We propose a simple technique to measure in the time domain the magnitude of frequency chirp of high-speed temporal complex waveforms. The technique relies in the properties of three time-domain chirp-sensitive operations: the Hilbert transform, the integration, and the differentiation, all of them analyzed in its integer and fractional counterpart. The implementation of these operations through fiber Bragg gratings is also discussed. We numerically prove the viability of this technique.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that a uniform fiber Bragg grating (FBG) working in the linear regime inherently behaves as an optical temporal integrator over a limited time window. Specifically, the reflected temporal waveform from a weak-coupling uniform FBG is proportional to the time integral of an (arbitrary) optical pulse launched at the component input. This integration extends over a time window fixed by the duration of the squarelike temporal impulse response of the FBG. Ultrafast all-optical integrators capable of accurate operation over nanosecond time windows can be implemented using readily feasible FBGs. The introduced concepts are demonstrated by numerical simulations.  相似文献

We demonstrate a simple technique for the implementation of an all-optical integrator based on a uniform-period fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in reflection that is designed to present a decreasing exponential impulse response. The proposed FBG integrator is readily feasible and can perform close to ideal integration of few-picosecond and subpicosecond pulses.  相似文献

We present experimental results on ultrafast intensity modulation using the Raman effect and demonstrate 10-Gbit/s selective pulse erasure. The technique is both broadband and polarization insensitive and has a potential speed in excess of 500 Gbits/s. In addition to performing pulse erasure, this all-optical modulator can shape pulses as a precise, soft aperture scalpel and create short, dark pulses.  相似文献

We propose an all-optical in-fiber ultra-broadband fractional differentiator. We numerically demonstrate that a long-period grating inherently performs the temporal fractional differentiation on an optical pulse propagating in the fundamental fiber mode, within a certain spectral bandwidth around the resonance frequency. The device shows a good accuracy calculating the fractional time derivatives of the complex field of THz-bandwidth optical pulses.  相似文献

Recent research results have shown that many complex physical phenomena can be better described using variable-order fractional differential equations. To understand the physical meaning of variable-order fractional calculus, and better know the application potentials of variable-order fractional operators in physical processes, an experimental study of temperature-dependent variable-order fractional integrator and differentiator is presented in this paper. The detailed introduction of analogue realization of variable-order fractional operator, and the influence of temperature to the order of fractional operator are presented in particular. Furthermore, the potential applications of variable-order fractional operators in PI λ(t) D μ(t) controller and dynamic-order fractional systems are suggested.  相似文献

We propose a novel all-optical controllable switch using photonic crystal cavity. For doing this work, the dipole induced transparency phenomenon realized through interaction of light with multilevel nanocrystals is used. Multilevel nanocrystals are doped to photonic crystal rods. Using the proposed structure and applying the control field, the absorbing medium converts to transparent one and switching operation is obtained. Analytical relation for evaluation of the proposed device considering quantum optical effects is presented and studied by investigation of effects of parameters on switching characteristics. We show that high quality all-optical switching operation can be obtained.  相似文献

A new improved design of an all-optical processor that performs modular arithmetic is presented. The modulo-processor is based on all-optical circuit of interconnected semiconductor optical amplifier logic gates. The design allows processing times of less than 1 μs for 16-bit operation at 10 Gb/s and up to 32-bit operation at 100 Gb/s.  相似文献

We propose and simulate two novel schemes of 40 Gbit/s format conversion from non-return-to-zero to return-to-zero based on cascaded second-harmonic generation and difference-frequency generation in a periodically poled lithium niobate loop mirror. We investigate the conversion performance, including eye diagrams, conversion efficiency, pulse width, Q-factor, extinction ratio, and tunability. The proposed schemes can perform single-to-dual-channel format conversion. In addition, it is found that simultaneous multichannel format conversion as well as tunable multicasting format conversion can potentially be implemented with great flexibility.  相似文献

阐述了光纤水听器拾取声压信号的基本原理。研制的光纤水听器探头尺寸为Φ22 mm×100 mm,相位灵敏度为-160 dB(参考值1 rad/μPa),波动小于3 dB,系统最小可测声压在1 kHz频点为43.5 dB,与零级海洋噪声水平相当。光纤水听器与标准水听器采集的宽带信号相关系数大于0.94,信号基本一致。23基元1 km传输全光湿端光纤水听器阵列于2002年8月在渤海进行了海上试验,相邻基元采集的气枪信号相关系数大于0.98,阵列具有良好波束指向性。光纤水听器关键技术的成熟为其走向应用奠定了良好基础。  相似文献

