The magnetic and electrical properties of Co-implanted single crystalline TiO2 rutile are presented. For fluences of the order of 1017 cm-2 and implantation energy of 150 keV the maximum atomic concentration of cobalt is 13 at% at a depth of 65 nm from the surface. The as implanted single crystals exhibit superparamagnetic behaviour attributed to the formation of nanosized cobalt clusters. After annealing at 1073 K an anisotropic ferromagnetic behaviour emerges with the easy magnetization axis lying in the (001) plane of rutile. The ferromagnetic behaviour is associated with oriented cobalt aggregates. Electrical conductivity of the implanted samples annealed in vacuum also exhibits anisotropic behaviour at low temperatures, but no magnetoresistive effects were detected.  相似文献

We provide evidence that high-pressure high-temperature (2.5 GPa and 1040 K) treatment of mixtures of iron with fullerene powders leads to the complete transformation of iron into iron carbide Fe3C. The comparison of the magnetic properties (Curie temperature and magnetic moment) of the here studied samples and those for the ferromagnetic polymer Rh-C60 indicates that the main ferromagnetic signal reported in those samples is due to Fe3C and not related to the ferromagnetism of carbon as originally interpreted. Taking into account the results obtained in this study the original paper on “Magnetic carbon" [Nature 413, 716 (2001)] was recently retracted.  相似文献

The dc magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements on two dimensional layered manganite La1.2Ba1.8Mn2O7 samples reveal the occurrence of ferromagnetism above room temperature with ferromagnetic (FM) to paramagnetic (PM) transitions at 338 K. The bifurcation temperatures shown by the zero-field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) dc magnetization curves at high temperatures shift towards lower temperatures as the applied field is increased from 100 to 2500 Oe. The data are suggestive of a large magnetic anisotropy due to the strong competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions resulting in a spin-glass-like state. Ru doping is found to enhance the ferromagnetism and metallicity of the system in a remarkable way. The magnetoresistance (MR) values obtained are very high and about 40% even at 260 K for the undoped sample.  相似文献

We have studied the magnetic properties of Zn0.96M0.04O (M=Mn, Fe, Co) compounds prepared using several routes. The low temperature ceramic synthesis gave multiphasic samples and show ferromagnetic behavior. Single phases can be obtained by heating at higher temperatures (∼900–1100 °C). The use of very low oxygen pressure also favours the preparation of single-phases. We were also successful in preparing single-phase samples at very low temperature (∼400 °C) by using a sol-gel method. All of the samples without noticeable secondary phases in the X-ray patterns behave as conventional paramagnets. This is true even for the samples with very low grain size. Samples exhibiting secondary phases reveal spontaneous magnetization even at room temperature in some cases. Our results strongly support that ferromagnetism at room temperature is always due to the presence of secondary phases and not to the doping of ZnO.  相似文献

Using electron holography (interference electron microscopy) we have made measurements of the magnetic flux and magnetic field distribution around a carbon nanotube filled with iron. At the surface of the carbon nanotube, an iron particle with a radius of 30 nm and a length of 200 nm created a magnetic flux of 10−15 Wb (Weber) and a magnetic field of 0.3–0.4 T (Tesla). The theory developed in this work is constrained to the case of cylindrical symmetry of the investigated ferromagnetic particles, but, in general, such studies can be made for ferromagnetic particles of any shape.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of Fe–Cu metastable solid solutions have been investigated by means of neutron diffraction and magnetisation measurements. These compounds exhibit ferromagnetic order with Curie temperatures above room temperature for concentrations beyond 40 at% in Fe. The magnetic moment at 5 K can reach values over 2 μB, while the high field susceptibility is similar to that found in FCC–FeNi Invar alloys. These features together with the low values for the linear coefficient for thermal expansion in the ferromagnetic region suggest that magneto-volume anomalies, including Invar behaviour, play a major role in the magnetic properties of this system when the crystal structure is face centred cubic. Such behaviour could be explained using theoretical total-band energy calculations.  相似文献

L10 ferromagnetic phase FePt nanoparticles containing Ag atoms (FePtAg) were synthesized by means of a liquid phase process, followed by annealing. The addition of Ag to FePt nanoparticles permits annealing to be conducted at a lower temperature (350 °C). This is further accompanied by a subsequent transformation in the crystal phase from the FCC superparamagnetic phase to the FCT (L10) ferromagnetic phase. The effects of annealing temperature and the Ag atoms inside the nanoparticles on the magnetic properties of the FePt nanoparticles have been studied. Using electron spectroscopy for the chemical analysis (ESCA), Ag atoms in the L10 phase FePtAg nanoparticles were found to be localized on the surface region of the annealed nanoparticles. The Ag atoms function to inhibit the oxidation of FePt, causing the particles to become more stable and to have ferromagnetic properties.  相似文献

