This paper investigates both homoclinic bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation which occur concurrently in a class of planar perturbed discontinuous systems of Filippov type. Firstly, based on a geometrical interpretation and a new analysis of the so-called successive function, sufficient conditions are proposed for the existence and stability of homoclinic orbit of unperturbed systems. Then, with the discussion about Poincaré map, bifurcation analyses of homoclinic orbit and parabolic–parabolic (PP) type pseudo-focus are presented. It is shown that two limit cycles can appear from the two different kinds of bifurcation in planar Filippov systems.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a novel congestion control algorithm, i.e., exponential RED algorithm, with communication delay. We derive some necessary and sufficient conditions ensuring Hopf bifurcation to occur for this model. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we demonstrated that Hopf bifurcation would occur when the delay exceeds a critical value. A formula for determining the bifurcation direction and stability of bifurcation periodic solutions is given by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical results are also provided.  相似文献

Pertussis (whooping cough) incidence in the United States has oscillated with a period of about four years since data was first collected in 1922. An infection with pertussis confers immunity for several years, but then the immunity wanes, so that reinfection is possible. A pertussis reinfection is mild after partial loss of immunity, but the reinfection can be severe after complete loss of immunity. Three pertussis transmission models with waning of immunity are examined for periodic solutions. Equilibria and their stability are determined. Hopf bifurcation of periodic solutions around the endemic equilibrium can occur for some parameter values in two of the models. Periods of about four years are found for epidemiologically reasonable parameter values in two of these models.  相似文献

The dynamics of a physiological control systems described by a first-order nonlinear delay differential equations are investigated. we proved that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occur at the positive equilibrium as the delay increases. Explicit algorithm for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcations and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are derived, using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Global existence of periodic solutions are established using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu [Symmetric functional differential equations and neural networks with memory, Trans. Amer. In this paper we study a family of models with delays describing the process of angiogenesis, that is a physiological process involving the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones. This family includes the well-known models of tumour angiogenesis proposed by Hahnfeldt et al. and d?Onofrio-Gandolfi and is based on the Gompertz type of the tumour growth. As a consequence we start our analysis from the influence of delay onto the Gompertz model dynamics. The family of models considered in this paper depends on two time delays and a parameter α∈[0,1] which reflects how strongly the vessels dynamics depends on the ratio between tumour and vessels volume. We focus on the analysis of the model in three cases: one of the delays is equal to 0 or both delays are equal, depending on the parameter α. We study the stability switches, the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of arising periodic orbits for different α∈[0,1], especially for α=1 and α=0 which reflects the Hahnfeldt et al. and the d?Onofrio-Gandolfi models. For comparison we use also the value α=1/2.  相似文献

We provide an analytical proof of the existence of a stable periodic orbit contained in the region of coexistence of the three species of a tritrophic chain. The method used consists in analyzing a triple Hopf bifurcation. For some values of the parameters three limit cycles born via this bifurcation. One is contained in the plane where the top-predator is absent. Another one is not contained in the domain of interest where all variables are positive. The third one is contained where the three species coexist. The techniques for proving these results have been introduced in previous articles by the second author and are based on the averaging theory of second-order. Existence of this triple Hopf bifurcation has been previously discovered numerically by Kooij et al.  相似文献

This paper deals with investigation into the stability analysis for transverse motions of a cantilever micro-beam, which is axially loaded due to a voltage applied to the piezoelectric layers located on the lower and upper surfaces of the micro-beam. The piezoelectric layers are pinned to the open end of the micro-beam and not bonded to it through its length. Application of the DC and AC piezoelectric actuations creates steady and time varying axial forces. The equation of the motion is derived using variational principal, and discretized using modal expansion theorem. The differential equations of the discretized model are a set of Mathieu type ODEs, whose stability analysis is performed using Floquet theory for multiple degree of freedom systems. Considering first two eigen-functions in the modal expansion theorem leads in the prediction of flutter type of instability as a consequence of Hopf bifurcation, which is not seen in the reduced single degree of freedom system. The object of the present study is to passively control the flutter instability in the proposed model by applying AC voltage with suitable amplitude and frequency to the piezoelectric layers. The effect of various parameters on the stability of the structure, including damping coefficient, amplitude of the DC and AC voltages, and the frequency of the applied AC voltage is studied.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamics of a spruce-budworm model with delay is investigated. We show that there exists Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium as the delay increases. In this paper, we investigated the Hopf bifurcation of the eXplicit Control Protocol (XCP) for the Internet congestion control system. These bifurcation behaviors may cause heavy oscillation of average queue length and induce network instability. A time-delayed feedback control method was proposed for controlling Hopf bifurcation in the XCP system. Numerical simulation results are presented to show that the time-delayed feedback controller is efficient in controlling Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献

with Neumann boundary condition. Sufficient conditions are provided for the global attractivity and oscillation of the equilibrium for Eq. (*), by using a new theorem we stated and proved. When P(t, χ) does not depend on a spatial variable χ ∈ Ω, these results are also true and extend or complement existing results. Finally, existence and stability of the Hopf bifurcation for Eq. In this paper we employ an equivariant Lyapunov-Schmidt procedure to give a clearer understanding of the one-to-one correspondence of the periodic solutions of a system of neutral functional differential equations with the zeros of the reduced bifurcation map, and then set up equivariant Hopf bifurcation theory. In the process we derive criteria for the existence and direction of branches of bifurcating periodic solutions in terms of the original system, avoiding the process of center manifold reduction.

In the machining process, unstable self-excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing excessive tool wear or failure, and a poor surface finish on the machined workpiece, hence the relevant measures must be taken to predict and avoid this phenomenon of instability. In this paper, we propose a weakly nonlinear model with square and cubic terms in both structural stiffness and regenerative terms, to represent self-excited vibrations in machining. It is proved that Hopf bifurcation exists when bifurcation parameter equals a critical value, a formula for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are given by using the normal form method and center manifold theorem. Numerical simulations show excellent agreement with the theoretical results.  相似文献

A generalized model of the two-neuron network with mixed delays is studied. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the linear stability of the trivial solution and Hopf bifurcation of a two-neuron network with continuous and discrete delays. In this paper, we analyze the stability and Hopf bifurcation of the biological economic system based on the new normal form and the Hopf bifurcation theorem. The basic model we consider is owed to a ratio-dependent predator-prey system with harvesting, compared with other researches on dynamics of predator-prey population, this system is described by differential-algebraic equations due to economic factor. Here μ as bifurcation parameter, it is found that periodic solutions arise from stable stationary states when the parameter μ increases close to a certain limit. Finally, numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness of our results.  相似文献
