Microporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are comparatively new porous materials. Because the pores within such MOFs can be readily tuned through the interplay of both metal‐containing clusters and organic linkers to induce their size‐selective sieving effects, while the pore surfaces can be straightforwardly functionalized to enforce their different interactions with gas molecules, MOF materials are very promising for gas separation. Furthermore, the high porosities of such materials can enable microporous MOFs with optimized gas separation selectivity and capacity to be targeted. This Focus Review highlights recent significant advances in microporous MOFs for gas separation.  相似文献

Highly selective separation and/or purification of acetylene from various gas mixtures is a relevant and difficult challenge that currently requires costly and energy‐intensive chemisorption processes. Two ultramicroporous metal–organic framework physisorbents, NKMOF‐1‐M (M=Cu or Ni), offer high hydrolytic stability and benchmark selectivity towards acetylene versus several gases at ambient temperature. The performance of NKMOF‐1‐M is attributed to their exceptional acetylene binding affinity as revealed by modelling and several experimental studies: in situ single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, FTIR, and gas mixture breakthrough tests. NKMOF‐1‐M exhibit better low‐pressure uptake than existing physisorbents and possesses the highest selectivities yet reported for C2H2/CO2 and C2H2/CH4. The performance of NKMOF‐1‐M is not driven by the same mechanism as current benchmark physisorbents that rely on pore walls lined by inorganic anions.  相似文献

The separation of C2H2/CO2 is particularly challenging owing to their similarities in physical properties and molecular sizes. Reported here is a mixed metal–organic framework (M′MOF), [Fe(pyz)Ni(CN)4] ( FeNi‐M′MOF , pyz=pyrazine), with multiple functional sites and compact one‐dimensional channels of about 4.0 Å for C2H2/CO2 separation. This MOF shows not only a remarkable volumetric C2H2 uptake of 133 cm3 cm?3, but also an excellent C2H2/CO2 selectivity of 24 under ambient conditions, resulting in the second highest C2H2‐capture amount of 4.54 mol L?1, thus outperforming most previous benchmark materials. The separation performance of this material is driven by π–π stacking and multiple intermolecular interactions between C2H2 molecules and the binding sites of FeNi‐M′MOF . This material can be facilely synthesized at room temperature and is water stable, highlighting FeNi‐M′MOF as a promising material for C2H2/CO2 separation.  相似文献

We designed, synthesized, and characterized a new Zr‐based metal–organic framework material, NU‐1100 , with a pore volume of 1.53 ccg?1 and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of 4020 m2g?1; to our knowledge, currently the highest published for Zr‐based MOFs. CH4/CO2/H2 adsorption isotherms were obtained over a broad range of pressures and temperatures and are in excellent agreement with the computational predictions. The total hydrogen adsorption at 65 bar and 77 K is 0.092 g g?1, which corresponds to 43 g L?1. The volumetric and gravimetric methane‐storage capacities at 65 bar and 298 K are approximately 180 vSTP/v and 0.27 g g?1, respectively.  相似文献

Fluorocarbons have important applications in industry, but are environmentally unfriendly, and can cause ozone depletion and contribute to the global warming with long atmospheric lifetimes and high global warming potential. In this work, the metal–organic framework UiO‐66(Zr) is demonstrated to have excellent performance characteristics to separate fluorocarbon mixtures at room temperature. Adsorption isotherm measurements of UiO‐66(Zr) display high fluorocarbon sorption uptakes of 5.0 mmol g?1 for R22 (CHClF2), 4.6 mmol g?1 for R125 (CHF2CF3), and 2.9 mmol g?1 for R32 (CH2F2) at 298 K and 1 bar. Breakthrough data obtained for binary (R22/R32 and R32/R125) and ternary (R32/R125/R134a) mixtures reveal high selectivities and capacities of UiO‐66(Zr) for the separation and recycling of these fluorocarbon mixtures. Furthermore, the UiO‐66(Zr) saturated with R22 and R125 can be regenerated at temperatures as low as 120 °C with excellent desorption–adsorption cycling stabilities.  相似文献

