A rapid extraction separation of Ba²⁺ from Sr²⁺ with a nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate /NaDCC/ in the presence of polyethylene glycol having mean relative molecular weight 400 /PEG 400/ and tetrasodium salt of trans-cyclohexane-1,2-diamine-N,N,N,N-tetraacetic acid /Na₄L/ was developed. The separation factor _Ba/Sr was approximately 10⁴.

A rapid extraction of trace amounts of strontium from calcium with a nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate (NaDCC) in the presence of 15-crown-5 and the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediamine-N,N,N",N"-tetra-acetic acid (Na₄L) in the aqueous phase was developed. The separation factor a(Sr/Ca) was approximately 10⁵.

Separation of yttrium from strontium in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene extraction system

A rapid separation for carrier-free ⁹⁰Y in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene extraction system from an ⁹⁰Y/⁹⁰Sr generator was proposed. After two-stage extraction separation, chemical yield of ⁹⁰Y in the final aqueous phase was roughly 80%, while ⁹⁰Sr radionuclide impurity in this phase containing carrier-free ⁹⁰Y was 10^-6%.

Extraction of microamounts of strontium and barium by a nitrobenzene solution of hydrogen dicarbollylcobaltate (H⁺B⁻) in the presence of dibenzo-21-crown-7 (DB21C7, L) has been investigated. The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the complexes HL⁺, ML²⁺, ML₂²⁺ and MHL₂³⁺ (M²⁺ = Sr²⁺, Ba²⁺) are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the species in nitrobenzene saturated with water have been determined.     

Chemical and radiochemical separation of strontium and yttrium

Summary A procedure is presented for the chemical and radiochemioal separation of strontium and yttrium in mixtures which is based on the selective carrying of strontium by ignited barium sulphate leaving yttrium in the solution phase; the carried strontium is recovered by leaching with aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. In order to make strontium radiochemically free from yttrium activity, an initial isotopic dilution of the latter with 1 mg of inactive yttrium is an essential requirement. The method is applicable to chemical analysis of mixtures involving 1 to 3 mg of strontium and 1 to 16 mg of yttrium, both components being determined complexometrically after separation.

Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren zur chemischen und radioehemischen Trennung von Strontium und Yttrium in Gemischen wurde vorgeschlagen, das auf der selektiven Abscheidung von Sr mit geglühtem Bariumsulfat beruht, wobei Y in der Lösung zurückbleibt; Sr wird dann mit wäßriger Salzsäure ausgewaschen. Um jede radiochemische Y-Aktivität aus dem Sr zu entfernen, ist es wesentlich, vorher mit 1 mg Y-Isotop zu verdünnen. Das Verfahren ist für die chemische Analyse von Gemischen aus 1 bis 3 mg Sr und 1 bis 16 mg Y verwendbar. Die beiden Komponenten werden nach der Trennung komplexometrisch bestimmt.

     

Individual extraction constants of some dicarbollylcobaltate anions in the water-nitrobenzene system

Individual extraction constants of nine dicarbollylcobaltate anions in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene system were determined radiometrically assuming that the changes of Gibbs energy of the transfer of the tetraphenylarsonium cation, Ph₄As⁺, and of the tetraphenylborate anion, BPh ₄ ^– , from the aqueous into the nitrobenzene phase are equal. The constants obtained by this method were correlated with Hansch's constants of hydrophobity.

A rapid extraction separation of trace amounts of yttrium from strontium with a nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate (NaDCC) and 18-crown-6 in the presence of tetrasodium salt of ethylenediamine-N,N,N",N"- tetraacetic acid (Na₄L) in the aqueous phase was developed. The separation factor a(Sr/Y) was substantially higher than 10⁶. This water-nitrobenzene extraction system can be applied for efficient separation of carrier-free ⁹⁰Y from ⁹⁰Sr/⁹⁰Y generator.

The separation factor a(Sr/Y) was substantially higher than 10⁵. This water-nitrobenzene extraction system can be applied for the efficient separation of carrier-free ⁹⁰Y from ⁹⁰Y/⁹⁰Sr generator.

Liquid-liquid extraction and separation studies of yttrium

A simple selective method is presented for the solvent extraction of yttrium from salicylate media by using triphenylphosphine oxide. Yttrium is extracted quantitatively from 0.05 mol/l sodium salicylate solution at pH 4.5–5.0 using 1.8% triphenylphosphine oxide dissolved in toluene as an extractant and can be subsequently stripped using water and determined spectrophotometrically with Thoron-I. This precise and accurate method permits the separation of Y from Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Zr, Hf, Th and U from binary mixtures and multi-component systems. 离子液体双水相萃取分离苋菜红的研究

建立了由亲水性离子液体四氟硼酸1-丁基-3-甲基咪唑([Bmim]BF4)和NaH2PO4形成的双水相体系萃取分离苋菜红的新方法.研究了盐的浓度、离子液体浓度、溶液酸度、其它共存物质对苋菜红萃取率的影响.结果表明,NaH2PO4加入量在2～2.5 g,离子液量在1.0～2.0 mL,苋菜红溶液量在1.5 mL,溶液酸度在pH 4～6范围,离子液体双水相体系对苋菜红有较高的萃取率(E%＞90).用加入无机离子、不同类型表面活性剂和吸收光谱探讨了离子液体与苋菜红之间的作用.     

Separation of yttrium from strontium in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene system

A rapid separation of carrier-free ⁹⁰Y in the aqueous phase of the water/nitrobenzene extraction system from an ⁹⁰Y/⁹⁰Sr generator is proposed. After a three-stage extraction, the chemical yield of ⁹⁰Y in the final aqueous phase was almost 90%, while the ⁹⁰Sr radionuclide impurity in this phase containing carrier-free ⁹⁰Y was about 10^–10%.
