Dielectric properties of binary mixtures of anisole with methanol (MeOH), 1-propanol (1-PrOH), 1-butanol (1-BuOH) and 1-heptanol (1-HeOH) over an entire concentration range have been studied at a fixed temperature 40°C. The dielectric constant (ε′) and dielectric loss (ε″) of the binary mixtures of polar liquids have been determined at a microwave frequency of 9.1?GHz. The static dielectric permittivity (ε 0) of the liquid samples was also determined using a precision LCR meter. Determined values of static dielectric permittivity (ε 0) and dielectric permittivity (ε*) at 9.1?GHz frequency were used to evaluate relaxation time (τ) and high frequency limit dielectric permittivity (ε ). Dielectric parameters were interpreted in terms of molecular interaction between the anisole and alcohol molecules.  相似文献

Static dielectric permittivity, density, viscosity, and refractive index of anisole (AN), methanol (MeOH), 1-propanol (1-PrOH) and binary mixtures of AN with MeOH and 1-PrOH at nine different concentrations, were measured at 303, 313 and 323 K temperatures. Measured properties of pure AN, MeOH and 1-PrOH were compared with literature values and they were found in good agreement. The investigation of binary mixtures showed a systematic change in static dielectric permittivity, density and viscosity with change in concentration of anisole in the mixture. Measured properties of liquid samples were used to calculate Kirkwood correlation factor and excess parameters such as excess dielectric permittivity, excess molar volume and excess viscosity. Determined parameters have been interpreted in terms of molecular interaction among the molecular species of the binary mixtures.  相似文献

The binary mixtures of nematogenic compounds 4-n-pentyl phenyl 4-n′-hexyloxy benzoate (ME6O.5) and 4-cyanophenyl 4-pentyl benzoate (CPPB) show the presence of induced smectic phase. In this article, we report the phase diagram and the results of refractive index, density, static dielectric permittivity and X-ray diffraction measurements of different binary mixtures of (ME6O.5?+?CPPB) throughout the entire composition range. The density and refractive index values have been analysed to obtain orientational order parameters. The various physical properties of the system have been discussed on the basis of the phase diagram.  相似文献

From the thermodynamical, optical texture and dielectric studies of the binary mixtures of 3β-chloro-5-cholestene (ChCl) and 4-n-decyloxybenzoic acid (DOBA), the phase diagram has been drawn. It has been observed that low concentrations of ChCl (1 to 7 mol%) in DOBA induce various types of twisted grain boundary (TGB) submesophases, whereas higher concentrations induce a smectic A (SmA) mesophase. Various optical textures of the TGB phases under different conditions of molecular anchoring have been observed. Weak transitions related with TGB phases have been detected from the temperature dependence of dielectric permittivity. The observed phase diagram of ChCl-DOBA binary system is in complete conformity with the theoretically predicted mean-field phase diagram derived by Renn within the framework of the chiral Chen-Lubenski model  相似文献

We report the measurement of temperature-dependent dielectric parameters in some binary liquid crystal mixtures comprising of a hockey-stick-shaped mesogen 4-(3-decyloxyphenyliminomethyl) phenyl-4-decyloxycinnamate (SF7) and calamitic compound 4′-octyloxy-4-cyanobiphenyl (8OCB). All the investigated mixtures possess a large positive dielectric anisotropy (Δε), although a noticeable reduction has been found by increasing the diverse-shaped dopant concentration. Investigation on the pretransitional behavior in the vicinity of isotropic to nematic (IN) phase transition suggesting a tricritical character for all the studied mixtures. Parameterization of dielectric permittivity close to the nematic to smectic-A (N–Sm-A) phase transition exhibits non-universal values of the critical exponents describing a second-order nature of the transition. Systematic variation of critical exponents against dopant concentration and McMillan ratio reveals a well consistency with those obtained from the high-resolution optical birefringence measurements.  相似文献

Molecular interactions in mixtures of anisole with o-toluidine and anisole and m-toluidine have been studied at three different temperatures using the dielectric method with measurements of the static permittivity and permittivity at optical frequency. From the measured values, the Kirkwood correlation parameter, Bruggeman parameter, excess permittivity and thermodynamic excess free energy were computed for the mixtures. Positive and negative values of excess permittivity were obtained for both mixtures. The excess free energy for the anisole+o-toluidine mixture is positive at all three temperatures, whereas mixed values (positive and negative) are obtained for the anisole+m-toluidine mixture. Alignment of the dipoles in both mixtures was identified by Kirkwood factors. The investigation shows that the interaction between the components changes systematically with concentration and temperature and the change is minimum.  相似文献

The dielectric relaxation measurements on binary mixtures of 2-methoxyethanol with water have been carried out over entire concentrations and at temperature range of 0 °C to 25 °C using a picosecond time domain reflectometry technique. The complex dielectric permittivity spectra of 2-methoxyethanol/water mixtures were fitted using Havriliak-Negami equation. The static dielectric constant and relaxation time for all concentrations were obtained using least square fit method. The principal relaxation time is small if compared to that of corresponding alcohol/water mixtures this may be due to the hydrogen bonding ether oxygen in the 2-ME-water system. Excess dielectric properties, Kirkwood correlation factor, thermodynamic properties and Bruggeman factor are also determined and the results are interpreted in terms of heterogeneous interactions among the unlike molecules due to hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

