Data on diffractive photoproduction of isoscalar states appear to be anomalously large in a number of channels. Isoscalar diffractive photoproduction is studied in a model in which the pomeron is approximated by two gluons, and in which gluon intermediate states are allowed in the pomeron-meson interaction. It is shown that the model allows a resolution of the long-standing problem of the small (in vector meson dominance terms) diffractive θ photoproduction cross section. This sets the scale for the calculation, and it is then demonstrated that the model can explain the large isoscalar cross section if it is due primarily to the diffractive photoproduction of a system of gluons.  相似文献

In the framework of the Dual Parton Model an approximation scheme to describe high energy photoproduction processes is presented. Based on the distinction between direct, resolved soft, and resolved hard interaction processes we construct effective impact parameter amplitudes. In order to treat low mass diffraction within the eikonal formalism in a consistent way a phenomenological ansatz is proposed. The free parameters of the model are determined by fits to high energy hadro- and photoproduction cross sections. We calculate the partial photoproduction cross sections and discuss predictions of the model at HERA energies. Using hadro- and photoproduction data together, the uncertainties of the model predictions are strongly reduced.  相似文献

A hard-pion current-algebra model is employed to derive expressions for the pion electro- and photoproduction amplitudes. The low-energy predictions for the multipole amplitudes and differential cross sections of photoproduction are analysed and compared with the experimental data.  相似文献

A generalization of the “Gauge-invariant OPE model” to double pion photoproduction on3He is presented. Results for the total and differential cross-sections are shown. The relevance of double pion photoproduction in the nuclear shadowing of photons is remarked.  相似文献

Exclusive diffractive photoproduction of heavy vector mesons (V=, and ) at HERA is studied in a model employing a dipole Pomeron exchange (P) with an inelastic vertex. The model is fitted to the data on , B, and for and beyond the threshold region. The elastic cross sections for both and photoproduction show a moderate increase within the HERA energy region. The flattening of the slope B(s) (indicating little or no shrinkage) for is not correlated with the slope of the Pomeron trajectory. Estimates for photoproduction at HERA are given. Contributions to the high energy imaginary parts of the charged and neutral pion photoproduction amplitudes from degenerate ? and A2 exchanges and ω and B exchanges are parametrized similarly to the dual absorptive model. These contributions together with the imaginary parts of the amplitudes found at low energies from partial-wave analyses are then used to evaluate the high energy real parts of the photoproduction amplitudes from fixed-t dispersion relations. A fit is made to data on pion photoproduction at 3.4 and 16 GeV incident photon energies, for momentum transfers up to ?1(GeV/c)2. It is shown that much of the data is reproduced both qualitatively and quantitatively by our model. The high energy imaginary parts of the photoproduction amplitudes given by the fit are shown to be in accord with their average low energy behaviour.  相似文献

A model is proposed for double pion photoproduction on nuclei that is accompanied by nucleon emission. Simple models that faithfully reproduce single-particle differential cross sections are used to describe photon interactions with intranuclear nucleons. The calculated cross sections for pion photoproduction on 12C nuclei are compared with inclusive pion spectra measured in the second resonance region of photon energies.  相似文献

The production of dijets with a leading neutron in ep interactions at HERA is calculated in leading order and next-to-leading order of perturbative QCD using a pion-exchange model. Differential cross sections for deep-inelastic scattering and photoproduction are presented as a function of several kinematic variables. By comparing the theoretical predictions for DIS dijets to recent H1 data, the pion flux factor together with the parton distribution functions of the pion is determined. The dijet cross sections in photoproduction show factorization breaking if compared to the H1 photoproduction data. The suppression factor is S=0.48 (0.64) for resolved (global) suppression. The differential cross sections for two-step reactions where inelastic meson photoproduction on light nuclei is followed by a fast gamma decay of the excited final-state nucleus are calculated in the plane-wave impulse approximation on the basis of the shell model for intermediate coupling. The polarization of the recoil nucleus in the photoproduction process is expressed in terms of the angular distribution of secondary photons and their circular asymmetry.  相似文献

The dynamical model of photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons on nucleons constructed earlier is used for more accurate determination of the properties of known resonances. The new, “missing,” resonances are sought using modern precise experimental data on photoproduction of η and η′ mesons on nucleons.  相似文献

Using the existing data for charged pion photoproduction, some general features of the observables in K+ photoproduction are obtained. Using the constraints imposed by duality allows further predictions to be made. Two versions of the Reggeized absorption model are presented and comparison is made with earlier models.  相似文献

Differences in the photoproduction of mesons on the free proton and on nuclei are expected to reveal changes in the properties of hadrons. Inclusive studies of nuclear photoabsorption have provided evidence of medium modifications. However, the results have not been explained in a model independent way. A deeper understanding of the situation is anticipated from a detailed experimental study of meson photoproduction from nuclei in exclusive reactions. In the energy regime above the Δ(1232) resonance, the dominant double-pion production channels are of particular interest. Double-pion photoproduction from nuclei is also used to investigate the in-medium modification of meson-meson interactions.  相似文献

The predictions based on the vector meson dominance model (VMD) and the tensor-coupled pomeron for the photoproduction of heavy vector mesons are revised, and corrections to the model are proposed as suggested by the experimental data for the light vector mesons and the ψ (3100). In particular, the string model is used to predict the Regge trajectories of the heavy vector mesons (ψ, ?, …) which results in a correction to the predicted heavy vector meson-nucleon total cross section in agreement with the ψ data. The q2 dependence of VMD is also discussed. The cross section for the photoproduction of the ? (9.4) is estimated within this framework.  相似文献

