) crystals. A maximum average output power of 183 mW was recorded with a Co2+:LMA SA with initial transmission T i of 90%. The pulse energy was 18.7 μJ and the pulse duration was 26.1 ns, which correspond to a pulse peak power of 0.7 kW. With a Co2+:LMA SA with T i=81%, the average power decreased to 131 mW. However, the pulse energy increased to 21.4 μJ, the pulse duration was 16.4 ns and the pulse peak power increased to 1.3 kW.  相似文献

Excited state absorption (ESA) of Tm3+ ions in YVO4 crystal was measured using a pump and probe technique. The measurements have been performed in the wide spectral range in both the near infrared and visible region between 6000 cm-1 (NIR) and 24000 cm-1 (VIS). ESA absorption cross section spectra have been calculated for transitions from the 3 F 4 and 3 H 4 states of Tm3+ and compared to those evaluated experimentally. The excited state absorption in YVO4:Tm3+ should not influence the laser operation related to the 3F43H6 transition around 1900 nm, but it will be a significant loss factor for a potential laser action associated with the 3H43F4 transition around 1.48 μm. Mn2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles of average size 2.5±0.3 nm have been studied and characterized in the dopant concentration range 0.1–0.3% using XRD, EPR, XPS and photoluminescence methods. The experimental results obtained from these studies indicate that the doping of Mn2+ occurs primarily at the T d sites at low dopant concentration, causing the4T1(G) → 6A1(S) transition to take place in the host lattice; the observed decrease in the intensity of photoluminescence at high dopant concentration is due to the setting in of the strong Mn2+–Mn2+ interaction arising from cluster formation at the highly distorted sites near the particle surface.An erratum to this article can be found at  相似文献

Spectroscopic data of a V3+:YAG passive Q-switch crystal were measured. The absorption recovery time was determined to be of 37±7 ns and the ground state absorption cross section was estimated to be 0.7×10-18 cm2 at 1.44 μm and 3.5×10-18 cm2 at 1.34 μm. Passively Q-switched operation of diode pumped 1.44 μm and 1.3 μm Nd:YAG lasers was demonstrated using this crystal as saturable absorber. Average output powers of 1.42 W (1.44 μm) and 1.56 W (1.34 μm) and pulse energies of 24 μJ (1.44 μm) and 25 μJ (1.34 μm) were observed, respectively. 3+ ions in CaWO4, LaSc3(BO3)4, and YLiF4 crystals are presented. The spectra were measured by a continuous-wave pump and probe technique. It is shown that ESA is a negligible loss mechanism in cw lasers emitting at 1.06 μm. A new strong erbium laser glass (SELG) based on a boro-alumo-phosphate composition is reported. We discuss the synthesis and chemical properties together with spectroscopic and thermo-mechanical data. The new glass composition shows excellent laser performance and withstands high-average power pump radiation. We present laser results at 1.54 μm from flashlamp and laser pumping. In tests with laser-diode pumped Q-switched Er-Yb microchip lasers, we have achieved up to 150 mW of average output power and generated 1.2 kW in peak power. The glasses of the composition 10ZnO-30ZnF2-60B2O3 doped with different concentrations of CoO were prepared. Differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) studies, optical absorption, photoluminescence and infrared spectra of these glasses have been carried out. DSC studies have indicated that the resistance of the glass against devitrification increases with the increase in the concentration of CoO. Optical absorption spectra have exhibited one octahedral band due to 4T1g(F)→2T1g(H) and two tetrahedral bands due to 4A2(4F)→4T1(4P) 4A2(4F)→4T1(4F) transitions of Co2+ ions at about 525, 570 and 1400 nm, respectively. As the concentration of CoO is increased the tetrahedral bands are observed to grow at the expense of octahedral band. The luminescence spectra have exhibited two emission bands in the spectral regions of 600-700 nm and 800-900 nm due to 4T1(4P)→4A2(4F) and 4T1(4P)→4T2(4F) tetrahedral transitions of Co2+ ions, respectively. With the increasing content of cobalt ions in the glass matrix, the half width and intensity of these bands are observed to increase. The analysis of the results of these two spectra coupled with IR spectra has indicated that as the concentration of CoO is increased in the glass matrix, the tetrahedral occupancy of cobalt ions dominates over the octahedral occupancy and increase the rigidity of the glass network.  相似文献