The results of dielectric studies of MCM-41 sili cate matrices with cellular pores (37.0 and 26.1 ? in diameter) filled by binary mixtures of K1−x Ag x NO3 (x=0, 0.05, 0.10) are reported in comparison with those obtained for bulk salts of the same composition in the temperature range of structural phase transitions. It has been revealed that, upon heating, the nanocomposites undergo transitions from crystal modification II to phase I, as in bulk KNO3, whereas the bulk mixtures with x=0.05 and 0.10 have a complex structure in accordance with the phase diagram. It has been shown that embedding binary salts and pure potassium nitrate in pores with a diameter of 26.1? results in the formation of an intermediate ferroelectric phase upon cooling. The permittivity and electrical conductivity are found to increase with increasing AgNO3 concentration in bulk samples, as well as with decreasing pore size in the nanocomposites for all values of x.  相似文献

The dielectric behavior of stearic acid in 1,4-dioxane medium at various temperature 303 K–288 K and frequency regime (10 MHz–30 GHz) determined from the complex dielectric permittivity spectra obtained by Time Domain Reflectometry(TDR). In this frequency range, the dielectric study gives the electrostatic interaction as well as orientational polarizability of complex mixtures of long chain molecules significantly. Dielectric parameters were calculated from the complex spectra of the binary mixture by non linear least square fit method. The excess permittivity (εE), correlation factors were calculated for the binary system. Thermal parameters(ΔH-enthalpy, ΔS-entropy and ΔG-Gibbs free energy) were calculated and the direction of reaction is determined. The FTIR spectrum of the binary system recorded and the assignments are discussed. The FTIR spectral assignments confirm the molecular interactions.  相似文献

The dielectric and thermodynamic studies on polar binary mixtures of N- methyl aniline with alcohols — propan-1-ol and propan-2-ol have been carried out, at different temperatures and mole fractions. LF impedance analyzer, Microwave bench and Abbe’s refractometer are used respectively in radio, microwave (X-Band) and high frequency regions to determine the dielectric data. The experimental data is used to correlate the dielectric and thermodynamic parameters — static permittivity, high frequency permittivity, Kirkwood effective correlation factor, corrective Kirkwood correlation factor, excess permittivity, excess Helmholtz free energy, dipole moment, excessive dipole moment, relaxation time, excess inverse relaxation time and the excess thermodynamic parameters. These parameters are used to interpret the molecular interactions between the molecular species of the liquid mixtures.  相似文献

The complex permittivity, static dielectric constant and relaxation time for tetrahydrofuran-water and acetone-water mixtures have been determined at 0°, 10°, 25° and 35°C using time domain reflectometry technique (TDR). The behaviour of relaxation time of the mixture shows a maxima for the mixture with 30% of water by volume. This suggests that the tendency to form cluster between water and solute molecule is maximum for this mixture. The excess permittivity for both tetrahydrofuran-water mixture and acetone-water mixtures, are found to be negative. The Kirkwood correlation factor has been determined at various concentrations of water. Static dielectric constant for the mixtures have been fitted well with the modified Bruggeman model. The values of the Bruggeman parametera for tetrahydrofuran is found to be more than the corresponding value for acetone.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Lead-free (Na0.5Bi0.5)1?xSrxTiO3 (x = 0, 0.04 and 0.06) ceramics with relative densities above 97% were prepared by solid-state synthesis process. Their dielectric, thermal and Raman properties were studied. X-ray diffraction analysis shows perovskite structure with rhombohedral symmetry at room temperature. Sr doping of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT) results in an increase of the dielectric permittivity, diffusing of the permittivity maximum and its shift toward lower temperatures. The temperature of the rhombohedral–tetragonal phase transition indicated by the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) peak and relaxational dielectric anomaly near the depolarization temperature are also shifted toward lower temperatures. The observed increase and broadening of the permittivity maximum, enhancement of the dielectric relaxation near the depolarization temperature, broadening of the DSC anomaly related to the rhombohedral–tetragonal phase transition and broadening of the Raman bands with increasing Sr content are attributed to the increase of the degree of cationic disorder and evident enhancement of the relaxor-like features in NBT–xST. This enhancement could play a positive role in the improvement of the piezoelectric performance of NBT-based ceramics.  相似文献

The binary mixture of 4-n-pentyl phenyl 4-n′-hexyloxy benzoate (ME6O.5) and p-cyanophenyl trans-4-pentyl cyclohexane carboxylate (CPPCC) shows the presence of induced Smectic Ad phase. In the present work the phase diagram as well as static dielectric permittivity measurements of different mixtures throughout the composition range, are reported. The observed variation of dielectric anisotropy with molar concentration in the nematic and smectic phases is explained, assuming the formation of both homo- and hetero-dimers in the mixture.  相似文献