We study coherent and incoherent φ-meson photoproduction from nuclei. The available data are analyzed in terms of single- and coupled-channel photoproduction. It is found that the data on coherent photoproduction can be well reproduced within a single-channel optical model and show only little room for ω-φ mixing. These data indicate a normal distortion of the φ-meson in nuclei, which is compatible with the results obtained through the vector meson dominance model. The data on incoherent φ-meson photoproduction show an anomalous A-dependence resulting in a very strong φ-meson distortion. These data can be explained by a coupled-channel effect through the dominant contribution from the ω↦φ or the π↦φ transition or, more speculative, through the excitation of a cryptoexotic B φ-baryon.  相似文献

A general procedure for constructing Poincaré-invariant mass operators in a helicity basis is presented. The procedure is developed in the framework of the instant form of relativistic quantum mechanics, but it can be easily extended to other forms. The method is used to extend a previously developed Poincaré-invariant coupled-channel model for the pion-nucleon system to include a photon-nucleon channel. This makes it possible to carry out calculations on photoproduction from nucleons that satisfy exactly the requirements of special relativity. Methods are given for deriving potentials that couple the photon-nucleon channel to the pion-nucleon channel. These potentials are invariant under gauge transformations of the photon's polarization vector. Amplitudes obtained by solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equations that arise from the Poincaré-invariant mass operators satisfy unitarity, and hence Watson's theorem for photoproduction amplitudes. The methods presented can also be used to develop models for the photoproduction of and mesons, as well as vector mesons. The quasi-Δ, doorway state model, previously developed to describe pion-nucleus scattering, [1] is applied to the study of cohe-rent π photoproduction on nuclei. The unifying features of this approach for pion elastic scattering and photoproduction are briefly discussed. The relationship to W. Weise's isobar-hole model calculation and plane wave impulse approximation calculations are examined. The results are presented for 16O(γ, π0)16O and 12C(γ, π0)12C, and compared with the available experimental data. It has a large suppression of cross section from the impulse approximation prediction.  相似文献

Measurements are presented of differential dijet cross sections in diffractive photoproduction (Q2<0.01 GeV2) and deep-inelastic scattering processes (DIS, 4<Q2<80 GeV2). The event topology is given by ep→eXY, in which the system X, containing at least two jets, is separated from a leading low-mass baryonic system Y by a large rapidity gap. The dijet cross sections are compared with NLO QCD predictions based on diffractive parton densities previously obtained from a QCD analysis of inclusive diffractive DIS cross sections by H1. In DIS, the dijet data are well described, supporting the validity of QCD factorisation. The diffractive DIS dijet data are more sensitive to the diffractive gluon density at high fractional parton momentum than the measurements of inclusive diffractive DIS. In photoproduction, the predicted dijet cross section has to be multiplied by a factor of approximately 0.5 for both direct and resolved photon interactions to describe the measurements. The ratio of measured dijet cross section to NLO prediction in photoproduction is a factor 0.5±0.1 smaller than the same ratio in DIS. This suppression is the first clear observation of QCD hard scattering factorisation breaking at HERA. The measurements are also compared to the two soft colour neutralisation models SCI and GAL. The SCI model describes diffractive dijet production in DIS but not in photoproduction. The GAL model fails in both kinematic regions.  相似文献

Eta-meson photoproduction on protons, neutrons, and light nuclei is reviewed. New results obtained for photoproduction on protons and neutrons at the GRAAL facility are analyzed in detail. The experiment in question was performed in a gamma-ray beam that was obtained by means of Compton backscattering of laser photons on electrons at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France). A comparative analysis of data on the differential cross sections and the asymmetries for eta-meson photoproduction allowed us to reveal some special features and to study the mechanisms of eta-meson photoproduction on nucleons in detail. Data available from the literature on eta-meson photoproduction on light nuclei are discussed in detail. Results that suggest the existence of bound states (etamesic nuclei) are presented. Particular attention is given to the newmethod of “taggedmesons,” which, according to the GRAAL experiment and to simulated results, makes it possible to study thoroughly the interaction of unstable mesons with intranuclear nucleons.  相似文献

Various aspects of the electromagnetic interactions of hadrons (strongly interacting particles) are reviewed in these lectures. After a discussion of the properties of the electromagnetic current of the hadrons and the idea of vector meson dominance, the general features of photoproduction cross sections are presented and compared with the very similar behavior of purely strong interaction processes. Given this close similarity in behavior, particular photon induced reactions are then considered in some detail, illustrating the application of theoretical ideas used in treating both strong and electromagnetic processes. The particular subjects discussed in some detail are photoproduction of pions at low energy and partial wave analysis, Compton scattering, vector meson photoproduction and tests of the vector dominance model, and photoproduction of charged pions at high energy. In the second half of the lectures inelastic electron-nucleon scattering is the principal topic. After a presentation of the kinematics and structure functions of the nucleon, the principal results of the inelastic electron scattering experiments are given together with the evidence for the remarkable scaling behavior of the structure functions. This leads to a presentation of the parton model of point constituents of the nucleon and the interpretation of the experimental results in terms of the properties of the constituent partons. A different view of inelastic electron scattering in terms of strong interaction ideas is presented in the last two lectures. These concern the high energy behavior of the scattering and the application of duality concepts which tie the behavior of nucleon resonance electroproduction to the behavior of the deep inelastic scattering.  相似文献
