We prove the equivalence of Hardy- and Sobolev-type inequalities, certain uniform bounds on the heat kernel and some spectral regularity properties of the Neumann Laplacian associated with an arbitrary region of finite measure in Euclidean space. We also prove that if one perturbs the boundary of the region within a uniform Hölder category, then the eigenvalues of the Neumann Laplacian change by a small and explicitly estimated amount.  相似文献

We study Schrödinger operators on RR with measures as potentials. Choosing a suitable subset of measures we can work with a dynamical system consisting of measures. We then relate properties of this dynamical system with spectral properties of the associated operators. The constant spectrum in the strictly ergodic case coincides with the union of the zeros of the Lyapunov exponent and the set of non-uniformities of the transfer matrices. This result enables us to prove Cantor spectra of zero Lebesgue measure for a large class of operator families, including many operator families generated by aperiodic subshifts.  相似文献

In this note, we prove a harmonic-type maximal principle for the Schur parametrization of all contractive interpolants in the three chains completion problem (see [4]), which is analogous to the maximal principle proven in [2] in case of the Schur parametrization of all contractive intertwining liftings in the commutant lifting theorem.  相似文献

We prove the global-in-time Strichartz estimates for wave equations on the nontrapping asymptotically conic manifolds. We obtain estimates for the full set of wave admissible indices, including the endpoint. The key points are the properties of the microlocalized spectral measure of Laplacian on this setting showed in [18] and a Littlewood–Paley squarefunction estimate. As applications, we prove the global existence and scattering for a family of nonlinear wave equations on this setting.  相似文献

In this paper we study the Hilbert scales defined by the associated Legendre functions for arbitrary integer values of the parameter. This problem is equivalent to studying the left-definite spectral theory associated to the modified Legendre equation. We give several characterizations of the spaces as weighted Sobolev spaces and prove identities among the spaces corresponding to the lower regularity index.  相似文献

We give an interpolation-free proof of the known fact that a dyadic paraproduct is of Schatten-von Neumann class Sp, if and only if its symbol is in the dyadic Besov space Bpd. Our main tools are a product formula for paraproducts and a “p-John-Nirenberg-Theorem” due to Rochberg and Semmes.We use the same technique to prove a corresponding result for dyadic paraproducts with operator symbols.Using an averaging technique by Petermichl, we retrieve Peller's characterizations of scalar and vector Hankel operators of Schatten-von Neumann class Sp for 1<p<∞. We then employ vector techniques to characterise little Hankel operators of Schatten-von Neumann class, answering a question by Bonami and Peloso.Furthermore, using a bilinear version of our product formula, we obtain characterizations for boundedness, compactness and Schatten class membership of products of dyadic paraproducts.  相似文献

In this paper we describe the asymptotic behaviour of the spectral norm of the product of two finite Toeplitz matrices as the matrix dimension goes to infinity. These Toeplitz matrices are generated by functions with Fisher–Hartwig singularities of negative order. If these functions are positives the product of the two matrices has positive eigenvalues and it is known that the spectral norm is also the largest eigenvalue of this product.  相似文献

Let S be a band in Z2 bordered by two parallel lines that are of equal distance to the origin. Given a positive definite 1 sequence of matrices {cj}jS we prove that there is a positive definite matrix function f in the Wiener algebra on the bitorus such that the Fourier coefficients equal ck for k S. A parameterization is obtained for the set of all positive extensions f of {cj}jS. We also prove that among all matrix functions with these properties, there exists a distinguished one that maximizes the entropy. A formula is given for this distinguished matrix function. The results are interpreted in the context of spectral estimation of ARMA processes.  相似文献

We prove a stability theorem for the eigenvalues of general non-negative self-adjoint linear operators with compact resolvents and by applying it we prove a sharp stability result for the dependence of the eigenvalues of second order uniformly elliptic linear operators with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions upon domain perturbation.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to the study of specific properties of Toeplitz operators with (unbounded, in general) radial symbolsa=a(r). Boundedness and compactness conditions, as well as examples, are given. It turns out that there exist non-zero symbols which generate zero Toeplitz operators. We characterize such symbols, as well as the class of symbols for whichT a =0 impliesa(r)=0 a.e. For each compact setM there exists a Toeplitz operatorT a such that spT a =ess-spT a =M. We show that the set of symbols which generate bounded Toeplitz operators no longer forms an algebra under pointwise multiplication.Besides the algebra of Toeplitz operators we consider the algebra of Weyl pseudodifferential operators obtained from Toeplitz ones by means of the Bargmann transform. We prove two-weight norm inequalities for Calderón-Zygmund singular integrals that are sharp for the Hilbert transform and for the Riesz transforms. In addition, we give results for the dyadic square function and for commutators of singular integrals. As an application we give new results for the Sarason conjecture on the product of unbounded Toeplitz operators on Hardy spaces.  相似文献

We completely classify all Toeplitz and Hankel operators which commute; namely, we prove that that a non-trivial Hankel operator and a non-trivial Toeplitz operator commute if and only if the Hankel operator has symbolz, where is the symbol of the Toeplitz operator, and is an affine function of the characteristic function of certain anti-symmetric sets of the unit circle.  相似文献

Let A be an operator subalgebra in B(H), where H is a Hilbert space. We say that an element ZA is an all-derivable point of A for the norm-topology (strongly operator topology, etc.) if, every norm-topology (strongly operator topology, etc.) continuous derivable linear mapping φ at Z (i.e. φ(ST)=φ(S)T+Sφ(T) for any S,TA with ST=Z) is a derivation. In this paper, we show that every invertible operator in the nest algebra is an all-derivable point of the nest algebra for the strongly operator topology. We also prove that every nonzero element of the algebra of all 2×2 upper triangular matrixes is an all-derivable point of the algebra.  相似文献

In a planar infinite strip with a fast oscillating boundary we consider an elliptic operator assuming that both the period and the amplitude of the oscillations are small. On the oscillating boundary we impose Dirichlet, Neumann or Robin boundary condition. In all cases we describe the homogenized operator, establish the uniform resolvent convergence of the perturbed resolvent to the homogenized one, and prove the estimates for the rate of convergence. These results are obtained as the order of the amplitude of the oscillations is less, equal or greater than that of the period. It is shown that under the homogenization the type of the boundary condition can change.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of Lp-maximal regularity for second order Cauchy problems. We prove Lp-maximal regularity for an abstract model problem and we apply the abstract results to prove existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions for nonlinear wave equations. Here we prove a Hardy-type inequality in the upper half-space which generalize an inequality originally proved by Maz’ya (Sobolev Spaces, Springer, Berlin, 1985, p. 99). For the unilateral shift operator U on the Hardy space H2(T), we describe conditions on operators T, acting on H2(T), that are necessary and sufficient for the pair (U, T) to be jointly hyponormal. One necessary condition is that T be a Toeplitz operator. In this paper we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the nonlinear Cahn–Hilliard equation with a logarithmic free energy and similar singular free energies. We prove an existence and uniqueness result with the help of monotone operator methods, which differs from the known proofs based on approximation by smooth potentials. Moreover, we apply the Lojasiewicz–Simon inequality to show that each solution converges to a steady state as time tends to infinity.  相似文献
