Lot-sizing with production and delivery time windows   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We study two different lot-sizing problems with time windows that have been proposed recently. For the case of production time windows, in which each client specific order must be produced within a given time interval, we derive tight extended formulations for both the constant capacity and uncapacitated problems with Wagner-Whitin (non-speculative) costs. For the variant with nonspecific orders, known to be equivalent to the problem in which the time windows can be ordered by time, we also show equivalence to the basic lot-sizing problem with upper bounds on the stocks. Here we derive polynomial time dynamic programming algorithms and tight extended formulations for the uncapacitated and constant capacity problems with general costs. For the problem with delivery time windows, we use a similar approach to derive tight extended formulations for both the constant capacity and uncapacitated problems with Wagner-Whitin (non-speculative) costs. We consider two formulations of a stochastic uncapacitated lot-sizing problem. We show that by adding (?,S) inequalities to the one with the smaller number of variables, both formulations give the same LP bound. Then we show that for two-period problems, adding another class of inequalities gives the convex hull of integral solutions.  相似文献

We consider a production planning problem for two items where the high quality item can substitute the demand for the low quality item. Given the number of periods, the demands, the production, inventory holding, setup and substitution costs, the problem is to find a minimum cost production and substitution plan. This problem generalizes the well-known uncapacitated lot-sizing problem. We study the projection of the feasible set onto the space of production and setup variables and derive a family of facet defining inequalities for the associated convex hull. We prove that these inequalities together with the trivial facet defining inequalities describe the convex hull of the projection if the number of periods is two. We present the results of a computational study and discuss the quality of the bounds given by the linear programming relaxation of the model strengthened with these facet defining inequalities for larger number of periods.  相似文献

We consider a lot sizing problem with setup times where the objective is to minimize the total inventory carrying cost only. The demand is dynamic over time and there is a single resource of limited capacity. We show that the approaches implemented in the literature for more general versions of the problem do not perform well in this case. We examine the Lagrangean relaxation (LR) of demand constraints in a strong reformulation of the problem. We then design a primal heuristic to generate upper bounds and combine it with the LR problem within a subgradient optimization procedure. We also develop a simple branch and bound heuristic to solve the problem. Computational results on test problems taken from the literature show that our relaxation procedure produces consistently better solutions than the previously developed heuristics in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a nonstationary periodic review dynamic production–inventory model with uncertain production capacity and uncertain demand. The maximum production capacity varies stochastically. It is known that order up-to (or base-stock, critical number) policies are optimal for both finite horizon problems and infinite horizon problems. We obtain upper and lower bounds of the optimal order up-to levels, and show that for an infinite horizon problem the upper and the lower bounds of the optimal order up-to levels for the finite horizon counterparts converge as the planning horizons considered get longer. Furthermore, under mild conditions the differences between the upper and the lower bounds converge exponentially to zero.

This study addresses an allocation problem that arises in the semiconductor industry and flexible manufacturing systems where the tools should be loaded on computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines to process a number of operations. The time and tool magazine capacities of the CNC machines and the number of available tools of each type are limited. The objective is to maximize the total weight of operation assignments. We present a mixed integer programming formulation of the problem and show that the problem is NP-hard in the strong sense. We show that the linear programming relaxation upper bound dominates the best possible Lagrangean relaxation upper bound. We develop several lower bounding procedures and a lower bounding procedure using Lagrangean relaxation approach. Our computational results show that the upper and lower bounding procedures produce near-optimal solutions in reasonable times.  相似文献

We address the problem of designing a multi-layer network with survivability requirements. We are given a two-layer network: the lower layer represents the potential physical connections that can be activated, the upper layer is made of logical connections that can be set up using physical links. We are given origin-destination demands (commodities) to be routed at the upper layer. We are also given a set of failure scenarios and, for every scenario, an associated subset of commodities. The goal is to install minimum cost integer capacities on the links of both layers in order to ensure that the commodities can be routed simultaneously on the network. In addition, in every failure scenario the routing of the associated commodities must be guaranteed. We consider two variants of the problem and develop a branch-and-cut scheme based on the capacity formulation. Computational results on instances derived from the SNDLib for single node failure scenarios are discussed.  相似文献