A majority of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) fail to preserve their physical and chemical properties after exposure to acidic, neutral, or alkaline aqueous solutions, therefore limiting their practical applications in many areas. The strategy demonstrated herein is the design and synthesis of an organic ligand that behaves as a buffer to drastically boost the aqueous stability of a porous MOF (JUC‐1000), which maintains its structural integrity at low and high pH values. The local buffer environment resulting from the weak acid–base pairs of the custom‐designed organic ligand also greatly facilitates the performance of JUC‐1000 in the chemical fixation of carbon dioxide under ambient conditions, outperforming a series of benchmark catalysts.  相似文献

Ionic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a subclass of porous materials that have the ability to incorporate different charged species in confined nanospace by ion‐exchange. To date, however, very few examples combining mesoporosity and water stability have been realized in ionic MOF chemistry. Herein, we report the rational design and synthesis of a water‐stable anionic mesoporous MOF based on uranium and featuring tbo‐type topology. The resulting tbo MOF exhibits exceptionally large open cavities (3.9 nm) exceeding those of all known anionic MOFs. By supercritical CO2 activation, a record‐high Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET) surface area (2100 m2 g?1) for actinide‐based MOFs has been obtained. Most importantly, however, this new uranium‐based MOF is water‐stable and able to absorb positively charged ions selectively over negatively charged ones, enabling the efficient separation of organic dyes and biomolecules.  相似文献

Adsorbents for CO2 capture need to demonstrate efficient release. Light‐induced swing adsorption (LISA) is an attractive new method to release captured CO2 that utilizes solar energy rather than electricity. MOFs, which can be tailored for use in LISA owing to their chemical functionality, are often unstable in moist atmospheres, precluding their use. A MOF is used that can release large quantities of CO2 via LISA and is resistant to moisture across a large pH range. PCN‐250 undergoes LISA, with UV flux regulating the CO2 desorption capacity. Furthermore, under UV light, the azo residues within PCN‐250 have constrained, local, structural flexibility. This is dynamic, rapidly switching back to the native state. Reusability tests demonstrate a 7.3 % and 4.9 % loss in both adsorption and LISA capacity after exposure to water for five cycles. These minimal changes confirm the structural robustness of PCN‐250 and its great potential for triggered release applications.  相似文献

We propose a facile room‐temperature synthesis of a metal–organic framework (MOF) with a bimodal mesoporous structure (3.9 and 17‐28 nm) in an ionic liquid (IL)/ethylene glycol (EG) mixture. The X‐ray diffraction analysis reveals that MOF formation can be efficiently promoted by the presence of the EG/IL interface at room temperature. The MOFs with mesoporous networks are characterized by SEM and TEM. The formation mechanism of the mesoporous MOF in EG/IL mixture is investigated. It is proposed that the EG nanodroplets in the IL work as templates for the formation of the large mesopores. The as‐synthesized mesoporous metal–organic framework is an effective and reusable heterogeneous catalyst to catalyze the aerobic oxidation of benzylic alcohols.  相似文献

Forming emulsions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water can largely expand the utility of CO2. Herein we propose for the first time the utilization of a metal–organic framework (MOF) for emulsifying CO2 and water. Owing to the hybrid composition, MOF particles can easily assemble at the CO2/water interface to create a rigid protective barrier around the dispersed droplet. The MOF‐stabilized CO2 and water emulsion has exceptional stability compared to those emulsions stabilized by surfactants or other solids. Moreover, the CO2 and water emulsion stabilized by MOF is “tunable” due to the designable features of MOFs and adjustable character of CO2. Such a novel kind of emulsion composed of CO2, water, and MOF provides a facile route for constructing MOF superstructures with many advantages. The macroporous networks and hollow capsules of different kinds of MOFs have been successfully derived from CO2 and water emulsions.  相似文献

