Summary A snapback repeller of an analytic mapping is defined as a full orbit which tends to an unstable fixed point backwards in time and snaps back to the same fixed point. This note gives a rather elementary proof that unstable periodic orbits accumulate near snapback repellers. The proof is entirely selfcontained and uses only standard elementary tools. We exploit that the global semiconjugacy of the entire analytic map to a linear map is itself an entire analytic function and apply the Theorem of Rouché to its zeros. We also generalize Marotto's result about the chaotic motion near a snapback repeller to include the degenerate case.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce an iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of solutions of the variational inequality for an inverse-strongly monotone mapping in a Hilbert space. Then we show that the sequence converges strongly to a common element of two sets. Using this result, we consider the problem of finding a common fixed point of a nonexpansive mapping and a strictly pseudocontractive mapping and the problem of finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of zeros of an inverse-strongly monotone mapping.  相似文献

In [EH89, Theorem 1] Ekeland-Hofer prove that for a centrally symmetric, restricted contact type hypersurface in ℝ2n and for any global, centrally symmetric Hamiltonian perturbation there exists a leaf-wise intersection point. In this note we show that if we replace restricted contact type by star-shaped, there exist infinitely many leaf-wise intersection points or a leaf-wise intersection point on a closed characteristic.  相似文献

We study the local analytic classification of Fuchsian singular points. The resonance formal normal form (FNF) of a system with a Fuchsian singular point, as well as the local analytic equivalence of a system to its resonance FNF, is well known. However, there are distinct resonance FNFs locally analytically equivalent to each other. The main theorem of the paper reduces the problem of local analytic equivalence of resonance FNFs to a problem about conjugacy of certain matrices associated to two FNFs (which are nil-triangular) by a block upper triangular matrix. As a consequence, the local analytic classification of Fuchsian singular points reduces to the study of the orbits of the group of block upper triangular matrices on nil-triangular matrices by conjugation.  相似文献

In this article we study the topology of Anosov flows in 3-manifolds. Specifically we consider the lifts to the universal cover of the stable and unstable foliations and analyze the leaf spaces of these foliations. We completely determine the structure of the non Hausdorff points in these leaf spaces. There are many consequences: (1) when the leaf spaces are non Hausdorff, there are closed orbits in the manifold which are freely homotopic, (2) suspension Anosov flows are, up to topological conjugacy, the only Anosov flows without free homotopies between closed orbits, (3) when there are infinitely many stable leaves (in the universal cover) which are non separated from each other, then we produce a torus in the manifold which is transverse to the Anosov flow and therefore is incompressible, (4) we produce non Hausdorff examples in hyperbolic manifolds and derive important properties of the limit sets of the stable/unstable leaves in the universal cover. We consider strongly monotone continuous planar vector fields with a finite number of fixed points. The fixed points fall into three classes, attractors, repellers and saddles. Naturally, the relative positions of the fixed points must obey a set of restrictions imposed by monotonicity. The study of these restrictions is the main goal of the paper. With any given vector field, we associate a matrix describing the arrangement of the fixed points on the plane. We then use these matrices to formulate simple necessary and sufficient conditions which allow one to determine whether a finite set of attractors, repellers and saddles at given positions on the plane can be realized as the fixed point set of a strongly monotone vector field.  相似文献

V. I. Arnold proved in 1993 that the intersection multiplicity between two germs of analytic subvarieties at a fixed point of a holomorphic invertible self-map remains bounded when one of the germs is dragged by iterations of the self-map. The proof is based on the Skolem-Mahler-Lech theorem on zeros in recurrent sequences. We give a different proof, based on the Noetherianity of certain algebras, which allows one to generalize Arnold’s theorem for local actions of arbitrary finitely generated commutative groups, with both discrete and infinitesimal generators. Simple examples show that for non-commutative groups the analogous assertion fails.  相似文献

Combining the amplifiers, we exhibit other choices of coefficients that improve the results on large gaps between the zeros of the Riemann zeta-function. Precisely, assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH), we show that there exist infinitely many consecutive gaps greater than 3.033 times the average spacing.  相似文献

Using this result, we consider the problem of finding a common fixed point of a finite family of nonexpansive mappings and a strictly pseudocontractive mapping and the problem of finding a common element of the set of common fixed points of a finite family of nonexpansive mappings and the set of zeros of an inverse-strongly monotone mapping. Recently, O’Hara, Pillay and Xu (Nonlinear Anal. 54, 1417–1426, 2003) considered an iterative approach to finding a nearest common fixed point of infinitely many nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space. Very recently, Takahashi and Takahashi (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 331, 506–515, 2007) introduced an iterative scheme by the viscosity approximation method for finding a common element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem and the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping in a Hilbert space. In this paper, motivated by these authors’ iterative schemes, we introduce a new iterative approach to finding a common element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem and the set of common fixed points of infinitely many nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space. The main result of this work is a strong convergence theorem which improves and extends results from the above mentioned papers.  相似文献

The Rankin-Selberg convolution is usually normalized by the multiplication of a zeta factor. One naturally expects that the non-normalized convolution will have poles where the zeta factor has zeros, and that these poles will have the same order as the zeros of the zeta factor. However, this will only happen if the normalized convolution does not vanish at the zeros of the zeta factor. In this paper, we prove that given any point inside the critical strip, which is not equal to and is not a zero of the Riemann zeta function, there exist infinitely many cusp forms whose normalized convolutions do not vanish at that point.

We obtain existence and multiplicity results for the solutions of a class of coupled semilinear bi-harmonic Schrödinger equations. Actually, using the classical Mountain Pass Theorem and minimization techniques, we prove the existence of critical points of the associated functional constrained on the Nehari manifold.Furthermore, we show that using the so-called fibering method and the Lusternik–Schnirel’man theory there exist infinitely many solutions, actually a countable family of critical points, for such a semilinear bi-harmonic Schrödinger system under study in this work.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian local ring. Assume that R has a pair {x,y} of exact zerodivisors such that dim R/(x,y)?≥?2 and all totally reflexive R/(x)-modules are free. We show that the first and second Brauer–Thrall type theorems hold for the category of totally reflexive R-modules. More precisely, we prove that, for infinitely many integers n, there exists an indecomposable totally reflexive R-module of multiplicity n. Moreover, if the residue field of R is infinite, we prove that there exist infinitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable totally reflexive R-modules of multiplicity n.  相似文献

The existence of fixed points for an analytic self-mapping of a Riemann surface often permits strong conclusions about the mapping. For hyperbolic Riemann surfaces fixed point conditions that imply an analytic self-mapping is actually a conformal automorphism are given. For instance, an analytic self-mapping of a hyperbolic Riemann surface with two fixed points must be a conformal automorphism of finite order. On the other hand, for surfaces of finite genus estimates of the order of a conformal automorphism are obtained from fixed point information. For example, on a Riemann surface of genus g a conformal automorphism with 2g+3 fixed points is the identity.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce an iteration process of finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of solutions of a variational inequality problem for an inverse strongly-monotone mapping, and then obtain a weak convergence theorem. Using this result, we obtain a weak convergence theorem for a pair of a nonexpansive mapping and a strictly pseudocontractive mapping. Further, we consider the problem of finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of zeros of an inverse strongly-monotone mapping.  相似文献