The feasibility of realizing an all-optical NOR gate for 160 Gb/s return-to-zero data pulses using a single quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier (QD-SOA)-based Mach–Zehnder interferometer is theoretically investigated and demonstrated. The proposed scheme exploits a modified Fredkin gate driven not only by the pair of data streams between which the Boolean NOR function is executed but by the complement of one of these signals as well. A numerical simulation is conducted to evaluate the performance of the scheme against the extinction ratio and find for which choice of the critical data signals and QD-SOAs parameters this metric becomes acceptable. Provided that the specified requirements are satisfied, which is technologically feasible, the NOR gate can be realized for data signals of the same wavelength both with logical correctness and high quality.  相似文献

We propose and simulate simple realizations of all-optical format conversion between differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) signals based on cascaded second-order nonlinearities in a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide. Four kinds of 40 Gb/s all-optical format conversion from non-return-to-zero differential phase-shift keying (NRZ-DPSK) to return-to-zero differential phase-shift keying (RZ-DPSK) are investigated based on cascaded second-harmonic generation and difference-frequency generation (cSHG/DFG) or cascaded sum- and difference-frequency generation (cSFG/DFG). The optical spectra, temporal waveforms, eye diagrams, constellation diagrams, and time-related phase distribution are analyzed, which indicate successful implementation of NRZ-DPSK-to-RZ-DPSK format conversion. The obtained results also confirm the phase preservation characteristic of PPLN.  相似文献

全光纤干涉式传感结构中包层模场与外界物理量作用,携带被感测信息,因此对包层模的研究是设计制作和提高该类传感器传感性能的关键.利用有限差分光束传播法获得传感光纤不同长度和不同芯径比时传感器对应的光谱,通过傅里叶变换获得其干涉频谱,计算出各主要参与干涉的包层模组的有效折射率,利用色散方程确定对应包层模.理论仿真结果显示,随着传感部分光纤长度增加,参与干涉的包层模式随之增加,并且向高阶模式变化,光谱变得稠密,是多阶包层模干涉的叠加,传感器输出干涉谱的自由光谱范围变小.随着输入光纤与传感光纤芯径比变化,会明显改变纤芯包层功率分布,同时,芯径比增大也会增加参与干涉的包层模种类和阶数.  相似文献

We present a logical design of an all-optical processor that performs modular arithmetic. The overall design is based a set of interconnected modules that use all-optical gates to perform simple logical functions. We report an experimental study of an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on the development of an efficient in-fiber amplitude modulator. Intermodal coupling induced by standing flexural acoustic waves permits the implementation of broad bandwidth (1.5 nm), high modulation depth (72%), low-insertion-loss (0.75 dB), in-fiber amplitude modulators, operating in the MHz frequency range. The experimental characterization of the laser as a function of the radio frequency voltage that controls the modulator, the length of the active fiber, and the optical bandwidth of an intracavity filter implemented with a fiber Bragg grating has led to an improved performance of the Erbium-doped fiber laser: optical pulses of 34-ps temporal width, 1.4-W peak power, and 4.75-MHz repetition rate.  相似文献

光纤法布里-珀罗干涉温度和压力传感器具有灵敏度高、制作简单、成本低、体积小和抗电磁干扰能力强等优点,已被广泛应用于军事和民用领域.在某些环境恶劣,如具有强电磁干扰和腐蚀性,或提供给传感器的安装空间非常有限的特殊工业领域,微型光纤温度和压力传感器发挥着重要的作用,国内外诸多高校、科研院所都在对其进行研究.本文综述了光纤法布里-珀罗干涉仪的基本原理、制备技术、及其压力和温度传感应用的研究进展.详细介绍了湿法化学腐蚀制备法、电弧放电制备法、飞秒激光制备法、聚合物辅助制备法等常见光纤法布里-珀罗腔传感器的制作工艺,分析了不同制作工艺的优缺点;详细介绍了光纤法布里-珀罗干涉仪在温度传感、压力传感和温压一体传感领域的应用;最后对光纤法布里-珀罗干涉温度压力传感器的发展进行了总结和展望.  相似文献
