This paper describes a general method to change the surface property of the oleic acid stabilized silver nanoparticles and successful tranferring of the silver nanoparticles from the organic phase into the aqueous phase. By vigorous shaking of a biphasic mixture of the silver organosol protected with oleic acid and p-sulfonated calix[4]arene (pSC4) aqueous solution, it is believed that an inclusion complex is formed between oleic acid molecules and pSC4, and the protective layer of the silver nanoparticles shifts from hydrophobic to hydrophilic in nature, which drives the transfer of silver nanoparticles from the organic phase into the aqueous phase. The efficiency of the phase transfer to the aqueous solution depends on the initial pSC4 concentration. The pSC4-oleic acid inclusion complex stabilized nanoparticles can be stable for long periods of time in aqueous phase under ambient atmospheric conditions. The procedure of phase transfer has been independently verified by UV-vis, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared, and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance techniques.  相似文献

Solvent-adaptable silver nanoparticles   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A simple and efficient way of obtaining silver nanoparticles that are dispersible both in organic and in aqueous solvents using a single capping agent is described. The silver nanoparticles are initially prepared in water in the presence of aerosol OT [sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)-sulfosuccinate, AOT]. Thereafter, transfer of the AOT-capped silver nanoparticles to an organic phase is induced by the addition of a small amount of orthophosphoric acid during shaking of the biphasic mixture. The AOT-stabilized silver nanoparticles could be separated out from the organic phase in the form of a powder. The hydrophobic nanoparticles thus prepared are stable and are readily resuspended in a variety of other polar (including water) and nonpolar solvents without further surface treatment. The amphiphatic nature of the silver surface is brought about by a small orientational change in the AOT monolayer on the silver surface in response to the polarity of the solvent.  相似文献

<正>We described a simple one-step process for the synthesis of oleic acid-capped magnetite nanoparticles using the dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) to oxidize the precursor Fe~(2+) at 140℃.By adjusting the alkalinity of the reaction system, magnetite nanoparticles with two sizes of 4 and 7 nm could be easily achieved. And the magnetite nanoparticles coated by oleate were well-monodispersed in organic solvent.  相似文献

A seed mediated procedure for the synthesis of hydrophobic Au(core)Ag(shell) nanoparticles in toluene is demonstrated. The reaction proceeds by way of the interfacial reduction of silver ions by 3-pentadecylphenol followed by their deposition on hydrophobized Au nanoparticles. Such a hitherto unreported interfacial seeded growth reaction leads to the formation of phase pure Au(core)Ag(shell) nanoparticles that retain the hydrophobicity of the seed particles and remain stable in toluene. Such core-shell structures are however not formed in the aqueous phase. The core-shell architecture was verified using TEM analysis and the formation process was studied by recording the UV-vis spectra of the organic phase nanoparticles as a function of time. TEM kinetics also showed gradual increase in the silver layer thickness. Conclusive evidence was however obtained on examination of the HRTEM images of the products formed. Elemental analysis using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of the Au(core)Ag(shell) nanostructure revealed the presence of metallic silver. Moreover changing the surface capping of the Au seed does not affect the formation of the Au(core)Ag(shell) nanostructure.  相似文献

An in situ reduction approach to synthesizing gold and silver nanoparticles by using a series of newly designed, redox-active amphiphiles at basic pH is described. These amphiphiles are the conjugates of a fatty acid (e.g., oleic acid, stearic acid, and lauric acid) and a redox-active amino acid (e.g., tryptophan or tyrosine). The amphiphile-coated nanoparticles are then efficiently transferred from water to different nonpolar organic media (such as benzene, toluene, xylene, cyclohexane, and hexane) simply by acid treatment. The phase-transfer process was monitored by UV/visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy, and the results showed that the average particle size and size distribution remain almost unchanged after transferring to the organic media. The anchoring of the amphiphile to the nanoparticle surface was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. A mechanism is proposed to describe the stability of colloidal Au and Ag nanoparticles formed in situ and their phase transfer to organic solvents. The presence of the amphiphile increases the thermal stability of the colloidal gold nanoparticle conjugates in organic solvents.  相似文献