The complex dielectric spectra of dipropylsulfoxide (DPSO)/water mixtures in the whole concentration range have been measured as a function of frequency between 100 MHz and 20 GHz at four temperatures between 298.15 K and 328.15 K. The dielectric parameters, static dielectric constant (εs), relaxation time (τ) and relaxation strength (Δε) have been obtained by the least squares fit method. The relaxation in these mixtures can be described by two Debye functions, whereas for pure DPSO Cole-Davidson type is valid. The relaxation times of the mixtures show a maximum at about x(DPSO) ≈ 0.3. In the concentration range where a maximum appears, the interaction of DPSO with water is presumably the result of hydrogen bonding between water and the sulfonyl group of the sulfoxide molecule. The concentration and temperature dependent excess dielectric constant and effective Kirkwood correlation factor of the binary mixtures have been determined. The excess permittivity is found to be negative for all concentrations.  相似文献

The dielectric permittivity of Ni-doped Li2Ge7O15 crystals was studied in the vicinity of the ferroelectric phase transition. Introduction of Ni has been shown to suppress the dielectric anomaly and to reduce substantially the transition temperature. A temperature hysteresis in ɛ (T) has been observed in nominally pure and Ni-doped Li2Ge7O15 crystals near the transition point. Measurements performed under cooling from the paraphase reveal dispersion of dielectric permittivity at Debye relaxation frequencies of the order of 104–105 Hz at T c . It is proposed that the hysteresis phenomena and the low-frequency dispersion are caused by residual defects (of the type of random local fields), which become polarized in the ferroelectric phase and become disordered above T c . Complex permittivity spectra of 2(2-alkoxyethoxy)ethanol-water mixtures for the entire concentration range and at 25 °C have been measured using time domain reflectometry technique up to 30 GHz. The relaxation processes have been obtained by fitting the complex permittivity spectra of the binary mixtures in 2-Debye equation. In glycol ether-water mixtures except for pure water and its rich region the double relaxation times, primary process (τ1) and secondary process (τ2) have been observed. The primary relaxation process (τ1) may be due to cooperative relaxation of the H-bond network of mixture constituents and the secondary relaxation process (τ2) may be due to its flexible parts attached to the carbon chain. The intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonding of 2(2-alkoxyethoxy)ethanol in pure form as well as in binary mixtures of water have been discussed using Kirkwood correlation factor, Excess dielectric properties and the Bruggeman factor.  相似文献

Binary mixtures of pharmaceutically relevant powders were investigated using dielectric spectroscopy over a frequency range of 10−3 to 300 kHz. Two different binary mixtures were studied as a function of concentration; pseudoephedrine hydrochloride in dicalcium phosphate dihydrate and acetaminophen in microcrystalline cellulose, respectively. Dielectric properties obtained from measurements of these systems are reported and found to follow a trend similar to the observed triboelectric behavior after low-shear tumble blending. Powder samples for charge measurement were mixed using a stainless steel blender and dispensed directly into a Faraday pail. For the two binary mixtures studied, low-frequency conductivity calculated from the imaginary part of the complex permittivity (or loss factor) was observed to be sensitive to water content. Furthermore, the unanticipated trends previously reported in the measured specific charge after blending were observed to correspond with the surface charge density calculated from the capacitance of the composite material. The implications of moisture and the physical and chemical properties of these dielectric mixtures are also discussed with supporting results.  相似文献

Dielectric relaxation study of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) has been carried out with propylene glycol (PLG) at different temperatures. Time domain reflectometry (TDR) in reflection mode has been used to measure the reflection coefficient in frequency range of 10 MHz to 20 GHz. The dielectric parameters static dielectric permittivity (? 0) and relaxation time (τ) have been obtained by Fourier transform and least squares fit methods. The experimental results show nonlinear variation in dielectric permittivity and relaxation time with volume fraction of PLG confirm the structural formation due to the intermolecular interaction between N,N-dimethylformamide and PLG. The variation in excess permittivity (ε E), excess inverse relaxation times (1/τ)E, Kirkwood correlation factors (g eff, g f), activation enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) are also calculated to study the binary mixture interaction.  相似文献

Piezoelectric and dielectric investigations have been performed on a (PMN)0.69(PT)0.31 single crystal. Low frequency (100?Hz) dielectric permittivity measurements revealed distinct anomaly at 129°C (T εmax) corresponding to the structural transformation from the tetragonal to cubic phase. Two other anomalies have been detected at 90 and 96°C. After preliminary polarization in the d.c. electric field, switched on above T εmax and switched off inside the tetragonal phase, the piezoelectric activity has been observed in function of temperature. Values of the piezoelectric resonance frequencies changed markedly at 96°C (on cooling) and 124°C (on heating) showing clear softening of the elastic properties near these temperatures. Values of the piezoelectric and electromechanical coupling coefficients obtained were respectively of the order of 800?pCN?1 (d 31) and 0.35?(k 31). Piezoelectric activity was detected tens of degrees above the temperature T εmax and disappeared at temperature at which the dispersion of the dielectric permittivity due to the presence of polar nanoregions is negligible. It was found that strong softening of the elastic properties accompanies phase transitions to the tetragonal and monoclinic phase.  相似文献