In this article, we consider two classes of discrete bilevel optimization problems which have the peculiarity that the lower level variables do not affect the upper level constraints. In the first case, the objective functions are linear and the variables are discrete at both levels, and in the second case only the lower level variables are discrete and the objective function of the lower level is linear while the one of the upper level can be nonlinear. Algorithms for computing global optimal solutions using Branch and Cut and approximation of the optimal value function of the lower level are suggested. Their convergence is shown and we illustrate each algorithm via an example.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the quadratic knapsack problem which consists in maximizing a positive quadratic pseudo-Boolean function subject to a linear capacity constraint. We propose a new method for computing an upper bound. This method is based on the solution of a continuous linear program constructed by adding to a classical linearization of the problem some constraints rebundant in 0–1 variables but nonredundant in continuous variables. The obtained upper bound is better than the bounds given by other known methods. We also propose an algorithm for computing a good feasible solution. This algorithm is an elaboration of the heuristic methods proposed by Chaillou, Hansen and Mahieu and by Gallo, Hammer and Simeone. The relative error between this feasible solution and the optimum solution is generally less than 1%. We show how these upper and lower bounds can be efficiently used to determine the values of some variables at the optimum. Finally we propose a branch-and-bound algorithm for solving the quadratic knapsack problem and report extensive computational tests.  相似文献

Several algorithms already exist for solving the uncapacitated facility location problem. The most efficient are based upon the solution of the strong linear programming relaxation. The dual of this relaxation has a condensed form which consists of minimizing a certain piecewise linear convex function. This paper presents a new method for solving the uncapacitated facility location problem based upon the exact solution of the condensed dual via orthogonal projections. The amount of work per iteration is of the same order as that of a simplex iteration for a linear program inm variables and constraints, wherem is the number of clients. For comparison, the underlying linear programming dual hasmn + m + n variables andmn +n constraints, wheren is the number of potential locations for the facilities. The method is flexible as it can handle side constraints. In particular, when there is a duality gap, the linear programming formulation can be strengthened by adding cuts. Numerical results for some classical test problems are included.  相似文献

We consider a semilinear Neumann problem with a reaction which is resonant at both zero and ±∞. Using a combination of methods from critical point theory, together with truncation techniques, the use of upper–lower solutions and of the Morse theory (critical groups), we show that the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four of which have constant sign (two positive and two negative).  相似文献

We consider the 1.52-approximation algorithm of Mahdian et al. for the metric uncapacitated facility location problem. We show that their algorithm does not close the gap with the lower bound on approximability, 1.463, by providing a construction of instances for which its approximation ratio is not better than 1.494.  相似文献

We consider the problem of computing upper and lower bounds on the price of an European basket call option, given prices on other similar options. Although this problem is hard to solve exactly in the general case, we show that in some instances the upper and lower bounds can be computed via simple closed-form expressions, or linear programs. We also introduce an efficient linear programming relaxation of the general problem based on an integral transform interpretation of the call price function. We show that this relaxation is tight in some of the special cases examined before.  相似文献

We study approaches for obtaining convex relaxations of global optimization problems containing multilinear functions. Specifically, we compare the concave and convex envelopes of these functions with the relaxations that are obtained with a standard relaxation approach, due to McCormick. The standard approach reformulates the problem to contain only bilinear terms and then relaxes each term independently. We show that for a multilinear function having a single product term, this approach yields the convex and concave envelopes if the bounds on all variables are symmetric around zero. We then review and extend some results on conditions when the concave envelope of a multilinear function can be written as a sum of concave envelopes of its individual terms. Finally, for bilinear functions we prove that the difference between the concave upper bounding and convex lower bounding functions obtained from the McCormick relaxation approach is always within a constant of the difference between the concave and convex envelopes. These results, along with numerical examples we provide, give insight into how to construct strong relaxations of multilinear functions.  相似文献

We consider the capacitated lot sizing problem with multiple items, setup time and unrelated parallel machines. The aim of the article is to develop a Lagrangian heuristic to obtain good solutions to this problem and good lower bounds to certify the quality of solutions. Based on a strong reformulation of the problem as a shortest path problem, the Lagrangian relaxation is applied to the demand constraints (flow constraint) and the relaxed problem is decomposed per period and per machine. The subgradient optimization method is used to update the Lagrangian multipliers. A primal heuristic, based on transfers of production, is designed to generate feasible solutions (upper bounds). Computational results using data from the literature are presented and show that our method is efficient, produces lower bounds of good quality and competitive upper bounds, when compared with the bounds produced by another method from the literature and by high-performance MIP software.  相似文献