We demonstrate the phase transfer of silver nanoparticles synthesized in an aqueous medium into hexane containing the cationic surfactant octadecylamine (ODA). During vigorous shaking of the biphasic mixture, rapid phase transfer of the silver nanoparticles into the organic phase was observed. The phase transfer of the silver nanoparticles arises due to coupling of the silver nanoparticles with the ODA molecules present in organic phase via either coordination bond formation or weak covalent interaction. This process renders the nanoparticles sufficiently hydrophobic and dispersible in the organic phase. The ODA-stabilized silver nanoparticles could be separated out from the organic phase in the form of a powder and are readily redispersible in different organic solvents. The nature of binding of the ODA molecules to the silver nanoparticle surface was characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, transmission electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献

Aerosol optical tweezers are used to probe the phase, morphology, and hygroscopicity of single aerosol particles consisting of an inorganic component, sodium chloride, and a water insoluble organic component, oleic acid. Coagulation of oleic acid aerosol with an optically trapped aqueous sodium chloride droplet leads to formation of a phase-separated particle with two partially engulfed liquid phases. The dependence of the phase and morphology of the trapped particle with variation in relative humidity (RH) is investigated by cavity enhanced Raman spectroscopy over the RH range <5% to >95%. The efflorescence and deliquescence behavior of the inorganic component is shown to be unaffected by the presence of the organic phase. Whereas efflorescence occurs promptly (<1 s), the deliquescence process requires both dissolution of the inorganic component and the adoption of an equilibrium morphology for the resulting two phase particle, occurring on a time-scale of <20 s. Comparative measurements of the hygroscopicity of mixed aqueous sodium chloride/oleic acid droplets with undoped aqueous sodium chloride droplets show that the oleic acid does not impact on the equilibration partitioning of water between the inorganic component and the gas phase or the time response of evaporation/condensation. The oxidative aging of the particles through reaction with ozone is shown to increase the hygroscopicity of the organic component.  相似文献

We report on the use of Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaf broth in the extracellular synthesis of pure metallic silver and gold nanoparticles and bimetallic Au/Ag nanoparticles. On treatment of aqueous solutions of silver nitrate and chloroauric acid with Neem leaf extract, the rapid formation of stable silver and gold nanoparticles at high concentrations is observed to occur. The silver and gold nanoparticles are polydisperse, with a large percentage of gold particles exhibiting an interesting flat, platelike morphology. Competitive reduction of Au3+ and Ag+ ions present simultaneously in solution during exposure to Neem leaf extract leads to the synthesis of bimetallic Au core-Ag shell nanoparticles in solution. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that the silver nanoparticles are adsorbed onto the gold nanoparticles, forming a core-shell structure. The rates of reduction of the metal ions by Neem leaf extract are much faster than those observed by us in our earlier studies using microorganisms such as fungi, highlighting the possibility that nanoparticle biological synthesis methodologies will achieve rates of synthesis comparable to those of chemical methods.  相似文献

In this study, it is demonstrated that silver nanoparticles can be transferred from formamide to chloroform using oleic acid as a phase transfer agent with a transfer efficiency of 90–95%. The silver nanoparticles are initially formed as an organosol by the reduction of silver ions with formamide. On aging the complex, the particles self-assemble to form an ordered close-packed two-dimensional array of silver nanocrystals when dissolved in CHCl3. The size distribution of the colloidal silver particles after transfer in different solvents remains almost the same. On the basis of IR spectroscopy, we discuss the adsorption of oleic acid over the silver particles.  相似文献

