Every strictly positive function f, given on the unit circle of the complex plane, defines an outer function. This article investigates the behavior of these outer functions on the boundary of the unit disk. It is shown that even if the given function f on the boundary is continuous, the corresponding outer function is generally not continuous on the closure of the unit disk. Moreover, any subset E∈ [-π ,π) of Lebesgue measure zero is a valid divergence set for outer functions of some continuous functions f. These results are applied to study the solutions of non-linear boundary-value problems and the factorization of spectral density functions.  相似文献

In 1986, Tong [13] proved that a function f : (X,τ)→(Y,φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-continuous and A-continuous. We extend this decomposition of continuity in terms of ideals. First, we introduce the notions of regular-I-closed sets, A I-sets and A I -continuous functions in ideal topological spaces and investigate their properties. Then, we show that a function f : (X,τ,I)→(Y, φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-I-continuous and A I-continuous. For any symmetric function f: ? n  → ? n , one can define a corresponding function on the space of n × n real symmetric matrices by applying f to the eigenvalues of the spectral decomposition. We show that this matrix valued function inherits from f the properties of continuity, Lipschitz continuity, strict continuity, directional differentiability, Fréchet differentiability, and continuous differentiability.  相似文献

For continuous functions specified on the Baire space, conditions for the representability of a function of several variables as a superposition of functions of a smaller number of variables are considered. With the use of linear functions of the form (1+α)t, a boundary value of the modulus of continuity separating the positive from the negative solution of the problem is found. For the case in which the problem has a negative solution, a constructive method for obtaining (n+1)-variable continuous functions with modulus of continuity ϕ(t) that are not representable as superposition ofn-variable continuous functions with the same modulus of continuity ϕ(t) is suggested. The nondecreasing continuous function f satisfies f(0) = 0, f (s) > 0 for s > 0, and sup s ≥ 1 f(s)/s<∞, and the nonnegative continuous function p is required to be asymptotically radial. The Jackson inequality relates the value of the best uniform approximation E n (f) of a continuous 2π-periodic function f: ℝ → ℝ by trigonometric polynomials of degree ≤ n − 1 to its third modulus of continuity ω 3(f, t). Let f be a polynomial with coefficients in an algebraically closed, valued field. We show a refinement of the principle of continuity of roots, namely, that each root α of f is locally Hölder continuous of order 1/μ as a function of the coefficients of f, where μ is the root multiplicity of α. This is derived as a consequence of a principle that could be called continuity of factors, namely, that if f = gh is a factorisation with (g, h) = 1, then the coefficients of g and h are locally Lipschitz continuous as functions of the coefficients of f. There have been many studies on the dense theorem of approximation by radial basis feedforword neural networks, and some approximation problems by Gaussian radial basis feedforward neural networks(GRBFNs)in some special function space have also been investigated. This paper considers the approximation by the GRBFNs in continuous function space. Abstract

Given a topological abelian group G, we study the class of strongly sequentially continuous functions on G. Strong sequential continuity is a property intermediate between sequential continuity and uniform sequential continuity, which appeared naturally in the study of smooth functions on Banach spaces. In this paper, we shall mainly concentrate on the gap between strong sequential continuity and uniform sequential continuity. It turns out that if G has some completeness property—for example, if it is completely metrizable—then all strongly sequentially continuous functions on G are uniformly sequentially continuous. On the other hand, we exhibit a large and natural class of groups for which the two notions differ. This class is defined by a property reminiscent of the classical Dirichlet theorem; it includes all dense sugroups of R generated by an increasing sequence of Dirichlet sets, and groups of the form (X, w), where X is a separable Banach space failing the Schur property. Finally, we show that the family of bounded, real-valued strongly sequentially continuous functions on G is a closed subalgebra of l∞(G).  相似文献

We show that if the graph of an analytic function in the unit disk D is not complete pluripolar in C2 then the projection of its pluripolar hull contains a fine neighborhood of a point . Moreover the projection of the pluripolar hull is always finely open. On the other hand we show that if an analytic function f in D extends to a function ℱ which is defined on a fine neighborhood of a point and is finely analytic at p then the pluripolar hull of the graph of f contains the graph of ℱ over a smaller fine neighborhood of p. We give several examples of functions with this property of fine analytic continuation. As a corollary we obtain new classes of analytic functions in the disk which have non-trivial pluripolar hulls, among them C functions on the closed unit disk which are nowhere analytically extendible and have infinitely-sheeted pluripolar hulls. Previous examples of functions with non-trivial pluripolar hull of the graph have fine analytic continuation.  相似文献

Let f: R N C be a periodic function with period 2π in each variable. We prove suffcient conditions for the absolute convergence of the multiple Fourier series of f in terms of moduli of continuity, of bounded variation in the sense of Vitali or Hardy and Krause, and of the mixed partial derivative in case f is an absolutely continuous function. Our results extend the classical theorems of Bernstein and Zygmund from single to multiple Fourier series. LetM be a bounded open plane domain. Let f be a continuous function on the closure of M, 3-times continuously differentiable in M, which vanishes on the boundary. Polterovich and Sodin proved that the values of f cannot exceed the norm of the Hessian of f, averaged over the entire domain M. In this work we study the equality case for this inequality. In the note, we obtain the estimates for the rate of convergence for a sequence of q-Bernstein polynomials {Bn,q(f)} for 0<q<1 by the modulus of continuity of f, and the estimates are sharp with respect to the order for Lipschitz continuous functions. We also get the exact orders of convergence for a family of functions , and the orders do not depend on α, unlike the classical case.  相似文献
