The ferroelastic domains of the orthorhombic phase of YBa2Cu3O7- have been observed in polarized light on ceramics and single crystals. By combining polarized light microscopy with the X-ray precession technique, the correlation of the orientation of the orthorhombica- andb-axes with that of thea-b-plane bireflectance, reflection dichroism, transmission dichroism (at a thickness of about 1m), reflection tints generated with compensators and upon uncrossing of polars, as well as the orientation of etch pits has been realized on ferroelastic single domains, bi-domains and more complicated domain patterns. Four ferroelastic orthorhombic domain states have been identified, at variance with former group theoretical considerations, predicting only two states. Ensembles of lamellar domains beyond optical resolution generate strong bireflectance with principal axes rotated by 45° relative to the truea, b-directions.  相似文献

A systematic study has been carried out on the normal state resistivity of YBa2Cu3O7–x . Samples were cut from the same well-annealed material and were quenched from different temperatures (T Q ). The resistivity is metallic whenT Q 500 °C and becomes semiconductor-like whenT Q 600 °C. The data on the latter was interpreted in terms of the three-dimensional localization model proposed by Mott.The work at USCD was supported by the California MICRO program  相似文献

X-ray diffraction is used to investigate YBa2Cu3O7?x (YBCO) films on NdGaO3(110) and a ${{(100)CeO_2 } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{(100)CeO_2 } {(1\bar 102)}}} \right. \kern-0em} {(1\bar 102)}}Al_2 O_3 $ heterostructure. Symmetric, asymmetric, and axial geometries for θ and θ/2θ scans are used to obtain diffraction spectra from different crystallographic planes. The orientational and quantitative twinning characteristics of the films are determined. While the crystallographic parameters of these two types of film (the films are c-axis oriented with c=11.67 Å) are similar, there are differences in the twin structure. In particular, the features of the NdGaO3 structure lead to the appearance of an angle differing from 90° (90.20°) between the possible (110) and θ/2θ twin planes in a YBCO film and a different number of twin components in each system of twins. It is concluded from an analysis of the broadening of reflections, which are sensitive to twinning, that there is not twinning in a 60% film of YBCO on Al2O3 with a CeO2 buffer layer.  相似文献

The growth of ultrathin (1.7–7.3 nm) YBa2Cu3O7?x films on the SrTiO3(100) substrate is investigated by the mean-energy ion scattering technique. It is found that the growth of islands proceeds according to the two-dimensional and three-dimensional models and depends on the growth conditions.  相似文献

The method of point laser heating of a sample is used to perform experimental investigations of the electrical conductivity of YBa2Cu3O7−x ceramic in the vicinity of its critical state. It is found that, in the vicinity of transition to the superconducting state, the electrical conductivity of the ceramic exhibits a clusterlike behavior substantially nonuniform over the sample cross section. The topology of a superconducting cluster is investigated, as well as its spatial localization in the sample. A model of the formation of a superconducting cluster in a ceramic superconductor is suggested.  相似文献

Misfit and thermoelastic stresses in HTSC layers 1-2-3 grown on various substrates are, analyzed with the use of ultrasonic measurements of Young's moduli inYBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−x . Specific heat studies of the high-Tc superconducting compound YBa2Cu3O7−x with bulk transition temperature at 92K are reported. A distinct anomaly of electronic origin in the specific heat is observed with granular-like behavior corresponding to a Sommerfeld constant γ = 7±2mJ(moleCuK2)±1 Debye temperature (φo ≈ 400K) is obtained by fitting the experimental data with the theoretical Debye specific heat.  相似文献

We have measured the specific heat, the electrical resistance and the magnetic susceptibility of YBa2Cu3O7–x in a superconducting (sc) and in a non-superconducting (nsc) version. The latter was obtained by inducing a small loss of oxygen. In the sc sample we find a jump of the specific heat with C=3.6 J mole–1 K–1. Below the maximum nearT c the specific heat of the sc version drops too fast for an electronic effect alone: there is a cross-over from excess to deficiency already at 0.9T c . The specific heat of the nsc version shows a change of slope in the temperature range between 70 and 80 K, which indicates the existence of a second specific heat anomaly, which apparently exists independently of that due to the onset of superconductivity and explains at least partially the premature crossover.Alexander von Humboldt fellow. We have measured the ac susceptibility of a wire with a Nb core (1.27 mm diam.) and a Cu cladding (0.37 mm thickness) atT50 K andB0.1 mG. Due to its proximity to Nb, the Cu becomes fully superconducting. From the data we find a breakdown fieldH b =1.2 (mG) and a coherence length =2.2T –1/2 (m) for the Cu, as well as a field penetration depth -34T 1/2 (m) at the Cu/Nb interface.  相似文献

