In this paper we discuss the properties of the general covariant angular momentum of a five-dimensional brane-world model. Through calculating the total angular momentum of this model, we are able to analyze the properties of the total angular momentum in the inflationary RS model. We show that the space-like components of the total angular momentum of the inflationary RS model are all zero while the others are non-zero, which agrees with the results from ordinary RS model.  相似文献

We discuss the coupling of a quantum system through the angular momentum to the reservoir of quantum harmonic oscillators. In classical mechanics an observation of the oscillator trajectories allows one to determine the system's angular momentum. We discuss the quantum dynamics of the model. We show that the model of an observation of environmental coordinates can be related to some models of angular momentum measurement based on a stochastic Schrödinger equation.  相似文献

Various processes that are forbidden in vacuum due to angular momentum conservation can occur in a medium that is isotropic and does not carry any angular momentum. We illustrate this by considering explicitly two examples. The first one is the decay of a spin-0 particle into a photon and another spin-0 particle, using a model involving the Yukawa interactions of the scalar particles with a charged fermion field. The second one involves the decay of a neutrino into another neutrino and a graviton, in the standard model of particle interactions augmented with the linearized gravitational couplings.  相似文献

Experiments have been conducted at the National Sperical Torus Experiment (NSTX) to study both steady state and perturbative momentum transport. These studies are unique in their parameter space under investigation, where the low aspect ratio of NSTX results in rapid plasma rotation with ExB shearing rates high enough to suppress low-k turbulence. In some cases, the ratio of momentum to energy confinement time is found to exceed five. Momentum pinch velocities of order 10-40 m/s are inferred from the measured angular momentum flux evolution after nonresonant magnetic perturbations are applied to brake the plasma.  相似文献

The problem of controlling the angular momentum of spacecraft using magnetic attitude control systems interacting with the Earth’s magnetic field is considered. A mathematical model for the angular motion dynamics of a spacecraft has been constructed. An approach to determining the parameters of the control law for a spacecraft attitude control and stabilization system that ensures angular momentum dissipation is proposed.  相似文献

We study the angular momentum mixing effects in the color superconductor with non-spherical pairing. We first clarify the concept of the angular momentum mixing with a toy model for non-relativistic and spinless fermions. Then we derive the gap equation for the polar phase of dense QCD by minimizing the CJT free energy. The solution of the gap equation consists of all angular momentum partial waves of odd parity. The corresponding free energy is found to be lower than that reported in the literature with p-wave only.  相似文献

We generate intensity-difference-squeezed Laguerre-Gauss twin beams of light carrying orbital angular momentum by using four-wave mixing in a hot atomic vapor. The conservation of orbital angular momentum in the four-wave mixing process is studied as well as the spatial distribution of the quantum correlations obtained with different configurations of orbital angular momentum. Intensity-difference squeezing of up to -6.7 dB is demonstrated with beams carrying orbital angular momentum. Delocalized spatial correlations between the twin beams are observed.  相似文献

We examine what information can be obtained from fission angular distributions through precise measurements and an analysis in terms of the simple statistical model of Ericson. We report on the systematics of the decoupling angle and present the role of the angular momentum coupling between the entrance and the exit channel. The results indicate that the directional coupling of the angular momentum in the entrance and the exit channel is always strong for heavy-ion induced fission, and the angular momentum coupling plays a decisive role on the angular distribution of fission fragments. The average channel spins of fission fragments 〈If〉 are deduced through the decoupling angles determined experimentally. They agree well with γ-multiplicity measurements.  相似文献

We use a Laguerre-Gaussian laser mode within an optical tweezers arrangement to demonstrate the transfer of the orbital angular momentum of a laser mode to a trapped particle. The particle is optically confined in three dimensions and can be made to rotate; thus the apparatus is an optical spanner. We show that the spin angular momentum of +/-?per photon associated with circularly polarized light can add to, or subtract from, the orbital angular momentum to give a total angular momentum. The observed cancellation of the spin and orbital angular momentum shows that, as predicted, a Laguerre-Gaussian mode with an azimuthal mode index l=1 has a well-defined orbital angular momentum corresponding to ? per photon.  相似文献

Evaporative cooling of helium nanodroplets is studied with a statistical rate model that includes, for the first time, angular momentum conservation. While the final temperature of the droplets is almost identical to that previously predicted and later observed, the distribution of total droplet energy and angular momentum states is vastly more excited than a canonical distribution at the same temperature. It is found that the final angular momentum of the droplets is highly correlated with the initial direction, and that a significant fraction of the alignment of the total angular momentum should be transferred to the rotational angular momentum of an embedded molecule.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with neutron stars, which are described by a perfect fluid model, in the context of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity. We use numerical computations (based on the RNS code) to find the relation between the angular momentum of the field and the angular momentum of the source. One such relation was established for each stable star resulting from the numerical computation with an equation of state, the central energy density, and the ratio between the polar and equatorial radii as input, the central energy density and the ratio between polar and equatorial radii. We also find a regime in which the relation between gravitational angular momentum and moment of inertia (as well as the angular velocity of the fluid) is linear. We give the spatial distribution of the gravitational energy and show that it depends linearly on the squared angular velocity of the source.  相似文献