Inorganic/organic nanocomposite systems, in which inorganic particles are encapsulated into the polymer matrix, are new classes of polymeric materials. These materials combine the properties of both components. It means that polymer component with excellent optical property, flexibility and toughness could improve the brittleness of inorganic particles and besides, inorganic particles could increase the strength and modulus of polymers. There are various methods to make these inorganic/organic nanocomposites. One of them is the chemical process, in which polymerization is performed directly in the presence of the inorganic particles. Examples of miniemulsion, suspension or dispersion polymerization can be found in the literature but emulsion polymerization is by far the technique most frequently used.In this work, latex containing nanostructure hybrid of copolymer (styrene, methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid) and inorganic nanoparticles (silica) with core/shell structure was prepared via semi-batch emulsion polymerization. At first, silica nanoparticles were dispersed in water phase in an ultrasound bath to prevent the aggregation of nanoparticles, and then emulsion polymerization was performed in the presence of silica nanoparticles. Related tests and analysis confirmed the success in synthesis of nanostructure hybrids. Induced coupled plasma (ICP) analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed the presence and amount of silica nanoparticles in the final latex. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis confirmed the presence of 25-35 nm particles in the system and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed the core/shell morphology of nanoparticles. It has been shown that with an appropriate surfactant, adjusting the pH of media, using suitable monomers and under controlled conditions, it would be possible to produce stable organic/inorganic composite nanoparticles with core/shell structure. In another attempt and in order to investigate the effect of compatiblizing system, styrene-methyl methacrylate was copolymerized in the presence of modified silica particles with oleic acid as the inorganic dispersed phase at the same condition. Similar characterizations were performed in order to have a worthwhile comparison. The results for the late procedure show the effect of oleic acid in formation of aggregates as the core for polymeric nanocomposite particles.  相似文献

Specific features of the formation of silver nanoparticles upon the decomposition of the complex of Ag(I) with 2-[4,6-di(tert-butyl)-2,3-dihydroxyphenylsulfanyl]acetic acid in organic solvents characterized by large donor numbers (27–34) are studied. It is established that the stability of prepared organosols depends to a significant extent on the nature of a dispersion medium and the presence of water and oxygen in this medium. The Ag(I) complex is a solid precursor for the preparation of silver nanoparticles.  相似文献

A new method for the synthesis of monolayer-protected silver clusters (MPCs) based on the two-phase reduction of a stable negatively charged silver bromide sol is described. Phase transfer of the colloid to toluene is accomplished using tetra-n-octylammonium bromide as the phase transfer reagent. The advantage of this synthesis is to uncouple the formation of the silver halide colloid from its transfer and reduction in the organic phase, thus allowing control over each reaction step. The silver colloid in toluene was reduced with aqueous borohydride in the presence of 4-bromobenzenethiol as the passivating agent. The UV-visible absorption spectra indicate the intermediate formation of Ag(core)AgBr(shell) clusters during reduction. The resulting MPCs have been characterized by optical and transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, thermogravimetry, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The formation of spiral cracks in the nanoparticulate agglomerates on solvent evaporation was observed. The spectra of thin films obtained by solvent evaporation have been analyzed using an effective medium theory.  相似文献

Size separation of silver nanoparticles was investigated in counter-current chromatography (CCC) based on a unique step-gradient extraction process. Carboxylate anions were modified on silver nanoparticles to produce water-dispersible nanoparticles. The aqueous nanoparticles were readily transferred to the organic phase (toluene/hexane = 1:1, v/v) together with the phase transfer catalyst, tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOAB), owing to the ion-pair adduct formation between silver nanoparticle anions and tetraoctylammonium cations. Smaller nanoparticles were found to be more readily transferred to the organic phase compared to larger nanoparticles. Various concentrations of TOAB in the organic elution phase were used in the CCC extraction experiments. It appeared that a concentration of 0.02 mM of TOAB was adequate to achieve optimum separation and recovery for the aqueous Ag nanoparticle sample (1.5 mg) in the CCC extraction experiments. Samples of 15.8 ± 5.3 nm were separated; the distributions of four fractions collected were 13.7 ± 1.9, 14.1 ± 3.5, 19.2 ± 4.3, and 22.2 ± 4.9 nm. Compared with the stepwise extraction performed in this study, the step-gradient extractions using CCC provided much better size discrimination.  相似文献

