We have studied the Ising model on a layered square lattice with four different coupling constants and two different magnetic moments. The partition function at zero magnetic field is derived exactly. We propose a formula for the spontaneous magnetization which agrees with the exact low-temperature series expansion up to the 16th order and reduces to the exact result of Au-Yang and McCoy in a special case.  相似文献

The spontaneous magnetization of the Ising model on a 4–8 lattice with six different coupling constants and two different magnetic moments is studied. We implement a new and accurate numerical entropic scheme to investigate the first-order transition features of the triangular Ising model with nearest-neighbor (Jnn) and next-nearest-neighbor (Jnnn) antiferromagnetic interactions in ratio R=Jnn/Jnnn=1. Important aspects of the existing theories of first-order transitions are briefly reviewed, tested on this model, and compared with previous work on the Potts model. Using lattices with linear sizes L=30,40,…,100,120,140,160,200,240,360 and 480 we estimate the thermal characteristics of the present weak first-order transition. Our results improve the original estimates of Rastelli et al. and verify all the generally accepted predictions of the finite-size scaling theory of first-order transitions, including transition point shifts, thermal, and magnetic anomalies. However, two of our findings are not compatible with current phenomenological expectations. The behavior of transition points, derived from the number-of-phases parameter, is not in accordance with the theoretically conjectured exponentially small shift behavior and the well-known double Gaussian approximation does not correctly describe higher correction terms of the energy cumulants. It is argued that this discrepancy has its origin in the commonly neglected contributions from domain wall corrections.  相似文献

We derive rigorously general results on the critical behavior of the magnetization in Ising models, as a function of the temperature and the external field. For the nearest-neighbor models it is shown that ind4 dimensions the magnetization is continuous atT c and its critical exponents take the classical values=3 and=1/2, with possible logarithmic corrections atd=4. The continuity, and other explicit bounds, formally extend tod>3 1/2. Other systems to which the results apply include long-range models ind=1 dimension, with 1/|x–y| couplings, for which 2/(–1) replacesd in the above summary. The results are obtained by means of differential inequalities derived here using the random current representation, which is discussed in detail for the case of a nonvanishing magnetic field.Research supported in part by NSF grant PHY-8301493 A02, and by a John S. We investigate the phase transitions in the Ising model on a layered square lattice with first-(J1) and second-(J2) neighbor intralayer interactions and interlayer couplings (J). The thermodynamics of the system is evaluated within a cluster mean-field approximation, which allows us to identify the nature of the thermally driven phase transitions hosted by the model. As a result, we find that interlayer couplings reduce the region of first-order phase transitions between paramagnetic and superantiferromagnetic states. We also find that the interlayer couplings reduce the frustration effects by reducing the entropy content of the low-temperature phases. Our results suggest that tricriticality is present in the special case J=J1, which is in qualitative agreement with recent Monte Carlo simulations for the model.  相似文献

We restudy the phase diagram of the 2D-Ising model with competing interactions J1 on nearest neighbour and J2 on next-nearest neighbour bonds via Monte-Carlo simulations. We present the finite temperature phase diagram and introduce computational methods which allow us to calculate transition temperatures close to the criticalpoint at J2 = J1/2. Further on we investigate the character of the different phase boundariesand find that the transition is weakly first order formoderate J2 > J1/2.  相似文献

As an analysis of the development of first-order behavior in two-dimensional Ising lattices, the square lattice with antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbor interactions and a ferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor interaction in the (11) direction has been modeled. The phase diagram was calculated for a range of interaction parameters and imposed fields; the calculations were performed using the cluster variation method (CVM). Analysis of the calculations suggests that no first-order behavior is developed in this system, so that higher dimensionality or connectivities are required before such behavior is developed.  相似文献