In this paper, the excitation spectrum and luminescence at 14 569, 17 225, 18 829 and 14 659 cm-1 for Fe3+ ion at the K+ site of KTaO3 crystals are assigned, respectively, to the 6A1(S)→4T1(G), 4T2(G), 4E1(G)[4A1(G)] and 4T1(G)→6A1(S) transitions rather than to the 6A1(S)→4T1(G), 2T2(I), 4T2(G) and 4T1(G)→6A1(S) transitions given in a previous paper [Bryknar et al., Radiat. Eff. Def. Solids 149(1999)51]. On the basis of this assignment, the reasonable optical spectrum parameters (in particular, the cubic field parameter Dq≈−640 cm−1) are obtained. 4 I13/2 and 4I11/2 of erbium is measured in a fluorozirconate fiber in the wavelength range 780–840 nm. Using a pump- and probe-beam technique and choosing the pump wavelength such that the perturbation by pump ESA is minimized in the measurement, it is possible to determine the effective ESA cross sections, despite the fact that the excitation is distributed among two metastable levels. The derived ESA cross sections at 793 nm of 1.4×10-21 cm2 from the 4I13/2 level and less than 0.1×10-21 cm2 from the 4I11/2 level are in reasonable agreement with former results obtained from a rate-equation simulation of the erbium 3-μm laser. The corresponding ESA spectrum under 3-μm lasing conditions is derived. At the strongest ground-state absorption around 799 nm, decreasing ESA from the 4I13/2 level is compensated by increasing ESA from the 4I11/2 level, i.e., ESA losses cannot be avoided when pumping around 800 nm. This result is of relevance for possible high-power diode pumping of an erbium 3-μm double-clad fiber laser. Received: 20 January 1998  相似文献

The optical properties of KZnF3:Co2+ were investigated by means of absorption and emission spectroscopy in the visible and infrared spectral region. This system is suitable for laseraction between the lowest 4T1(4F)-4T2(4F) Co2+ phonon sidebands. CW laseraction of more than 20 mW (85K) was observed at 1.95 μm when pumped with an Ar+-laser at 514 μm (1.5W). The system is at least tunable between 2.05 μm to 1.85 μm.  相似文献

The magneto-optical spectra of Co1+xFe2?xO4 show with increasing Co3+ content an increasing intensity of the 4A2 ? 4T1(F) and 4A2 ? 4T1(P) transition of Co2+ at 0.8 and 2.0 eV. A decrease in the Co2+-Fe3+ charge transfer transitions on octahedral sites is found. In the optical spectra a strong increase in optical absorption is found with dominant transitions at 0.8, 1.6 and 2.6 eV due to Co3+ crystal field transitions on octahedral sites and a Co2+-Co3+ charge transfer. Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectroscopy has been used to determine the cation distribution in the surface layer of the samples. The results indicate a shift of Co2+ from octahedral to tetrahedral sites when Co3+ is substituted in CoFe2O4. This results in enhanced optical absorption, enhanced magneto-optical effects and a lower Curie temperature.  相似文献

Spectral-luminescent properties of Eu2+ ions in alkaline earth dilithiosilicates of composition MLi2SiO4 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) have been studied at 77 K. The reasons for the different positions of the Eu2+ 4f 65 d → 4f 7 emission band maximum in spectra of MLi2SiO4 were found based on the obtained results. It was shown that the increase in the decay time of the Eu2+ emission on going from CaLi2SiO4 (0.41μs) through BaLi2SiO4 (0.64 μs) to Sr-silicate (1.11μs) correlates with the shift of the emission maximum to longer wavelengths.  相似文献

Electronic absorption and luminescence spectra and nonlinear optical properties of magnesium aluminosilicate glass-ceramics doped with divalent cobalt ions are studied in relation to their synthesis conditions. The lifetimes of the 4 T 1(4 P) and 4 T 1(4 F) excited levels of tetracoordinate Co2+ ions in these glass-ceramics are found to depend on the cobalt concentration and lie within the ranges from 25 to 40 and from 120 to 450 ns, respectively. Using the absorption saturation curves, the ground state absorption cross section for the wave-length of 1.54 μm is estimated to be σGSA=3.3×10?19cm2. The induced emission of the tetrahedrally coordinated Co2+ ion, which dominates over the absorption from the excited state in the spectral range from 640 to 690 nm (4 T 1(4 P)→4 A 2 transition), is found.  相似文献
