A cube design of order v, or a CUBE(v), is a decomposition of all cyclicly oriented quadruples of a v‐set into oriented cubes. A CUBE(v) design is unoriented if its cubes can be paired so that the cubes in each pair are related by reflection through the center. A cube design is degenerate if it has repeated points on one of its cubes, otherwise it is nondegenerate. We show that a nondegenerate CUBE(v) design exists for all integers , and that an unoriented nondegenerate CUBE(v) design exists if and only if and or . Cube tilings formed by $n$ -dimensional $4\mathbb Z ^n$ -periodic hypercubes with side $2$ and integer coordinates are considered here. By representing the problem of finding such cube tilings within the framework of exact cover and using canonical augmentation, pairwise nonisomorphic 5-dimensional cube tilings are exhaustively enumerated in a constructive manner. There are 899,710,227 isomorphism classes of such tilings, and the total number of tilings is 638,560,878,292,512. It is further shown that starting from a 5-dimensional cube tiling and using a sequence of switching operations, it is possible to generate any other cube tiling.  相似文献

We introduce and examine a special class of cube complexes. We show that special cube-complexes virtually admit local isometries to the standard 2-complexes of naturally associated right-angled Artin groups. Consequently, special cube-complexes have linear fundamental groups. In the word-hyperbolic case, we prove the separability of quasiconvex subgroups of fundamental groups of special cube-complexes. We show that an idempotent variety has a d-dimensional cube term if and only if its free algebra on two generators has no d-ary compatible cross. We employ Hall’s Marriage Theorem to show that an idempotent variety \({\mathcal{V}}\) of finite signature whose fundamental operations have arities n 1, . . . , n k, has a d-dimensional cube term for some d if and only if it has one of dimension \({1 + \sum_{i=1}^{k} (n_{i} - 1)}\). We show that a pure cyclic term variety has a cube term if and only if it contains no 2- element semilattice. We define the notion of a hypercube structure on a functor between two commutative Picard categories which generalizes the notion of a cube structure on a Gm-torsor over an abelian scheme. We prove that the determinant functor of a relative scheme X/S of relative dimension n is canonically endowed with a (n+2)-cube structure. We use this result to define the intersection bundle IX/S(L1,…,Ln+1) of n+1 line bundles on X/S and to construct an additive structure on the functor IX/S:PIC(X/S)n+1PIC(S). Then, we construct the resultant of n+1 sections of n+1 line bundles on X, and the discriminant of a section of a line bundle on X. Finally we study the relationship between the cube structures on the determinant functor and on the discriminant functor, and we use it to prove a polarization formula for the discriminant functor.  相似文献