Ultrathin YBa2Cu3O7?x (YBCO) films were grown on SrTiO3 (STO) substrates using the technique of high-pressure oxygen sputtering. Films were then incorporated in a field effect transistor configuration, which facilitated the control of superconductivity by electrostatic charging. While devices using STO as both the substrate and gate dielectric have produced only relatively small shifts in film electrical properties, very large changes can be realized using an electric double layer transistor configuration employing the ionic liquid DEME-TFSI as the dielectric. By depleting holes an electrostatically tuned superconductor insulator transition was studied using a finite size scaling analysis. The breakdown of scaling at the lowest temperatures suggests the presence of a mixed insulator/superconductor phase separating the two ground states. Further depletion of holes resulted in a change of the majority carriers from holes to electrons and the emergence of what appeared to be very weak re-entrant superconductivity. Also by accumulating holes an underdoped film was tuned into the overdoped regime. A two-step mechanism for electrostatic doping was revealed. Hall effect measurements suggested the presence of an electronic phase transition or a change in the Fermi surface as a function of doping near optimal doping.  相似文献

EPR spectra of superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-δ and insulating Y2BaCuO5 have been examined. The intensity of Cu2+ ions in YBa2Cu3O7-δ is about 1/3000 of that in Y2BaCuO5 at room temperature. Owing to the Meissner effect in the superconducting state, the EPR signal of Cu2+ ions in YBa2Cu3O7-δ disappears; moreover the EPR signal of DPPH deposited on the YBa2Cu3O7-δ specimen is shifted. An additional EPR line is found for YBa2(Cu2.94Cr0.06)O7-δ at temperatures below 113K; this can be related to the phenomenon of superconductivity.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of the resistivity tensor components ρab and ρc were measured for YBa2Cu3O7?x single crystals with different oxygen contents. The resistivity anisotropy ρcab was found to grow exponentially with decreasing temperature. The results are compared with the predictions of different models describing transverse transport in the normal state of cuprate high-T c superconductors.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of the magnetization harmonics of YBa2Cu3O7 ? x monodomain samples are studied experimentally at temperatures of 77–120 K. It is found that nonlinearity of magnetization of YBa2Cu3O7 ? x (higher harmonics generation) is observed up to temperatures T = 103–112 K, which are much higher than the superconducting transition temperature of this compound. At the same temperatures, the temperature dependence of resistivity begins to deviate from linearity. The observed singularity of the magnetization of YBa2Cu3O7 ? x is associated with the emergence of a pseudogap state in this compound.  相似文献

One-dimensional imaging laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy has been used for in-situ measurements of spatial distributions of YO molecules produced during the ArF-laser ablation of YBa2 Cu3 O 7–x in vacuum and oxygen gas environment. The time-integrated angular distribution of particles ejected in vacuum has a cos n form, where 11 <n < 13. When oxygen gas was introduced, YO molecules were confined in a smaller volume, and temporal changes of their spatial distribution were interpreted in terms of blast-wave formation.  相似文献

We report effects of heating to the intensities of Raman modes in the spectra of single-crystals embedded in ceramic YBa2Cu3O7– pellets, and compare the results with those from YBa2Cu3O7– thin-films. Heating was done by either increasing the laser-beam power or resistively heating in a heating cell. From the measurements on a single-crystal in z(xx) polarization, we find that the relative intensity of the B1g mode of the plane oxygens to that of the A1g mode of apical oxygens decreases strongly as the samples are heated. For a crystal in near x(zz) polarization, the relative intensity of the two modes increases up to certain value. In thin-films, however, no such change was observed even when heated to higher temperatures than the crystals were. Therefore, we interpret that the change in the relative intensity of the two modes of single-crystals is not due to electronic or structural changes nor thermal decomposition in the heated samples. We propose that a single-crystal, when heated, is fractured into many micro-crystals and these micro-crystals thermally fluctuate in orientations. For thin-films, such fluctuation in orientations might be hindered because there are only a few layers of micro-crystals on top of the substrate. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of the heated part of the samples seem to provide the evidence of the micro-crystals.  相似文献

In order to obtain insight into the role played by the phonons in the superconducting phase transition, we have performed infrared reflectivity and inelastic neutron scattering experiments on single phase YBa2Cu3O7–(0.1,T c =94 K, T 10–90=1 K). These experimental results, together with published Raman scattering and specific heat data are used to determine the parameters of a rigid-ion model; the model is able to reproduce qualitatively the experimental data. On the basis of our model we derive and discuss the phonon density of states and the pattern of atomic displacements of some important vibrational modes. In particular, the model reveals the existence of high-frequency oxygen breathing modes and of low-frequency copper dimerization modes in both the CuO3-chains and the CuO2-planes. Furthermore, Jahn-Teller like oxygen modes exist in the chains. The possible role of these modes with respect to the pairing mechanism is discussed. In addition there exist low-frequency chain-degrading modes which favour jumps of oxygen atoms out of the CuO3-chains into neighbouring vacant sites in the basal plane.  相似文献

Measured is the transverse electrical resistance of YBa2Cu3O7−δ single crystals with different oxygen deficiency values (δ) in the temperature range Tc  300 K. The experimental data are approximated by an empiric expression accounting for the fluctuation conductivity near Tc and the semiconductor-like resistance regime. Our analysis of the concentration dependences of the fitting parameters, in particular, reveals that the resistance temperature dependence is largely affected by the sample's non-homogeneity. The latter, in turn, causes a Tc anisotropy and variable-range hopping conductivity between different phases. The deduced maximal values of the basal-plane coherence length, ξxy(0), are comparable with those for low-temperature superconductors.  相似文献