Inspired by rattleback toys, we created small chiral wires that rotate in a preferred direction on a vertically oscillating platform and quantified their motion with experiment and simulation. We demonstrate experimentally that angular momentum of rotation about particle centers of mass is converted to collective angular momentum of center-of-mass motion in a granular gas of these wires, and we introduce a continuum model that explains our observations.  相似文献

The dependence of the in-plane and out-of-plane angular correlations of fragments from fissioning heavy products on the kinetic energy and Z of the light reaction partner have been measured. From the dependence of the angular correlations on Q-value and hence energy loss, together with existing data from which the total angle-integrated cross section as a function of energy loss can be extracted, we have determined the dependence of the angular momentum transferred to the heavy product on the initial orbital angular momentum or impact parameter. The resulting dependence is qualitatively consistent with the sticking limit for a reaction intermediate of touching deformed fragments. More specific nuclear models generally underestimate the angular momentum transfer, although the one-body proximity-friction model accounts for the major fraction of the angular momentum transfer. A recent model incorporating both one-body proximity friction and collective excitations accounts quite well for the observed angular momentum transfer. The Z-dependendence of the anisotropy shows the importance of angular momentum fractionation for the less probable events, where the Z of the fissioning system is appreciably less than that of the target. The transferred angular momentum is shown to be fairly strongly aligned along the perpendicular to the reaction plane, with alignment values of 0.6 to 0.8. The component of angular momentum not along the perpendicular to the reaction plane is found to be primarily oriented perpendicular rather than parallel to the recoil direction. The absolute fission probabilities are found to be qualitatively consistent with J-dependent calculations using the J-values deduced from the angular correlations.  相似文献

We report a study of the momentum, angular momentum, and helicity of circularly polarized Airy beams propagating in free space. By using the vector angular spectrum representation, the explicit analytical expressions for the electric and magnetic field components of circularly polarized Airy beams are derived in detail. To overcome the drawbacks of classical kinematics formulae when applied to structured light beams, a general canonical approach is introduced to describe the momentum, angular momentum and helicity of Airy beams. Numerical simulation results for the spatial distributions of the canonical momentum, spin and orbital angular momentum, as well as the helicity densities are presented and discussed. This study may provide useful insights into the dynamical properties of Airy beams that may be important in several applications, including the optical control, micromanipulation, and information processing.  相似文献

The angular momentum of a charged boson in the presence of a vortex is calculated using collective coordinates in the two-dimensional, abelian Higgs model. Using the classical-trajectory Monte Carlo model, we have theoretically studied the angular momentum distribution of frustrated tunneling ionization(FTI) of atoms in strong laser fields. Our results show that the angular momentum distribution of the FTI events exhibits a double-hump structure. With this classical model, we back traced the tunneling coordinates, i.e., the tunneling time and initial transverse momentum at tunneling ionization. It is shown that for the events tunneling ionized at the rising edge of the electric field,the final angular momentum exhibits a strong dependence on the initial transverse momentum at tunneling.While for the events ionized at the falling edge, there is a relatively harder recollision between the returning electron and the parent ion, leading to the angular momentum losing the correlation with the initial transverse momentum. Our study suggests that the angular momentum of the FTI events could be manipulated by controlling the initial coordinates of the tunneling ionization.  相似文献

There exists a large local relative orbital angular momentum between produced partons along the direction opposite to the reaction plane in the early stage of non-central heavy-ion collisions. This initial local orbital angular momentum can lead to quark polarization along the same direction due to spin-orbital coupling in QCD. We present the quark polarization by using hard thermal loop gluon propagator for quark-quark scattering in quark-gluon plasma and compare it with the result obtained from the static potential model.  相似文献

研究谐振子势与高斯势联合势阱中玻色爱因斯坦凝聚体的基态。发现凝聚体形成巨涡旋时,其涡旋个数等于平均角动量,且凝聚体密度分布和角动量密度分布相同,进而得到凝聚体形成巨涡旋时所处基态是角动量的本征态。发现势阱从各向同性的环形势阱逐渐变为各向异性的环形势阱的过程中,凝聚体的平均角动量与涡旋个数之比先由1平缓下降,然后迅速下降,最后保持在0.5附近。同时给出凝聚体密度分布和角动量分布的特征,并作出相应解释。  相似文献

The first laboratory astrophysics experiments to produce a radiatively cooled plasma jet with dynamically significant angular momentum are discussed. A new configuration of wire array z pinch, the twisted conical wire array, is used to produce convergent plasma flows each rotating about the central axis. Collision of the flows produces a standing shock and jet that each have supersonic azimuthal velocities. By varying the twist angle of the array, the rotation velocity of the system can be controlled, with jet rotation velocities reaching approximately 18% of the propagation velocity.  相似文献
