This paper introduces a new concept of exceptional family of elements (abbreviated, exceptional family) for a finite-dimensional nonlinear variational inequality problem. By using this new concept, we establish a general sufficient condition for the existence of a solution to the problem. Such a condition is used to develop several new existence theorems. Among other things, a sufficient and necessary condition for the solvability of pseudo-monotone variational inequality problem is proved. The notion of coercivity of a function and related classical existence theorems for variational inequality are also generalized. Finally, a solution condition for a class of nonlinear complementarity problems with so-called P * -mappings is also obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for g under which Jensen’s inequality holds for g-expectation. In particular, we show that if Jensen’s inequality holds for g-expectation, then g is independent of y and g is superhomogeneous. We also establish a necessary and sufficient condition under which Jensen’s inequality holds for a general filtration-consistent nonlinear expectation. Received: 18 January 2005  相似文献

The aim of this short note is to give an alternative proof, which applies to functions of bounded variation in arbitrary domains, of an inequality by Maz'ya that improves Friedrichs inequality. A remarkable feature of such a proof is that it is rather elementary, if the basic background in the theory of functions of bounded variation is assumed. Nevertheless, it allows to extend all the previously known versions of this fundamental inequality to a completely general version. In fact the inequality presented here is optimal in several respects. As already observed in previous proofs, the crucial step is to provide conditions under which a function of bounded variation on a bounded open set, extended to zero outside, has bounded variation on the whole space. We push such conditions to their limits. In fact, we give a sufficient and necessary condition if the open set has a boundary with σ‐finite surface measure and a sufficient condition if the open set is fully arbitrary. Via a counterexample we show that such a general sufficient condition is sharp.  相似文献

The super efficiency of a vector variational inequality is considered in this paper. We show that for both the single and multiple criteria cases, a network equilibrium model can be recast as super efficient solutions to a kind of variational inequality. For the network equilibrium model with a vector-valued cost function, we derive the necessary and sufficient condition in terms of the super efficiency of a vector variational inequality by using the Gerstewitz’s function without any convex assumptions.  相似文献

By estimating the intrinsic distance and using known heat kernel upper bounds, the global Nash inequality with exact dimension is established for a class of square fields with algebraic growth induced by vector fields satisfying the Hörmander condition. As an application, a sufficient condition is presented for the log-Sobolev inequality to hold. Typical examples for Gruschin type operators and generalized Kohn-Lapacians on Heisenberg groups are provided.  相似文献

Reaction–diffusion systems are widely used to describespatio-temporal phenomena in a variety of scientific fields,including population ecology. In this paper, I demonstrate thatexisting results for coexistence and permanence of general Lotka–Volterrasystems with absorbing boundaries can be applied in a complementarymanner to address a variety of boundary conditions, includingthe insulating problem. Furthermore, the condition is applicableeven to systems containing positive feedback mechanisms in thedynamics. A single (vector) inequality, the first iterate condition,is derived which serves as a sufficient condition for coexistence,permanence and resilience. Additionally, I demonstrate thatthis inequality condition is but the first in a series of conditionsthat can be used to describe the behaviour of such systems.Finally, I provide a comparison between the iterate conditionsand an alternative test for solution resiliency.  相似文献

In recent years second-order sufficient conditions of an isolated local minimizer for convex composite optimization problems have been established. In this paper, second-order optimality conditions are obtained of aglobal minimizer for convex composite problems with a non-finite valued convex function and a twice strictly differentiable function by introducing a generalized representation condition. This result is applied to a minimization problem with a closed convex set constraint which is shown to satisfy the basic constraint qualification. In particular, second-order necessary and sufficient conditions of a solution for a variational inequality problem with convex composite inequality constraints are obtained. © 1998 The Mathematical Programming Society, Inc. In this paper, we study a generalized weak vector variational inequality, which is a generalization of a weak vector variational inequality and a Minty weak vector variational inequality. By virtue of a contingent derivative and a Φ-contingent cone, we investigate differential properties of a class of set-valued maps and obtain an explicit expression of its contingent derivative. We also establish some necessary optimality conditions for solutions of the generalized weak vector variational inequality, which generalize the corresponding results in the literature. Furthermore, we establish some unified necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for local optimal solutions of the generalized weak vector variational inequality. Simultaneously, we also show that there is no gap between the necessary and sufficient conditions under an appropriate condition.  相似文献

本文首先在Banach空间中证明了零调集值映射的一个Leray-Schauder型不动点定理,然后在Hilbert空间中定义了零调集值映射的变分不等式的例外簇,利用本文给出的不动点定理给出了无界集上的变分不等式问题存在解的一个充分条件.此条件弱于许多已知的关于变分不等式问题的解的存在性条件,并由此得到Hilbert空间中几个变分不等式约解的存在性定理.  相似文献

In this paper, the exponential stability of singularly perturbed impulsive delay differential equations (SPIDDEs) is concerned. We first establish a delay differential inequality, which is useful to deal with the stability of SPIDDEs, and then by the obtained inequality, a sufficient condition is provided to ensure that any solution of SPIDDEs is exponentially stable for sufficiently small ε>0. A numerical example and the simulation result show the effectiveness of our theoretical result.  相似文献

The Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) system of the variational inequality problem over a set defined by inequality and equality constraints can be reformulated as a system of semismooth equations via an nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) function. We give a sufficient condition for boundedness of the level sets of the norm function of this system of semismooth equations when the NCP function is metrically equivalent to the minimum function; and a sufficient and necessary condition when the NCP function is the minimum function. Nonsingularity properties identified by Facchinei, Fischer and Kanzow, 1998, SIAM J. Optim. 8, 850–869, for the semismooth reformulation of the variational inequality problem via the Fischer-Burmeister function, which is an irrational regular pseudo-smooth NCP function, hold for the reformulation based on other regular pseudo-smooth NCP functions. We propose a new regular pseudo-smooth NCP function, which is piecewise linear-rational and metrically equivalent to the minimum NCP function. When it is used to the generalized Newton method for solving the variational inequality problem, an auxiliary step can be added to each iteration to reduce the value of the merit function by adjusting the Lagrangian multipliers only. In the first part of this article optimization of polyhedral discrete and differential inclusions is considered, the problem is reduced to convex minimization problem and the necessary and sufficient condition for optimality is derived. The optimality conditions for polyhedral differential inclusions based on discrete-approximation problem according to continuous problems are formulated. In particular, boundedness of the set of adjoint discrete solutions and upper semi-continuity of the locally adjoint mapping are proved. In the second part of this article an optimization problem described by convex inequality constraint is studied. By using the equivalence theorem concerning the subdifferential calculus and approximating method necessary and sufficient condition for discrete-approximation problem with inequality constraint is established.  相似文献

In this paper several types of perturbations on a convex inequality system are considered, and conditions are obtained for the system to be well-conditioned under these types of perturbations, where the well-conditionedness of a convex inequality system is defined in terms of the uniform boundedness of condition numbers under a set of perturbations. It is shown that certain types of perturbations can be used to characterize the well-conditionedness of a convex inequality system, in which either the system has a bounded solution set and satisfies the Slater condition or an associated convex inequality system, which defines the recession cone of the solution set for the system, satisfies the Slater condition. Finally, sufficient conditions are given for the existence of a global error bound for an analytic system. It is shown that such a global error bound always holds for any inequality system defined by finitely many convex analytic functions when the zero vector is in the relative interior of the domain of an associated convex conjugate function.  相似文献
