Conjugate points at infinity in infinite dimensional teichmüller spaces

We show in this article that there exists conjugate points at infinity in infinite dimensional Teichmüller spaces.     

Fiber spaces over Teichmüller spaces for Fuchsian groups with elliptic elements

We determine the biholomorphic fiber preserving isomorphisms of fiber spaces over Teichmüller spaces for Fuchsian groups with elliptic elements. We show that except in some special cases a biholomorphic fiber preserving isomorphism between two Bers fiber spaces is always an allowable mapping. We find that the situation is different for Teichmüller curves, showing that in general there are some other biholomorphic fiber preserving isomorphisms between Teichmüller curves besides the allowable mappings. Isomorphisms of fiber spaces over Teichmüller spaces

We will be mainly concerned with some important fiber spaces over Teichmüller spaces, including the Bers fiber space and Teichmüller curve, establishing an isomorphism theorem between “punctured” Teichmüller curves and determining the biholomorphic isomorphisms of these fiber spaces.     

Note On linear consistency of anonymous values for TU-games

In the framework of values for TU-games, it is shown that a particular type of consistency, called linear consistency, together with some kind of standardness for two-person games, imply efficiency, anonymity, linearity, as well as uniqueness of the value. Among others, this uniform treatment generalizes Sobolev's axiomatization of the Shapley value. Revised version: December 2001     

Irregularity of certain algebraic fiber spaces

Let X, Y be smooth complex projective varieties, and be a fiber space whose general fiber is a curve of genus g. Denote by q _f the relative irregularity of f. It is proved that , if f is not generically trivial; moreover, if either a) f is non-constant and the general fiber is either hyperelliptic or bielliptic or b) q(Y)= 0, then , and the bound is best possible. Small maximal pro-p Galois groups

For an odd prime p we classify the pro-p groups of rank ≤ 4 which are realizable as the maximal pro-p Galois group of a field containing a primitive root of unity of order p. Received: 2 September 1997     

Weighted BMOA spaces and composition operators

This article provides information on p-logarithmic s-Carleson measure characterization of the weighted BMOA spaces. Also, the boundedness and compactness of composition operators from Bloch-type space and weighted Bloch space to weighted BMOA space are discussed.     

Pluripolarity of sets with small Hausdorff measure

We show that any set E⊂C ⁿ , n≥ 2, with finite Hausdorff measure? is pluripolar. The result is sharp with respect to the measuring function. The new idea in the proof is to combine a construction from potential theory, related to the real variational integral , , with properties of the pluricomplex relative extremal function for the Bedford–Taylor capacity. A universal complex structure on complete metrizable topological spaces

Let X be a topological space whose topology may be defined by a complete metric d. Taking all such metrics d we define a universal complex structure on X. For this complex structure the sheaf of germs of holomorphic functions on X coincides with the sheaf of germs of continuous functions on X, and hence the theories of topological and holomorphic vector bundles on X are the same.     

The Willmore conjecture for immersed tori with small curvature integral

The Willmore conjecture states that any immersion of a 2-torus into euclidean space satisfies . We prove it under the condition that the L ^p -norm of the Gaussian curvature is sufficiently small. Received: 10 June 1999     

Corrigendum

In [] the authors constructed, for each r∈ (0,1), a function from a homogeneous tree of degree 2t to the open unit disk in the complex plane mapping the root of the tree to 0 and any pair of neighbors to points at hyperbolic distance r. Correspondingly, there is a free group of rank t of Möbius transformations such that the vertices of the tree are mapped to the orbit of 0, and the edges to geodesic arcs. One of the principal results of [] is to show that this function is an embedding of the tree when cos(π /2t)≤ r<1. This corrigendum fills a gap in the argument.     

An explicit upper bound for Weil-Petersson volumes of the moduli spaces of punctured Riemann surfaces

An explicit upper bound for the Weil-Petersson volumes of punctured Riemann surfaces is obtained using Penner's combinatorial integration scheme from [4]. It is shown that for a fixed number of punctures n and for genus g increasing, while this limit is exactly equal to two for n=1. Algebraic varieties on which the classical Phragmén-Lindelöf estimates hold for plurisubharmonic functions

Algebraic varieties V are investigated on which the natural analogue of the classical Phragmén-Lindel?f principle for plurisubharmonic functions holds. For a homogeneous polynomial P in three variables it is shown that its graph has this property if and only if P has real coefficients, no elliptic factors, is locally hyperbolic in all real characteristics, and the localizations in these characteristics are square-free. The last condition is shown to be necessary in any dimension. Received July 23, 1998     

Sampling measures for Bergman spaces on the unit disk

We provide a characterization of the sampling measures for the Bergman spaces. These are the positive measures on the unit disk for which there exists a constant such that These are the continuous analogues of the sets of sampling characterized by K. Seip [13,14] and A. Schuster [12]. Our characterization is in terms of weak* limits of the Moebius transformations of the measure , and mimics the notion for sequences that sampling means being uniformly far from zero sets. Blow-up rings and rational singularities

Let A be a normal local ring which is essentially finite type over a field of characteristic zero. Let I⊂A be an ideal such that the Rees algebra R _A (I) is Cohen–Macaulay and normal. In this paper we address the question: “When does R _A (I) have rational singularities?” In particular, we study the connection between rational singularities of R _A (I) and the adjoint ideals of the powers I ⁿ (n∋ℕ).
