Quasilinear elliptic system in exterior domains with dependence on the gradient

In this paper, we deal with a quasilinear elliptic system in exterior domains with dependence on the gradient and coupling of the equations not only inside of the domain, but also on the boundary. We prove the existence of positive, negative or sign changing weak solutions. Our approach relies on an aproximation argument and an adequate elliptic “a priori” estimate.     

Existence of solution for a nonvariational elliptic system with exponential growth in dimension two

We prove existence of solution for an elliptic system on a bounded domain in dimension two. We use the Galerkin scheme in the product of Hilbert spaces. The nonlinearities may have subcritical or critical exponential growth.     

Nonexistence of solutions for singular elliptic equations with a quadratic gradient term

This paper concerns the nonexistence of solutions for singular elliptic equations with a quadratic gradient term. The main results complement and partly extend some works by Arcoya et al. (2009) [1]. As a by-product of the main results, we fill in a gap in one of their works.

We prove an optimal theorem for a weak solution of an elliptic system in divergence form with measurable coefficients in a homogenization problem. Our theorem is sharp with respect to the assumption on the coefficients. Indeed, we allow the very rapidly oscillating coefficients to be merely measurable in one variable.

In this paper, we study the following Kirchhoff type elliptic problem with critical growth: where , and , and the nonlinear growth term reaches the Sobolev critical exponent since for four spatial dimensions. In a non‐radial symmetric function space, we establish a local compactness splitting lemma of critical version to investigate the existence of positive ground state solutions.     

The existence of nontrivial solutions to a semilinear elliptic system on without the ambrosetti-rabinowitz condition

In this paper, we prove the existence of at least one positive solution pair （u, v）∈ H1（RN） × H1（RN） to the following semilinear elliptic system {-△u＋u=f（x,v）,x∈RN,-△u＋u=g（x,v）,x∈RN （0.1）,by using a linking theorem and the concentration-compactness principle. The main conditions we imposed on the nonnegative functions f, g ∈C0（RN× R1） are that, f（x, t） and g（x, t） are superlinear at t = 0 as well as at t =＋∞, that f and g are subcritical in t and satisfy a kind of monotonic conditions. We mention that we do not assume that f or g satisfies the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition as usual. Our main result can be viewed as an extension to a recent result of Miyagaki and Souto [J. Diff. Equ. 245（2008）, 3628-3638] concerning the existence of a positive solution to the semilinear elliptic boundary value problem {-△u＋u=f（x,u）,x∈Ω,u∈H0^1（Ω） where Ω ∩→RN is bounded and a result of Li and Yang [G. Li and J. Yang： Communications in P.D.E. Vol. 29（2004） Nos.5＆ 6.pp.925-954, 2004] concerning （0.1） when f and g are asymptotically linear.     

Singular Hamiltonian elliptic systems with critical exponential growth in dimension two

We will focus on the existence of nontrivial solutions to the following Hamiltonian elliptic system where are numbers belonging to the interval [0, 2), V is a continuous potential bounded below on by a positive constant and the functions f and g possess exponential growth range established by Trudinger–Moser inequalities in Lorentz–Sobolev spaces. The proof involves linking theorem and a finite‐dimensional approximation.     

Multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of concave-convex elliptic equations with critical growth

In this article, the following concave and convex nonlinearities elliptic equations involving critical growth is considered,{-△u=g(x)|u|2*-2u+λf(x)|u|q-2u,x∈Ω,u=0,x∈■Ω where Ω■R~N(N≥3) is an open bounded domain with smooth boundary, 1 q 2, λ 0.2*=2 N/(N-2)is the critical Sobolev exponent,f∈L2~*/(2~*-q)(Ω)is nonzero and nonnegative,and g ∈ C(■) is a positive function with k local maximum points. By the Nehari method and variational method,k+1 positive solutions are obtained. Our results complement and optimize the previous work by Lin [MR2870946, Nonlinear Anal. 75(2012) 2660-2671].

On a class of Hamiltonian elliptic systems involving unbounded or decaying potentials in dimension two

This paper is concerned with the existence of solutions for a class of Hamiltonian elliptic systems with unbounded, singular or decaying radial potentials and nonlinearities having exponential critical growth. The approach relies on an approximation procedure and a version of the Trudinger–Moser inequality.     

Existence of solutions for gradient systems with application to diffusion problems involving nonconvex energies

In this paper, we establish the existence of solutions for gradient systems of evolution under some type (M) and semi-coerciveness conditions. The main result is applied in order to solve nonlinear diffusion equations involving nonconvex energies.     

On the asymptotic growth of positive solutions to a nonlocal elliptic blow-up system involving strong competition

For a competition-diffusion system involving the fractional Laplacian of the form

$?{(?\mathrm{\Delta })}^{s}u=u{v}^2,?{(?\mathrm{\Delta })}^{s}v=v{u}^2,u,v>0\text{in}{\mathbb{R}}^N,$

with $s\in (0,1)$, we prove that the maximal asymptotic growth rate for its entire solutions is 2s. Moreover, since we are able to construct symmetric solutions to the problem, when $N=2$ with prescribed growth arbitrarily close to the critical one, we can conclude that the asymptotic bound found is optimal. Finally, we prove existence of genuinely higher dimensional solutions, when $N\ge 3$. Such problems arise, for example, as blow-ups of fractional reaction-diffusion systems when the interspecific competition rate tends to infinity.     

Estimates of blow‐up times of a system of semilinear SPDEs

In this paper, blow‐up property to a system of nonlinear stochastic PDEs driven by two‐dimensional Brownian motions is investigated. The lower and upper bounds for blow‐up times are obtained. When the system parameters satisfy certain conditions, the explicit solutions of a related system of random PDEs are deduced, which allows us to use Yor's formula to obtain the distribution functions of several blow‐up times. Particularly, the impact of noises on the life span of solutions is studied as the system parameters satisfy different conditions. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Contractibility of level sets of functionals associated with some elliptic boundary value problems and applications

Assume that I is the functional defined on the Hilbert space concerning the problem: in and u on , where f is sublinear at and superlinear at 0, that is, , and is the first eigenvalue of in . Under very general conditions, I has at least two local minimizers u ₁ and u ₂ and one mountain pass point u ₃ , and . Assuming that u ₁ , u ₂ and u ₃ are the only three nontrivial critical points of I, we prove that the level set I _b is contractible for all . Using this conclusion, we extend one of Hofer's result concerning existence of four nontrivial solutions of the above problem to the case where I is not and the trivial critical point 0 may be degenerate. Since I is not , the local topological degree and the critical groups of u ₃ can not be clearly computed. The lack of topological information about 0 and u ₃ makes it impossible to use topological degree theory or Morse theory in obtaining the fourth nontrivial solution. To overcome these difficulties, we explore a new technique in this paper.