Dynamic magnetic properties and ageing phenomena of the re-entrant ferromagnet (Fe0.20Ni0.80)75P16B6Al3 are investigated by time dependent zero field cooled magnetic relaxation, m(t), measurements. The influence of a temperature cycling (perturbation), ,(prior the field application) on the relaxation rate is investigated both in the low temperature re-entrant spin glass “phase” and in the ferromagnetic phase. In the ferromagnetic phase the influence of a positive and a negative temperature cycle (of equal magnitude) on the response is almost the same (symmetric response). The result at lower temperatures, in the RSG “phase” is asymmetric, with a strongly affected response for positive, and hardly no influence on the response for negative temperature cycles. The behaviour at low temperatures is similar to what is observed in ordinary spin glasses. Received 20 August 1998  相似文献

Polycrystalline Sn1−xMnxO2 (0≤x≤0.05) diluted magnetic semiconductors were prepared by solid-state reaction method and their structural and magnetic properties had been investigated systematically. The three Mn-doped samples (x=0.01, 0.03, 0.05) undergo paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transitions upon cooling, but their Curie temperatures are far lower than room temperature. The magnetization cannot be attributed to any identified impurity phase. It is also found that the magnetization increases with increasing Mn doping, while the ratio of the Mn ions contributing to ferromagnetic ordering to the total Mn ions decreases.  相似文献

We have investigated the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) response of as-made and temperature annealed FePt magnetic nanoparticles. The as-made nanoparticles, which have been fabricated by a chemical route, crystallize in the low magnetic anisotropy fcc phase and have a diameter in the range of 2-4 nm. The annealing of the particles at high temperatures (TA=550, 650 and C) in an inert Ar atmosphere produces a partial transformation to the high magnetocrystalline anisotropy L10 phase, with a significant increase in particle size and size distribution. FMR measurements at X-band (9.5 GHz) and Q-band (34 GHz) show a single relatively narrow line for the as-synthesized particles and a structure of two superimposed lines for the three annealed samples. The origin of this line shape has been attributed to the presence of the disordered fcc phase. Assuming that the system consists of a collection of identical particles with a random distribution of easy axes, we have been able to estimate a mean value for the magnetic anisotropy constant of the particles in the fcc phase, K∼2×106 erg/cm3. The measured line shape in the annealed samples can be explained if we consider that the magnetic anisotropy of the particles has a gaussian distribution with a relatively broad width.  相似文献

A simple model for systems of dipolarly interacting single-domain ultrafine ferromagnetic particles is studied by Monte Carlo simulations of zero field cooling and field cooling as well as relaxation experiments. By investigating systems characterized by an identical moderate concentration but different types of particle positions' disorder, it is shown that the positional disorder has a crucial influence on the magnetic behavior of the system. For extreme values of positional disorder, the interplay between spatial disorder and dipolar interaction can even lead to a cooperative freezing at low temperatures. Zn1-xFexO inhomogeneous oxide magnetic semiconductor films with high Fe concentration are prepared by sputtering, and fast annealing is carried out at different temperatures. It is found that magnetic properties are greatly modulated by controlling the composition inhomogeneity and subsequently fast annealing. Both ferromagnetic and paramagnetie components are found to coexist in the as-deposited Zn1-xFexO magnetic semiconductor. In particular, the antiferromagnetic coupling between the neighbouring local ferromagnetic regions is found in the as-deposited Zn0.23Fe0.77O film, and the antiferromagnetic coupling strength increases with increasing temperature from 110K to 300 K. We believe that this unusual antiferromagnetic coupling is mediated by thermally activated hopping carriers.  相似文献

We report the detailed results of magnetization and magnetoresistance measurements in the Ru doped layered manganite system La1.2Sr1.8Mn2−xRuxO7 (x=0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0). High-resolution measurements of magnetization and magnetoresistance were carried out as functions of temperature, magnetic field and time. We find evidence for the existence of competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions resulting in the formation of a frustrated spin-glass-like state at low temperatures. The time dependent magnetization follows the relation very well. We find that Ru doping enhances the coercive field and drives the system towards a magnetically mixed phase at low temperatures. Large negative magnetoresistance values are observed in all samples and at low temperatures the magnetoresistance varies as the square root of the applied magnetic field.  相似文献

A portable UHV-compatible gas aggregation cluster source, capable of depositing clean mass-selected nanoclusters in situ, has been used at synchrotron radiation facilities to study the magnetic behaviour of exposed and Co-coated Fe clusters in the size range 250 to 540 atoms. X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) studies of isolated and exposed 250-atom clusters show a 10% enhancement in the spin magnetic moment and a 75% enhancement in the orbital magnetic moment relative to bulk Fe. The spin moment monotonically approaches the bulk value with increasing cluster size but the orbital moment does not measurably decay till the cluster size is above ∼ 400 atoms. The total magnetic moments for the supported particles though higher than the bulk value are less than those measured in free clusters. Coating the deposited particles with Co in situ increases the spin moment by a further 10% producing a total moment per atom close to the free cluster value. At low coverages the deposited clusters are super-paramagnetic at temperatures above 10 K but a magnetic remanence at higher temperature emerges as the cluster density increases and for cluster films with a thickness greater than 50 ?(i.e. 2-3 layers of clusters) the remanence becomes greater than that of an Fe film of the same thickness produced by a conventional deposition source. Thick cluster-assembled film show a strong in-plane anisotropy. Received 14 December 2000  相似文献

