The coercivity of a Co/Pt multilayer with out-of-plane anisotropy can be lowered greatly if it is grown onto an ultrathin NiO underlayer . By making use of this characteristic, a series of samples glass/NiO(10 Å)/[Co(4 Å)/Pt(5 Å)]3/Pt(x Å)/[Co(4 Å)/Pt(5 Å)]3 with different Pt spacer thickness have been prepared to determine the ferromagnetic (FM) coupling between Co layers across the Pt layer. The measurements of major and minor hysteresis loops have shown that the FM coupling between the top and bottom Co/Pt multilayers decreases monotonically with the Pt layer thickness and disappears above the Pt layer thickness of 40 Å. This thickness of 40 Å is much larger than that in the literature. In addition to the FM coupling between the top and bottom Co/Pt multilayers across the Pt spacer, there exists a weak biquadratic coupling, which induces the broad transition of the bottom Co/Pt multilayer.  相似文献

Pt/Co/Hf multilayers were prepared by magnetron sputtering, and the magnetic anisotropy was effectively regulated by Hf thickness and heat treatment in Pt/Co/Hf films. The interface microstructures were characterized. The influence of the interface microstructure on magnetic properties was studied. The results show that the magnetic anisotropy in Pt/Co/Hf films is closely related to the interface microstructure, which is influenced by Hf thickness and the heat treatment temperature. Microstructure analysis shows that after the Pt(3)/Co(1.5)/Hf(1) film is heat-treated, the CoOx content increases, more CoPt(111) forms, the interface is smoother and sharper, and the roughness of the Co/Hf interface decreases. Several factors work together to cause the magnetic anisotropy of the sample to change from in-plane magnetic anisotropy (IMA)to perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA).  相似文献

We report on magnetic domain-wall velocity measurements in ultrathin Pt/Co(0.5-0.8 nm)/Pt films with perpendicular anisotropy over a large range of applied magnetic fields. The complete velocity-field characteristics are obtained, enabling an examination of the transition between thermally activated creep and viscous flow: motion regimes predicted from general theories for driven elastic interfaces in weakly disordered media. The dissipation limited flow regime is found to be consistent with precessional domain-wall motion, analysis of which yields values for the damping parameter, alpha.  相似文献

采用直流磁控溅射法在玻璃基片上制备了Pt底层和MgO/Pt双底层的Co/Ni多层膜样品, 通过反常霍尔效应研究了不同MgO厚度和退火温度对样品垂直磁各向异性(perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, PMA)的影响. 随着底层中MgO厚度的逐渐增加, 样品的矫顽力也随之增强, 霍尔电阻变化不大; 对样品进行退火处理后发现, 单纯Pt底层的Co/Ni多层膜随着退火温度的升高, 霍尔电阻逐渐降低, 矫顽力则迅速降低, 热稳定性较差; 而当MgO/Pt双底层的样品在200 ℃退火后矫顽力大幅增加, 霍尔电阻略微有所减小, 更高的退火温度使得Co和Ni合金化, 导致多层膜的PMA特征减弱.  相似文献

采用磁控溅射方法制备了以Pt为缓冲层和保护层的具有垂直各向异性(Pt/Co)n/FeMn多层膜.研究结果表明,多层膜的垂直交换偏置场Hex和反铁磁层厚度的关系与其具有平面各向异性的交换偏置场随反铁磁层厚度变化趋势相近.随着铁磁层调制周期数的增加,垂直交换偏置场Hex相应减小,并且与铁磁层的调制周期数近似成反比关系.(Pt/Co)3/FeMn的垂直交换偏置场Hex已经达到22.3kA/m.为了进一步提高Hex,在Co/FeMn的界面插入Pt层,当Pt层厚度为0.4nm时,Hex达到最大值39.8kA/m.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Co/Pt multilayers grown by ion beam and DC magnetron sputtering techniques are compared. For Pt/Co/Pt films the spin reorientation as a function of Co thickness is investigated in second-order uniaxial anisotropy approximation. The influence of the growth technique on the interface and volume contribution to the first-order anisotropy is investigated. We have experimentally demonstrated circular polarization generation from linear polarized soft X-ray at synchrotron by adopting a thin magnetic film polarizer. Polarizer is composed of Co/Pt multilayer with a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, which allows us to easily accommodate without needing any tilting angle into the measurement setup since the circular polarization is generated for the X-ray with normal incidence and transmission. Generated circular polarization is examined by observing magnetic domain features based on the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism, where ∼11% of circular component is estimated compared to the case of full circular polarization.  相似文献

Interlayer exchange coupling that oscillates between antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic as a function of NiO thickness has been observed in [Pt(5 A)/Co(4 A)](3)/NiO(t(NiO) A)/[Co(4 A)/Pt(5 A)](3) multilayers with out-of-plane anisotropy. The period of oscillation corresponds to approximately 2 monolayers of NiO. This oscillatory behavior is possibly attributed to the antiferromagnetic ordering in NiO. The antiferromagnetic interlayer exchange coupling for the 11 A NiO layer shows an increase in coupling strength with increasing temperature, in agreement with the quantum interference model of Bruno for insulating spacer layers. A coexistence of exchange biasing and antiferromagnetic interlayer exchange coupling has been observed below T=250 K.  相似文献

