In this paper, we study Whittaker modules for a Lie algebra of Block type. We define Whittaker modules and under some conditions, obtain a bijective correspondence between the set of isomorphism classes of Whittaker modules over this algebra and the set of ideals of a polynomial ring, parallel to a result from the classical setting and the case of the Virasoro algebra.  相似文献

Inspired by recent activities on Whittaker modules over various (Lie) algebras, we describe a general framework for the study of Lie algebra modules locally finite over a subalgebra. As a special case, we obtain a very general set-up for the study of Whittaker modules, which includes, in particular, Lie algebras with triangular decomposition and simple Lie algebras of Cartan type. We describe some basic properties of Whittaker modules, including a block decomposition of the category of Whittaker modules and certain properties of simple Whittaker modules under some rather mild assumptions. We establish a connection between our general set-up and the general set-up of Harish-Chandra subalgebras in the sense of Drozd, Futorny and Ovsienko. For Lie algebras with triangular decomposition, we construct a family of simple Whittaker modules (roughly depending on the choice of a pair of weights in the dual of the Cartan subalgebra), describe their annihilators, and formulate several classification conjectures. In particular, we construct some new simple Whittaker modules for the Virasoro algebra. Finally, we construct a series of simple Whittaker modules for the Lie algebra of derivations of the polynomial algebra, and consider several finite-dimensional examples, where we study the category of Whittaker modules over solvable Lie algebras and their relation to Koszul algebras.  相似文献

In this paper, we study Whittaker modules for graded Lie algebras over ℂ. We define Whittaker modules for a class of graded Lie algebras and obtain a bijective correspondence between the set of isomorphism classes of Whittaker modules and the set of ideals of a polynomial ring, parallel to a result from the classical setting and the case of the Virasoro algebra. Motivated by the study of invariant rings of finite groups on the first Weyl algebras A 1 and finding interesting families of new noetherian rings, a class of algebras similar to U(sl 2) was introduced and studied by Smith. Since the introduction of these algebras, research efforts have been focused on understanding their weight modules, and many important results were already obtained. But it seems that not much has been done on the part of nonweight modules. In this paper, we generalize Kostant’s results on the Whittaker model for the universal enveloping algebras U(g) of finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebras g to Smith’s algebras. As a result, a complete classification of irreducible Whittaker modules (which are definitely infinite dimensional) for Smith’s algebras is obtained, and the submodule structure of any Whittaker module is also explicitly described.   相似文献

This paper addresses the representation theory of the insertion-elimination Lie algebra, a Lie algebra that can be naturally realized in terms of tree-inserting and tree-eliminating operations on rooted trees. The insertion-elimination algebra admits a triangular decomposition in the sense of Moody and Pianzola, and thus it is natural to define Whittaker modules corresponding to a given algebra homomorphism. Among other results, we show that the standard Whittaker modules are simple under certain constraints on the corresponding algebra homomorphism.  相似文献

A holomorphic family of differential operators of infinite order is constructed that transforms conical vectors for principal series representations of quasi-split, linear, semi-simple Lie groups into Whittaker vectors. Using this transform, it is shown that algebraic Whittaker vectors (as studied by Kostant) extend to ultradistributions of Gevrey type on principal series representations. For each element of the small Weyl group, a meromorphic family of Whittaker vectors is constructed from this transform and the Kunze-Stein intertwining integrals. An explict formula is derived for the smooth Whittaker vector (discovered by Jacquet), in terms of these families of ultradistribution Whittaker vectors. In particular, this gives new proofs of Jacquet's analytic continuation of the smooth Whittaker vector and its functional equation (Jacquet and Schiffman). Applications of the transform are also given to the theory of Verma modules.  相似文献

We formulate and establish a super duality which connects parabolic categories O for the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras and classical Lie algebras of BCD types. This provides a complete and conceptual solution of the irreducible character problem for the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras in a parabolic category O, which includes all finite dimensional irreducible modules, in terms of classical Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.  相似文献

In this paper, we use topological techniques to construct generalized trace and modified dimension functions on ideals in certain ribbon categories. Examples of such ribbon categories naturally arise in representation theory where the usual trace and dimension functions are zero, but these generalized trace and modified dimension functions are nonzero. Such examples include categories of finite dimensional modules of certain Lie algebras and finite groups over a field of positive characteristic and categories of finite dimensional modules of basic Lie superalgebras over the complex numbers. These modified dimensions can be interpreted categorically and are closely related to some basic notions from representation theory.  相似文献

In this paper we first prove the PBW theorem for reduced universal enveloping algebras of restricted Lie superalgebras. Then the notion of an induced module is introduced and the dimension formula of induced modules is established. Finally, using the results above, we obtain a property of induced modules pertaining to automorphisms of Lie superalgebras and isomorphisms of modules.  相似文献

We study some properties of generalized reduced Verma modules over ?-graded modular Lie superalgebras. Some properties of the generalized reduced Verma modules and coinduced modules are obtained. Moreover, invariant forms on the generalized reduced Verma modules are considered. In particular, for ?-graded modular Lie superalgebras of Cartan type we prove that generalized reduced Verma modules are isomorphic to mixed products of modules.  相似文献

We describe the action of the center of the quantum group Uq () on the tensor product V ? L(λ) of an infinite-dimensional representation V having an infinitesimal character χτ and an irreducible finite-dimensional Uq () representation L(λ) of highest weight λ. The conjugacy class of parabolic subgroups with Heisenberg unipotent radical in a simple Lie groups over ³ not of type CnC_{n} contains an element defined over  for each quaternionic real form. In this paper we study the Whittaker models for quaternionic discrete series of these real forms and prove results analogous and by analogous methods to the case of simple Lie groups over  that are the automorphism groups of tube type Hermitian symmetric domain and (so-called Bessel models) for holomorphic representations. In particular we calculate the decomposition of the space of Whittaker vectors under the action of the stabilizer of the corresponding character in a Levi factor of the Heisenberg parabolic subgroup.  相似文献