Two pure silver nanoparticles (Ag210(iPrPhS)71(Ph3P)5Cl and Ag211(iPrPhS)71(Ph3P)6Cl labeled as SD/Ag210 and SD/Ag211 (SD=SunDi), were found to co‐crystallize in forming compound 1 . Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) revealed that they differ by only one Ag(PPh3). Their four‐shell nanoparticles consist of three pure Ag metal shells (Ag19@Ag52@Ag45) shielded by a silver‐organic Ag89(iPrPhS)71Cl[Ag(Ph3P)]n outermost shell. The number (n) of Ag(Ph3P) is five for SD/Ag210 and six for SD/Ag211. The pseudo‐fivefold symmetric Ag nanoparticles exhibit surface plasmon absorption similar to a true metallic state but at the nanoscale. This work exemplifies the important effects of phosphine in stabilizing large silver nanoparticles; and offers a platform to investigate the origin of differences in nanoscale metal materials, even differing by only one metal atom; it also sheds light on the regioselective binding of auxiliary Ph3P on the surface of silver nanoparticles.  相似文献

A colorimetric assay has been developed for the simultaneous selective detection of silver(I) and mercury(II) ions utilizing metal nanoparticles (NPs) as sensing element based on their unique surface plasmon resonance properties. In this method, sulfhydryl group modified cytosine-(C)-rich ssDNA (SH-C-ssDNA) was self-assembled on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to produce the AuNPs-C-ssDNA complex, and sulfhydryl group modified thymine-(T)-rich ssDNA (SH-T-ssDNA) was self-assembled on silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to produce the AgNPs-T-ssDNA complex. Oligonucleotides (SH-C-ssDNA or SH-T-ssDNA) could enhance the AuNPs or AgNPs against salt-induced aggregation. However, the presence of silver(I) ions (Ag(+)) in the complex of ssDNA-AuNPs would reduce the stability of AuNPs due to the formation of Ag(+) mediated C-Ag(+)-C base pairs accompanied with the AuNPs color change from red to purple or even to dark blue. Moreover, the presence of mercury(II) ions (Hg(2+)) would also reduce the stability of AgNPs due to the formation of Hg(2+) mediated T-Hg(2+)-T base pairs accompanied with the AgNPs color change from yellow to brown, then to dark purple. The presence of both Ag(+) and Hg(2+) will reduce the stability of both AuNPs and AgNPs and cause the visible color change. As a result, Ag(+) and Hg(2+) could be detected qualitatively and quantitatively by the naked eye or by UV-vis spectral measurement. The lowest detectable concentration of a 5 nM mixture of Ag(+) and Hg(2+) in the river water was gotten by the UV-vis spectral measurement.  相似文献

A facile method to control the synthesis and self‐assembly of monodisperse Ag and Ag2S nanocrystals with a narrow‐size distribution is described. Uniform Ag nanoparticles of less than 4 nm were obtained by thermolysis of Ag–oleate complexes in the presence of oleic acid and dodecylamine, and monodisperse Ag nanoparticles of less than 10 nm were also prepared in one step by using dodecylamine and oleic acid as capping agents. Moreover, the surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) properties of the Ag substrates have also been investigated. It is worth mentioning that these Ag nanoparticles and assemblies show great differences in the SERS activities of Rhodamine B dye. In addition, the superlattices of Ag2S nanocrystals were synthesized with Ag–oleate complexes, alkanethiol, and sulfur as the reactants. The resulting highly monodisperse nanocrystals can easily self‐assemble into interesting superstructures in the solution phase without any additional assembly steps. This method may be extended to the size‐controlled preparation and assembly of many other noble‐metal and transition‐metal chalcogenide nanoparticles. These results will aid the study of the physicochemical properties of the superlattice assemblies and construction of functional macroscopic architectures or devices.  相似文献

To date, it has not been possible to combine the high optical quality of silver particles with the good chemical stability and synthetic convenience in a fully aqueous system, while simultaneously allowing chemical surface functionalization. We present a synthetic pathway for future developments in information, energy and medical technology where strong optical/electronic properties are crucial. Therefore, the advantages inherent to gold are fused with the plasmonic properties of silver in a fully aqueous Au/Ag/Au core–shell shell system. These nanoparticles inherit low dispersity from their masked gold cores, yet simultaneously exhibit the strong plasmonic properties of silver. Protecting the silver surface with a thin gold layer enables oxidant stability and functionality without altering the Ag‐controlled optical properties. This combines both worlds—optical quality and chemical stability—and is not limited to a specific particle shape.  相似文献