We present preliminary results for magnetization dynamics in high perpendicular anisotropy Co/Pt cross-shaped nanostructures submitted to a single/train out-of-plane field pulses. For this, a fabrication process has been developed to obtain high-quality microwave test structures. Using extraordinary Hall effect, we measure quasistatic hysteresis loops while applying either a single or a train of field pulses of given amplitude (32 mT at maximum), variable duration (0.2–10 ns) and repetition frequency (1–100 kHz). We get that field pulses affect only one side of the hysteresis loops without any clear change in the squareness of the loop. Such behavior can be most probably attributed to pulse-induced nucleation of reverse domains in the cross area. The measured shift in coercive field decreases linearly with the logarithm of the pulse duration and two switching regimes that get connected for pulse duration around 1 ns have been observed. Switching probability with single pulse showed that field pulse of 10 ns and 32 mT of magnitude has the same effect of 2 mT static fields.  相似文献

We demonstrate that radio frequency(RF)magnetron sputtering technique can modify the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy(PMA)of Pt/Co/normal metal(NM)thin films.Influence of ion irradiation during RF magnetron sputtering should not be neglected and it can weaken PMA of the deposited magnetic films.The magnitude of this influence can be controlled by tuning RF magnetron sputtering deposition conditions and the upper NM layer thickness.According to the stopping and range of ions in matter(SRIM)simulation results,defects such as displacement atoms and vacancies in the deposited film will increase after the RF magnetron sputtering,which can account for the weakness of PMA.The amplitude changes of the Hall resistance and the threshold current intensity of spin orbit torque(SOT)induced magnetization switching also can be modified.Our study could be useful for controlling magnetic properties of PMA films and designing new type of SOT-based spintronic devices.  相似文献

We have comprehensively investigated asymmetric magnetization reversal behaviors of (x-Å Co/7.7 Å Pt)5 multilayers (x = 3.1 and 4.7) with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Our direct observation of magnetic domain structures by means of magneto-optical microscopy reveals that the asymmetry arises both from nucleation and wall-motion processes. An asymmetric nucleation behavior is observed, which could be originated from the preexisting non-reversed domains which might have a reproducible or random spatial distribution, controllable by tuning the field profile. An asymmetric wall-motion behavior stemming from asymmetric stripe domain evolution is also observed.  相似文献

We report on an effect of reduced dimensionality on the magnetotransport in cobalt layers sandwiched by platinum. In a current in-plane geometry it is found that the resistivity depends on the magnetization orientation within the plane perpendicular to the current direction. The resistivity shows a symmetry adapted cos(2) dependence on the angle to the surface normal, with the maximum along the surface normal. The Co thickness dependence of the effect in Pt/Co/Pt sandwiches clearly points out that the mechanism behind this effect originates at the Co/Pt interfaces and is disparate to the texture induced geometrical size effect.  相似文献

We present a detailed study of the magnetization reversal in perpendicularly magnetized (Pt/Co)3 multilayers with different values of the platinum interlayer thickness tPt. To study the magnetization reversal in our samples we combined measurements of relaxation curves with the direct visualization of domain structures. Magnetization reversal was dominated by domain wall propagation for tPt=1 nm and by domain nucleation for tPt=0.2 nm, while a mixed process was observed for tPt=0.8 nm. We interpret our results within the framework of a model of thermally activated reversal where a distribution of activation energy barriers is taken into account. The reversal process was correlated with the energy barrier distribution.  相似文献

We have studied the field-driven motion of a pair of coupled Bloch domain walls in a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy Pt/Co/Pt/Co/Pt multilayer Hall bar. The nucleation of an isolated but coincident pair of walls in the two Co layers, observed by Kerr microscopy, took place at an artificial nucleation site created by Ga+ ion irradiation. The average velocity v of the wall motion was calculated from time-resolved magnetotransport measurements at fixed driving field H, where the influence of the extraordinary Hall effect leads to the observation of voltages at the longitudinal resistance probes. We observed a good fit to the scaling relation lnvH−1/4, consistent the motion of a single 1-dimensional wall moving in a 2-dimensional disordered medium in the creep regime: the two walls are coupled together into a 1-dimensional composite object.  相似文献

Magnetic relaxation measurements were carried out by magneto-optical Kerr effect on exchange biased (Pt/Co)5/Pt/FeMn multilayers with perpendicular anisotropy. In these films the coercivity and the exchange bias field vary with Pt spacer thickness, and have a maximum for 0.2 nm. Hysteresis loops do not reveal important differences between the reversal for ascending and descending fields. Relaxation measurements were fitted using Fatuzzo’s model, which assumes that reversal occurs by domain nucleation and domain wall propagation. For 2 nm thick Pt spacer (no exchange bias) the reversal is dominated by domain wall propagation starting from a few nucleation centers. For 0.2 nm Pt spacer (maximum exchange bias) the reversal is strongly dominated by nucleation, and no differences between the behaviour of the ascending and descending branches can be observed. For 0.4 nm Pt spacer (weaker exchange bias) the nucleation density becomes less important, and the measurements reveal a much stronger density of nucleation centers in the descending branch.  相似文献

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and thermal stability of Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5 (CFAS)/Pt multilayer structure prepared by dc magnetron sputtering have been studied. It is found that the strength of PMA depends on the thickness of CFAS layer, and the maximum effective thickness of CFAS with PMA is demonstrated to be about 1.5 nm. The interfacial anisotropy energy K s is estimated to be 0.45 erg/cm2, which is larger than those of Co/Pd and Co/Ni multilayers and responsible for the strong PMA of the CFAS/Pt multilayer. The annealing treatments will give rise to the loss of PMA of CFAS/Pt multilayer and has the relatively less influence with large period number N. With the increasing of the period number N, the CFAS/Pt multilayers tend to have wasp-waist-shaped easy-axis hysteresis loops and multidomain structures.  相似文献