A novel hydrophobic metal–organic framework (MOF), namely Cu2L (L=3,3′,5,5′‐tetraethyl‐4,4′‐bipyrazolate), is synthesized through a stepwise method, and exhibits an unprecedented 3,4‐c net. The exceptionally thermal, chemical, and air stability of this MOF, especially in water and under acidic or basic conditions, and its selective and fast sorption capacity for hydrocarbons over water warrant its direct use for efficient removal of trace organic wastes (e.g. benzene, toluene, xylene, and mixtures thereof) from contaminated water.  相似文献

A new avenue for making porous frameworks has been developed by borrowing an idea from molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). In lieu of the small molecules commonly used as templates in MIPs, soft metal components, such as CuI, are used to orient the molecular linker and to leverage the formation of the network. Specifically, a linear dicarboxylate linker with thioether side groups reacted simultaneously with Ln3+ ions and CuI, leading to a bimetallic net featuring strong, chemically hard Eu3+–carboxylate links, as well as soft, thioether‐bound Cu2I2 clusters. The CuI block imparts water stability to the host; with the tunable luminescence from the lanthanide ions, this creates the first white‐emitting MOF that is stable in boiling water. The Cu2I2 block also readily reacts with H2S, and enables sensitive colorimetric detection while the host net remains intact.  相似文献

Chiral ZIF‐8 hollow nanospheres with d ‐histidine as part of chiral ligands (denoted as H‐d ‐his‐ZIF‐8) were prepared for separation of (±)‐amine acids. Compared to bulk d ‐his‐ZIF‐8 without a hollow cavity, the prepared H‐d ‐his‐ZIF‐8 showed 15 times higher separation capacity and higher ee values of 90.5 % for alanine, 95.2 % for glutamic acid and 92.6 % for lysine, respectively.  相似文献

Unusual CO2 storage in water‐saturated MOFs was investigated by combining experiment and simulation. It was found that the micropores of HKUST‐1 saturated with water provide an environment that is thermodynamically and kinetically favorable for CO2 capture, but not for N2 and H2 capture. We expect that this phenomenon have potential to be used for successful separation of CO2 from versatile flue streams and pre‐combustion gas.  相似文献

Gate‐opening is a unique and interesting phenomenon commonly observed in flexible porous frameworks, where the pore characteristics and/or crystal structures change in response to external stimuli such as adding or removing guest molecules. For gate‐opening that is induced by gas adsorption, the pore‐opening pressure often varies for different adsorbate molecules and, thus, can be applied to selectively separate a gas mixture. The detailed understanding of this phenomenon is of fundamental importance to the design of industrially applicable gas‐selective sorbents, which remains under investigated due to the lack of direct structural evidence for such systems. We report a mechanistic study of gas‐induced gate‐opening process of a microporous metal–organic framework, [Mn(ina)2] (ina=isonicotinate) associated with commensurate adsorption, by a combination of several analytical techniques including single crystal X‐ray diffraction, in situ powder X‐ray diffraction coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (XRD‐DSC), and gas adsorption–desorption methods. Our study reveals that the pronounced and reversible gate opening/closing phenomena observed in [Mn(ina)2] are coupled with a structural transition that involves rotation of the organic linker molecules as a result of interaction of the framework with adsorbed gas molecules including carbon dioxide and propane. The onset pressure to open the gate correlates with the extent of such interaction.  相似文献

A microporous La–metal‐organic framework (MOF) has been synthesized by the reaction of La(NO3)3 ? 6 H2O with a ligand 4,4′,4′′‐s‐triazine‐1,3,5‐triyltri‐p‐aminobenzoate (TATAB) featuring three carboxylate groups. Crystal structure analysis confirms the formation of 3D MOF with hexagonal micropores, a Brunauer–Emmett—Teller (BET) surface area of 1074 m2 g?1 and high thermal and chemical stability. The CO2 adsorption capacities are 76.8 cm3 g?1 at 273 K and 34.6 cm3 g?1 at 293 K, a highest measured CO2 uptake for a Ln–MOFs.  相似文献