Magnetism and transport properties of the semi-Heusler compound NiMnSb are re-examined in great details. A wide set of experiments (elastic and inelastic neutron scattering, static magnetic measurements, magnetoresistance, Hall effect, thermopower, FMR) have been performed on polycrystals, single crystals or single-crystalline thin films, and the results are analysed. Special emphasis is given to the magnetic excitations and to the relaxation mechanisms in this metallic ferromagnet. At low temperatures, all experimental results hint at the existence of a fully spin-polarized conduction band (half metallic state). At higher temperature (T > 80 K), but well below the Curie temperature (730 K), a cross-over to a usual metallic ferromagnetic state is evidenced and discussed. Received 10 January 2000  相似文献

Anomalous Hall effect and a large negative magnetoresistance (up to −8.5%) have been found in the high-TC ferromagnetic chalcopyrite (Zn,Mn)GeP2. The elevated manganese concentration in the top diffusion layer grown on ZnGeP2 isolated substrate gives rise to the increased hole conductivity and the temperature dependence of electric resistance ρ(T) typical of a metallic trace which indicate the charge carrier degeneration in combination with ferromagnetism. Additionally, we found a hysteresis of magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ0 vs. H is associated with change in a magnetic order at low temperatures, T<50 K. The effect accompanies the reversal sign of Δρ/ρ0 and is consistent with a singularity of magnetization vs. temperature. These anomalies observed for the first time in the high-TC ferromagnetic chalcopyrites II-IV-V2:Mn are explained by the phenomenological cluster model for ferromagnets.  相似文献

Thin iron films have been grown on (001) GaAs substrates by low pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD) at different temperatures with the pressure of 150 Torr. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that all films have only one strong diffraction peak (110). The surface of Fe film became smooth with increasing the growth temperature. Magnetization measurements showed that the Fe films grown at different temperatures were ferromagnetic with easy axis parallel to the film surface and hard axis perpendicular to the substrates. The field dependence of magnetization along two axes showed a remarkable difference, implying that the samples have strong magnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, when the applied magnetic field is perpendicular to the Fe surface, a sharp jump in the hysteresis loop could be observed, followed by a broad shoulder, which is related to the interface effect, the existence of carbon and the formation of 180°/90° magnetic domains.  相似文献

This study reports the new and simple synthesis of magnetic La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) nanoparticles by thermal decomposition method using acetate salts of La, Sr and Mn as starting materials. To obtain the LSMO nanoparticles, thermal decomposition of the precursor is carried out at the temperatures of 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000°C for 6 hours. The synthesized LSMO nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, TEM and SEM. Structural characterization shows that the prepared particles consisted of two phases of LaMnO3 (LMO) and LSMO with crystallite sizes ranging from 18 to 55 nm. All the prepared samples have a perovskite structure which changes from cubic to rhombohedral with the increase in the thermal decomposition temperature. Basic magnetic characteristics such as saturation magnetization (M S) and coercive field (H C) are evaluated by sample vibrating magnetometry at room temperature (20°C). The samples show soft ferromagnetic behavior with M S values of ∼9–55 emu/g and H C values of ∼8–37 Oe, depending on the crystallite size and thermal decomposition temperature. The relationship between the crystallite size and the magnetic properties is presented and discussed. The cytotoxicity of synthesized LSMO nanoparticles was also evaluated with NIH 3T3 cells and the result showed that the synthesized nanoparticles were not toxic to the cells as determined from cell viability in response to the liquid extraction of LSMO nanoparticles.  相似文献

A detailed study of magnetic properties of cobaltite YBaCo2O5.5 has been performed in high (up to 35 T) magnetic fields and under hydrostatic pressure up to 0.8 GPa. The temperatures of paramagnet-ferromagnet (PM-FM) and ferromagnet-antiferromagnet (FM-AF) phase transitions and their pressure derivatives have been determined. It has been revealed that in the compound with yttrium, in contrast to those with magnetic rare earth atoms, the AF-FM field-induced magnetic phase transition is accompanied by a considerable field hysteresis below 240 K, and the magnetic field of 35 T is not sufficient to complete this transition at low temperatures. The hysteresis value depends on the magnetic field sweep rate, which considered as an evidence of magnetic viscosity that is especially strong in the region of coexistence of the FM and AF phases. High values of susceptibility for the field-induced FM phase show that Co spin state in these compounds changes in strong magnetic field.  相似文献

Highly crystalline and ferromagnetic γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystallites were prepared by controlled oxidative co-decomposition of PEG 6000 and ferrocene at a temperature of 450 °C under air atmosphere. The morphology, crystalline structure and preliminary magnetic properties of the as-synthesized nanocrystallites have been characterized by using transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The highly crystalline γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystallites are in quasi-cubic shape with an average size of 30 nm and exhibit room-temperature ferromagnetism. The capping effect of PEG 6000 has also been investigated by thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) regarding controlling the size of the nanocrystallites and preventing the volatilization of ferrocene and thus raising the yield of the products. This simple method has a high yield of over 80% as well as low cost.  相似文献