We have studied the spontaneous magnetization of the Ising model on a square lattice with non-crossing diagonal interactions. It is discovered that the formula derived by Vaks, Larkin and Ovchinnikov in 1965 does not agree with the series expansions. The Ising model on the generalized checkerboard lattice is studied and the three-spin correlation function is obtained for the three nodal spins surrounding a unit cell of the checkerboard lattice. A study is made of a two-dimensional Ising model with staggered three-spin interactions in one direction and two-spin interactions in the other. The phase diagram of the model and its critical behavior are explored by conventional finite-size scaling and by exploiting relations between mass gap amplitudes and critical exponents predicted by conformal invariance. The model is found to exhibit a line of continuously varying critical exponents, which bifurcates into two Ising critical lines. This similarity of the model with the Ashkin-Teller model leads to a conjecture for the exact critical indices along the nonuniversal critical curve. Earlier contradictions about the universality class of the uniform (isotropic) case of the model are clarified.  相似文献

We study the magnetization m L (h, ) for the Ising model on a large but finite lattice square under the minus boundary conditions. Using known large-deviation results evaluating the balance between the competing effects of the minus boundary conditions and the external magnetic field h, we describe the details of its dependence on h as exemplified by the finite-size rounding of the infinite-volume magnetization discontinuity and its shift with respect to the infinite-volume transition point.  相似文献

We consider Ising ferromagnets on random subgraphs of the square lattice. These are obtained by independent random selections either of sites or of bonds. We assume that for each site (or, respectively, bond) the probability of being selected exceeds the critical percolation probability. Then, at sufficiently low temperatures and zero external field, spontaneous magnetization occurs. Some further related results are obtained.  相似文献

Using a Wang-Landau entropic sampling scheme, we investigate the effects of quenched bond randomness on a particular case of a triangular Ising model with nearest- (Jnn) and next-nearest-neighbor (Jnnn) antiferromagnetic interactions. We consider the case R=Jnnn/Jnn=1, for which the pure model is known to have a columnar ground state where rows of nearest-neighbor spins up and down alternate and undergo a weak first-order phase transition from the ordered to the paramagnetic state. With the introduction of quenched bond randomness we observe the effects signaling the expected conversion of the first-order phase transition to a second-order phase transition and using the Lee-Kosterlitz method, we quantitatively verify this conversion. The emerging, under random bonds, continuous transition shows a strongly saturating specific heat behavior, corresponding to a negative exponent α, and belongs to a new distinctive universality class with ν=1.135(11), γ/ν=1.744(9), and β/ν=0.124(8). Thus, our results for the critical exponents support an extensive but weak universality and the emerged continuous transition has the same magnetic critical exponent (but a different thermal critical exponent) as a wide variety of two-dimensional (2d) systems without and with quenched disorder.  相似文献

在有效场理论和切断近似框架内,选择自旋S=1的二维方格子,研究横向随机晶场Ising模型的相图和磁化行为,重点是横向随机晶场浓度和晶场比率对相图和磁化的影响.给出了i>T-Dx空间的相图和m-T空间的磁化图.在晶场稀疏情况下,负晶场方向存在临界温度的峰值,正方向可出现重入现象.晶场比率取+0.5和-0.5时,磁有序相范围缩小,特别是晶场比率取-0.5时,随晶场浓度的降低,临界温度峰值从横向晶场负方向渡越到正方向.固定某一负晶场值,不同晶场比率的磁化行为有明显差异.同时与纵向稀疏晶场Ising模型结果进行有意义的比较. 关键词: 横向随机晶场Ising模型 相图 磁化行为  相似文献

One-dimensional Ising systems in random fields (RFs) are studied taking into account the nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour interactions. We investigate two distributions of RFs: binary and Gaussian distributions. We consider four cases of the exchange couplings: ferro-ferromagnetic (F-F), ferro-antiferromagnetic (F-AF), antiferro-ferromagnetic (AF-F) and antiferro-antiferromagnetic (AF-AF). The energy minima of chains of no more than 30 spins with periodic boundary conditions are analysed exactly. We found that the average number of energy minima grows exponentially with the number of spins in both cases of RFs. The energy distributions across the corresponding energy minima are shown. The effects of RFs on both the average and density of metastable states are explained. For a weak RF, the energy distributions display a multipartitioned structure. We also discuss the frustration effect due to RFs and exchange fields. Finally, the distributions of magnetization are calculated. The absolute value of magnetization averaged over all metastable states decreases logarithmically with the number of spins.  相似文献
