On Positive and Weakly Positive Implicative BCI-Algebras

Prove that the notion of positive implicative BCI-algebras coincides with that of weakly positive implicative BCI-algebras, thus the whole results in the latter are still true in the former, in particular, one of these results answers definitely the first half of J. Meng and X.L. Xin’s open problem: Does the class of positive implicative BCI-algebras form a variety? The second half of the same problem is: What properties will the ideals of such an algebra have? Here, some further properties are obtained.     

Positive graphs

We study “positive” graphs that have a nonnegative homomorphism number into every edge-weighted graph (where the edgeweights may be negative). We conjecture that all positive graphs can be obtained by taking two copies of an arbitrary simple graph and gluing them together along an independent set of nodes. We prove the conjecture for various classes of graphs including all trees. We prove a number of properties of positive graphs, including the fact that they have a homomorphic image which has at least half the original number of nodes but in which every edge has an even number of pre-images. The results, combined with a computer program, imply that the conjecture is true for all but one graph up to 10 nodes.

Positive Refinable Operators

Recently, linear positive operators of Bernstein–Schoenberg type, relative to B-splines bases, have been considered. The properties of these operators are derived mainly from the total positivity of normalized B-spline bases. In this paper we shall construct a generalization of the operator considered in [15] by means of normalized totally positive bases generated by a particular class of totally positive scaling functions. Next, we shall study its approximation properties. Our results can be established also for more general sequences of normalized totally positive bases.

Positive dependence orderings

Summary This paper presents a systematic basis for studying orderings of bivariate distributions according to their degree of positive dependence. The general concept of a positive dependence ordering (PDO) is introduced and its properties discussed. Based on this concept, a new ordering of bivariate distributions according to their degree of total positivity of order two (TP₂) is presented, and is shown to be a PDO. Positive Bernstein-Sheffer Operators

Let h(t) = Σ_{n ≥ 1}h_nt_n, h₁ > 0, and exp(xh(t)) = Σ_{n ≥ 0}P_n(x) tⁿ/n!. For f C[0,1], the associated Bernstein-Sheffer operator of degree n is defined by B^h_nf(x) = P_n^{− 1} Σⁿ_{k = 0}f(k/n)(ⁿ_k) P_k(x) P_{n − k}(1 − x) where p_n = p_n(1). We characterize functions h for which B^h_n is a positive operator for all n ≥ 0. Then we give a necessary and sufficient condition insuring the uniform convergence of B^h_nf to f. When h is a polynomial, we give an upper bound for the error f − B^h_nf _∞. We also discuss the behavior of B^h_nf when h is a series with a finite or infinite radius of convergence.     

Positive subdefinite matrices

The purpose of this paper is to summarize the known results on positive subdefinite matrices and to study more deeply some of their properties. In particular we contrast these matrices, characterizing quasiconvex quadratic forms, with positive semidefinite matrices, characterizing convex quadratic forms, to stress the loss due to the generalization.     

Positive Sugihara monoids

It is proved that in the variety of positive Sugihara monoids, every finite subdirectly irreducible algebra is a retract of a free algebra. It follows that every quasivariety of positive Sugihara monoids is a variety, in contrast with the situation in several neighboring varieties. This result shows that when the logic R-mingle is formulated with the Ackermann constant t, then its full negation-free fragment is hereditarily structurally complete. Presented by R. W. Quackenbush. Positive Jonsson Theories

This paper is a general introduction to Positive Logic, where only what we call h-inductive sentences are under consideration, allowing the extension to homomorphisms of model-theoric notions which are classically associated to embeddings; in particular, the existentially closed models, that were primitively defined by Abraham Robinson, become here positively closed models. It accounts for recent results in this domain, and is oriented towards the positivisation of Jonsson theories.     

On Positive Eigenvalues and Positive Fixed Points of Multivalued Condensing Mappings

In this paper,we discuss the calculations of fixed point indexs for multivalued condensing mappings and k-set-contraction mappings,obtain some theorems on the eigenvalues and the fixed points under the suitable conditions. Our conclusions improve and generalize some well-known results.     

Positive Solutions of a Nonlinear Neutral Equation with Positive and Negative Coefficients

In this paper, a class of nonlinear neutral equations with positive and negative coefficients is considered. Several conditions for the existence and nonexistence of eventually positive solutions are obtained. These conditions extend and improve some of the existing criteria in the literature.
